SOUVENIR PROGRAM 2024
PREMIER BIG TOP EVENT

SARASOTA’S

WELCOME to the Circus Arts Conservatory’s annual presentation of Circus Sarasota, which offers a showcase of top global circus artists performing in a one-ring traditional circus setting. Featuring new and innovative acts, Circus Sarasota’s 2024 production offers high-flying action, heart-stopping thrills, laugh-out-loud comedic antics, and acts that defy both expectations and the boundaries of physical limitations.
“While this may be Circus Sarasota’s 26th year, we work very hard to make sure that no two productions are ever alike,” says CAC Founder/President & CEO Pedro Reis. “Our goal is to recruit the perfect balance of talent and variety to ensure patrons of all ages will be thrilled, inspired and entertained each and every year. We are confident that this year’s show will take things to an entirely new level for you, whether you are a circus regular or brand new to the circus arts.
FOUNDER’S NOTE
2023 was definitely a very good year for The Circus Arts Conservatory. It’s hard to believe the success we have achieved since our humble beginnings 26 years ago. This past year, over 100,000 patrons attended our performances, 9,000 Sarasota and Manatee County students were impacted with our circus arts science program, 2,500 students participated in our training programs and we had a $15+ million economic impact on our local community.
The CAC is busier than ever! To give you an idea of our programing that serves our community we began the year with our new UTC holiday collaboration Wonderland, and our Sailor Circus winter show. In February, we hosted our annual gala, the Circus Ring of Fame awards show and Circus Sarasota at our new big top. Following that will be Cirque des Voix, the Sailor Circus Spring Show, and our second annual EDM concert fundraiser WONDERBALL at the Sailor Circus Arena. We will then welcome audiences to The Ringling for our Summer Circus Spectacular. During all of this we continue to offer our circus training program for the Sailor Circus Academy Gold and Red Troupes, plus 9 weeks of summer camp and recreational circus classes for all ages.

CHAIR'S MESSAGE
As Board Chair, I would like to welcome you to Circus Sarasota. You are in for a magical evening of professional circus arts performance.
The Circus Arts Conservatory is more than what you will see tonight. We also work with students ages eight to eighteen, teaching them life skills through circus arts. We provide accredited classes through our Magnet Programs in area middle and high schools, as well as through our Arts-Integrated Education Program. Our STEAM programs provide interactive, hands-on experiences to reinforce basic concepts in physical science for elementary students. Additionally, we have the Sailor Circus Academy, America’s oldest youth circus, which will celebrate 75 years of training and performance in 2024.
YOU can even run away and join the circus – at least for a few hours. The CAC’s professional coaches offer group and one-on-one classes in aerial silks, lyra, flying trapeze, and more. Visit our website at circusarts.org and see all we have to offer!
Thank you for joining us tonight. I hope to see you at Cirque des Voix and the Sailor Circus Spring Show.
Best regards,
Shari Ashman Chairman of the Board

We want to thank our Board of Directors, our amazing donors, our active volunteers and of course our incredible staff and coaches. Without you we would not be where we are today.
Thank you all for coming today and enjoy the show!

RINGMASTER
Circus Sarasota proudly welcomes returning Ringmaster, Joseph Bauer, Jr. The renowned star of Bauer’s Circus Maximus is a fifteenth-generation member of one of Switzerland’s oldest circus families. Bauer was born in Sarasota after his father came to the United States to perform in 1954. Since then, his illustrious Swiss Family has called Sarasota home. Bauer first performed at a very young age, as part of the family daredevil act, The Fabulous Fearless Bauers. In his early teens, he performed in such thrilling acts as the motorcycle on the highwire, the death-defying ninety-foot sway pole, and the challenging fifty-foot Wheel of Destiny.
The multi-talented Bauer is not only known for his death-defying bravery, but also for his elegance and his prodigious skills as a Ringmaster. His accomplishments have taken him all around the globe to many illustrious circus venues, TV appearances and competitions.
Joseph Bauer, Jr. once again steps into the dazzling spotlight of Florida’s famous Circus Sarasota to thrill and delight “Children of All Ages” in southwest Florida as he presents talented circus artists from around the world.

CALEB CARINCI-ASCH
HORSEBACK RIDING
Caleb made his debut performance at the age of six as an acrobat for the Pennsylvania Renaissance Festival. Hailing from performing parents, he grew up with an enthusiasm for the performing arts that is only rivaled by his love for horses. It seemed only natural that he developed a crowd-thrilling trick riding act that keeps audiences on the edge of their seats.
Caleb and his horses have toured throughout Europe, Canada, and Peru. He was featured in the Big Apple Circus and had a role in filming The Greatest Showman. In 2022, Caleb suffered an injury that meant his Daring Horsemen Troupe performed in Circus Sarasota without him. He is excited to make his official Circus Sarasota debut this year.

