President’s Message Embracing the Season Safely and Generously
Embracing the Season Safely and Generously There is a unique magic to winter in Central Pennsylvania. From the serenity of snow-covered hillsides to the crisp air that invites us to appreciate the comforts of home, it is a season of natural beauty. As the weather and landscape change, however, the conditions around us demand a heightened level of awareness and preparation.
Spirit of Giving
At AAA Central Penn, our priority remains ensuring that you, and those you care for, stay safe, warm, and secure through every winter mile.
Beyond seasonal safety, this time of year naturally turns our hearts toward the spirit of giving. For a truly thoughtful and practical gift, consider sharing the protection and reliability of a AAA Central Penn membership. It is a gift that offers year-round security, ensuring that your family and friends are never stranded on the roadside. For your convenience, you can easily purchase a AAA Gift Membership online at centralpenn.aaa.com and deliver instant peace of mind — an ideal way of gift-giving for busy schedules or long-distance loved ones.
Winter Safety Tips
Everyday Dining Deals
Winter driving safety starts before you hit the road. Cold temperatures can lower tire pressure and weaken batteries, so check your tires, test your battery, and fill your windshield washer reservoir with winter-grade fluid. Keep an emergency kit in your vehicle with essentials such as a shovel, ice scraper, blanket, flashlight, jumper cables, and water.
AAA membership also keeps on giving through everyday savings. AAA Central Penn members have discovered big savings through Dining Deals, and the program is celebrating its first birthday in a big way. In just one year, AAA members nationwide have saved more than $1 million through Dining Deals purchases. Locally, Olive Garden, LongHorn Steakhouse, Applebee’s, Chili’s, and Panera Bread rank among the most popular restaurants for AAA members, with Olive Garden members alone saving AAA members more than $175,000 over the past year. From family dinners to quick lunches, Dining Deals helps stretch your dining budget while supporting your favorite restaurants. Start saving today by visiting AAA.com/ DiningDeals and explore participating locations throughout Central Pennsylvania and beyond.
When driving, be alert for hidden ice and black ice. Slow down, increase your following distance, and give road crews plenty of space to work safely.
Protecting Your Home Safety extends beyond the highway to the comfort of your home. Winter brings seasonal risks, from frozen pipes to heavy snow loads on roofs. Now is the perfect time to review your homeowner’s insurance policy. Understanding your coverage for water damage caused by frozen pipes or melting snow and ice can help prevent unexpected financial hardships. Our AAA Central Penn Insurance Agency team is always here to review your policies, identify potential gaps, and help you ensure your assets are protected throughout the winter season.
Thank you for your continued loyalty and for choosing AAA Central Penn as your trusted partner for savings on the road and at the table. Wishing you a winter season filled with warmth, safe travels, and cherished moments with those who matter most.
Jodie Daubert President/CEO, AAA Central Penn

Good News Stories To Brighten Your Day By: Liv Grace
While this time of year is meant to be merry, it can feel a little tough out there sometimes. Here’s some good news from around the world worth sharing to make your day a little brighter.
Undefeated Champions of Wii Bowling The U.V. Okies, residents of the University Village senior living community, have become six-time champions of their Wii bowling team in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Among the undefeated team are Phyllis Wimer, known as Phyllis Killer; Charlene “the Grasshopper” Giles, whose hop gives her some extra oomph; Marvelous Marcia Ness; and “Rollin’” Ron Demaree.
Fish Get Their Own Doorbell In Utrecht, in the Netherlands, migrating fish often get stuck at a canal lock each spring, leaving them vulnerable to predators. Two ecologists came up with a solution: a fish doorbell. An underwater livestream lets members of the public keep watch for fish gathering at the gates, and when they spot one, they ring the digital doorbell to alert the lock keeper who lets the fish through. The doorbell returns for anyone looking to help on March 1, 2027.
Kids Ride to School Together on a “Bike Bus” Every other Friday during the school year, students of Melrose Elementary School in Massachusetts ride bicycles to school on the “Bike Bus.” Together with their families, students ride along a planned neighborhood route to help encourage active and safe commuting habits across local school districts.
