Modern 4WDs are doing more work than ever before
Between bull bars, winches, canopies, drawer systems, rooftop tents, towing setups and touring gear, it doesn’t take long for a standard vehicle to end up carrying significantly more weight than it was when it rolled off the showroom floor.
That growing demand is one of the biggest reasons suspension and GVM upgrades have become such an important part of the aftermarket industry.
Today’s customers aren’t simply looking for lift kits or a tougher stance – they want vehicles that remain stable, predictable and compliant once the accessories and load start adding up.
And increasingly, workshops are being asked to deliver exactly that.
Suspension upgrades are often simplified down to heavier springs and replacement shock absorbers, but a properly engineered system involves far more than that.
Modern 4WD platforms are complex and small changes to ride height, weight distribution or spring rate can significantly affect vehicle behaviour.
A suspension system needs to work as a complete package. Springs support the load and maintain ride height, while shock absorbers control the movement of the suspension itself.
The balance between the two is critical. Get it right and the vehicle feels controlled and composed under load. Get it wrong and issues like excessive body movement, poor ride quality and unpredictable handling quickly appear.
That’s why vehicle-specific development has become increasingly important across the aftermarket sector.
At ARB, suspension development begins long before parts are physically fitted to a vehicle.
New platforms are analysed in standard form, with corner weights measured, suspension geometry assessed and on-road and off-road testing carried out across varying load conditions.
From there, engineers evaluate spring rates, damper tuning, wheel travel and driveline clearances to develop a matched system suited to the vehicle’s intended use.
ARB says it is an approach that recognises a lightly accessorised daily driver behaves very differently to a heavily loaded touring vehicle towing a caravan.
As vehicle weights continue climbing, Gross Vehicle Mass has become a major consideration for both workshops and owners.
GVM refers to the maximum legal operating weight of a vehicle, including passengers, accessories, fuel, luggage, and tow ball download.
While many modern 4WDs offer impressive towing figures, payload can often become the limiting factor once accessories and touring equipment are added.
That creates a growing challenge across the industry. Customers want capable touring vehicles, but they also expect safe handling, reliable braking performance and legal compliance.
A properly engineered GVM upgrade addresses more than just carrying capacity. Suspension geometry, braking performance, handling characteristics and overall vehicle stability all need to remain within compliance requirements at the increased operating weight.

For workshops, that makes choosing a complete, tested system increasingly important.
ARB explains that its Old Man Emu range includes a variety of integrated suspension and GVM upgrade solutions developed specifically around Australian conditions and vehicle applications. Rather than taking a universal approach, systems are designed around how vehicles are actually used, including towing, constant loads and longdistance touring.
One of the biggest shifts in the suspension market has been the demand for more applicationspecific solutions.
Not every customer requires the same outcome, and no single suspension package suits every vehicle.
A dual cab ute carrying tools and equipment every day requires a very different setup to a weekend touring wagon or an overland build towing a camper trailer around the country.
That’s why modern suspension ranges now offer multiple tiers of performance and capability.
ARB states that the Nitrocharger Plus twin-tube shock absorber remains a popular all-round solution for many applications thanks to their durability, ride comfort and ability to comfortably manage moderate accessory loads.
ARB explains they continue to suit a broad range of vehicles used for commuting, towing and recreational touring.
For heavier touring applications and vehicles spending extended time on corrugations, MT64 shock absorbers have a monotube design offering

improved heat management and damping consistency.
Larger oil volumes and improved cooling characteristics help maintain control over long distances in harsh conditions, particularly when vehicles are carrying sustained loads.
At the premium end of the market, ARB points to the BP-51 shock absorbers which have an adjustable bypass system, allowing for more precise tuning depending on terrain, driving style and vehicle configuration.
It says these systems are increasingly popular among customers looking for greater control and adaptability across changing conditions.
The common thread across all of them is proper integration between springs, dampers and vehicle load requirements.
Customer expectations around suspension performance have changed significantly over the past decade.
Modern 4WD owners expect vehicles to remain comfortable on-road while still handling heavy loads and demanding off road conditions. Meeting those expectations requires extensive testing and development.
At ARB, suspension systems are tested across a range of environments including highways, corrugations, low-speed off road terrain and fully loaded touring conditions.
Heat management, damping consistency and long-term durability all play a critical role in overall system performance, particularly in Australian conditions where sustained rough-road use is common.
ARB says that engineering focus has also become increasingly important as new vehicle platforms grow more sophisticated.
Electronic safety systems, advanced chassis designs and tighter compliance requirements mean suspension development now requires far more precision than simply increasing spring rate or ride height.
For workshops and fitters, that shift reinforces the importance of vehicle-specific solutions backed by proper testing and compliance processes.
As vehicle weights continue increasing and customer expectations evolve, suspension has become one of the most important components in any 4WD build.
Done properly, a well-matched suspension system improves vehicle control, maintains ride height under load and helps ensure predictable handling across a wide range of driving conditions.
Combined with compliant GVM upgrade solutions where required, it allows modern 4WDs to safely and confidently handle the demands being placed on them.
For the aftermarket industry, that makes suspension far more than just an accessory category.
It has become a critical part of building vehicles that are capable, compliant and properly equipped for real-world use.

Built for the demands of 4WDs
Australia’s 4WD market continues to grow, with touring vehicles carrying more accessories, more electronics, and larger battery systems than ever before.
From dual battery setups and portable fridges to winches, lighting and air compressors, today’s off-road vehicles place significant demands on their electrical systems – and when battery issues arise in remote environments, reliable recovery equipment becomes critical.
To meet these demands, CTEK has expanded its portable power lineup with the RB 3000 and RB 4000 high-performance jump starters, engineered specifically to deliver dependable starting power for modern 4WD applications.
Designed for rugged conditions, the RB 3000 delivers up to 3000A peak current, while the RB 4000 increases capacity to an impressive 4000A peak current, making it suitable for large-capacity petrol and diesel engines commonly found in dualcab utes, touring wagons, and heavy-duty off-road vehicles.
Whether recovering a vehicle after an overnight campsite drain or restarting a diesel engine after
extended accessory use, CTEK says both units provide fast, reliable starting performance without requiring another vehicle nearby.
Unlike traditional booster packs, CTEK says the RB 3000 and RB 4000 combine high-output lithium technology with advanced safety electronics. Spark-free operation, reverse polarity protection, and overload protection help protect both the operator and increasingly sensitive modern vehicle electronics – something CTEK notes is particularly important in newer 4WD platforms equipped with advanced driver assistance systems, battery monitoring systems and sophisticated onboard control modules.
For off-road users, portability and durability are equally important.
CTEK explains both units feature compact, heavyduty construction designed to withstand harsh environments, while remaining easy to store in a canopy or glovebox.
Integrated LED lighting provides additional practicality for night-time recoveries or low-light roadside situations.
Importantly, the RB 3000 and RB 4000 extend

beyond emergency jump-starting duties. USB outputs allow users to charge phones, GPS units, tablets and other critical equipment while travelling remotely, turning the units into versatile portable power solutions for touring and campsite use.
As 4WD electrical systems continue to become more complex, reliable battery support equipment is becoming an essential part of any touring or workshop toolkit.
With the RB 3000 and RB 4000, CTEK says it delivers professional-grade battery starting performance, intelligent safety technology and rugged portability tailored for the realities of offroad driving.

