Aurora Arts Theatre 2024 "The Rocky Horror Show" Playbill
Continuing His Legacy
Ed Chapa was a fiercely passionate man with big aspirations and a love for the arts. What started as a simple thought shared with his wife, Mary, grew into a vision that was realized with the inception of the Aurora. The dream to open a quaint community theater on the Southside of Corpus Christi became a driving force in Ed’s life, and his dedication to the cause served as an inspiration to all he met.
The success of the Aurora lives on as a testament to the strength of his vision and of his faith in the many volunteers and community supporters who gave of their time and hearts as much as he gave of his.

A Note From the Director
When I first considered directing this iconic piece, I knew we were stepping into a world that celebrates rebellion as much as selfexpression. The Rocky Horror Show has always been a space where the outcasts, the bold, and the misunderstood find their voice; a place where everyone can unapologetically let their freak flag fly. And where better for the aliens of Transylvania to land than in a city rich with mystery and legend—New Orleans, the perfect backdrop for our version of Rocky Horror.
As a first-time director, I couldn’t have chosen a more perfect show to dive into. The characters, the music, the energy—everything about Rocky Horror pushes us to break the mold and challenge the status quo, which is exactly what we’ve aimed to do. I’ve been incredibly fortunate to work with an exceptionally talented cast and crew who have poured their hearts and ideas into bringing this outrageous, humorous, and unapologetically bold story to life.
I would like to thank Mary Chapa for allowing us to bring our vision to life and to my entire production team—I’m eternally grateful. I also want to extend my deepest gratitude to our presenting sponsors, Garcia & Richmond, and our friends at AEP and the Rockport Center for the Arts, for their generous support. Lastly, to my assistant director, Laurie Guajardo, thank you for taking on this journey with me and reminding me to trust my instincts, and for pushing me to live the words, “Don’t Dream It. Be It.”
This musical is a celebration of being true to yourself, no matter how strange or different that self may be. It’s about finding your people and embracing the wild, beautiful chaos of life. Whether you’re a die-hard fan or seeing Rocky Horror for the first time, I hope you leave tonight feeling a bit more free, a bit more daring, and with a promise to always be the biggest boldest version of yourself.