Dear Aliens Dogs Provide Comfort in Busy Train Station At a busy train station in the U.K., three security dogs now patrol the platforms alongside staff. The two cocker spaniels and one Labrador are taking part in a three-month trial meant to offer commuters extra reassurance during the daily rush. It’s the trio’s final assignment before all three pups head into a well-earned retirement.

A pair of writers launched a contest asking humans to draft the one document they’d want aliens to read before landing on Earth. Entries ranged from family stories to jokes to descriptions of a sunset, with the only real rules being a 1,000word limit and English as the language. A panel of authors and scientists judged the submissions, with $2,000 going to the winning entry. While the contest closed in June, the winning entries can be read at dearaliens.net.

Hidden Gems:
Volunteer Opportunities Close to Home By: Doni Lee Fox Looking for a meaningful way to give back? Some of the most rewarding volunteer opportunities in Central Pennsylvania aren’t always the most well-known. We asked a few AAA Central Penn associates to share the local organizations they support and why they keep coming back. Donna Zeigler treating a shelter dog to a day out to meet new friends
Canine Rescue of Central PA
Scouting America
For Donna Zeigler, volunteering with Canine Rescue of Central PA is the perfect way to combine service with her love of animals. A few days each month, she spends an hour or two caring for dogs awaiting adoption.
Andrew Smith gives back each week as a Scout leader, helping young people develop leadership skills, confidence, and a passion for service.
“Every dog deserves a second chance,” says Donna. “Knowing I can help them feel safe, loved, and ready for their forever home makes every visit worthwhile.”
“Watching Scouts grow, learn new skills, and gain confidence is incredibly rewarding,” says Andrew. “It’s an investment in the next generation of community leaders.”
Capital Area Therapeutic Riding Association (CATRA) Sue Guarducci volunteers several times each month at CATRA, helping care for horses that support therapeutic riding programs for individuals with physical, cognitive, and emotional challenges. “The bond between the students and horses at CATRA is something truly special and inspiring to witness,” Sue says. “Even through small tasks like feeding the horses, I’m reminded of the dedication of the students, volunteers, and staff, and that’s what keeps me inspired and involved.”
Andrew Smith serving as a local scout leader
Junior Achievement Amanda Johnson and Ashley Martin volunteer with Junior Achievement, helping students learn about financial literacy, careers, and entrepreneurship. ”Students are eager to learn when they can connect lessons to real life,” Amanda says. ”It’s exciting to help them see what’s possible for their future.“
Sue Guarducci caring for a local therapy horse
Hospice of Central PA Karen Hill volunteers with Hospice of Central PA, spending time with individuals and families during some of life’s most difficult moments. “Being present for someone who needs companionship or support is a simple gift that can mean so much,” Karen shares. “It’s an honor to help bring comfort to people when they need it most.”
”One of the most rewarding parts of volunteering with Junior Achievement was seeing students become excited about their future,” Ashley says. “It was a reminder that sharing our experiences and knowledge can make a lasting impact on the next generation.”
Find Your Cause Whether you’re passionate about animals, youth development, healthcare, education, or the outdoors, there’s a local nonprofit that can benefit from your time and talents. As these AAA Central Penn volunteers have discovered, even a few hours each month can make a lasting difference — for the people and communities being served, and for the volunteers themselves. Toys for Tots: By: Doni Lee Fox
A Tradition of Giving
Since 1947, the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program has helped deliver joy to children during the holiday season. What began as a local toy drive has grown into a nationwide effort that brings hope to millions of children each year. The mission remains simple: collect new, unwrapped toys and distribute them to children who might otherwise go without a gift. Over the decades, the program has evolved to meet changing community needs, but its purpose has never changed — ensuring every child experiences the magic, hope, and excitement of the holidays. Toys for Tots is about more than toys. It reminds children that their community cares and helps families facing difficult circumstances create lasting holiday memories. A single donated toy can spark joy, build confidence, and make a child feel seen and valued. This holiday season, AAA Central Penn is proud to support Toys for Tots. From November 2–28, all 10 AAA Central Penn locations will serve as collection sites for new, unwrapped toys. Members, employees, and community partners are invited to participate and help make a difference for local children.
