Cannabis over Cover girl Meet the woman who chose a career in the cannabis industry over a career in modelling. She had a promising modelling career in Barcelona, Spain however, now she is a successful, innovative entrepreneur in the cannabis industry in Amsterdam. She runs her own coffee shop, seed bank and cannabis restaurant. She usually keeps a low profile and asked ‘Weed All About It’ that only her first name, Maria, to be used when we share her story. Maria’s coffee shop is unlike any other, the interior of the establishment creates an atmosphere of luxury and refinement and as she owns her own seed bank, when consumers purchase weed from her coffee shop they can be completely certain of which strain they’re getting. That kind of reliability is exceptional in a country where the commercial cultivation of cannabis is still illegal. Her cannabis restaurant offers a whole new experience to marijuana lovers. Maria has pioneered cannabis infused fine-dining in an effort to elevate the perception of weed through mainstream media. The dinners hosted at her cannabis restaurant include fine wine, music, art in order to entertain guests while serving them high quality dishes infused with CBD and THC.
Her business is booming, but does she miss her old career and lifestyle? “I do and I don’t, I would love to be a part of creative shoots but the whole reason I decided to escape from the modelling industry is because there are too many boundaries. There is little to no room for error or individuality, I felt like I couldn’t be my own person and express myself in a way I wanted to.” Maria said. She expressed that she prefers her new lifestyle, “I am much happier working in the cannabis industry, it is such a different lifestyle, I feel free. Everything is much more chill and it is a lovely community. It is good to see customers experience a different take on marijuanna in my restaurant too.” How are the edibles different to smoking weed? Maria said “It is a whole different experience. To be a cannabis edibles chef I require more than the ability to cook and bake. It also takes an understanding of how to infuse marijuana into food in quantities that are legal and pleasurable while using methods that don’t create an overwhelming marijuana flavor.”

Legalisation of cannabis in the UK could be coming in the near future
Whatever you want to call it, the cannabis culture is becoming more and more widely accepted throughout society. In the UK cannabis is ranked as a class B drug which can get you up to 5 years in prison for possession. However, as laws liberalise and more people are educated on the health benefits of the drug, the full legalisation of cannabis in the UK could be coming in the near future and the industry could be massive.
The legalisation of cannabis in the UK would bring in tourism increase tax revenues, create new jobs and income and most importantly tackle drug violence -especiallyin London. After legalising cannabis, Colorado made $2.6 billion from tourists coming to visit the state for its offering of legal cannabis. Amsterdam is a popular, thriving tourist destination, and one of the reasons it attracts tourists from all across the globe is due to the fact cannabis is legal in the city.

Of course, there are employees who work in the coffeeshops but there is much more going on behind the scenes in the cannabis industry that not everyone is aware of. Interested in a job in the exciting cannabis industry, which is finally gaining respect for its role in helping people relax and enjoy themselves more as well as ease medical symptoms, here are some jobs to consider... The joint, as they say, is jumping.

One by one more countries have legalised cannabis and the industry is booming. Smoking weed is more common than ever before – especially in the celebrity world, it is no longer taboo. Youcanbetthattherearetour buses, music studios, movie trailers and video sets filled with that distinct musky scent at this very moment in time. Nowadays you would be surprised by the amount of people who actually smoke weed and it seems like everybody is fascinated in knowing which celebrities do. Talking about celebrities smoking marijuana, your mind wouldn’t immediately jump to politicians. However, in Barack Obama’s biography, Obama is described to be a part of “The Choom Gang” during his college days. ‘Choom’ being a term to describe cannabis. He would hang out with his basketball-playing friends and smoke weed. His friends from The Choom Gang noted that he would often elbow his way into the group who were smoking a joint and shout ‘Intercepted!’ before taking the joint for a toke himself.
Another celeb which most people wouldn’t see coming is Cameron Diaz as she seems so conservative. Not only does she smoke weed but she smokes weed with her close friend Drew Barrymore. Diaz and Snoop Dogg actually attended the same high school as Snoop Dogg, who was actually her weed dealer! Lady Gaga admitted, in her Netflix Documentary, "Gaga: Five Foot Two," that cannabis helps her deal with pain caused by her muscular disorder – fibromyalgia. She also said that it helps her cope with the stress that comes with living her life in the spotlight.

“I have to be high to be creative.” During one of her episodes of ’60 Minutes” she also mentioned that she smokes weed when writing music as it helps to stimulate her creative process. Zayn Malik, former One Direction member also believes that cannabis helps him be creative and manage his anxiety. In an interview with Charlotte Edwardes he said “Some people say it kills your ambition, some people say it destroys your personality, personally I haven’t had any of them experiences yet.”
