Abergeldie is a locally owned contractor with close to 30 years’ experience, delivering complex projects in the infrastructure, rail, utilities and energy sectors across Australia and New Zealand.
In the utilities sector, we offer expertise in strategic planning, ECI/Toc/Alliance collaborative contracting models to design and deliver water and wastewater asset reliability and renewals, bulk water asset upgrades, capital infrastructure projects and network rehabilitation and replacement services in regional and metropolitan areas.
Since beginning in 1994, Abergeldie has achieved steady growth and through recent strategic acquisitions, Abergeldie has progressively increased the scale and range of its project expertise and capacity. Award-winning quality in project delivery has earned Abergeldie recognition as a leading infrastructure provider.
Complex infrastructure projects that build better communities
Design and construction of potable and wastewater treatment, storage and distribution infrastructure, and end-to-end rehabilitation and replacement services across water, wastewater, and stormwater utility assets.
Design and construction of bridges and roads ranging in size from cycleways and pedestrian overpasses through to multilane highways and rail corridor bridge crossings.
Construction, reconditioning and maintenance of rail track, bridges, stations, buildings and civil structures, provision of geotechnical works and traction power supply, with major shutdown capability.
Large scale energy and green hydrogen storage solutions as well as design and construction of traction power substations, zone substations, buried and overhead cables, cable tunnels and conduits.
Owners and operators of the world’s largest blind bore drilling rigs, a large road header and both AVN and EPBM tunnel boring and jacking rigs.
Condition assessment and remediation of hydrostatic concrete, pipelines, tanks and reservoirs; concrete and brick work; and metal structures and cladding.
Construction and remediation of dams, weirs, jetties, and boardwalks.

Diversity and Inclusion

Water, Wastewater and Network Rehabilitation and Replacement
Abergeldie collaborates with utility providers to design and deliver water and wastewater asset reliability and renewal projects, bulk water asset upgrades, capital infrastructure projects and provides end-to-end rehabilitation and replacement services in regional and metropolitan areas.
Safety Focused Performance Joint Venture in Melbourne
The Melbourne Water Major Capital Delivery Program for design, construction and rehabilitation services commenced in June 2018. The program comprises capital works and renewal projects across water and sewerage assets, with a forecast annual capital-spend of approximately $200M over 10 years. The Safety Focused Performance Joint Venture (SFP), a partnership between Abergeldie, Downer, and Stantec, is one of two service providers competing and delivering work packages under the program.
West Region Delivery Team (WRDT)
The WRDT is a consortium established under a collaborative contracting framework - Partnering for Success (P4S) to ensure a reliable and resilient supply across Western Sydney. The WRDT is a consortium comprised of Abergeldie Complex Infrastructure and Fulton Hogan for construction, Programmed for maintenance and facility management, Stantec and Atlas for design and engineering.
The West Region Delivery Team is delivering design, construction, maintenance and facility management services for the next 10 years across Sydney Water’s wastewater, water and recycled water systems across the Greater Western Sydney region which extends from Sydney’s Inner West suburbs out to the Blue Mountains, down to Bargo in the South-West and includes the Western Sydney Growth Area and part of the North West Growth Centre.

ABK Joint Venture
Abergeldie, in partnership with BMD and KBR under the ABKJV is one of two industry partners delivering major infrastructure upgrades for South East Water under their Integrated Planning and Delivery model ensuring quality and reliable water, sewerage, and recycled water services across Melbourne’s South East.

Cessnock Wastewater Treatment Works Upgrade
Abergeldie has been engaged to design and construct the Cessnock Wastewater Treatment Works Upgrade for Hunter Water Corporation. These upgrade works will update treatment processes and improve the quality of treated wastewater, ensuring the plant meets the new limits set by the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) and will ensure the plant caters for population growth.
Maroochydore Wastewater Treatment Plant Upgrades
Abergeldie is delivering a 5-year program of works at Unitywater’s Maroochydore Wastewater Treatment Plant. The program of works includes planning, scheduling, design, engineering, testing, and commissioning of both planned and forecasted future capital works to support growth in the region and adapt to the changing climate.

Yarra Valley Water
Sewer Mains Renewals Program
Abergeldie have been completing works under the Yarra Valley Water Sewer Mains and Reticulation Renewals Program. The program will progressively rehabilitate its ageing sewer reticulation mains and branch sewers, improving customer service and reliability of supply. Using various rehabilitation methods, these works involve the investigation, design and construction of the rehabilitation of sewers ranging in diameter from 100 mm to 900 mm. Within this program, works also involve the rehabilitation of property connection sewers and civil spot repairs.
Water Mains Renewals Program
Abergeldie Water Solutions has been working with Yarra Valley Water for 23 years on their water mains renewals programs to ensure reliable water supply to over two million people and over 58,000 businesses in the northern and eastern suburbs of Melbourne.
During this time Abergeldie Water Solutions has established a strong, trusted and collaborative partnership with Yarra Valley Water and has been involved in early contractor involvements, design, and construction. Abergeldie Water Solutions has also provided long-term service with input into future capital and maintenance works planning.
Gold Coast Stormwater Relining Program
Abergeldie has a long-term collaborative relationship with Gold Coast City Council extending over 6 years to deliver the annual Stormwater Relining Program. The scope includes repairing and renewing the city’s stormwater pipe infrastructure using cost-effective methods to extend the service life of the city’s infrastructure assets whilst also improving the city’s flood resilience.

New Zealand
Abergeldie is a highly experienced civil contractor in New Zealand, delivering complex water and wastewater and pipeline rehabilitation projects for utility providers and local governments.
Central Interceptor Project
Abergeldie is collaborating with joint venture partner Ghella to deliver Watercare’s Central Interceptor Project. This project will provide additional wastewater capacity to serve Auckland’s growing population while reducing the frequency and volume of wastewater overflows, preserving the area’s beaches, estuaries, and waterways. The Central Interceptor Project involves construction of a 14.7km long, 4.5m diameter underground tunnel from Grey Lynn to Māngere Wastewater Treatment Plant, for collecting and transferring wastewater. Once completed, the tunnel will be one of the longest in New Zealand.
Asset Upgrade and Renewal Program
Abergeldie has been selected on a panel to deliver a large, five-year programme of works to renew and replace wastewater infrastructure in Auckland including pump stations, trunk sewers, rising mains and gravity mains.

Churchill East Pump Station
Abergeldie is refurbishing the Churchill East pump station for Waikato Regional Council in New Zealand. This project provides significant drainage and flood protection for approximately 1,480Ha of productive farmland and meets the requirements regarding safe fish passage.
The project includes the replacement of four existing pumps with two new enclosed Archimedes screw pumps. To accommodate the new screw pumps, the existing pump station intake and outlet structures will be demolished and reconstructed behind a coffer dam.
Clinker Place Stormwater Pipeline
Abergeldie delivered the Clinker Place Stormwater Pipleline to significantly improve the stormwater network in the area of New Lynn, for Auckland Council, futureproofing it for new development projects. The project involves installation of a new stormwater pipe running underground for approximately 550m from the Clinker Place development site to a new outfall in Manawa Wetland Reserve.
