SUPERIOR PROTECTION FOR ALL VEHICLES

Prestone is now available in 208L drums

For the past 94 years, Prestone’s mission to provide the finest automotive fluids in the world has been at the core of its business; and it says this has kept its technologies ahead of the rest with industry leading innovations. Filpro Automotive explains that Prestone – the one-stop coolant solution – has been perfecting its coolant formula since 1927 to help drivers defy the elements and most importantly defy corrosion. Prestone is an OEM global supplier and is used as first fill by multiple leading vehicle manufacturers, which means the coolant will not void manufacturers’ warranties. Filpro goes on to explain that Prestone can be used in every passenger and light commercial vehicle on the market. It is compatible and mixes safely with any other colour or brand of coolant, and will take on the original cooling system colour when used as a top up. This eliminates the need for workshops to carry three or four different colour coolants, and now with 208L drums of Prestone All Makes All Models Coolant available in Australia, Prestone is helping professionals enjoy the benefits of a new found simplicity. Unlike most other brands of coolant inhibitor packs, Filpro says Prestone’s patented Cor-Guard inhibitor technology is designed specifically to start working immediately, protecting cooling system parts against corrosion and pitting for longer engine life. Filpro explains the advanced inhibitor package instantly layers and bonds to the cooling system components, immediately stopping the spread of cavitation, erosion, corrosion and rust. MOBIL 1 TECHNICAL PARTNERSHIP PIONEERS INNOVATION

A Formula One race car is an engineering marvel

It is the most technically advanced piece of machinery on the planet – designed by the world’s best engineers to compete in the most technically demanding sport. Despite their ground-breaking engineering and mesmerising innovation, F1 cars must comply to an incredibly stringent set of technical specifications. One of their most strictly controlled specifications is the engines. Here, the introduction of new engines and/or engine specifications is essentially banned. It was little wonder whispers, rumours and finger pointing began running rife through the F1 paddock when Red Bull Racing demonstrated a significant step-up in performance at the 2021 French, Styrian and Austrian Grand Prix. Mercedes driver, Lewis Hamilton went so far as to publicly suggest that something fishy may have been going on. Red Bull’s Team Principle, Christian Horner responded, “We have a new oil from ExxonMobil. So, I think they can take all the credit for the fact that Lewis keeps pointing at our engines. The engines are the same specification.” ExxonMobil’s Global Motorsport Technology Manager, Tomek Young added, “ExxonMobil delivered a revolutionary new oil – that has helped push the team forwards. New components were incorporated that translate into an ability to run the engine across a wider range of operating conditions and not be wound back.” Mobil 1 says these results are a direct result of Mobil 1 not just being a sticker on the car – rather, they’re an integral part of the team as a technical partner. As Red Bull Racing’s fuel (Esso) and lubricant (Mobil 1) partner, ExxonMobil’s chemists worked alongside engine manufacturer Honda to deliver an absolute performance advantage. It says the key is the revolutionary additives package designed for the new Mobil 1 RB16B engine oil. Oils are so much more than just viscosity – that’s only half the story. Their additives package represents up to 30 percent of the final product, and ultimately define the oil’s performance under the extremes of temperature and pressure. This pioneering innovation came from an unusual source – the cosmetics industry. Using naturally derived, bio-sourced components, Mobil 1 has created a molecular structure that mimics the skin’s protective barrier. It enables the lubricant to microscopically cling to the metal’s surface – without increasing parasitic drag or aeration of the oil, while simultaneously enhancing thermal efficiency. The benefits of enhanced thermal efficiency cannot be understated. An F1’s tightly packaged, 1000hp, turbocharged, 2.4L, hybrid-electric powerplant generates an incredible amount of heat. Temperatures routinely exceed 950C, with the engine’s lubricating oil responsible for dissipating over 40 percent of that heat. Mobil 1 says the real-world advantages of its new, fully-synthetic lubricant is the ability of Honda to run the tightly homologated engine hotter and at record efficiency levels, for longer – with less deposits and without incurring the typical reliability penalty. Mobil 1’s chemists didn’t develop this revolutionary additives package overnight. It is the culmination of eight years of intensive R&D. However, the opportunity to collaborate directly with Honda and Red Bull ramped up its development, enabling ExxonMobil to bring this new innovation properly into play. This is why Mobil 1 views F1 as the ultimate testing ground. It says that what it learns out on the racetrack is directly reflected in the technologies found in every Mobil 1 lubricant. Mobil 1 says the benefits flow both ways too: “workshops benefit from Mobil 1’s world renowned assurance of quality, while their prudent customers get peace-of-mind knowing they’re getting the best.” Mobil 1 is distributed in Australia by MotorActive. YOUR DRIVELINE LUBRICATION NEEDS COVERED