If you are serious about taking your 4x4 off the beaten track, you already know that Australia’s “Tuffest” terrain doesn’t discriminate with rocks, mud, salt, water crossings, and relentless UV punishment able to eat through a standard factory finish without a second thought.
Rhino Linings says this is where its Tuff Stuff comes in, stating it is quickly becoming “the goto” protective coating for 4x4 enthusiasts who refuse to compromise.
“Unlike standard spray-on liners, Rhino Tuff Stuff is applied two to three times thicker than competing products, delivering a level of protection that simply can’t be matched,” Rhino Linings Marketing Manager – Australasia, Lance Meredith, said.
“This extra thickness translates directly into superior impact resistance, abrasion resistance, corrosion protection, sound deadening and vibration absorption, everything a serious offroader needs when pushing their vehicle to the limit.
“Its elastomeric properties make it ideal for
surfaces subject to flexing, expansion, contraction and constant vibration, conditions that are all too familiar on corrugated outback tracks or rocky mountain trails.
“No matter the film thickness, Tuff Stuff maintains its integrity under repeated flexing, so it won’t crack or peel when things get tough”
Rhino Linings says one of Tuff Stuff’s biggest advantages is its ability to bond to virtually any substrate, metal, fibreglass, wood and concrete, conforming seamlessly to any shape or size.
“From ute tub liners and bull bars, to bumpers, grilles, mudguards, side steps, and wheel arches, Tuff Stuff creates a monolithic seamless coating that leaves no weak points for corrosion to take hold,” Lance said.
While Australia’s harsh climate may be legendary, Tuff Stuff is built for it.
“Its UV and atmospheric resistance means your coating won’t degrade, fade or break down under the relentless Australian sun, a common weakness in cheaper alternatives.”
In addition, Tuff Stuff’s grippy finish provides

what Rhino Linings’ describes as maximum slip resistance, whether you are loading gear into a tray or stepping onto a running board after a river crossing.
It is available in both light and heavy stipple finishes, and is said to be “as practical as it is tough.”
“For 4x4 owners who see their vehicle as a serious investment worth protecting, Rhino Linings Tuff Stuff delivers armour-grade protection that keeps on performing, no matter where the track takes you,” Lance said.

For the aftermarket, Narva says its consumables range represents more than just electrical accessories
Narva has long been recognised as one of the automotive aftermarket’s most trusted names in lighting and electrical, but the brand’s consumables range is proving just as important for 4WD enthusiasts, workshops, auto electricians, and fleet operators alike.
Built around the philosophy of offering a complete wiring and electrical solution under one banner, the Narva consumables program covers everything from terminals and connectors through to cable management, power distribution, and circuit protection.
At the core of the range is Narva’s trade-quality terminal offering.
The line-up includes blade, ring, bullet and joiner terminals, wire taps, and assortments designed specifically for workshop efficiency.
Narva says double-crimp technology is why the trade trusts its offerings, creating a stronger and more secure connection without the need for soldering.
Heat-resistant variants are also available for higher temperature environments, while adhesive-lined heatshrink terminals provide an additional layer of sealing and strain relief for harsh conditions.
Narva says these products are especially valuable in commercial and industrial applications where dust, vibration, and moisture can quickly expose inferior components.
Connectors continue to be one of the fastestgrowing segments of the automotive electrical category, and Narva has invested heavily here.
The range now includes waterproof connectors, weatherproof harness connectors, quick connectors and AMP Super Seal and Deutsch solutions for more demanding applications.
Narva states the emphasis is on durability, serviceability, and clean installations, whether for trailer wiring, driving lights, compressors, or auxiliary power circuits.
Supporting the connector and terminal range is a professional-grade tool program designed for trade users.
Narva’s ratchet crimping tools and master crimping kits feature interchangeable heads, lightweight alloy construction, and heavy-duty ratchet mechanisms that deliver consistent, high-quality crimps throughout a full day in the workshop.
Power distribution has also become a major focus as modern vehicles and equipment carry more accessories and higher current loads than ever before.

Narva’s range includes Heavy Duty connectors, battery clamps, cable lugs, busbars, distribution posts, and junction boxes.
Importantly, Narva stresses that electrical accessories are not an area where workshops or consumers should cut costs, warning that poorquality components can reduce performance, create intermittent faults or, in worst-case scenarios, lead to electrical fires.
Cable management is another standout category for Narva.
Its premium nylon cable ties use virgin Nylon 6/6 material for superior strength, UV resistance, and long-term durability.
Features such as a four-tooth locking mechanism and wider jaws make installation easier while reducing slippage compared with many competing products.
The range also includes P-clips, cable tie mounts, braided sleeve, corrugated tubing, spiral wrap, heatshrink and high-quality tapes, including fleece and PET harness tape commonly used in OE applications.
Fuses, fuse holders and circuit breakers round out the consumables offering, reinforcing Narva’s endto-end electrical strategy.
From blade and MIDI fuses and fuse boxes to manual-reset circuit breakers and Add-A-Circuit solutions, Narva explains the range is designed to support cleaner, safer, and more reliable installations across recreational applications, passenger vehicles, heavy transport, mining, and marine.
For the aftermarket, Narva says its consumables range represents more than just electrical accessories, stating that it is a comprehensive, workshop-focused ecosystem backed by engineering, testing, and decades of local industry expertise – giving installers confidence that every component, no matter how small, is built to perform in Australian conditions.
Narva is as a proudly Australian-owned company, recognised as a market leader in the design, manufacture, and distribution of high-quality automotive lighting and electrical components. For more information, visit www.narva.com.au
The Toyota Hilux has earned its reputation the hard way
It has spent decades hauling tools, towing trailers, crossing paddocks, and chewing through corrugations all over Australia. The good thing about that popularity is there is now a massive aftermarket available for it. If you are planning a HiLux build and want accessories that genuinely improve the vehicle instead of just filling your Instagram feed, ARB says these are five upgrades worth looking at first.
A bull bar is still one of the smartest first additions for a touring or work HiLux. Animal strikes are a reality in Australia and even a minor hit can leave modern vehicles stranded thanks to damaged cooling systems, sensors or headlights.
ARB’s Summit MKII bar for the new HiLux keeps all the practical stuff people actually want: winch compatibility, recovery jack points, antenna mounts, and protection for vulnerable front-end components. The bar is engineered to integrate properly with modern Toyota safety systems too, which is something worth paying attention to when comparing cheaper alternatives.
The Summit MKII uses folded steel construction, a zinc-coated base material, and a textured powder coat finish designed to handle harsh conditions and stone damage.
ARB says suspension is probably the accessory people underestimate most. Throw a canopy, drawers, tools, camping gear, and a bull bar onto a stock HiLux and suddenly the factory suspension starts feeling pretty average. Sagging rear ends, harsh ride quality, and poor handling show up quickly once weight gets added – that’s where a properly matched suspension setup makes a huge difference.
ARB explains that its Old Man Emu range gives people a few different and vehicle-specific options depending on how the vehicle gets used. Nitrocharger Plus suits daily drivers and touring builds, MT64 is aimed more at long-distance comfort and heat control, while BP-51 is designed for people chasing higher-end adjustability and off road performance.
Canopies and trays have come a long way from basic aluminium boxes. Modern setups now focus heavily on modularity, storage efficiency, and integration with roof racks, electrical systems, and touring gear.
ARB’s updated Ascent and Classic canopies feature redesigned mounting systems, cleaner body integration, and improved internal mounting options for things like compressors and power systems. For people wanting a heavier-duty touring or trade setup, the MITS Alloy tray and canopy range offers modular configurations with different canopy lengths, internal layouts, and accessory packages.
Factory underbody protection is usually pretty minimal once you leave maintained roads behind.
ARB’s Under Vehicle Protection kits are designed to shield critical components like steering, transmission, and sump areas using laser-cut and folded steel panels. Recessed mounting hardware also helps stop bolt heads getting smashed on rocks and ruts.
One thing that limits touring range in a HiLux pretty quickly is fuel capacity.
ARB’s Frontier long-range tank increases capacity significantly while keeping weight sensible thanks to its cross-linked polymer construction. Unlike traditional metal tanks, the polymer design flexes with chassis movement and resists impacts without denting. For anyone planning remote

