Dear readers and friends This edition ‘‘tastes’’ like birthday. Yes, seven years ago the Associação Brasileira dos Artistas e Artesãos, ABA was born and has been fulfilling its purpose of supporting its artists and artisans since then.

There were numerous events including workshops, talent shows, music, dances, lectures and so many artists we have supported for when they had just arrived in foreign lands with the dream of making a living from their art.

Today, with more than 100 products in its virtual store, ABA grows and multiplies, taking art, culture, handicraft and book fairs to a higher level, Stories of resilience and testimonies of professionals who believed in their ideals, fought and achieved their goals are our inspiration to keep doing what we do.

It is with great pride that I invite you to be part of this great family.

Who we are

he Brazilian Associa on of Ar sans and Guests was founded in 2016, in the United Kingdom to serve as a facilita ng tool and strengthen the category of resident ar sans and ar sts in Wales, England, Northern Ireland and Scotland.

The Associa on is open to all art lovers and offers free membership.

The A.B.A is a non-profit organiza on, and all funds raised through events and dona ons are to maintain the projects whose purpose is to promote and offer opportuni es for all ar sts through cultural projects such as the adult and children's literacy week,presen al art and cra s fairs, vernissages, fashion shows, music and dance fes vals, lectures on entrepreneurship and mo va on, virtual art fairs, workshops of cra s and pain ng on canvas for children and adults and an On-Line Store where member can enjoy their own virtual showcase for marke ng their products.

Anna França: Re-star ng my life over at age 43 in a foreign country, with family, parrot and parakeet (as we say in Brazil) along restar ng my academic studies again.

Anna França: I have several but I would say, Ariano Suassuna and Augusto Boal.

ABA Mag: Who was your favorite teacher?

Anna França: My fi h grade teacher Lúcia was the one who showed me the Scenic Language, which I haven't let go of since then.

ABA Mag: What do you like most about your job?

Anna França: Through community plays in theaters, I provide the path of empowerment for the oppressed people ABA Mag: What projects are underway and what are the good news for 2023?

Anna França: My main project is my PhD course. Among the good news is the project that I am developing between Brazil and Portugal en tled “Nos Caminhos do Cordel”, where I seek to bring Brazilian Cordel Literature to the cradle of Iberian origin, through plays in theaters.

of mistaken iden ty when a friendly creature came to greet him as soon as it arrived. “I thought it was a dog,” remembers George. ‘‘But its fur was hard and different’’, then he realized that it was not a dog, but a capybara. Two cute indigenous local girls, had kindly rescued the animal from a nearby river, where it has been abandoned and becoming an easy prey for predators in the region.

The Macuxi tribe liked the animal so much they decided to keep it permanently.

eorge is a 27-year-old Bri sh ar st who started his career working at town markets in the countryside of England.

His passion for art and for Brazil has since led to him wading across the predatory waters of the Amazon River. Nowhere is off-limits for this oil painter passionate about adventure. George made his first trip to Brazil in 2014, when he was 19 years old. It was a trip full of surprises that made this young man and ar st fall in love with our beloved homeland returning 5 more mes, traveling all over the na onal territory and having the opportunity to visit unusual and beau ful places, crea ng memories and making many friends who gave him inspira on to start crea ng his biggest exhibi on to date.

George tells us one of his most memorable stories, when he arrived for a week's stay with the Macuxi indigenous tribe. According to him, it was in the middle of the night, not just darkness made it impossible to see the mountains covered with tropical forests in the region, but also led to a case

The two sisters Yamile and Doane, and their domes cated capybara Nina are now the subject of an extremely delicate and charming portrait. However, having accumulated six visits to the country in eight years, the ar st has many more pain ngs of his me exploring natural beauty and the magnificent of Brazil. George told ABA Mag that, among his adventures, he has crossed the waters alligator-infested areas in the Amazon with his art kit on his head, but he also took advantage of his stay to relax on the golden sands of Copacabana beach. He also has visited the countryside of São Paulo, the warm city of Teresina Piauí, and the beau ful beaches of Maranhão. He says the country has provided him an inexhaus ble source of inspira on. Even with condi ons of pain ng less hospitable than he was used to, scorching sun, mosquitoes and ants bi ng his ankles while pain ng, the ar st was seduced by our Brazil.