Rowe offers a diverse range of premium driveline lubricants

When you think of brands like Mercedes Benz, BMW, Audi, VW and Porsche, terms such as technical innovation, exceptional build quality and renowned reliability are what come to mind. Each of these prestigious German automakers pride themselves on living up to the Teutonic reputation for engineering excellence. With its modern, state-of-the art plant located in Worms, Germany, lubricants specialist Rowe says it embraces this same philosophy. Since launching in 1995, Rowe says it has experienced relentless year-on-year growth, noting that this is quite an achievement considering Germany is by far the largest lubricant manufacturer in Europe. Rowe says its growing success clearly demonstrates the respect and enviable reputation this 100 percent made-in-Germany brand has earned for itself.

A key to Rowe’s phenomenal growth has been the popularity and widespread adoption of their driveline lubricants. By working hand-in-hand with local German automakers as well as the vehicle servicing industry – plus maintaining 100 percent control of every aspect of every drop – Rowe says it is able to deliver “premium lubricants that consistently outperform the opposition.” One of the insights Rowe has picked up from working with the OEMs and the aftermarket, is that unlike engine oils, the change intervals for driveline lubricants tends to be extremely long – with oil changes typically performed every few years at best. With this understanding, extended durability along with extraordinary wear protection for the entirety of even the longest service cycle, are top priorities for all Rowe driveline lubricants. The drivelines in modern vehicles also require an extremely diverse array of highly specialised and specifically engineered lubricants. Rowe explains that it covers them all, including DCT (Dual Clutch Transmission), DSG (Direct-Shift Gearbox), PDK (Porsche Doppelkupplungsgetriebe) and CVT (Constant Velocity Transmission). In addition to its traditional ATF (Automatic Transmission Fluid), Rowe also offers hypoid gear oils for manual transmissions, differentials and axle gears. With such a diverse range of premium driveline lubricants, Rowe says it is able to fulfill the lubrication needs of virtually every vehicle found on Australian roads. Rowe’s full line up of engine oils, driveline lubricants, hydraulic and steering fluids along with dedicated racing products are distributed in Australia by MotorActive. THE LATEST TECHNOLOGY PRODUCTS