trips, fewer fuel stops and extra peace of mind are pretty hard to argue against.
At the end of the day, the best HiLux builds are usually the ones put together with a purpose. Good accessories should make the vehicle more capable, more reliable and easier to live with day to day.
ARB says that is why a lot of people gravitate towards brands with proven testing, proper engineering, and products designed specifically for Australian conditions, like ARB.

Accurately monitoring battery levels can be the difference between getting the job done, and the embarrassment of flat tools, or worse, a flat start battery.
A fuel gauge for your battery, REDARC’s new RedVision Essentials Display provides clear, instant battery visibility on a bright, uncluttered screen. Powered by the REDARC Smart Battery Monitor, it delivers precise, reliable readings and connects easily to new and existing setups.
With a RedVision Essentials Display onboard, your battery level can be viewed at a glance thanks to its state of charge reading.
With no watts, volts, or amps to interpret, the RedVision Essentials Display clearly communicates how much power you have left, and where the power is coming from.
When it comes to simple and convenient monitoring, RedVision Essentials Display gives you the best of both worlds.
For the trade, accessing a phone to monitor your battery is not always possible, especially for those who use a fleet vehicle.
RedVision Essentials Display works seamlessly without the need for a phone, displaying battery level and charge source all on a physical, hardwired display.
Yet, for those adventurers that want monitoring in the palm of their hand, thanks to the integrated Smart Battery Monitor, battery levels can still be monitored from the RedVision App.
RedVision Essentials Display delivers instant and precise charge readings at a glance through colour LED indicators, glowing green, orange or red depending on the charge level.
When charge does get low, the RedVision Essentials Display features a low state of charge alert, so you know when it’s time to charge.
RedVision Essentials Display is perfect for fleet managers looking to solve simple power needs at scale without complex systems and lengthy installs. Built for tight spaces, installation is quick as it is simple, and setting it up is even easier. Rather than requiring a square hole, RedVision Essentials Display can be mounted from the front using a simpler 51mm hole saw with no need to access the rear of the panel.
Once installed, Bluetooth and R Bus makes connecting the display to your system simple.
An easy addition to any setup, RedVision Essentials Display is compatible with REDARCs wide range of power products.
When paired with a BCDC Alpha or Manager Alpha, you can activate Start Battery Recovery through the

RedVision Essentials Display to back charge a flat start battery in just 15 minutes.
With no phone required, and no hunting down the charger, Start Battery Recovery can be activated at the push of a button with a one million press cycle life.
Compact, and made from a highly durable and impact resistant material, RedVision Essentials Display is Australian Made and rigorously tested to go the distance.
REDARC explains that it uses advanced in-house testing equipment to “shake, bake, and put it through its paces, simulating years of use in days.”
“An easy addition to any setup, RedVision Essentials Display won’t let you down when the job gets tough,” says REDARC.

HSP Vehicle Accessories says it goes beyond the requirements of the Australian Made logo
Most Australians recognise the green and gold kangaroo logo instantly: it is one of the most trusted symbols in the country, with close to 99 percent brand recognition across the population.
“A lot of consumers assume that if something carries the Australian Made logo, every part of it was built right here on home soil,” HSP Vehicle Accessories Head of Sales and Marketing, Ash Bouyer, said.
“The reality is a bit more complicated than that.”
To legally display the Australian Made logo, a product must undergo what’s called a “substantial transformation” in Australia, and more than 50 percent of its production costs must be incurred locally.
“That sounds reasonable on the surface, though the criteria leave room for interpretation,” Ash said.
“Not every component needs to be locally sourced, so the logo can cover a wide range of manufacturing setups.
“Even the logo itself isn’t automatically earned. It is a licensed trademark, paid for annually, with fees starting from as little as $300 depending on a company’s revenue.
“In industries like automotive aftermarket accessories, this distinction is worth understanding.
“A product can carry the logo while still relying on some foreign components, provided the final assembly and enough of the production costs occurred here.
“That’s not the standard we hold ourselves to at HSP - to us, genuinely manufacturing in Australia means sourcing materials locally, employing Australians in skilled roles, and building products that are designed from the ground up for Australian conditions. That’s what we do.”
HSP Vehicle Accessories operates three Victorian manufacturing plants producing core products including its electric Roll R Cover, Tub Racks, and Ladder Racks.
Ash explains that every step of that process, from local material sourcing through to the finished product rolling off the line, happens in Australia.
The accessories are also engineered specifically for the harsh and varied conditions Australians put their vehicles through.
“We actually choose not to use the Australian Made logo,” Ash said.
“Not because we don’t qualify, but because we think what we do goes well beyond it. For us, it is not a marketing badge. It is a commitment.”
Vehicle Engineering Australia offers registered-design rear and front seating upgrades for Ram, Silverado and F-Series owners needing six-seat practicality
Vehicle Engineering Australia has developed a pair of locally engineered seating solutions aimed squarely at Australian families running big US utes such as the Ram 1500, Chevrolet Silverado 1500/2500, and Ford F-150/F-250.
In standard form, these vehicles typically offer two front seats and a three-seat rear bench, limiting them to five occupants.
For many families, particularly those with four small children, that simply isn’t enough.
Vehicle Engineering Australia says it first tackled the rear of the cabin with its Kids x 4 rear seat conversion, designed specifically for small children with a seated shoulder height between 350 mm and 490 mm, allowing four of these sized child passengers to travel across the back row.
However, as Company Director John Wilson notes, that doesn’t solve every use case.
“Once you’ve got older kids, teenagers or even a mother in law to carry, the factory five-seat layout is still a real problem when six people need transport,” John said.
The latest development is a console-replacement adult seat for the front row, turning the cabin into a genuine six-seater while retaining comfort and compliance considerations.
The new centre seat incorporates a lap/sash inertia reel seatbelt, a single child restraint anchor point, and an integrated headrest. The seatback folds down to act as a centre armrest when not in use.
Vehicle Engineering Australia highlights that there are restrictions on placing child booster seats in the front row, with requirements varying across Australian states and territories, and owners should check local regulations before use.
For these products, the engineering has focused heavily on safety and integration, with Finite Element Analysis used to confirm the strength of the adult seat structure.
Meanwhile, John says critical headspace requirements have been addressed in line with VSB5, the standard governing the manufacture of aftermarket seats.

