Throughout all of my life the Club has been here for me, including my mistakes and downfalls but also my best moments. I owe the fact that I could get through all of that to my family, which includes the Club and its staff. Since I was a kid, the Club has been teaching me self-respect, responsibility, and kindness. Emmitt Smith III is a former NFL running back, where he played 13 seasons with the Dallas Cowboys, two more with the Arizona Cardinals, setting multiple records as he played. He was selected in the first round of the 1990 NFL draft as the 17th overall pick. Among his many NFL achievements, Smith set the records for career rushing touchdowns with 164, rushing attempts with 4,409, and overall rushing with 18,355 yards. Smith is the only NFL running back to date to win a Super Bowl championship, the NFL Most Valuable Player award, the NFL Rushing Crown, and the Super Bowl Most Valuable Player award all in the same season (1993). Smith is also one of only two non-kickers in NFL history to score over 1,000 points in his career. Smith was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2006, then into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2010. Since retiring from professional football, Smith has become a businessman and philanthropist, with his portfolio including real estate developments around the country and a nonprofit founded with his wife Patricia Southall, Pat & Emmitt Smith Charities.