Together, we can help ensure that every child experiences a brighter holiday season — one toy at a time.
Wreaths Across America:
Remember, Honor, Teach
By: Doni Lee Fox
Each December, communities across the country come together to ensure the sacrifices of our nation’s veterans are never forgotten. Wreaths Across America, a nonprofit organization dedicated to remembering fallen service members, honoring those who serve, and teaching future generations about their sacrifices, coordinates ceremonies at thousands of locations nationwide. This year, National Wreaths Across America Day will be held Saturday, December 19, 2026, when millions of volunteers and supporters gather at more than 5,500 participating locations. Together, they will place veterans’ wreaths and participate in ceremonies that pay tribute to America’s heroes. The organization’s mission centers on three guiding principles: Remember, Honor, and Teach. You can remember a loved one by sponsoring a wreath in their honor or memory, or by sponsoring a wreath for a veteran resting in honored glory. You can honor veterans by volunteering at a local wreath-laying ceremony or supporting community efforts throughout the year. You can teach others by sharing veterans’ stories and encouraging friends, family, coworkers, and organizations to become involved.
As the mission grows, so does the need for support. Every wreath sponsored, volunteer recruited, and story shared helps ensure our veterans are remembered and honored for Winter 2026 AAA Now! | 11 generations to come.

AAA Four Diamond Excellence in Central Pennsylvania By: Doni Lee Fox
When travelers see a AAA Four Diamond designation, they know they’re choosing a destination that delivers an elevated experience. Earning the distinction requires rigorous, unannounced evaluations that assess quality, cleanliness, service, amenities, and overall guest experience. Properties that achieve Four Diamond status represent the upper tier of hospitality, offering refined surroundings, exceptional attention to detail, and memorable service.
In Lancaster County, The Inn at Leola Village blends luxury with history. Originally established as a tobacco farm in 1867, the property was thoughtfully restored into a boutique hotel while preserving many of its historic structures. Since receiving its first Four Diamond Award in 2003, the Inn has become a sought-after destination known for personalized service and timeless charm.
Fortunately, three of these distinguished destinations are located right here in Central Pennsylvania: The Hotel Hershey, The Circular, and The Inn at Leola Village. Opened in 1933, The Hotel Hershey was Milton S. Hershey’s vision to provide employment during the Great Depression while creating a world-class destination overlooking Chocolatetown. Today, the historic property remains one of Pennsylvania’s premier resorts and earned its 45th consecutive AAA Four Diamond Award in 2025.
AAA Central Penn is proud to recognize these outstanding establishments each year. In addition to presenting the Four Diamond Awards, AAA Central Penn provides a $2,000 charitable donation through AAA Cares to each award recipient, allowing them to support a nonprofit organization of their choice and extend their impact beyond hospitality into the communities they serve.
Located within the hotel, The Circular traces its roots to Milton Hershey’s original circular dining room design. Hershey famously wanted every guest to enjoy an excellent view and dining experience, leading to the restaurant’s distinctive shape. Known for its creative cuisine and impeccable service, The Circular has held AAA Four Diamond status for more than three decades.
2026 Community Partners • The Hotel Hershey: Ronald McDonald House Central PA • The Circular: Hershey Food Bank and Community Outreach • The Inn at Leola Village: Pet Pantry of Lancaster County Through exceptional guest experiences and meaningful community giving, these local Four Diamond recipients continue to set the standard for hospitality excellence in Central Pennsylvania.

Taking the Stress Out of Auto Repair
By: Nate Pigott
When most people think of AAA, roadside assistance is the first thing that comes to mind. It’s a great reason to keep that card in your wallet or on your phone — but it’s just one piece of what membership includes. There’s a long list of other benefits that often fly under the radar. Here are 12 worth discovering.