According to Ash, that commitment has tangible benefits for buyers too.
“Local manufacturing typically means shorter lead times, tighter quality control under Australian safety standards, and a smaller environmental footprint compared to imported goods that have crossed multiple borders before reaching a driveway,” Ash said.
“When you’re investing in accessories for your ute, the origin of the product matters more than the sticker on the box.
“The Australian Made logo is a useful starting point, but for those who want the full picture, it pays to look at where and how something was built.
“With HSP, the answer is straightforward: all core products are 100 percent designed, sourced, and manufactured in Australia.”
To learn more about HSP, visit www.hsputelids.com

Production relies on 3D scanning and printing, laser cutting and precision plate steel bending, and new side panels have been developed to integrate with the original air-conditioning controls, delivering a finished appearance that, in John’s words, “looks like it came from the factory.” Gear shifters originally located in the console or on the dash/column have been successfully repositioned through careful redesign.
Both the Kids x 4 rear conversion and the consoleto-adult front seat hold Registered Design status.

Soul+Wolf’s Overdrive platform is tackling the parts return crunch hitting Australian 4WD retailers
The 4WD accessories market is booming on the back of improved digital experiences and growing consumer preference for buying online.
But there is a problem that is costing Australian retailers more than they realise.
Across ecommerce broadly, the average return rate is 16.9 percent. In automotive, it is closer to 20 percent.
The biggest culprit responsible for nearly half of all returns is fitment failure – a customer orders a part, it doesn’t fit their vehicle, and it comes back.
If you multiply that across a catalogue of hundreds of SKUs and a customer base of 4WD owners with highly specific vehicle configurations, the cost adds up fast.
This is especially so when you consider processing a single return can run between 20 percent and 65 percent of the item’s original value.
“This is not a customer service problem, it is a technology problem,” Soul+Wolf Digital Managing Director, Marco Rosano, said.
“And the pressure doesn’t stop there. In early 2025, the ACCC swept more than 2,000 Australian online retailers and uncovered widespread instances of misleading return policies.
“For brands with lots of returns and without clear, compliant returns processes, the exposure is real.
“The root cause is straightforward. Most automotive brands selling online are doing so on ecommerce platforms that were never built for this industry.
“Generic ecommerce solutions don’t understand fitment complexity, catalogue depth, or the way 4WD buyers actually shop. By vehicle first, part second.
“Without a proper rego or VIN-based fitment search, customers are left to guess. And when they guess wrong, the brand can wear the cost. This is the problem Overdrive was built to solve.”
Launched by the Melbourne-based automotive digital agency Soul+Wolf, Overdrive is a Shopify accelerator purpose-built for automotive brands and parts retailers.
It brings fitment search, catalogue complexity and a modern, conversion-focused storefront together without the cost and timeline of a custom build.
“With Overdrive, brands selling 4WD accessories can give their customers a precise, vehiclespecific shopping experience from the moment they arrive on site,” Marco said.

“This means fewer wrong orders. Fewer returns. Less regulatory risk. And a digital presence that works as hard as the products it sells.
“We invite you to visit www.getoverdrive.store to explore the platform and book a demo – brands that sign up for 12 months and mention AAAA receive first three months free.”

Disc Brakes Australia (DBA) says its upgrade kits are a 4WDers ‘go-to’ choice
Towing a loaded trailer down a steep descent. Hauling tools and materials to the next job site. Pushing hard through a track day. These are the moments when standard brake systems show their limits, and when drivers need braking performance they can truly rely on.
Heat buildup, brake fade, and inconsistent pedal feel aren’t just performance issues; they are safety concerns that can undermine driver confidence and vehicle control.
The real-world performance gap
Disc Brakes Australia (DBA) says most OEM brake systems are designed for average use cases, not the demands that Australian drivers regularly place on their vehicles.
When a tradie loads up their HiLux with tools and materials, or when a weekend warrior takes their Ranger down a steep mountain descent, it says those factory components are operating well outside their comfort zone, resulting in extended stopping distances, mushy pedal feel, and the kind of brake fade that makes even experienced drivers nervous.
DBA says its Upgrade Performance Brake Kits address these shortcomings head-on with a comprehensive system that’s been engineered to work together seamlessly.
Engineered technology that delivers
At the core of every DBA Upgrade Brake Kit are the 4000 Series T3 slotted rotors, enhanced with DBA’s patented Kangaroo Paw ventilation system. The T3 slotting increases the number of out-gassing exit points, helping to evacuate brake gases, dust and debris to maintain a cleaner, more consistent rotor–pad contact.
Internally, 144 diamond- and teardrop-shaped pillars form the Kangaroo Paw design, improving structural stability between the friction faces while increasing airflow and dissipating heat up to 20 percent more effectively than traditional straight vane rotors.

Complementing the rotors are DBA’s XP-level highperformance brake pads, engineered for superior friction stability, fade resistance, and consistent pedal feel even under extreme temperatures.
Paired with larger calipers and steel-braided brake lines – reportedly reducing pedal effort by up to 60 percent – DBA says the complete kit delivers sharper bite, shorter stopping distances, and greater stopping power.
With these integrated components working together to maximise brake efficiency, durability and driver confidence when it matters most, DBA says the result is a system that not only performs better but lasts longer.
It states the enhanced thermal management, and superior materials translate to extended component life and reduced brake maintenance intervals, meaning fewer comebacks and warranty claims for your workshop.
For your track-focused customers driving Commodores or Falcons, DBA says the benefits extend beyond basic stopping power.
The larger calipers are said to provide increased clamping force and bite, while the advanced rotor design ensures consistent performance through multiple heat cycles.

DBA says this means predictable braking lap after lap, allowing drivers to brake later and carry more speed through corners with confidence.
Off-road enthusiasts and commercial users will also appreciate how these kits maintain performance under load, says DBA, which states whether it is controlling descent on steep grades or managing the additional weight of cargo and trailers, the enhanced thermal capacity and improved pedal feel provide the control needed for demanding applications.
From a workshop perspective, DBA says these kits represent a significant opportunity.
Rather than piecing together individual components from different suppliers, DBA says with its kits you can offer customers a complete, engineered solution that is designed to work as a system; reducing installation complexity, minimising compatibility concerns, and providing a single point of warranty coverage.
The expanded range now covers Australia’s most popular workhorses and performance vehicles: Ford Ranger and Falcon, Holden Commodore and Colorado, Isuzu D-MAX, Toyota HiLux, and LandCruiser 70/200/300 Series, plus Mazda BT-50.
DBA says the complete DBA Upgrade Performance Brake Kit range is in stock and available through the DBA national distribution network right now with no waiting and no backorders.
For workshops looking to differentiate their service offering and provide genuine value to performanceminded customers, DBA concludes that these kits deliver the combination of proven technology, comprehensive vehicle coverage, and immediate availability that drives both customer satisfaction and business growth.
DBA invites you to contact your DBA representative to discuss how these upgrade kits can enhance your brake service capabilities.

