AMCHAM DUBAI UPDATE Q2-2026

Message from the

Chief Executive Officer Celebrating Our Legacy. Expanding Our Impact. Dear AmCham Dubai Members and Partners, This issue marks an important milestone in the evolution of our Chamber as we officially reaffirm our identity as AmCham Dubai & the Northern Emirates. While our name has evolved, our mission remains unchanged. Our renewed identity reflects our renewed commitment to serving businesses across Dubai and the Northern Emirates while building on our proud legacy as the U.A.E.'s first bilateral trade organization. For more than four decades, AmCham has connected American and U.A.E. businesses, government leaders, and industry stakeholders, strengthening commercial ties and creating opportunities that drive economic growth.

Cara Nazari, CEO

Today, we remain committed to expanding our engagement across Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah, and Umm Al Quwain, ensuring our members have access to the connections, advocacy, and programs that help them succeed. Our recent Board strategy session in Umm Al Quwain reinforced this commitment and our focus on strengthening relationships and creating opportunities across the Northern Emirates. This year also carries special significance as the United States celebrates its 250th Anniversary. For 250 years, the United States has championed innovation, entrepreneurship, and enterprise—values that continue to shape the enduring U.S.-U.A.E. partnership and inspire the work we do every day on behalf of our members. Following a period of regional uncertainty earlier this year, it is encouraging to see business confidence and momentum return across the region. The U.A.E. has once again demonstrated its resilience, stability, and global leadership, providing businesses with the confidence to focus on growth, investment, and the opportunities ahead. As always, AmCham Dubai & the Northern Emirates remains committed to being the trusted voice of American business, strengthening commercial ties between the U.S. and the U.A.E., and delivering meaningful value through our advocacy, committees, programs, and partnerships. To those travelling over the summer, I wish you and your families a safe, relaxing, and enjoyable break. We look forward to continuing this exciting new chapter together in the months ahead. Warm regards,

Cara Nazari Chief Executive Officer AmCham Dubai

UPDATES Safe Passage?

What Does Trump’s Deal Mean for the Strait of Hormuz — Mohamed Bahaa, Eddie Taylor

The temporary closure of the Strait of Hormuz earlier this year highlighted the vulnerability of one of the world's most critical trade routes, disrupting global energy markets and supply chains. The crisis caused oil prices to surge above USD 120 per barrel, shipping traffic to fall sharply, insurance costs to rise, and inflationary pressures to return across major economies. READ MORE Following a ceasefire agreement announced by U.S. President Donald Trump on June 15, the Strait has reopened, easing immediate concerns over global trade and energy security. However, uncertainty remains over the long-term stability of the region and the enforceability of the agreement. In response, Gulf countries—including the UAE—are accelerating investments in alternative ports, pipelines, rail networks, and logistics corridors to reduce reliance on the Strait of Hormuz and strengthen supply chain resilience. Analysts believe the most likely outcome for the remainder of 2026 is a gradual restoration of shipping, though energy markets are expected to remain volatile. The crisis has reinforced the importance of resilient trade infrastructure as governments and businesses reassess supply chain strategies in an increasingly uncertain geopolitical environment.