Penrite has been Australian owned and operated for 95 years

The trend in modern vehicle manufacturing over recent years has seen the introduction of smaller capacity, higher output engines that deliver lower fuel economy and emissions over previous generation engines. To go with these changes, the industry has also developed newer, higher performance engine lubricants that meet the specification requirements of the manufacturers and address issues such as: • LSPI (Low Speed Pre-ignition) • Turbo Charger deposit control • Improved fuel economy • Emission control device compatibility • Stop/Start protection • Improved wear protection • Reduced sludge formation Industry bodies such as the API (American Petroleum Institute) and ACEA (Association des Constructeurs Europeens de l’Automobile) saw the need for aftertreatment compatible specifications to cover newer low viscosity engine oils such as 5W-20 and 0W-20. In 2016, ACEA introduced a new specification to its MID SAPS catalyst compatible sequence with the introduction of a C5 variant. This specification was designed for use in high performance petrol and light duty diesel engines where advanced aftertreatment systems such as Diesel Particulate Filters (DPFs), Gasoline Particle Filters (GPFs) and Three Way Catalysts (TWC) are used. The new C5 specification had the same SAPS levels as ACEA C2 and ACEA C3 but with a lower HTHS viscosity between 2.6 and 2.9 mPa’s. This new specification improved fuel economy by two percent over a typical C3 product. In 2021, ACEA also introduced a C6 specification Mid SAPS level, engine oil for improved fuel economy, for aftertreatment system compatibility. It is intended for use at extended oil drain intervals in passenger car and light-duty gasoline and DI (Direct Injection) diesel engines designed and OEM-approved for engine oils with HTHS viscosity of minimum 2.6 mPas. Relative to C5 these engine oils also provide low speed pre-ignition and wear protection for turbocharged gasoline DI engines as well as turbocharger compressor deposit (TCCD) protection for modern DI diesel engines. Penrite says it saw the need for this specification in the Aftermarket and so introduced its Enviro+ C5 0W-20 variant to its range to satisfy requirements for manufacturers such as BMW, Jaguar, Land Rover and Volvo. Not happy to rest on its laurels, Penrite says it has since updated Enviro+ C5 0W-20 to now meet API SP Resource Conserving, ILSAC GF-6A and the new ACEA C6 specifications. It is also API licensed which Penrite says ensures quality and satisfaction. Penrite explains that recently this specification is now the choice of Toyota for its Turbo Diesel Hilux, Land Cruiser Prado and Fortuner models manufactured from the 5/2020, stating this is also the only specification requirement for these vehicles. BRAKE FLUID TESTING

The AutoTest Brake Fluid Tester tests the boiling point of brake fluid in less than 30 seconds

AutoTest says the most reliable method of determining the efficacy of your brake fluid is to boil it; which is exactly what the AutoTest Brake Fluid tester does. AutoTest says many brake fluid testers measure just conductivity, not boiling point, making it very difficult to determine its efficacy which is determined by boiling point. Brake fluid is designed to have a high boiling point, to withstand the high temperatures generated during braking. The one major drawback, due to its chemical composition, is that it absorbs moisture. This can be moisture from the air (via the breather hole in the master cylinder cap) or via the rubber hosing. The more moisture in the brake fluid, the lower the boiling point. This increases the risk of “brake fade.” Under heavy driving conditions or on steep, winding roads or stop-start braking at high speeds, brake fluid boils and turns to vapour, and the brake pedal goes straight to the floor with no braking action. This is known as “vapour-lock.” AutoTest says if the police are called to such an accident, unless they test the boiling point of the brake fluid, all will appear normal as the brake fluid will have cooled back down, the brake pedal will feel firm, and the driver will be faced with some serious questions. Brake fluid is a safety-critical item, but how many drivers ask to get their brake fluid checked? AutoTest says the only approved way to test for moisture in brake fluid is to boil it. On the back of every bottle of brake fluid is a chart showing the “dry” (uncontaminated), and “wet” (contaminated) boiling points of all the various grades of brake fluid. Brake fluid manufacturers use what’s called an ERBP (Equilibrium Reflux Boiling Point) test to determine the boiling point of brake fluid. In a lab this can take hours to set up and complete. The AutoTest Brake Fluid tester is designed to test the boiling point of the fluid in the car in less than 30 seconds, with digital accuracy. AutoTest says it works on all grades of brake fluid and shows clearly what the fluid has boiled at, and what the DOT minimums are for each, making the fluid change decision easy for the technician and the customer. Once the brake fluid has been changed, garages can offer to re-test the brake fluid to clearly show the improved results on the new fluid. AutoTest says consumers should also be aware that new brake fluid from a sealed bottle must be used for every brake change as there have been cases where brake fluid has been left in an opened bottle, effectively making the “new” fluid as contaminated as the old. BRAKE FLUID ADVICE