Get Electronic says it is so much more than “just brakes”
Modern 4WD vehicles rely heavily on the ABS (Antilock Braking System) far beyond simply preventing wheel lock-up under braking.
Today’s ABS modules have evolved into complex vehicle dynamics controllers that interact with traction control, stability systems, engine management, throttle control, hill descent systems, electronic diffs, and even transmission behaviour.
“At Get Electronic, we see a huge number of ABS module and hydraulic block failures coming through the workshop from both New Zealand and Australia,” Get Electronic’s David Bourke said.
“As vehicles become more advanced, these systems are now responsible for monitoring and controlling almost every aspect of how a 4WD behaves on and off the road.
“A modern ABS system is constantly processing information from highly sensitive wheel speed sensors and magnetic or reluctor readout rings mounted on the driveline or wheel hubs.
“Even the slightest contamination, damaged tone ring, incorrect wheel bearing fitment, or fluidrelated issue can create faults that trigger warning lights and disable critical safety systems.”
Hydraulic brake fluid condition also plays a major role in ABS reliability.
“Incorrect or contaminated brake fluids can damage internal valves, pumps, accumulators, and seals inside the ABS hydraulic control unit,” David said.
“Moisture contamination alone can create corrosion internally, leading to sticking valves, pressure faults, and pump motor failures.
“What makes these systems particularly interesting is how deeply integrated they are with the rest of the vehicle. A wheel speed fault may not only affect braking performance – it can also disable traction control, reduce engine power, interfere with throttle response, or place the vehicle into limp mode.
“In many modern 4WD platforms, the ABS module effectively acts as a central control hub for vehicle stability and traction management.”
As electronics and vehicle control systems continue to evolve, ABS technology is becoming one of the most important and sophisticated systems on the vehicle.
“Diagnosing and repairing these modules now

requires advanced diagnostic equipment, component-level electronics
knowledge, hydraulic understanding, and realworld testing capabilities,” David said.
“At Get Electronic, we specialise in diagnosing and repairing ABS modules, hydraulic control units, and associated electronics for the automotive trade.
“From communication faults and wheel speed errors through to internal hydraulic and pump motor failures, these systems are becoming more advanced and honestly, that’s what makes working on them so exciting.”

Transmissions are among the most important components in vehicles
In order for transmissions to function properly, they should be protected and maintained, with Liqui Moly explaining that high-quality transmission fluids such as those it supplies playing a central role here.
Gear oils are special lubricants used exclusively in vehicle transmissions. They play a decisive role in the durability and trouble-free functioning of the transmission.
Failure to change gear oils in time can cause problems. Contamination or abrasion particles that accumulate in the oil over time lead to increased wear of the gears.
In addition, water can penetrate in the course of time, for example due to condensation or leaks. Gear oils can also lose their viscosity due to the high operating temperatures and constant stress. If the oil becomes too thin, it can no longer protect the gears sufficiently.
Only regular gear oil changes ensure reliable transmission function without shifting problems.
In order to avoid problems with transmission fluids, it is also recommended to routinely check the oil level and oil quality. If there are any signs of contamination, viscosity loss or other abnormalities, the oil should be changed immediately.
Why is it important to use the right gear oil?
Different transmissions have different designs. This also leads to special requirements that a transmission fluid must meet.
If an oil is used that does not attain the values required by the manufacturer and therefore does not meet the correct specifications or have the correct viscosity, it cannot fulfill its tasks optimally. When selecting the gear oil, it is therefore essential to observe the manufacturer’s approval for your vehicle.
However, the quality of the transmission fluid also plays an essential role.
Only gear oils of high quality ensure that it performs optimally both during cold starts and at maximum operating temperatures.

Liqui Moly warns that using the wrong or inferior oil can affect the performance of the transmission and cause serious damage.
Liqui Moly gear oils
Liqui Moly says its modern gear oils are both of high quality and officially approved by many manufacturers.
It says that often, they even exceed the manufacturer’s specifications.
In addition to their quality, Liqui Moly says its gear oils are particularly distinguished by their specific formulation for different transmission types, such as manual transmissions, axle drives, and differentials.
Liqui Moly explains that its gear oils have been specially developed to prevent the prevailing problems and extend the service life of vehicle transmissions.
It says they provide first-class lubrication for a wide range of vehicles, with advanced formulations effectively reducing wear and ensuring smooth operation, even under extreme conditions.
In addition, they contain special additives that reduce gear wear to a minimum and thus maximise the efficiency of the transmission, whether in older or modern vehicles.
Further, Liqui Moly states they maintain their viscosity over a wide temperature range, which means they offer reliable protection in both cold and hot conditions.
And thanks to their excellent aging resistance, Liqui Moly asserts that its gear oils also need to be changed less often, with the long change intervals saving costs and protecting the environment.
Which gear oil is right for your car?
With the proper care, compliance with change intervals and the correct gear oil, the transmission runs smoothly, quietly and reliably.
Choosing a high-quality oil can also help prevent many transmission problems from occurring in the first place. This in turn ultimately extends the service life of the vehicle and avoids costly repairs. Liqui Moly says you can easily find out which of its gear oils is the one you need for your vehicle in its handy oil guide at www.liqui-moly.com/en/au/ service/oil-guide.html.

Modern 4WDs are working harder than ever before, explains Clutch Industries
Between towing caravans, carrying trade loads, touring with added accessories, larger tyres, and engine tuning upgrades, many vehicles are now operating well beyond the conditions their original clutch was designed for.
While an OE clutch is suitable for standard driving conditions, increased vehicle weight and higher torque loads can quickly expose the limitations of a factory clutch system, explains Clutch Industries, which states this has driven strong demand for heavy-duty clutch upgrades across the Australian aftermarket.
The company says one of the fastest-growing ranges in this category is its 4Terrain Heavy Duty clutch system.
Designed and engineered in Australia for harsh Australasian conditions, the range has been developed specifically for towing, commercial use, touring, and off-road driving applications.

The 4Terrain Heavy Duty range focuses on increasing torque capacity and durability while still maintaining drivability.
At the centre of the system is a high-clamp SG iron cover assembly designed to improve clamping force and holding performance under load.
The range includes Clutch Industries’ patented ER2 Groove Design technology.
This CNC-machined groove pattern on the pressure plate friction face increases the clutch’s Mean Effective Radius (MER), allowing the clutch to transmit more torque without increasing pedal effort. The groove design also assists with heat management – an important factor for vehicles used in demanding conditions such as towing, sand driving, steep terrain, or heavy commercial use where clutch temperatures can rise significantly. Durability is another key focus of the range. Clutch Industries states the 4Terrain Heavy Duty clutch disc features friction material approximately 25 percent thicker than many standard OE designs, helping extend clutch life in high-load applications. Backing this durability is a three-year / 50,000km warranty, giving workshops and vehicle owners added confidence when selecting an upgrade clutch solution.
Each kit is supplied as a complete package, including components such as release bearings or

CSCs, spigot bearings, and clutch alignment tools where required.
Replacement flywheel options are also available for many popular applications, reducing installation delays and eliminating the need for flywheel machining.
As modern 4WDs continue to evolve, heavy-duty clutch upgrades are increasingly becoming a practical reliability modification rather than simply a performance upgrade.
For drivers regularly towing, carrying loads, or operating modified vehicles, a heavy-duty clutch system can deliver improved durability, better torque handling, and greater confidence in demanding conditions.

