An Exploration of Line and Form

Looking back twenty years ago, I started to utilize wax in my oil paintings from there was the transition to encaustic paintings, I found the tactile surface of encaustic works enticing. From my first encaustic painting (Constructure 1) I wanted to translate the technique of crosshatching from my pen and ink sketches into dimensional paintings.

Over the years incorporating this technique of crosshatch line work with encaustic became my signature style.

Creating dimensional type paintings led to my further exploration into sculpture, carving forms from 100 year old barn beams. The works are then painted with encaustic or acrylics.

I continue to paint with encaustic and have been working with acrylics as well, lately I have been exploring abstracted head forms with oil, wax and spray paint that I see as part of my sculpture series of works.
