Hello, My name is Aaron Cloonan. I am studying Architectural Technology at Atlantic Technological University, Galway and I am in my second year of my four-year course. My goal is to apply modern building and sustainable practices to create functional and aesthetically pleasing environments. I am ambitious and detail-orientated. I enjoy turning design concepts into buildable and precise technical solutions. This portfolio contains my resume and showcases samples of my selected projects from last year this year. Thank you very much for taking a look!

The garden room project was our first big project in this course. A big focus on this project was to ensure that the garden room was achieving its appropriate U-Value and to display its build-up using sections of each part of the structure. Most of the work for this project was hand drawn, so graphics was very important for this project.

2. Semi-Detached House Project

Ground Floor Plan

First Floor Plan

The goal of this project was to successfully make plans, detailed sections, renders, a site plan and implement the relevant services to ensure that the house was to be compliant with Irish regulations. Shown here are the final general arrangement plans and sections of the semi-detached house, annotating the relevant regulations for the house. This project was done with BIM/CAD and Architectural Technologies & Services modules.

As part of the house project, I made details showing the build-ups and specifications of the materials that would be used in the proposed house, which I made and learned with the module BIM/CAD. It was important to make sure that the house was compliant with Irish guidelines. These details were created on different parts of the house, so the builders would know exactly how it is put together. As part of another assignment, I drew and rendered elevations of the house using Morpholio Trace, which I learned in my spare time. Once the Revit model and section details were complete, I made a model shown below to give an accurate representation on how the plans looked from an outside perspective.

Shown above is a site plan for my house project. The main objective of this was the map out how the proposed building connects, fits and functions with its specific plot of land. As seen with house No. 15, it displays the water drainage layout, dimensions and the environment around the dwelling. This site plan was then used to assist me in the making of the renders on Lumion, where I used the dimensions to create an environment on Revit, which was connected to Lumion, creating an accurate representation of what the building would look like after it's been built.
