On the Cover The iconic Chapel at St. George’s College at Quilmes, resplendent in the sun, welcomes all-comers. This beautiful building was dedicated on St. George’s day in 1914 before a large attendance of clergy, pupils, parents and friends. Based on the plan of a Latin cross properly oriented and styled along early English Gothic (XIII Century) lines, it can accommodate over two-hundred people. Constructed of bricks and hand-worked Mar del Plata stone, with pews of Paraguayan cedar and doors throughout of American oak. The 10-meter high tower features a clock with four dials which strikes the hours on a 200kg bell. A screen of Japanese oak lies between the vestry and the choir, erected in memory of fourteen Old Georgians who fell in WWI. The Organ, built by Hele & Co of Plymouth in 1914, was donated by Mr. Drysdale in memory of his sister Jane. The Chapel - once visited, never forgotten. December 2020