01

02
Stay One Step Ahead of Identity Theft
When your vehicle needs service, AAA Approved Auto Repair (AAR) facilities take the guesswork out of finding a trusted shop. These independently owned repair facilities must meet AAA’s rigorous standards for technician training, customer service, facility appearance, and insurance coverage. AAA also conducts regular inspections and annual reviews to help ensure those standards are maintained. Members receive valuable benefits, including written repair estimates and a warranty of at least 24 months or 24,000 miles on qualifying repairs.
For those of us still trying to keep up with our New Year’s Resolution to exercise more, bicycling is a fun way to raise your heart rate. With AAA, you do not need to worry if you pedal too far from home. AAA membership covers transportation services for riders who have disabled or inoperable bikes. AAA members at all membership levels qualify for AAA roadside assistance for bicycles. You can receive our benefits even if your bike is a rental or loaner from a friend. Note: E-bikes require RV or motorcycle membership coverage.
Of course, AAA keeps you secure on the road, but your membership includes protection beyond your vehicle. ProtectMyID® Essential, powered by Experian®, provides identity theft monitoring at no additional cost to AAA members. The service helps monitor your personal information and can alert you to suspicious activity, giving you added peace of mind in an increasingly digital world. It is another valuable way AAA helps protect you and your family every day.

An Epic Stay at Universal Orlando Resort By: Emily Gnacik
Usually a mouse and castle park girly, I was excited to embark on my first stay at Universal property. While this was (by far) not the first time I had been to Universal Orlando Resort, it was the first of many experiences for me. Upon arrival at Loews Sapphire Falls Resort, I was greeted by an 80-degree day with palm trees, a welcome change to the frigid winter in the Northeast. This resort is the ideal size; everything is so convenient. Honestly, this hotel is beautiful; the public guest areas feel like paradise. There is even a Universal Studios gift shop right across from the concierge, perfect for pre-park or last-minute souvenir shopping. Ahead of checking into my room, I enjoyed a delicious lunch inside the hotel at Amatista Cookhouse. Once ready, I headed to my King Bed Pool View chamber located right off the main lobby. Gorgeous vista alert! Following the beach theme of this hotel, the room made me feel like I was on a tropical getaway. Refreshed after a great night’s sleep, I woke up ready to begin my park day. It’s confession time. I have been looking forward to visiting their new park, Epic Universe, since the day it was announced. I cannot remember the last time I was so jazzed about something. It’s easy to be disappointed when you’ve built something up in your head … but you’ll be surprised and happy to hear I have no notes. Staying on property at Universal meant that I could get into the park an hour early. You know I headed straight to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter — Ministry of Magic to get to Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry. Have you ever wanted to travel back in time to Paris circa the 1920s? Cool … me too. Well, Epic Universe allows you to do this with a touch of magic. The hour-and-ahalf wait in line felt short because I was taking in every single detail of the queue. After experiencing the attraction, I ate at Café L’air De La Sirène. It was so easy to use the app to order, and, since I used the allergy notice, a chef even came out to speak to me … and he was French! I had the most delectable sandwich on an actual gluten-free baguette … 10 points for Gryffindor! Baguette de Dinde at Café L’air De La Sirène

How To Train Your Dragon — Isle of Berk was well done. I chose to try the rollercoaster, Hiccup’s Wing Gliders. It was so cute, immersing you in the Viking lure and allowing you to pass by beloved characters Hiccup and Toothless while enjoying a very thrilling (and smooth) ride. Afterwards, I ducked inside Mead Hall for a refreshing beverage and a chance to get out of the Florida sun.
