Reporting Phishing and Junk emails in Outlook

Reporting Phishing and Junk Emails in Outlook IT Services has recently made changes to Outlook, so that it is easier to report phishing emails and junk mail from your inbox. If you receive an email that you suspect is suspicious, select the message and click the new “Phish Alert Report” button.

If you’re using Outlook through your web browser (Chrome, Edge, Firefox), the button is positioned at the top of the email.

If you’re using the Outlook Desktop App (Mac and Windows), select the email and the button is positioned in the main toolbar towards the top of the application.

If you’re using the Outlook app on your iOS device, tap the three-dot menu button on the right –> Phish Alert button.

If you’re using the Outlook app on your Android device, open the email and scroll to the bottom and tap the “Phish Alert button”.

Once the button is clicked, you’ll be asked to confirm your submission.

If you’re using the Outlook Desktop App (Mac and Windows) and an email is not a phishing email and is just spam, junk, or unsolicited, right-click the email, select Junk –> Block Sender.

If you’re using Outlook through your web browser, right-click the email, select Security options –> Mark as junk

If you’re using the Outlook app on your iOS device, select the email, tap on the three-dot menu button at the top of the screen –> Report Junk.

If you’re using the Outlook app on your Android device, tap the three-dot menu button on the right –> Report Junk.

N.B. Users of the Outlook Desktop and Mobile Apps should note that the current “Report Message” button will be removed when these changes come into effect.
