Young Professionals for Cove, pictured above, are a collection of women and men, ages 21 to 40, who support the overall mission and activities of The Cove School. Acting as ambassadors of the school, Young Professionals for Cove members engage the community through volunteering, fundraising, networking and advocacy opportunities.
The Cove School Annual Benefit Celebrating Our Journeys took place on Saturday, February 23, 2013 at the InterContinental Chicago O’Hare. Over 500 guests including parents, staff, board of trustees, and friends of the Cove community attended this inspirational event. This year’s silent auction raised nearly $60,000, the live auction $92,500, and the special appeal $115,500. The dollars raised through the special appeal will go directly towards expanding key programs at the school such as: Health and Fitness; Technology; Transition and Placement Services; Financial Assistance; and, Professional Development. Additionally, over a dozen Cove students sold buttons to attendees to play a Heads or Tails Game which generated $11,206 for Cove need-based tuition scholarships. Prior to the event, Cove held it’s first ever online auction “Time with Teachers.” This auction gave all Cove parents the opportunity to bid on unique activities their child could do with Cove staff members. This auction raised over $4,465. All together on that evening, the 2013 Cove benefit raised nearly $407,000.

Cove parents Margie and Joel Kosmicki, featured in the benefit video, told the story of their son Max and his transformation after coming to Cove.
This year’s silent auction raised over $59,000.
ThE paddle raise that followed the Live Auction was the most successful in Cove history, raising over $115,500 for the school. We are grateful to each and every donor who supported this effort. Thank you!