A Viking and dragon stand watch over the entrance to Isle of Berk Say hello to Mario & Luigi at SUPER NINTENDO WORLD
From here, I headed over to SUPER NINTENDO WORLD. Entering through the famous green pipe and into every gamer’s dream, I was suddenly surrounded by bright colors and cute characters. Utilizing the single-riders line, I was able to bypass the long wait time for Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge. I honestly don’t know what my score was … I was too busy looking at everything around me. Eventually I was able to make my own wish come true and meet Princess Peach outside of her castle … so I guess there was a castle at this park. Next on the list … Dark Universe. Admittedly, this is what I was looking forward to most. As a scaredy-cat who loves Halloween, I’ve never braved the Universal Halloween Horror Nights. Dark Universe, however, is a portal that explores the world of the classic Universal Monsters like Frankenstein’s Monster and his Bride, Dracula, and the Wolfman. It’s just scary enough to satisfy me … but not enough for me to panic! My most anticipated ride, Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment, was SO MUCH FUN! Tip: If you’re easily spooked … don’t go on this ride, as it is not for the faint of heart. If you do, sit on the outside of the four-seater. Another tip: While this portal is exciting during the day, it’s better at night for obvious reasons.
Closing the evening was the nighttime water show in the center of the park. I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention my run-in with Woody Woodpecker the next day in the hotel lobby on my way to CityWalk! What a cute and unexpected photo op! I should also mention how easy it is to get to and from the park’s other destinations. Depending on where you are headed, you can take a bus or a water taxi. It took a lot of guessing out of my first stay and I felt like a pro.
Emily (right) with friends at SUPER NINTENDO WORLD
Universal CityWalk was nothing short of a blast. Celebrating Mardi Gras, I got to don some beads as I was welcomed by two stilt walkers! Then I headed over to Pat O’Briens for a fun time with dueling pianos. Playing classics like “Piano Man” and “Bohemian Rhapsody,” these pianists were nothing short of talented. I even got my own request played … so I naturally sang loudly and lost my voice. This wasn’t well timed as I was on to the karaoke bar next. CityWalk’s Rising Star is not your average venue. If you’re brave enough to put your name in, you get to sing with a live band and backup vocalists. I have wanted to do this for many years. Bucket list item checked! This stay, though only three nights, was one I will remember for the rest of my life. From Wizards and Dragons to Monsters and … Plumbers, Universal Orlando Resort … you got a star!
Just spooky enough: Dark Universe at Epic Universe

The Ultimate Insider’s Guide to Colorado Ski Resorts Carved in Historic Mining Towns
This is the ultimate insider’s guide to Colorado’s historic mining towns turned ski destinations. Jennifer Broome is an avid skier who spends a lot of time in the state’s mountain towns and is considered an expert on exploring Colorado. She shares where to stay, what runs to ski or ride, and where to après-ski and eat in Aspen, Breckenridge, Crested Butte, Steamboat Springs, and Telluride. For the full guide, including shopping and off-the-slopes activities in each town, visit AAA.com/TripCanvas.
By: Jennifer Broome
Aspen Originally named Ute City by the miners who founded it in 1879, the town’s name changed in 1880. Silver mining boomed in the area from Ashcroft to Aspen to Independence until 1893. Today, Aspen attracts celebrities, outdoors enthusiasts, and history buffs. Bask in the epitome of luxury and enjoy ski-in, ski-out access at AAA Five Diamond The Little Nell. Dating back to 1889, the AAA Four Diamond Hotel Jerome, An Auberge Resort has a colorful history of guests from miners to movie stars. At Aspen Snowmass, you get four mountains, four unique ski or ride experiences, and two cool towns. Aspen Mountain, called Ajax by locals, is known for its pitches, glades, and powder stashes for the intermediate and expert skier. Snowmass is known for wide-open, long intermediate groomed runs. Buttermilk has the most diverse terrain and is home to X Games Aspen. Sip some of Aspen’s legendary libations like J-Bar’s Aspen Crud at Hotel Jerome’s J-Bar. I can’t go to Aspen and not eat in the bar at Matsuhisa, an upscale Japanese restaurant.