GRES: Carnival Parade is a card game where your objec ve is to create the best samba school parade. To do this, you must combine the cards in a way that accumulates the most points.

The game is divided into two phases. In the first phase, you collect the cards and match them the best you can. This phase ends when the first player requests for score coun ng, APURAÇÃO. Players will show their parades (reveal their cards) and the points will be counted. The player with the most points wins. Be careful! You lose valuable points if it rains during your parade or your "Barracão" (carnival art studio) burns down. But you can also be lucky and get some money from unconven onal sources or have a li le help from biased judges. So, prepare your strategy and make a carnival parade to remember!

Anna França and Rogério Almeida Artists from Depois das Cinco Group

G

Popular Cultures 2017 – Edi on Leandro Gomes de Barros. In addi on, the group carried out several projects of access to culture, with the support of FAC - Fundo de Apoio a Cultura do Distrito Federal, where it could take the experience with Cordel to communi es in rural areas and on the outskirts of the city of Brasília.

For these projects, the group had very important partnerships, such as the ABLC – Academia Brasileira de Literatura de Cordel, the late poet Arievaldo Viana, and the plas c ar st Valderio da Costa, who has been tracing the visual iden ty of the group's works focused on Cordel Literature. In addi on to works aimed at Cordel, the group has a good repertoire of shows, such as the monologues “Cinco Minutes” and “Memories of Me”, the musicals “Simbora Menino” and “O Sumiço da Pandeirola”, by the scenic musical band Tumba La Catumba.

Anna França and Rogério Almeida are currently living in Portugal, in the city of Évora, where Anna did her Masters in Theater at the University of Évora and, con nuing her studies, started her PhD in History of Art, also at the same university. In Portugal, the group con nues to disseminate Cordel Literature, par cipa ng in literary events, such as Palavras Andarilhas and Passa a Palavra, as well as con nuing its research, this me in the Iberian roots of Cordel Literature, tracing parallels, notes that link and differ what Cordel Literature was and what became in Brazil, and especially its rela onship with Teatro Popular.

The group has also worked in the audiovisual produc on of cultural projects, such as Carriers of Art and Musicians.

rupo A er das Cinco is a mul disciplinary cultural group, with a repertoire ranging from Performing Arts, Music, Audiovisual and Brazilian Popular Culture. The group began its trajectory in 2007, when the newly formed actresses Anna França and Lívia Maria, with the musician Rogério Almeida, decided to put on a storytelling show based on Brazilian Cordel Literature, en tled “Cordel para Crianças”.

Since then, the group has been deepening its research on this important aspect of Brazilian Popular Literatu-re, its Iberian origins, the transforma ons over me, and its importance as an element in the construc on of knowledge of the Brazilian popula on, mainly in the northeast region.

The group uses the Theater as a means to disseminate Cordel Literature, and from it to create scenic and musical materiali es, adding elements of popular culture in the Brazilian Northeast, such as musical rhythms, customs, mannerisms and clothing, thus crea ng shows that can at the same me me to entertain and experience a bit of the cordel universe. The group's work on the dissemina on of Cordel Literature has already been awarded twice, once for the “Prémio Mais Cultura de Literatura de Cordel Pata va do Assaré 2010”, and

he great humanist ar sts do not omit themselves. They make their Art also an instrument of warning against social injus ces of any kind. By the way, Graciliano Ramos, a famous Brazilian writer, already said: “Any novel is social.

Even ivory literature is a social work. The mere fact that it tries to keep other problems at bay is a proof of social struggle.”

Yes, because Art cannot be reduced to aesthe c pleasure, to momentary enjoyment. It goes way beyond! As a form of expression, individual or collec ve, it should be an instrument of awareness about the problems that afflict Humanity. And throughout our History there have always been daring, sensi ve, human ar sts. They also made and s ll make their ar s c manifestaons a voice of compassion. It is worth men oning that in several circumstances of our History, the only way to make some manifesta ons was through metaphors, fic ons, as well as all ar s c modali es.

