ABSTRACT

The main objective of the research is to build an interactive structure, that will motivate the feeling of excitement, playing, touching and enjoying a structure. This project uses organic integration in Fabrics as the research object, through both physical and digital simulations to explore the emergent and integral relationships between form, growth, and behaviour in material systems. The project is an understanding collection of the local crafts like tailoring, pottery making, mixed with stuffed fabric shaped by sewing layout and different forces to achieve organic shape orientation. The project uses the physics of stitching force complied with the stuffing material to formulate a shape of inflation in the fabric, based on the stitching line. The combination of a local craft like tailoring inflation and building facades will create a new understanding of the possible design options with one of the most famous crafts nowadays, so that can lead to new opportunities for interactive building structure.

Latex sheets Latex is known as a very flexible material, not just because it is really hard to cut through. But, because of its ability to stretch and flex based on the pressure.

Advantages of the craft The project was inspired by both tailoring and pottery crafts, Both of them has similarity in how they respond to organic forces and to be shaped by gravity. However, the sewing idea in the fabrics gives at a lot more strength to keep a specific shape while for earth crafts an external force like the gravity or the hands of the craft men are determining the outcome and then left to dray to keep its final shape.

STRETCH EXPERIMENT

It is very important to understand the fabric abilities since it will be the main influence of the shape making and the final results.

STRETCH TEST First, I will be testing the fabric ability to stretch and its respond to different forces. The goal is to select the most flexible type of material to work with. Thereby, a fabric that will allow achieving tension and rigidity. in this test, I will test Cling Film PVC, Cotton Fabric, Latex Fabric and Nylon Sock.

Rice is one of the most accessible materials that I found to be used for a prototyping for shape making. However, it seems like it’s will be impossible to use it in a larger scales based on its havy whight and life timing

Plaster was the best material to be used with method 2 based on its heavy weight that works well with the gravity and its ability to keep a shape of the mould.

CLIENT the project was inspired by google vision. however, we found a huge difference between google interior spaces and their exterior. we reached to one of google’s architects who workes for the Heatherwick office. luckily, google had the same vision we had and they had a great architecture lack of identity because Google normally occupied buildings but they have never built their own buildings. Thus, an amateur could differentiate a google interior space among many but however, He won’t be able to differentiate their building in the street. and that was the driver for the pavilion brief of this year. Which to create an impression of how a google building could look like