Breckenridge In 1859, prospectors found gold along the Blue River and the town was founded. In 1887, two prospectors unearthed “Tom’s Baby,” a 13.5-pound gold nugget, the largest piece of gold ever found in the state. Decades later, in 1961, Breckenridge Ski Area opened on Peak 8 and now covers five peaks, home to the highest ski lift in North America. For ski-in, ski-out luxury, stay in the brand-new Grand Colorado on Peak 8. The AAA Three Diamond Residence Inn by Marriott Breckenridge is in a great location in town. Peak 6 is intermediate to expert above tree-line bowl skiing. Peak 8 has ski runs for all levels and some of the best terrain park action in the ski world. Peak 9 is known for its expansive beginner area. Peak 10 is all black diamond runs. Originally opened as Long’s Saloon in 1861, today’s Gold Pan Saloon claims to have the “longest continuous liquor license west of the Mississippi.” Pop into Clint’s Bakery and Deli for a coffee and bagel sandwich, or indulge with the orange Kahlua French toast at BoLD. Crested Butte Originally a supply camp for silver mines in the 1870s, Crested Butte ended up being one of the most productive coal mining towns in the 1880s and 1890s. A ski area opened on Crested Butte Mountain in 1962. Because of the well-preserved homes, businesses, and shops from the mining era, Crested Butte’s downtown is a U.S. National Historic Landmark District. You can book a condo or hotel room at AAA Three Diamond The Lodge at Mountaineer Square, just 100 yards from the Red Lady lift. Paradise Bowl gets you in on some of its best powder. For a black diamond run, Twister is a favorite, mainly because it takes you to Uley’s Cabin. For beginner and easy terrain, you’ll find it right off the Red Lady Express lift.
Telluride The San Juan Mountains have been dubbed the American Alps because their jaggedness resembles the mountains of Switzerland. My favorite place to stay is AAA Three Diamond The Hotel Telluride, mountain chic combining cozy and elegant. My favorite run at Telluride is an iconic one — on a pretty day, you can see all the way to Utah’s La Sal Mountains from See Forever run. There’s expansive beginner terrain near the base and lots of easy runs off of Sunshine Express lift. For expert skiers, the Gold Hill Chutes and Revelation Bowl are must-ski experiences. Alpino Vino is North America’s highest fine-dining restaurant, perched at 11,966 feet. Just about every building along Colorado Avenue in Telluride is historic, including Last Dollar Saloon, where you can belly up to their long bar. Thai restaurant Siam is hands down my favorite eatery in Telluride.
Steamboat Springs To the Yampatika Ute and Arapaho Indians, the area was sacred for the healing properties of its mineral springs. The white gold, or snow, is dubbed “champagne powder,” a phrase coined by local rancher Joe McElroy in the 1950s. Steamboat is home to more Olympians than any other town in North America. My favorite place to stay is AAA Three Diamond Sheraton Steamboat Resort Villas, ski-in, ski-out in Mountain Village. If you’ve ever wanted to ski with an Olympian, Steamboat is the place to do it — try to jump in on the almost daily “Ski with Billy Kidd.” For beginners, you’ll find a plethora of green runs off of Christie Peak Express lift. For experts, black diamond Rolex is an iconic run. Just a few minutes from downtown is a 280-foot waterfall — take a short hike to Fish Creek Falls. For après, try to snag a seat in the bar at Truffle Pig. I can’t go to The Boat and not have breakfast at Creekside Café.

Setting Sail:
The New Cruise Ships Coming in 2027
By: Liv Grace If you’ve been waiting for a reason to book that first cruise or you’re a frequent sailor, 2027 is the year for you. The trend of new ships debuting over the last few years continues with 4,000-guest megaships to 94-guest intimate river cruising. Whatever kind of trip you’re after, there’s likely a ship setting sale for you. Sacrificial champagne beware, there’s going to be a lot of bottle blessings in the year ahead.
Celebrity’s First River Cruises Celebrity Cruises is bursting onto the river cruise scene for the first time with five new ships starting in August 2027. The ships include Celebrity Compass, Celebrity Seeker, Celebrity Boundless, Celebrity Roamer, and Celebrity Wanderer. Each ship will sail through the heart of Europe, promising local flavors, breathtaking views, and guided tours led by local experts. The fleet also features the line’s new Skylight Infinite Balcony Suites, where the balcony is built into the room rather than added on, along with king-size beds in every stateroom. Fares include all meals, alcohol, Wi-Fi, and one shore excursion daily. Pre- and post-cruise stays are available in Budapest, Prague, and Amsterdam.