And we are so proud of our great ar sts.

Blessed Art that opens our eyes, that immortalizes moments in the history of peoples, summarizing in one voice what everyone would like to express. This is the social func on of art and literature.

Our MPB - Brazilian Popular Music - which also has an educa onal purpose, it´s much more than a mere commercial product for immediate consump on and has always had its role, with the power of social and poli cal denouncement as well!

From this point of view, I would like to men on an album released in 1990. That's right, 33 years ago! If you check it out, you'll see that the 7th track from the TXAI album, which was totally focused on indigenous themes, already announced a warning about the drama experienced by the Yanomami people since then. In other words, for decades! And this also applies to other indigenous 20

OUR DAILY BREAD Flour, water and salt.

Easter refers to bread and its symbols. Or is it the bread that reminds us of Easter? Jesus once said, “I am the bread of life… I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats this bread, he will live forever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.” (Ma hew 6:48 and 51).

Jesus is Easter's bread.

Bread as food. Bread as a symbol.

Unleavened bread. Levitated bread.

Bread as a rite.

The bread that feeds us today is the same bread that was fed centuries ago.

Linking the past and future, we are gi ed in the present with a solid and stable food, which despite its varia ons and embellishments has not been lost in me. Otherwise, in its simplicity reveals its constancy and permanence.

Like a loaf of bread, he was broken and delivered.

But he is risen and lives.

Easter reminds us that the Bread of Life feeds, sustains and sa sfies us, just like our daily bread.

he born in Brazil, in the state of Minas Gerais, where she lived her childhood, surrounded by rich culinary tradi ons, with rich of flavor, from the region where she was born and lived. She also discovered a passion for arts and cra s when she was s ll small and dreamed of having her own business. She was feeding this dream; seeking knowledge and learning. She started like that when she was s ll a teenager, walk in search of arts, cra s and cuisine. She always did everything with a lot of dedica on and love. With this, she began to stand out in the events she par cipated. Family and friends always requested her services, and the desire to do the best always mo vated her to seek more and more.

Studying at the Faculty of Tourism, where there is a variety of segments that can be worked, she opted for events segmenta on, where she became professional. She came to occupy a prominent posi on in event tourism, in the municipal government of her city. From there, she opened the way for the promo on of major events.

She opened her tablecloth decora on and manufacturing services company in 1994 and was

dis nguished by the quality and good taste, accompanied by art, in the pieces she produced. She connued to train herself and seek new techniques and knowledge, as she does to this day. With this long journey and a wealth of experience, she migrated to the UK, se led in, opened the company Fuxico, with the purpose of offering its services to those who seek quality and refinement.

Pu ng art into everything she does, she currently offers her services of canapes buffet, full table of sweets and desserts, boxes of tradi onal sweets, truffles and chocolates for gi s, gourmet desserts, sequilas and many delights. Following the decorated and elegant table line, it also offers its table linen items, in a line tablecloths, placemats, sousplat, napkins, napkin holders and various house decora on.

Among so many projects that she idealizes, there is the cookbook, where she reports her experience with Minas Gerais delicacies an Brazilian cuisine, which will be launched soon and also the courses that will be given, in the very near future. Art, refinement, quality, love for what she does, dedica on and professionalism are the hallmarks of this name.

med of, I went from cleaner to the corporate world and today I have my own business.

It was through Body Psychotherapy (BP) that everything in my life began to make total sense. This process of self-discovery is revolu onizing the lives of thousands of people, even transformed mine and I can prove it. Through BP you will understand your feelings, thoughts and a tudes.

BP consists of unveiling your MIND by the shape of your BODY. That's right, that's it! The shape of your body carries your story, good or bad, and I can do that body reading and guide you to live your life fully.

We have 5 traits' characters present in our mind and body and they (traits) command our life without us even realizing it. Knowing this you learn to make be er decisions, solve problems and important issues with more awareness.