From the experts at Bendix

Bendix says that according to research, many motorists do not understand the critical role that brake fluid plays in braking, nor do they know or understand why this should be tested and changed regularly. In this important area the mechanic plays a vital role in explaining why testing and changing brake fluid during a vehicle service is important to vehicle and passenger safety. Leading Brake manufacturer Bendix provides some helpful tips to pass on to your customers plus information on the correct procedures to test and change this important fluid. A special video can be watched at www.youtube. com/bendixtv to assist in this process. When changing brake fluid, the experts at Bendix recommend using the hard-working formulas of Bendix High Performance DOT 3 or DOT 4 brake fluids as these are a high performance Polyglycol type fluid designed for the optimum performance of hydraulic and conventional brake systems. Brake fluid is designed with a high boiling point to withstand the extreme temperatures generated during braking and needs to be checked to ensure it meets the exact temperature requirements. Both DOT 3 and DOT 4 are hydroscopic fluids which absorb moisture when exposed to air. This can occur in instances where the reservoir cap is opened or through brake lines where the moisture level can build up over time through microscopic pores in the line. This is a normal process of the brake fluid’s life cycle and moisture absorption prevents pooling and corrosion on metal components in the system. Elevated moisture levels over time reduce the boiling point of the fluid, resulting in a reduction of effectiveness of the brake fluid. In hot weather conditions or under heavy vehicle braking, moisture can vaporise, causing the system to lock leading to a soft brake pedal or complete brake failure. Two common tools are used to test brake fluid, being a Conductivity Tester or a Boiling Point Tester. Conductivity Testers estimate the moisture content by converting the conductivity into an estimated boiling point. Since brake fluids vary in formula, Bendix says such a test will not provide a result unless the tester is calibrated to the manufacturer’s product when new. The tester recommended by Bendix is one that heats the brake fluid to determine the correct boiling point. Such a test takes less than a minute to accurately measure the boiling point and confirm if the brake fluid has absorbed too much moisture to be safe. “In just twelve months brake fluid will have absorbed approximately two percent water reducing its boiling point by 75 degrees,” Bendix Marketing Services Manager, Ian Bott, said. “Once the brake fluid has been changed it is important to bleed the system to remove any air bubbles trapped in the line which may cause a spongy brake pedal and in extreme cases, brake failure. Go to the special video at www.youtube.com/ bendixtv for further assistance.” Bendix DOT 3 High Performance Brake Fluid is suitable for use in ABS/non-ABS disc and drum brakes and hydraulic clutch systems in cars, trucks, buses and motorcycles where FMVSS DOT 3 fluids are specified. This fluid is straw in colour for ease of identification. Bendix DOT 4 High Performance / Heavy Duty Brake Fluid is suitable for use in ABS/non-ABS disc and drum brakes and hydraulic clutch systems in cars, trucks, buses and motorcycles. DOT 4 fluid is dyed blue in colour for easy identification. Bendix DOT 3 and DOT 4 brake fluids are available in 500ml and 4 litre bottles plus 20 litre drums and instructional Bendix videos can be viewed at www.youtube.com/bendixtv For further information free call the Bendix Brake advice Centre on 1800 819 666 or +61 3 5327 0211 from overseas – 8am-5pm Monday to Friday EST, email brakeadvicecentre@bendix.com.au or visit www.bendix.com.au

JLM INJECTOR LOOSENER

The company is responding to trade demand with new products

Sticking firmly to its mission of introducing new and improved products for the professional motor mechanic, JLM Lubricants – a global brand serving the automotive aftermarket – has launched three new products. New to the market from JLM Lubricants is: • a multi spray; • an engine oil stop leak; and • a spark plug/injector loosener. With the Injector Loosener JLM states that it is “providing a lifeline to injectors that would otherwise have to be drilled out.” The strong cooling effect (max -40degrees Celsius) causes micro cracks, releasing the bond between the injector and the engine to enable disassembling without breaking. “It’s not always the case that a stuck injector is destined to be drilled out,” JLM founder, Gilbert Groot, said. “With this product the stuck injector or spark plug can be loosened but should it be impossible to extract the mechanic knows they’ve done everything possible before resorting to drilling. “Our inspiration for this product was on the back of the global reaction to our GDI Cleaner. “Mechanics were asking for this as a natural partner. “The two go hand in hand as part of the modern mechanic’s toolkit and the motorist is spared the cost of footing the bill for a new injector. “We remain steadfastly committed to the professional mechanic in the 40 countries where our products are used. “Our mission is to innovate, improve and react without delay when we can see a compelling need to go back to the drawing board. “These three products are the tip of the iceberg with more to follow in quarter two.” For more information, visit www.jlmlubricants.com