AmaRudi’s Debut on the Danube AmaWaterways is introducing AmaRudi to the Danube River in spring 2027. Its design builds on the line’s AmaMagna, and it’s set to be the largest river cruise vessel in Europe. The ship is twice as wide as a traditional river vessel, which allows for more spacious all-river-view suites and staterooms, most with balconies. AmaRudi accommodates 196 guests across 98 staterooms and suites, with multiple dining venues, wellness amenities including a spa and a pickleball court, and public spaces inspired by destinations along the Danube. Sailings depart from Budapest, Munich, and Giurgiu, near Bucharest.
AmaWayerways’ newest ship, AmaRudi
Disney’s Fourth & Final Wish-Class Ship Disney first debuted the new Wish-class line of ships in 2022 with an all-new immersive storytelling experience, upgraded technology, and their first ever ride at sea, AquaMouse. Just five short years later, Disney is debuting their fourth and final Wish-class ship, Believe. Its Grand Hall is themed after Disney’s Moana, with a bronze statue of Moana and her companions Pua and Heihei at the center, while the ship’s exterior features Peter Pan’s Tinker Bell at the bow and Toy Story’s Woody and Buzz Lightyear at the stern. At the time of this article, no departure port has been officially confirmed. Believe will mark the last Wish-class line of ships by Disney, with the launch of three new ships in a brand-new class starting in 2029.
Uniworld’s Biggest Expansion Yet Uniworld is introducing four new ships in 2027. Two Super Ships, S.S. Audrey and S.S. Marlene, join the European river fleet, named for screen icons Audrey Hepburn and Marlene Dietrich. A third new ship, S.S. São Rafael, debuts on Portugal’s Douro River. Paired with the new ships come new itineraries including an 11-night “Paris, Prague & Germany’s Hidden Gems” cruise aboard S.S. Audrey along the Rhine and Moselle, with stops in Paris, Prague, Heidelberg, and Cochem; a 16-night “Grand Highlights of the Danube” aboard S.S. Marlene through Austria’s Wachau Valley, Budapest, Passau, and Vienna, with guided cycling and a private classical concert; and a shorter nine-night “Castles Along the Rhine & Amsterdam” cruise from Basel to Amsterdam, visiting Alsace, Rüdesheim, and Cologne.

Norwegian’s Largest Ship to Date Norwegian Aura, Norwegian Cruise Line’s newest edition to its award-winning Prima Plus Class, sails the Caribbean beginning spring 2027. The ship is designed around large open-air spaces including Ocean Heights, a three-story open-air complex featuring six waterslides, an 82-foot rope course, and a bar. The ship also expands Vibe Beach Club, Norwegian’s adults-only retreat. For those seeking some relaxation, you’ll be in for a treat with the industry’s most expansive Thermal Suite, offering 15 wellness amenities, including 11 new experiences. This is the perfect ship for those seeking lots of fun and sun, with destinations that include the Caribbean, The Bahamas, Mexico, and Belize.
Royal Caribbean’s Fourth Icon Class Ship Royal Caribbean’s fourth Icon-class ship, Hero of the Seas, debuts in August 2027. Her debut is part of a sweeping 2027–28 rollout that includes nine ships offering 4- to 12-night trips from Texas, California, and the Northeast, visiting destinations across the Caribbean, Mexico, The Bahamas, and more. Homeporting in Miami, Florida, this massive 250,800-tonne megaship is 10% larger than its Icon-class predecessors, with nine pools and 28 dining venues. New to the ship is the three-deck Ultimate Family Treehouse, a suite designed for multigenerational groups, with a rooftop terrace and private spaces for each generation.