You learn to make deals with your unique way of being. You're who you need to be!

You just need to know how to get the most out of it.

ne day I came across aimlessly, without opinion and self-love, without peace in the heart, without a profession that made me happy and fulfilled, without financial stability, without family structure, not knowing where to start over and thinking I was too old to try something new. I must tell you that it was just the most difficult me that I had to make a final decision to really change my life.

Exactly at this point I would like to point out to you who thinks life is very difficult and yet you cannot get out of place. You're probably heading into the same situa on I've experienced, holding and wai ng to the worst to happen and stay out of control to act and recognize that you need professional support. I waited to get to rock bo om to start looking at myself, be my priority, value my principles and my personal and professional dreams.

I was introduced to Body Psychotherapy in 2020 and thought "my God, I need to learn and apply this method to other people," I thought, "the world needs to know that." My life story is too long and I hope to tell it in another opportunity. At the age of 41 I made another career transi on and now I'm happy and fulfilled, doing what I always drea-

arts in general, at this stage of life will, without a doubt, contribute to her becoming a more sensi ve and crea ve adult.

You can even claim that your child already does art in school. Really, there are good and few schools developing interes ng work in art. But the main objec ve of these schools is formal educa on and not construc ve training.

It is necessary to understand that the child's processes are more important than the "producon Final". Therefore, there should be no expectaons or charges for amazing results. From the In the same way, one should not overes mate any doodle that the child makes.

ontact with art is important in anyone's life, especially in the educa on of children and adolescents. Art expands the knowledge and sensibility of the individual, making him/her more crea ve, dynamic and autonomous for other situa ons and tasks of life, inserted in the context of society.

Every human being is born crea ve. And the child manifests this crea vity in a way spontaneously, without myths and prejudices, in the first years of life, un l the beginning of the process educa on, when, then, this spontaneity begins to be impaired, in favor of formal learning. This does not only occur at school, but in the family itself, if parents do not have the sensi vity to understand the importance of art in the forma on of their children.

Easter Recipes Cod fish prepara on: 1- Cook the codfish in a pan with water un l covered, over medium heat for 10-15 minutes. The codfish will be ready when the flakes separate easily; 2- Drain the water and when it is warm, remove the thorns and skins. Set aside; 3- Cook the eggs very firm, peel, cut into slices and set aside; 4- Wash the vegetables and prepare them by peeling the potatoes and onions and removing the stems and seeds from the peppers; 5- Cut all the vegetables into slices, including the tomato; 6- Boil the potato slices over high heat, to speed up cooking when it goes into the oven; 7- Drain the potatoes and place them in a baking dish or clay pot (as tradi on dictates) or if you don't have , any baking dish of your choice, well greased with olive oil; 8- Season with salt and pepper to taste and put a drizzle of olive oil on top; 9- Arrange the codfish in slices on top of the potatoes, garnish with slices of egg, tomatoes, onions and peppers on top and around it; 10- Drizzle with plenty of olive oil, black pepper and salt to taste and cover with aluminum foil; 11- Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C for 20-30 minutes; 12- A er the indicated me, remove the foil and leave the codfish in the oven for 10 minutes, just to brown; 13- Decorate with olives and chopped green smell; 14- Enjoy your meal!

BACALHOADA Ingredients: - 1 kilo of medium potatoes; - 800 grams of cod in slices; - 3 medium onions; - 4 medium tomatoes; - 1 red pepper; - 1 green pepper; - 1 yellow pepper; - 4 eggs; - 1 cup of extra virgin olive oil; -1 cup of olives; - Chopped green smell to taste; - Black pepper to taste; - Ssalt to taste.

Cod fish prepara on: 1- Wash the cod under running water, to remove the salt; 2- Place the cod in pieces in a basin with water, with the skin facing upwards, un l covered; 3- Place the codfish in the refrigerator, changing the water 3 to 4 mes throughout the day, for 2 days.

Note: To desalt cod fish from normal slices, 1 day is enough. For thick posts, 2 days are needed A er