ANTON MONASTRYSKY
HULA HOOP ARTISTRY
Moscow-born Monastrysky is a fourthgeneration circus artist who began perfecting his craft at the age of ten. His first professional performance was in the famous German variety show, Tigerpalast Variete Theatre, at the age of fifteen. Over the years, he has earned the nickname “Lord of the Ring” for his ability to spin the hula hoop in so many ways.
His unique discipline – featuring difficult tricks and stylish choreography – has enabled him to
perform in many of the top circuses in the world, from Cirque du Soleil to Circus Krone, as well as television shows, variety and theater shows, and festivals. He has won awards at festivals, including the Circus Festival of Monte Carlo and European Youth Circus Wiesbaden. Anton is making his Circus Sarasota debut.

JIMMY FOLCO COMEDY
Luigi Rodolfo Folco comes from one of the largest dynasties in circus, following in the footsteps of seven and eleven generations of family dedicated to the circus business for over three hundred years.
He found his passion as clown Jimmy Folco at the tender age of six. With more than thirty years of experience in the world of entertainment, Jimmy has toured with major circuses all around the globe, receiving a variety of special recognitions and numerous awards. His work has been influenced by his great admiration for the artistry of Buster Keaton and Keaton’s trademark physical comedy.
Jimmy, who performed with Circus Sarasota in 2008 and in Circus Sarasota’s Ovation in 2018, is eager to reconnect with American audiences this winter.

NOEMI ESPAÑA
CONTORTION
Noemi, an eighth-generation circus performer, debuted her one-of-a-kind hula hoop act in Spain at the age of fourteen, later performing in Circo Pride in Madrid, Spain. Noemi’s act combines the strength and grace of contortion and hand balancing with the ability to manipulate objects, from eight metal hula hoops to a deadly bow and arrow.
She has performed in Australia, Italy, Panama, and other venues around the world. She toured symphony theaters across the United States and Canada, culminating in a monumental performance at the famous Hollywood Bowl.
Her unique ability to shoot a bow and arrow with her feet will keep Circus Sarasota audiences amazed and in suspense.

MARCOS PONCE LOPEZ
CHINESE POLE
Born in Malaga, Spain, Marcos took an interest in breakdancing at the age of ten. Three years later, he began competing and went on to win numerous titles, including “Champions of Spain.” With his brother, he developed a hand balancing and tumbling act, known as the Impact Brothers.
The Impact Brothers traveled all over the world, performing multiple times for the royal family of Saudi Arabia and appearing on several television specials. As part of Cirque Musica, Marcos toured the United States and Canada, performing with a live symphony orchestra. He went on to master the Wheel of
Destiny, perfecting a skill that few others in the world have attempted – walking on his hands outside the wheel.
Marcos debuted his Chinese Pole act at Broadway Theater in South Carolina during the summer of 2022. His acrobatic strength, physical speed, and agility allow him to thrill audiences with his dangerous tricks. He looks forward to sharing this new act with Circus Sarasota audiences this season.

ELAN ES PAÑA
DIABLO JUGGLING
Elan, the youngest member of the performing España family, began juggling the diabolo (a two-headed top caught on a string stretched between two sticks) at the age of six. Since then, he has traveled around the world presenting his fun, energetic, and skillful routine, juggling up to four diabolos at a time.
He has performed across Australia, Italy, Germany, South and North America. In the United States, he has showcased his talents in front of major orchestras like the Boston Symphony and the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra – even performing with the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra as a part of Cirque Musica
Now nineteen years old, he has also mastered the elegant acrobatics of the Cyr Wheel. In 2022, during the Ring of Fame induction in Sarasota, Elan received the Generation Next Award, honoring young artists on the stairway to stardom.
BELLO SISTERS
ACROBATIC HAND BALANCING
Loren, Celine, and Joline, a talented trio of acrobatic Italian-German sisters, perform acrobatic hand balancing at the highest level. Born into a circus family – their father performed the Icarian Games with Cirque du Soleil for twelve years and their mother was the first woman to walk a highwire on stilts – the sisters began training at an early age. Since developing their act, the trio has performed in multiple circus shows and other venues, becoming one of the most-requested halftime show acts within sports leagues like the NBA and NCAA Basketball.
In 2020, the Bello sisters competed on both America’s Got Talent – where they made the top ten – and Italy’s Got Talent. Then, in 2023, they returned for another shot at the championship on America’s Got Talent: All Stars.

Leave a Circus Legacy
Becoming a Legacy Society member is as simple as including The CAC in your will. Charitable bequests are among the simplest and most flexible ways to leave your legacy. Planned giving options such as distributions from an IRA retirement account, or establishing charitable trusts that produce lifetime incomes carry significant tax advantages while ensuring your circus legacy wishes.
Please consider becoming a CAC Legacy Society Member. Contact Zoltan Karpathy, CAC Vice President of Philanthropy, at 941-355-9335 x325 or email Zoltan@CircusArts.org for more information about how your donations can benefit you while helping sustain the CAC mission.