When it comes to trailer or caravan brakes, there are several different options available
The options are namely hydraulic, mechanical and electric actuation; the system you select will depend on several variables including type of towable and application.
Bendix explains that one of the most popular systems, particularly in larger, later model caravans is electric brakes, because they offer smoother braking and are easily paired with brake controllers such as Bendix’s Ultimate Tow and Ultimate Tow Portable products, offering heightened levels of performance, control and safety for owners.
In an electric system, when the brakes are applied, a signal is sent to the trailer brakes through the trailer plug – the strength of the signal varies

depending on how hard the driver presses on the brake pedal.
With electric drum brakes, the brake assembly in the trailer or caravan includes electromagnets which engage once the signal is received.
The arm that the magnet is mounted to then expands the brake shoe against the drum, creating friction.
The concept is similar in trailers fitted with electric disc brakes, however the electrical signal is transferred to an actuator (technically referred to as electric-over-hydraulic actuator) which includes an electric motor; this then drives a pump that pressurises brake fluid in the trailer’s brake lines, forcing the caliper pistons and brake pads against the rotors.
In both instances, when coupled with brake controllers owners of towables equipped with electric brake systems gain many benefits.
Bendix says in the case of the Bendix Utimate Tow controllers, they allow braking to be easily modulated by adjusting the in-cabin dial left for a lower setting or right for maximum setting. This adjustment might be needed when descending

steep hills or mountain roads, providing the driver with additional controlled braking capacity.
They also feature override functions, so if the driver notices that the trailer/caravan is swaying, they press the override button which applies the trailer brakes independently of the tow vehicle, pulling the trailer or caravan into line and minimising the swaying effect.
Bendix says it is worth remembering that by law, all trailers with a gross trailer mass (the weight of the trailer with everything in it) of between 750kg and 2,000kg need to be fitted with either a mechanical or electrical braking system. And anything over 2,000kg requires an electric, or electric over hydraulic brake and an electric break-away controller.

The high performance diesel specialist is ready to assist customers with the Ford Ranger Super Duty variant
HPD is proud to confirm it has been able to source a Ford Ranger Super Duty to make sure its market-leading Diesel Next Gen Ranger/Everest/ Volkswagen Amarok V6 intercooler, transcooler, and catch can kits suit this popular variant.
“We can confirm that HPD’s Aussie made intercooler and transcooler kits fit. A small modification on mounting brackets was required on the ARB bull bar fitted to this example,” HPD Sales Lead, Rob Varga, said.
“The Super Duty will require its own HPD catch can kit, which should be available by the time you read this article.”
Why the big demand?
Rob says that just like it has previously experienced with 300 Series Landcruiser, many Ranger owners are telling HPD that the factory cooling arrangement is not good enough for towing.
“HPD products are considered by many to be the best on the market to cope with the extra heat generated in the drivetrain when towing typical modern 2.8 tonne plus caravans,” Rob said.
“Everything we do is done properly, the brackets, the welding, the shroud, everything! Nobody makes kits like us.
“Dave Mitchell our boss and leader overengineers everything! It is there for life,” boasts Varga.
The overheating issue is said to be further compounded by all the usual modifications for touring and off-roading like bigger tyres, bars, racks, upgraded suspension, canopies, drawers, and so on, all creating even more strain and therefore more heat in the already stressed V6 engine and ten-speed gearbox.
Thicker than most
After a thorough research and development program, HPD’s Next Gen Ranger intercooler,

transcooler, and catch can kits were released in October 2023.
The huge all alloy, 76mm thick bar and plate intercooler unit reportedly provides a massive 222 percent increase in cooling volume compared to the small plastic/aluminium factory unit, according to HPD.
“HPD are the only Australian manufacturer to offer a 50mm thick bar and plate transcooler core with end tanks CNC machined from solid billet alloy,” Rob claims.
“These transcooler end tanks have a minimum wall thickness of 3mm and are bonded to the super-efficient bar and plate core by class leading tig welding.”
Impressive results have been reported by HPD during in-house dyno testing.
“We saw impressive cold side temperature reductions of 30 – 45°C compared to the far smaller plastic/aluminium factory intercooler

unit,” HPD’s Karl Venning, who oversaw testing during the R&D program, said.
“With the HPD intercooler fitted, no matter how hard we pushed, we didn’t see intake temperatures above 40°C.”
Four ingredients for class-leading performance
Importantly, HPD says the intercooler’s impressive reduction in intake temps does not come at the expense of higher coolant temps.
It explains that this is thanks to the following four reasons:
1. The bigger alloy bar and plate intercooler creates lower intake temperatures which translates to lower EGTs and lower engine temperature, putting less strain on the engine cooling system.
2. Unlike other products, HPD says its transcooler is integrated neatly on top of the intercooler instead of in front, which adds airflow restriction to the intercooler (and radiator).
3. During the comprehensive design and testing process, HPD says the coolers and bracketry were all positioned to receive optimum airflow, without negatively impacting other parts of the vehicle. Drawing on HPD’s vast experience and expertise, the team says they identified the need to develop a bespoke fan shroud. Like the OEM plastic fan shroud, the HPD replacement aluminium shroud seals against the radiator fan to draw and channel air with maximum efficiency through the front of the vehicle to the HPD coolers as well as the factory cooling system.
4. Fitting a HPD transmission cooler kit to the Ford Ranger provides the transmission its own tried and proven air-cooled system rather than contributing heat to the engine cooling system (or receiving hot coolant to the transcooler).

The HPD intercooler and transcooler kit was updated mid 2025 with redesigned bracketry.
“The revised kit was developed due to a couple of Next Gen Ranger owners fitting bigger aftermarket radiators as advised for GVM upgrades,” HPD Owner, David Mitchell, said.
Fitting a bigger radiator required the AC condenser to be moved further forward providing poor clearance between the big HPD intercooler and the condenser.
The new brackets allow adjustability so that the HPD intercooler can be mounted as far forward as required to provide ample clearance for the condenser.