BAR’S LEAKS

“The ultimate under the bonnet range”

Bar’s Leaks says it has a reputation as one of the world’s most effective and easily used automotive additives, stating it has been one of the most trusted and locally manufactured names in the automotive chemical industry since 1947. When Bar’s Leaks is added to the cooling system, it works to protect against leaks and corrosion. When adding the product to a radiator, Bar’s Leaks explains that its secret ingredient ‘Rhizex’ quickly dissolves under heat and circulation, releasing tens of thousands of individual Rhizex particles which continually circulate throughout the entire cooling system, sealing up any leaks along the way. Bar’s Leaks explains that this is quite different to other ordinary Stop leaks that patch or plug cooling system components. It states that “this revolutionary product effectively stops the build up of rust and corrosion, lubricates the water pump seal, prevents internal and external seepage, and seals all external leaks in heads, blocks, and radiators to give excellent engine protection.” It is a product that is compatible with all quality coolants and anti-freeze. Two sizes are available in the Bar’s Leaks Stop Leak: 150gm for the smaller and four-cylinder engines and 340gm for six and eight cylinder engines. The Bar’s Leaks range also includes Bar’s Leaks Radiator Cleaner – A Bar’s Bugs rep states that “our Radiator Cleaner is designed to remove all internal rust and corrosion from the radiator and heater cores, engine block and head. X-1R ENGINE OIL TREATMENT

With free Octane Booster

Burg Design are the exclusive Australian distributors of X-1R products. To prove a point of how effective X-1R really is, Burg Design says it has now released a new trial pack of the famous Engine Treatment that includes a free bottle of Octane Booster. It says when these two products are added to the engine oil and the petrol fuel tank you can not only hear the difference, but you can also actually feel the difference too with more power, reduced fuel consumption and a much quieter and smoother running engine. Burg Design states, “while others make claims, we have the proof.” Engine and fuel additives that really work

Burg Design says that X-1R Performance Products have been developed, proven and used daily by the NASA Space Technology team. Over 21 years ago, NASA faced a very serious situation and closure when the traction bearings in the Shuttle Crawler broke down due to carrying the heaviest object in the world out to the launching pad. Soon after, Burg Design explains that the engineers and industrial chemists at NASA and the X-1R Corporation got together to see if they could develop a unique lubricating grease that could help resolve this major problem. This is what they did and the rest is history; and soon after NASA and X-1R Corporation joined forces in the development of what Burg Design calls “the most technological and proven range of lubricants in the world.” Burg Design says the program isn’t just useful when it comes to space exploration, with major vehicle makers such as Honda, Toyota, Nissan, Hyundai and Proton said to be using X-1R additives in engines and transmissions. It says X-1R products are well known around the world as “the most tested and proven range of additives money can buy.” X-1R Products are on display at the Smithsonian Institute Hall of Fame Washington, DC, USA as well as the Kennedy Space Centre. BURSON COOLANT RANGE