Carnival Festivale FamilyFriendly Adventure Carnival Festivale, launching in spring 2027 from Port Canaveral, is designed to bring people together, with a special focus on family harmony and unforgettable moments for all generations. Six themed zones will be spread across the ship, from the retro-inspired Alchemy Bar to the family-focused Sunsation Point. Festivale also includes Carnival’s biggest waterpark yet, a ropes course, mini-golf, and a sports court. For adults wanting a break, the Serenity Adult-Only Retreat offers a quieter space elsewhere on the ship.
Holland America’s Fleet-Wide Renovation
While Holland America Line isn’t technically debuting a new ship in 2027, it’s still worth mentioning their massive undertaking of the largest fleet renovation in their 153-year history. Holland America Evolution reimagines six ships: Oosterdam, Zuiderdam, Nieuw Amsterdam, Westerdam, Noordam, and Eurodam from bow to stern, beginning with Oosterdam this fall. The updates bring features from the line’s largest and newest Pinnacle Class to more of the fleet: the popular Grand Dutch Café; refreshed staterooms; and two new suite categories, the 1,550-square-foot Pinnacle Suite and the 900-squarefoot Bridgeview Suite with its 180-degree forward view.
Norwegian Cruise Line’s Norwegian Aura
Planning Around a Launch Year Booking early matters even more with a new ship, says VP of Travel Allison Villasenor. “On any cruise, the cabin categories and the excursions people want most go first, and this is especially true for new ships,” Villasenor said. “If there’s a specific stateroom or a shore excursion you’ve got your heart set on, booking early is really the only way to make sure you get it.” Winter 2026

Cold Weather Ready – Prepping Your Car for Winter By: Nate Pigott
There are not many sounds more annoying than a worn out wiper blade running across your windshield as you’re trying to prevent snow flurries from accumulating during your morning commute. And there isn’t anything more frustrating than a dead car battery on a 27-degree night.
As temperatures begin to drop across Central Pennsylvania, now is the time to prepare your vehicle for these and other winter challenges. Cold weather can put additional strain on wiper blades, batteries, and tires. Taking a few preventative steps before winter arrives can help keep you safe on the road and save you from unnecessary headaches when the snow starts flying. Here are three areas every AAA member can check before winter weather sets in.
Start With Your Battery Your vehicle’s battery works harder in cold weather. In fact, freezing temperatures can significantly reduce a battery’s ability to deliver power, making winter one of the most common times for battery-related breakdowns. If your battery is more than three years old, consider having it tested before winter arrives. Watch for warning signs such as slow engine cranking, dim headlights, or electrical accessories that seem sluggish. A battery that performs adequately in mild weather may struggle when temperatures plunge. AAA members can take advantage of battery testing and replacement services through AAA Mobile Battery Service, helping ensure their vehicle is ready when they need it most.
Be Prepared for a Flat Tire A flat tire can happen at any time, but dealing with one in cold weather or on the side of a busy roadway can be especially challenging. AAA Central Penn now offers members TireJECT®, an innovative tire sealant that can quickly repair many common tread punctures. TireJECT is designed to seal qualifying punctures from the inside of the tire, allowing you to get back on the road safely and with minimal disruption. For drivers who don’t want to change a tire in cold temperatures, TireJECT can provide valuable peace of mind. It can be an excellent addition to your winter emergency preparedness plan.
Don’t Overlook Your Wiper Blades Good visibility is essential during winter driving, yet windshield wiper blades are often forgotten until they’re needed most. Rain, snow, sleet, road salt, and grime can quickly reduce visibility. Worn blades may streak, chatter, or leave portions of the windshield uncleared, creating dangerous driving conditions. Most wiper blades should be replaced every six to 12 months. Before winter arrives, inspect your blades for cracks, tears, or signs of wear. Also make sure your windshield washer reservoir is filled with a winter-rated fluid designed to resist freezing temperatures. A simple wiper blade replacement can dramatically improve visibility during winter storms and help you see hazards before they become problems. AAA Central Penn offers members discounted wiper blades, delivered and installed. 30 | AAA Now!
