George Frederick Thomas

George is a 27-year-old Brish arst who started his career working at town markets in the countryside of England. His passion for art and for Brazil has since led to him wading across the predatory waters of the Amazon River. Nowhere is off-limits for this oil painter passionate about adventure. George made his first trip to Brazil in 2014, when he was 19 years old. It was a trip full of surprises that made this young man and arst fall in love with our beloved homeland returning 5 more mes, traveling all over the naonal territory and having the opportunity to visit unusual and beauful places, creang memoriesand making many friends who gave him inspiraon to start creang his biggest exhibiontodate.

George tells us one of his most memorable stories, whenhearrivedforaweek'sstaywiththe Macuxi indigenous tribe. According to him, it was in the middle of the night, not just darkness made it impossible to see the mountains covered with tropicalforestsintheregion, butalsoledtoacase

of mistaken identy when a friendly creature came to greet him as soon as it arrived. “I thought it was a dog,” remembers George. ‘‘But its fur was hard and different’’, then he realized that it was not a dog, but a capybara. Two cute indigenous local girls, had kindly rescued the animal from a nearby river, where it has been abandoned and becoming an easy prey for predators in the region. The Macuxi tribe liked the animal so much they decidedtokeepitpermanently.

The two sisters Yamile and Doane, and their domescated capybara Nina are now the subject of an extremely delicate and charming portrait. However, having accumulated six visits to the country in eight years, the arst has many more painngs of his me exploring natural beauty and the magnificent of Brazil. George told ABA Mag that, among his adventures, he has crossed the waters alligator-infested areas in the Amazon with his art kit on his head, but he also took advantage of his stay to relax on the golden sands of Copacabana beach. He also has visited the countryside of São Paulo, the warm city of Teresina Piauí, and the beauful beaches of Maranhão. He says the country has provided him an inexhausble source of inspiraon Even with condions of painng less hospitable than he was used to, scorching sun, mosquitoes and ants bing hisankleswhilepainng, thearstwasseducedby ourBrazil.

The group uses the Theater as a means to disseminate Cordel Literature, and from it to create scenic and musical materialies, adding elements of popular culture in the Brazilian Northeast, such as musical rhythms, customs, mannerisms and clothing, thus creang shows that can at the same me me to entertain and experience a bit of the cordel universe. YANOMANI AND US: A PACT FOR LIFE

The great humanist arsts do not omit themselves. They make their Art also an instrument of warning against social injusces of any kind. By the way, Graciliano Ramos, a famous Brazilian writer, already said: “Any novel is social. Even ivory literature is a social work. The mere fact that it tries to keep other problems at bay is a proof ofsocialstruggle.”

Yes, because Art cannot be reduced to aesthec pleasure, to momentary enjoyment. It goes way beyond! As a form of expression, individual or collecve, it should be an instrument of awareness about the problems that afflict Humanity. And throughout our History there have always been daring, sensive, human arsts. They also made and sll make their arsc manifestaons a voice of compassion. It is worth menoning that in several circumstances of our History, the only way to make some manifestaons was through metaphors, ficons, as well as all arsc modalies.

And we are so proud of our great arsts. Blessed Art that opens our eyes, that immortalizes moments in the history of peoples, summarizing in onevoicewhateveryonewouldliketoexpress. This isthesocialfunconofartandliterature.

Our MPB - Brazilian Popular Music - which also has an educaonal purpose, it´s much more than a mere commercial product for immediate consumpon and has always had its role, with the power of social and polical denouncement as well!

From this point of view, I would like to menon an album released in 1990. That's right, 33 years ago! If you check it out, you'll see that the 7th track from the TXAI album, which was totally focused on indigenous themes, already announced a warning about the drama experienced by the Yanomami people since then. In other words, for decades! And this also applies to other indigenous

communies, such as the Guarani-Kaiowá in Mato GrossodoSul.

Unfortunately, the history repeats itself but there are a lot of people who haven't listened or pretend not to listen to it. Even worse, there are others who talk about God, about Christ, all the me, but are incapable of praccing love and compassion.

However, the poets, the true ones, not infrequently, arevisionaryprophets!

Dear Milton Nascimento, how proud and grateful we are of you! We really thank you for this human and compassionate message. We also say sorryfornotlisteningtoyou!

Maybe we should listen to that song again. And in doing so, may we actually should look at each other with more love, empathy, solidarity, compassion! Let`s remember what the great and immortal Van Gogh said: “Try to understand what thearstssay, theseriousmasters, intheirartwork, asintheirartworkthereisGod!”

The bread that feeds us today is the same bread thatwasfedcenturiesago. Linking the past and future, we are gied in the presentwithasolidandstable food, which despite its variaons and embellishmentshasnotbeenlostin me. Otherwise, in its simplicity reveals its constancyandpermanence.

Balanced, moderate and perennial, bread is perhaps the most universal and embracing food. I dare to say that, possibly, it is present in every house that exists, has existed and will exist. (Or, at least, it should.)

Easter refers to bread and its symbols. Or is it the bread that reminds us of Easter? Jesus once said, “I am the bread of life… I am the living bread that came down from heaven If anyone eats this bread, he will live forever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give for thelifeoftheworld.”(Mahew6:48and51). JesusisEaster'sbread.

THE POWER OF HERBS IN YOUR LIFE

From a very early age, I learned the benefits of herbs in my life and I use the importance of staying connected with the cosmos to send what we need to the universe and work with that energysothattheuniverseresponds.

Herbs play an important role in this journey, they align us, reconnect us with our Higher Self, serve to balance and renew the body's energies. In this way, they promote physical and mental relaxaon. However, there are those who use the pracce to cure physical illnesses in a more natural way, and itworksinanunbelievableway.

There are several types of baths, such as a flushing bath, which serves to clean the magnec field and eliminate astral larvae that magnecally aach themselves to the aura. Combining the baths with the Energy Table where we transmute dense energy is a perfect combinaon, you eliminate and rebalance yourself with greater speed. The table works on a conscious and unconscious level, making

The importance of art in the Youth World

Contact with art is important in anyone's life,

especially in the educaon of children and adolescents Art expands the knowledge and sensibility of the individual, making him/her more creave, dynamic and autonomous for other situaons and tasks of life, inserted in the context ofsociety.

Every human being is born creave. And the child manifests this creavity in a way spontaneously, without myths and prejudices, in the first years of life, unl the beginning of the process educaon, when, then, this spontaneity begins to be impaired, in favor of formal learning. This does not only occur at school, but in the family itself, if parents do not have the sensivity to understand the importance of art in the formaon of their children.

Even if the child is not going to pursue an arsc career in the future, the pracce of arsc acvies, such as drawing, painng and the visual

arts in general, at this stage of life will, without a doubt, contribute to her becoming a more sensive andcreaveadult.

You can even claim that your child already does art in school. Really, there are good and few schools developing interesng work in art. But the main objecve of these schools is formal educaon andnotconstrucvetraining.

It is necessary to understand that the child's processes are more important than the "producon Final". Therefore, there should be no expectaonsorchargesforamazingresults.FromtheInthe same way, one should not overesmate any doodle thatthechildmakes.

Cordel Literature is a popular Brazilian literary genre, oen wrien in a rhyming fashion, spawned from oralaccountsandthenprintedinbrochures.

O DESCOBRIMENTO

Aprendidos no viver

Ganha toda raça humana

Da floresta a vida mundana

Pela troca de saber