“Being a market leader, we used this opportunity to reengineer the intercooler and transcooler kits to withstand body movement on the chassis better than the original kit during extreme offroad conditions,” David said.
“We genuinely want our customers to have the best products available.”
The massive crack
Inevitably, for such an immensely popular vehicle, around Q3 of 2025, HPD says the “Crack” happened – factory ECUs could now be accessed, and professional custom tuning packages became available.
“Several tuners around Australia recognised the superiority of Australian made HPD intercoolers to others on the market, in terms of performance, quality and ease of fitment,” David said.
“This lifted demand even further. One highly regarded tuning company reported that with the HPD intercooler fitted, astonishingly, they did not see intake temps above 35°C during their dyno testing compared to well over 60°C with the factory intercooler.”
Prevention is better than the repair bill
More than ever, consumers and workshops are taking great care in their choices.
“We’re finding that new vehicle owners (and of course workshops), now more than ever, spend a lot of time researching how to improve and prolong the life of their investment,” HPD Marketing Manager, Peter Melegh, said.
“That’s why they call us! They understand that engine and transmission protection measures implemented now benefit their vehicles and their hip pocket years down the track, when their vehicle is no longer under warranty.”

These water-resistant starter motors are available for common 4WD applications
4WD enthusiasts love testing their vehicles to the limit, often in remote locations.
If something goes wrong, hours can be spent trying to get the vehicle running again – not to mention the cost of a remote recovery.
OEX explains it has designed and tested an innovative water-resistant starter that handles serious water crossings.
OEX has now released its first water-resistant starter motors for common 4WD applications, with nine units covering 23 applications for 4WD enthusiasts.
The unit is sealed and has a customised drain/ breather tube to help prevent water ingress and other contaminants.

OEX has also designed a front seal to protect against the most vulnerable point for possible water ingress. As a starter heats up, it naturally draws moisture in, so OEX says it is trying to defy the laws of physics with this design, pushing the boundaries of innovation to solve common design and application challenges.
Another recent improvement from OEX includes upgrading the brush holder on 79 and 200 series Landcruiser alternators to avoid premature failure – a particularly vulnerable component due to the low position of the alternator in the engine bay. When the engine runs, air flows from the rear of the alternator to cool down the rectifier, rotor, and stator.

Davies Craig says its engine and transmission oil coolers do just that
Davies Craig offers a comprehensive range of highperformance transmission and engine oil coolers, ranging from the contemporary Ultra-Cool fin and tube style cooler cores to the Hydra-Cool 19mm thick plate and fin design, up to its 32mm or 50mm heavy-duty Universal Oil Cooler stacked plate cores.
The company says these are an essential accessory for any engine and/or transmission which is subjected to extreme towing, off-roading, or racing conditions; stating they are very effective at keeping your engine and/or the transmission oil at its optimum operating temperature.
These stacked plate cores offer high heat transfer rates, allowing for faster dissipation of heat, and the 32mm and 50mm stacked plate cores are supplied with AN10 ORB female fittings for quick installation.
Davies Craig says you can further enhance your cooling by mounting a Davies Craig fully reversible eight-inch Thermatic Electric Cooling Fan, which reportedly provides excellent flexibility thanks to its installation options.
Davies Craig also recommends the fitting of a Digital Thermatic Fan Switch to ensure your Engine and/ or Transmission Oil Cooler Combo performs at its optimum potential in all environmental conditions.
“Engine and Automatic Transmission Oil Coolers
have developed into very sophisticated vehicle aftermarket accessories with a broad range available from Davies Craig to suit your particular application,” Davies Craig Sales and Marketing Manager, John Benson, said.
“Heat is the biggest killer of automatic transmissions! Automatic transmission fluid (ATF) cools, lubricates and cleans internal transmission components and when transmission temperatures exceed 93°c (200°f), the ability of ATF to perform is greatly diminished.
“Many engine and transmission failures have been caused either by overheating and/or neglect and can prove expensive.
“The climatic and heavier road traffic conditions we now find ourselves in, the increased stop-start traffic flows, and higher ambient temperatures are further compounded by the heavier pay loads we impose on our vehicles.
“Therefore, our engines and transmissions need to be given as much relief as possible, as some of the Original Equipment installed is barely sufficient –and with many modern engines, and in particular automatic transmissions, being sealed, checking the fluid levels can be problematic.
“Some vehicles have a built-in factory transmission oil cooler, but if you intend to use your vehicle for extensive towing and/or travel in hilly and/or sandy

In wet, dusty, muddy, or off-road conditions, the water, dust, and mud can easily enter the brush assembly through this airflow, leading to brush, brush spring, and slip ring failure.
OEX says its innovation is evident in its design of an alternator with semi-sealed brush holders, which minimises this entry of water, dust, and mud into the brush assembly, preventing premature failure. Additionally, OEX states it offers two high-output alternators for these applications, with a custommade upgrade cable, fuse and fuse holder included in the box.
The OEX range is available at Repco and NAPA. For more information, visit www.repcotrade.com or www.napaparts.com.au

During Australia’s temporary high sulphur fuel period, Bluechem says it has you covered
The Australian Government has temporarily relaxed fuel quality standards to support supply, allowing higher sulphur petrol and diesel into the market.
While this fuel is legal and safe for short-term use, increased sulphur can accelerate deposits, load emissions systems and increase wear; particularly in modern engines. This presents an opportunity for preventative maintenance, not alarm.
According to Bluechem, higher sulphur fuels can contribute to injector and combustion deposits, blocked oxygen sensors and catalytic converters, reduced fuel economy and engine response, and higher emissions and failed diesel regens.
Fuel issues are often invisible until performance drops or warning lights appear. The solution, according to Bluechem, is system-specific protection.
It states its Bluechem additives clean, protect, and restore critical fuel and emissions components.
Rather than a one - size - fits - all approach, Bluechem targets the specific issues created by lower-grade fuel.
Low-quality fuels increase exhaust contamination, triggering fault codes, reduced efficiency and failed emissions tests.
Bluechem’s Oxicat Oxygen Sensor and Catalytic Converter cleans oxygen sensors and catalytic converters without disassembly, helps minimise sulphur-related loading, and removes carbon and soot buildup from exhaust pathways.
Bluechem states that severe contamination from poor fuel can overwhelm standard cleaners, noting that its Diesel System Super Clean deep cleans the entire diesel system, helps manage deposit formation associated with fuel quality variation, and reduces smoke while restoring efficiency and improving combustion.
Common Rail Diesel Clean and Protect – 375ml
Higher sulphur fuels reduce lubricity and increase wear in precision diesel components.
Bluechem says its Common Rail Diesel Clean and

Protect offers high-strength cleaning for modern common rail diesel injectors and helps manage deposit formulation association with fuel quality variation.
It also protects high-pressure fuel pumps and injector tips.
Bluechem notes lower-grade fuels leave deposits that reduce power and increase consumption. It explains that its Fuel System Cleaner cleans injectors, intake valves, and combustion chambers, while restoring spray pattern and fuel atomisation. It also assists in maintaining performance and fuel economy.