High quality products from Burson Auto Parts

Burson Auto Parts has expanded the Australian company’s own brand of premium quality engine coolants. The Burson coolant range has offered repairers high quality green and red coolant formulations for decades and in order to meet the specific requirements of several vehicle manufacturers. There are a number of key objectives that well formulated engine coolants need to achieve. They must be highly effective at transferring heat, be able to prevent corrosion, cavitation and scale formulation, along with providing freeze protection if required. In 2017 Burson added blue and pink Burson Long Life Coolant to the range to provide coverage for the specific chemistry and performance formulation requirements of late model Japanese and Korean manufactured vehicles meeting the ASTM D3306 and JIS K 2234-2006 Class II performance requirements set by the OEMs. These formulations are often referred to as P-OAT which stands for Organic Additive Technology (OAT) with Phosphate Inhibitors. The latest addition to the program is the violet coloured formulation. This meets the requirement of VW Group spec TL 774 J (G13) which is specified for most late model VAG vehicles. This formulation is referred to as Si-OAT which stands for Organic Additive Technology (OAT) with low Silicate content. Burson Auto Parts say the Burson program was the first aftermarket coolant program to include the Si-OAT violet product. With more OEM specification around coolant than ever before, it is important to ensure the correct formulation is used. The dye colour of the coolant is an indicator but doesn’t guarantee the correct spec and using the wrong formulation can lead to the premature failure of cooling system components. To find the right coolant for the vehicle, Burson Auto Parts says there is no better resource for mechanics than Burson EzyParts. The complete Burson coolant range now includes: • Burson European Coolant (Violet) • Burson Long Life Coolant (Blue and Pink) • Burson Long Life Organic Coolant (Red) • Burson Long Life Coolant (Green) • Burson Radiator Corrosion Inhibitor (Green) For more from Burson Auto Parts, visit www.burson.com.au

ENGINE FLUSH

Clean and protect with one treatment

For over 80 Years, Wynn’s Professional has been the leading global manufacturer of innovative automotive products designed to clean, protect and lubricate regardless of whether your customers’ car is brand new or decades old. One of the most popular products in Wynn’s Professional extensive range of additives and treatments is its Engine Flush. This premium professional formula safely cleans and prepares the engine for the addition of clean oil. Don’t put clean oil into a dirty engine,” Wynn’s Professional, Australia Brand Manager, Sarah McNeill, said. “Wynn’s Engine Flush is a pre-oil change engine flush that internally cleans vital engine parts, removing harmful deposits, sludge, and varnish that impede oil flow. “The build-up of contaminants can cause premature engine wear, loss of engine power, and increased oil consumption, ultimately leading to a drop in oil pressure. “The treatment also provides a high degree of protection to the engine components, seals, and gaskets that can help reduce fuel consumption.” Wynn’s Engine Flush has been specially designed to gently dissolve and remove internal engine contaminants by suspending them in a high level of dispersants. “Many workshop owners include a Wynn’s Engine Flush as part of their standard servicing,” Sarah said. “When quoting a service, they include the cost of the treatment and explain the advantages of the treatment to the customer.” In addition to cleaning the engine, Wynn’s Professional Engine Flush also protects internal metal components from harmful contaminants between oil changes and promotes a more thorough draining of used oil. “Our unique formula reduces oil consumption resulting from blocked oil drain return holes by effectively dissolving old, highly oxidised oil,” Sarah said. “This also reduces the risk of the new oil becoming contaminated.” Professionally formulated with detergents, dispersants, and anti-wear additives, Wynn’s Professional Engine Flush even provides engine lubrication protection during use. Wynn’s Engine Flush is suitable for all petrol, diesel and LPG engines in cars and trucks. For more information, visit www.wynns.net.au

TRW BRAKE FLUIDS

Delivering safety and performance

Many of today’s vehicles feature advanced technologies including anti-lock braking systems (ABS) and electronic stability programmes (ESP). As these technologies develop complementary products, such as brake fluid, need to act quickly to maximise safety and performance. Whenever a vehicle’s brakes are used, the brake fluid heats up and, as brake hoses get older, the amount of moisture that gets into the system increases, resulting in a lowering of the brake fluid’s boiling point. If the brake fluid reaches boiling point, ‘vapour lock’ can occur, potentially resulting in brake failure. ZF Aftermarket recommends that workshops regularly check a vehicle’s brake fluid, with annual changes advised.

