As Alabama A&M University approaches its 150th anniversary, we have much to celebrate and even more to achieve. For 150 years, we have proudly stood as a beacon of strength and opportunity, nurturing generations of leaders who have shaped our communities, our country, and our world. Now, as we honor our Rich Heritage, we must look toward a Bold Future that secures Alabama A&M’s place as a premier institution for the next century and beyond.

To make this vision a reality, we are launching the Alabama A&M University 150th Anniversary Campaign with a goal of raising $150 million. This campaign is more than a celebration—it’s an opportunity to ensure our university continues to thrive for generations to come. I am asking you not only to get involved today but to elevate your commitment and stay involved as we journey toward this Bold Future together.

Why Now? Why This Campaign?

The 150th Anniversary Campaign is about preparing for a Bold Future that reflects our greatest aspirations. Your support will help us build a state-of-the-art Science Building that will position our students at the forefront of STEM education, enabling groundbreaking discoveries that will shape the world. It will also fund the creation of a dynamic Student Amenities Building, a vibrant hub for collaboration, innovation, and community.

Additionally, we will replace our historic Pedestrian Bridge, which has served our campus for nearly 80 years, with a modern structure that reflects our forward momentum and commitment to safety and unity. We are also focused on significant upgrades to our athletic facilities, including a renovation of our football stadium, to provide our student-athletes with the resources they need to excel.

Importantly, this campaign will allow us to expand our scholarship funding, ensuring Alabama A&M remains accessible to talented students, regardless of their financial circumstances. With over 70% of our students qualifying for Pell Grant support and many being the first in their families to attend college, your support can help transform lives and open doors of opportunity.

I am proud to announce that Hall of Famer John Stallworth will serve as the Honorary Chair of this campaign, alongside Chairman Robert Holmes. Their leadership and passion for Alabama A&M embody the spirit of our Rich Heritage and our commitment to a Bold Future.

How Will We Reach Our $150 Million Goal?

Our strategy is comprehensive, relying on a diverse array of funding sources, including research grants and federal and state appropriations, corporate sponsorships, group, organization, and individual donations, in-kind giving, and targeted investments in construction projects and scholarships. Each of these components is vital, and we need the commitment of our entire community to reach our goal.

OUR GOAL: $150 MILLION for the FUTURE OF ALABAMA A&M

BUILDING A BOLD FUTURE for STEM

The construction of a 130,000 square foot, three floor state-of-the-art Science Building (STEM) will nearly triple the university’s academic STEM infrastructure. Alabama A&M University leads the state of Alabama in producing minority STEM graduates and is ranked #3 among HBCUs in producing African American STEM graduates according to “The Hundred-Seven.Org”.

The New Science Building will include advanced laboratories, collaborative research spaces, state-of-the-art classrooms, and lecture halls, providing a world-class environment for both teaching and research. In addition to office spaces, there will be specialty rooms, i.e., storm shelter, hazardous materials, and research prep spaces.

ENHANCING THE AAMU STUDENT EXPERIENCE

$58 MILLION

The new student amenities building will facilitate the university’s ability to accommodate the needs of the growing student population. The 90,000 square foot, three-floor building will include shared community space, classrooms, conference rooms, study spaces, office spaces, service and counselling center, including disability service, veterans service, and mental health counselling. There will also be a food service component and other retail locations with healthy food and snack options, campus stores, and high-speed internet access to enhance the student experience.

ATHLETIC COMPLEX REIMAGINED

As we continue to celebrate the rich legacy and future of Alabama A&M University, we are excited to unveil the newly revitalized entrance to our Louis Crews Stadium. This transformation features striking new columns and beautifully designed colored brick walls, symbolizing our enduring strength and unity.

The upgraded entrance will complement our new state-of-the-art, covered practice facility, a testament to our commitment to providing our athletes with world-class

resources and training environments. These enhancements will not just be just physical changes but a reflection of our Bulldog pride and our relentless pursuit of excellence both on and off the field. For over seven decades, the pedestrian bridge has been a vital link between the main campus and the west side of Alabama A&M University, serving generations of students on their journey to success. As part of our 150th anniversary campaign, we are proud to unveil a new, modern bridge that will carry us into the next 150 years.

This new bridge, illuminated with radiant lights, will shine brightly not only at night but also as a beacon of our commitment to a bold future. It’ll stand as a powerful symbol of our enduring legacy and our unwavering dedication to progress and innovation. The bridge investment is $4.5 Million.

OUR STUDENTS for

At Alabama A&M University, our greatest asset is our students. With over 70% of our students qualifying for some portion of Pell Grant assistance and 52% qualifying for full Pell Grant assistance scholarships are essential to student enrollment; retention, and graduation. Many of our students are the first in their families to attend college, and they rely on financial assistance to help them achieve their dreams.

Your support for scholarships makes an immediate and transformative impact. As we celebrate back-to-back years of record enrollment—6,633 students in 2023 and over 7,000 in 2024—we see more bright and ambitious minds eager to learn, grow, and make their mark on the world. By contributing to scholarship funds, you help bridge the gap for students who might otherwise be unable to pursue higher education.
