Vail Mountain is the largest ski resort in the USA with a skiable terrain of 5,317 acres, 195 trails, and 32 chairlifts.

Terrain in Percentage:

Beginner Terrain: 18% of the Mountain Intermediate Terrain: 29% of the Mountain Expert Terrain: 53% of the Mountain

Vail Mountain is divided into three sections: The Front Side, which has 1,655 acres, the Back Bowls - 3,017 acres, and the Blue Sky Basin - 645 acres.

The Grand Hyatt Vail has an on-propery chairlift, Cascade Village #20, which is located near the ski rental, valet, concierge, and a Vail Resorts lift ticket office. The lift will take you to the Front-Side of the Mountain. From there you are able to access the runs and other parts of the mountain.

TERRAIN PARKS

Designated with an orange oval and may contain jumps, hits, ramps, banks, fun boxes, jibs, rails, half pipes, quarter pipes, snowcross, bump terrain, and other constructed or natural terrain features.

Prior to using Freestyle Terrain, you are responsible for familiarizing yourself with Freestyle Terrain and obeying all instructions, warnings, and signs.

There are two Terrain Parks on Vail Mountain

Golden Peak Home to the largest terrain park on Vail Mountain and features Rollers, berms, rails, boxes, and more. It’s located under the Riva Bahn chairlift.

Take a ski lesson with Vail Ski School and learn from world class instructors while uncovering the best terrain with expert guides.

Lift tickets and ski/snowboard gear are not included in the lessons but can be booked together with the lessons for an additional cost.

Lessons Offered:

Child Ski or Snowboard Lessons (Group): Ages 3 - 15

Adult Ski or Snowboard Lessons (Group): Ages 15+

Private Ski or Snowboard Lessons: Up to 6 people

Cross Country - Tours for the beginner on up utilize the spectacular wilderness areas that surround Vail. Cross-Country skiing is where it all started.

Snowshoes - The group leaders will take you into the surrounding wilderness as you learn about the area history, wildlife, and natural surroundings. All abilities welcome.

Telemark - Telemark is the art of skiing downhill with your heel and body free to move in a more natural way. Come and free both your heel and your mind as you learn new on-mountain skills or just improve your current abilities.

In winter, cascading waterfalls and trickling alpine flows freeze and form fantastically beautiful and surreal ice climbs. These short lived sculptures offer phenomenal climbing opportunities hence a chance to experience a truly unique and unforgettable adventure. These climbs range in height between 30 to 100+ feet.