Available from ZF in Oceania is the TRW brake fluid range, which caters for a wide range of vehicles, including those with drum brakes through to highperformance vehicles with ABS and ESPs. Driven by safety, all TRW brake fluids are tested to the extreme and exceed international DOT specifications. The range incorporates the latest technology to make vehicles safer, with a blend of advanced lubricants, stabilisers, antioxidants and corrosion inhibitors to help minimise wear and maximise performance. TRW DOT 3 is designed for vehicles with front and rear drum brakes, as well as hydraulic clutch systems. Some Japanese car manufacturers recommend DOT 3 for their vehicles with ABS and ESP. TRW DOT 4 is recommended for vehicles with disc brakes on the front and drum brakes on the rear. It is also suited for vehicles with disc brakes all round, and those fitted with ABS. The DOT 4 ESP is suited for vehicles fitted with ABS and ESP, while the DOT 4 GT is for high-performance vehicles. TRW DOT 5.1 is designed to complement the very latest ESP and is ideal for heavy, highperformance cars with its low viscosity. For more information on the local TRW braking range, visit www.trwbraking.com.au

PREMIUM DIESEL FUEL ADDITIVE

Australian Made and Owned

Diesel fuel additives offer a number of advantages. Primarily additives provide lubrication throughout the fuel system – a vital ingredient missing from our low Sulphur fuels. Responsive Diesel Fuel Conditioner was developed here in Australia especially for Common Rail Diesels but it is suitable for all diesel fuel systems. It lubricates moving parts, cleans and provides anti-corrosion protection for diesel fuel pumps, injectors and all fuel and engine system components. This fuel lubricant and conditioner has a powerful Nano formula that has been specifically designed for Common Rail fuel systems. The conditioner includes an anti-bacterial biocide but does not contain water dispersants which is often found in other fuel additives that allows water to combine with fuel and flow past filters and water detection units where it causes catastrophic damage in diesel vehicles. Some labels claim to dissolve water, as water is disastrous in common rail fuel systems. Responsive Engineering explains there is no magic to these additives; they just use a dispersant (like detergent in oil). It says the water doesn’t disappear so it is actually more dangerous for the common rail fuel systems as the water emulsifies with the fuel. Responsive Engineering explains that unless you have Water Watch installed, no filter can even see it let alone remove it before it gets into the fuel system, causing major damage. It is very effective in assisting your pre-filter water warning systems to detect water and warn you before water gets into the fuel system components. By simply putting in a diesel fuel additive when you next fill up, Responsive Engineering says you can reduce fuel consumption and emissions, reduce wear and tear on moving parts and protect components. It explains that its bottle is designed to fit into the door pocket so it’s always in the vehicle and 150ml will treat up to 1200 litres of fuel. Responsive Diesel Fuel Conditioner is only available from Responsive Engineering or Specialist Tools Australia. For more information visit www.waterindiesel.com.au or call 02 6280 4334.

CIRCO MF1200+ RACING BRAKE FLUID

New product now available through Motorsport Brakes

CIRCO’s MF1200+ Racing Brake Fluid has been specially formulated in the UK to provide the highest performance under racing conditions where braking systems must operate at extremely high temperatures, making it suitable for all top levels of motorsport from GT3, NASCAR and WRC down to performance production cars. “CIRCO Brake pads have been winning races for years, including this year’s Bathurst Six Hour and are the control brake pad supplier for categories such as TA2 Australia and the RX8 Cup,” Motorsport Brakes Director, Marty Beckton, said. “With the new release of the MF1200+ Racing Brake Fluid, we can ensure competitors have a fluid as capable as their brake pads. “The best part about this fluid being Dot4 is it is interchangeable with almost every brake fluid used in performance street vehicles too. So, whether you use your car on the street, track days, racing or rallying, this fluid works perfectly.” MF1200+ has advanced moisture resistance properties and low levels of viscosity for rapid actuation of all the brake system components due to how readily the fluid flows from the master cylinders, through the brake lines, into the ABS modulator (if equipped), and throughout the brake calipers, as well as low levels of compressibility. It is not aggressive on seals and offers a High Lubricity resulting in less wear of the brake system’s moving parts. MF1200+ conforms to and exceeds the current specification U.S. FMVSS No.116 DOT 4 and is street legal in every country including the USA and Canada. Its typical dry boiling point is 328°C (623°F) and its typical wet boiling point is 204°C (399 °F). Motorsport Brakes is a supplier of premium brake friction products to the Australian and NZ performance and competition markets. All Australian distribution of CIRCO products is warehoused at the MSB base in Yatala, Queensland.
