Hiram Ball // 1946-2020 Master sculptor Hiram Ball was a Signature Member of AAPL. After a long career living and working in Pittsburgh, Hiram retired to Cape Cod where he continued his passion for figurative sculpting. He was self-taught, taking workshops and studying anatomy books to perfect his skills. Hiram was a proud member of the National Sculpture Society in NY, Cultural Center of Cape Cod, Cape Cod Museum of Art, Cotuit Center For The Arts, PAAM, The Beachcombers, and Paul Schulenburg’s “Wednesday Painting Group“, as the sole sculptor. The culmination of his sculpting career was a solo exhibition, “Hiram Ball: Master of Media” at the Cape Cod Museum of Art, which now holds one of his bronze relief sculptures in its permanent collection.

Donald R. Biehn // 1942-2022 Donald Biehn was a successful freelance illustrator, art director, and gifted artist. Don was an active participant in studio drawing groups, art crawls, corporate exhibits, and gallery shows. Upon retirement, Don immersed himself in watercolor and plein air oil painting. He received awards in local, regional, and national juried art shows. In addition to being an Associate member of the AAPL, he was a Signature Member of the American Impressionist Society, Oil Painters of America, and the American Society of Marine Artists.

Jack Garver // 1925-2021 Internationally-renowned watercolorist and World War II veteran Jack Garver was an AAPL Elected Artist Member since 2013. Jack also had memberships in many regional organizations, including the American Watercolor Society, Salmagundi Club New York, New England Watercolor Society, Pennsylvania Watercolor Society, Taos National Society of Watercolorists, the Watercolor USA Honor Society, and The Artists’ Fellowship. Throughout his life, he passed his art knowledge on through teaching both studio courses and art history. His paintings won many awards in national and international competitions and appeared in many national art publications, including two feature articles in American Artist Magazine.

Alexander Masyk // 1947-2022 In addition to being an Elected Artist Member of AAPL since 2019, Alexander Masyk, MFA, was a Resident Artist of the Salmagundi Club in New York, a member of the Oil Painters of America; and an elected member of Allied Artists of America, Impressionist Society of America, Audubon Artists, and the National Union of Ukrainian Artists. He was an Associate member of the Pastel Society of America.

Sharon Way-Howard // 1952-2022 An AAPL member since 2007, Sharon Way-Howard was the first woman to chair the art committee of the Salmagundi Club and served on the board of directors. She was also an Associate member of the Pastel Society of America; an elected member of Academic Artists, Audubon Artists, and a US Coast Guard Artist.

Nydia Preede // 1926-2021 Nydia Preede’s work reflected a background in psychology, fine art, and applied and technical art. She held a BA and MA in teaching and was certified to teach art on secondary and adult levels. She was a Fellow Member of AAPL since 1990, and member of the AAPL board for many years. Ms. Preede used traditional and innovative techniques and media to explore contemporary concepts with realism, symbolism, and abstraction, often in a series. Ms. Preede’s work has been seen worldwide in galleries, art centers, and museums, and have won awards, and appeared in four books. Her work is included In private and public collections.