Australia’s 4x4 market continues to evolve rapidly
Modern dual cab utes and touring vehicles are now expected to do more than ever before, towing heavier loads, carrying increased accessories, and travelling longer distances through some of the harshest conditions on earth.
From caravans and boats to remote touring setups and GVM upgraded vehicles, today’s 4X4s operate under significantly higher stress than previous generations.
Increased engine outputs, tighter emissions systems, and demanding operating conditions mean lubrication performance has never been more critical.
Modern turbo diesel engines generate more power and torque from smaller capacities, while operating at higher temperatures and pressures. Add sustained towing, corrugations, soft sand, steep climbs and extreme ambient temperatures, and the demands placed on engine oils, transmission fluids and driveline lubricants increase dramatically.
At the same time, advanced emissions systems such as Diesel Particulate Filters, Exhaust Gas Recirculation, and AdBlue technologies require modern lubricant formulations that deliver both performance and compatibility.
Using the wrong oil or extending fluids beyond their intended operating range can contribute to increased wear, reduced efficiency and costly component failures.
For workshops and trade professionals, selecting the correct lubricant package has become essential to maintaining reliability, protecting warranties and ensuring long term vehicle performance.
Penrite says its advanced range of engine oils, transmission fluids, gear oils, and coolants has been developed specifically for Australian conditions and the unique demands placed on modern 4x4 vehicles.
Whether operating in high-load towing applications, remote touring environments, or modified offroad setups, Penrite says its products are engineered to deliver consistent protection where it matters most.
Complete driveline protection is particularly important in modern 4X4 applications. While engine oil often receives the most attention,

transmissions, transfer cases, and differentials are also subjected to extreme heat, shock loads and prolonged stress during offroad operation.
Penrite notes that selecting premium lubricants across the entire driveline helps maintain efficiency, reduce wear and support long term durability.
As more Australians continue to invest in offroad touring and recreational towing, reliability remains one of the most important priorities for both vehicle owners and workshops alike.
In remote environments, performance is not simply about convenience, it can be the difference between completing the trip or facing an expensive recovery.
Celebrating a century of innovation
Backed by a century of Australian lubricant innovation, Penrite says it continues to support workshops, trade professionals and enthusiasts with products designed to perform in real world Australian conditions.
From daily driven dual cab utes to heavily equipped touring vehicles, Penrite says it delivers proven protection beyond the blacktop.
At the Australian Auto Aftermarket Expo (AAAExpo), Penrite made a strong statement, showing exactly how it blends heritage, innovation, and commercial value for workshops across the country.
“A century in the Australian automotive landscape is not just a milestone, it is a proof point of consistency, product integrity and deep understanding of local conditions,” Penrite Oil Chief Executive Officer, Toby Dymond, said.
“For workshop operators, this translates into confidence, confidence in product performance, supply reliability and technical backing.
“In a competitive market where workshops are under pressure to deliver quality, efficiency and profitability, the value of aligning with a proven brand cannot be overstated.”

United Fuel Injection says the future of Australia’s aftermarket depends on recognising repair as a strategic safeguard for the industry itself
The Australian diesel aftermarket relies on a network of skilled repairers, specialist equipment, and technical knowledge that allows complex fuel injection and turbocharger systems to be diagnosed, remanufactured, and tested locally.
As OEM-captive parts and repair models become more common, independent repair infrastructure is increasingly at risk, driving up long-term vehicle ownership costs.
Modern fuel injection and turbocharger units are high-precision systems operating under exceptionally fine tolerances.
In today’s 4WD market, even minor faults can result in significant engine damage.
Effective repair is only possible with specialist diagnostic test benches, precision calibration, and controlled assembly environments, supported by highly trained technicians with extensive experience across modern diesel platforms. When repair capability declines, workshops lose options, vehicle downtime increases, costs rise, and technical knowledge permanently disappears.
A repair-first approach recognises local
remanufacturing as essential industry infrastructure. When performed correctly, it restores components to OEM performance standards or greater through controlled disassembly, inspection, component replacement, calibration, and final testing.
United Fuel Injection says it is a clear example of long-term investment in this capability.
As one of the largest diesel fuel injection and turbocharger repairers in Australia, the business has committed heavily to specialised tooling, cleanroom assembly, and ongoing technical training.
To support the growing 4WD sector, common rail injector repair, calibration, and coding are completed utilising advanced, fully operational Bosch DCI700 and Hartridge CRi-PRO test benches, ensuring each component meets or exceeds OEM specifications.
Where remanufacturing is not available, United Fuel Injection stocks new genuine pumps, injectors, and turbochargers, alongside premium catch cans and secondary fuel filtration kits to protect these sensitive parts from water and hard particle contamination.

Through its sister company, United Automotive Solutions, genuine repair components are supplied at wholesale to pump rooms and specialists, while new diesel injectors and pumps are supplied at trade to the broader automotive industry.
Together, United Fuel Injection says this ecosystem ensures repair remains a viable, efficient option nationwide.
“The future of Australia’s aftermarket depends on recognising repair as a strategic safeguard for the industry itself. Continued investment in skills, tooling, and repair-first thinking is essential to protect the trade moving forward,” says United Fuel Injection.

In this article, Sakura explains why the fifth injector filter matters
Modern diesel Toyotas like the HiLux, Prado and Fortuner have built a reputation across Australia for toughness and reliability.
But with tighter emissions standards came more complex systems – particularly the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) and its supporting components.
Sakura says one often overlooked but critical part of that system is the fifth injector filter.
Mounted within the exhaust system, the fifth injector plays a vital role in DPF regeneration. It delivers fuel directly into the exhaust stream to increase temperature and burn off soot build-up.
However, like any fuel-controlled component, it relies on clean fuel supply to function properly –and that’s where the filter comes in.
The Sakura F-11170, equivalent to Toyota 23390 0E011, is designed specifically for this application. While it might not be as widely recognised as a standard fuel filter, Sakura says its job is just as important.
Contaminants such as dirt, varnish, or degraded fuel can clog or restrict the fifth injector, leading to poor spray patterns or complete failure.
When that happens, Sakura explains DPF regeneration becomes ineffective, and that’s when warning lights, limp mode and costly repair bills start to surface.
In Australian conditions, this becomes even more relevant as dust, off-road use and varying fuel quality all increase the likelihood of contamination entering the system.
For trade workshops and parts interpreters, Sakura says it is crucial to understand that the fifth injector filter should be treated as a serviceable component, rather than a lifetime fit-and-forget item.
Service interval is key, says Sakura.
While Toyota does not always list a strict replacement interval for the fifth injector filter, Sakura says best practice in Australia is to inspect or replace it every 40,000 to 60,000 km, or sooner in severe operating conditions such as heavy towing or off-road work.
It says incorporating the F-11170 into major service schedules helps prevent blockages and maintains correct injector operation.
From a practical standpoint, replacing the Sakura F-11170 during scheduled servicing or when addressing DPF faults is a smart preventative move.
GCG Turbos says it is ready to help you refurbish, replace or upgrade
When it comes to replacing a failed turbocharger there are several options available to the customer. The options listed below are applicable to most popular makes and models, but for this article GCG Turbos has focused on the popular Toyota Hilux fitted with a 3.0L 1KD turbo diesel engine.
It states the most common, albeit usually the most expensive option, is the OEM replacement. What you get is a turbocharger that is identical to the one being replaced. Fitting is a simple job as these units bolt-on in the same location, using the same fittings etc.
Then there is the Aftermarket Alternative, with GCG Turbos explaining its Red Boost program offers a complete drop-in turbocharger designed

to replace the factory OEM unit at a significant cost saving, delivering OEM fitment and performance plus a Garrett 12-month warranty.
Or in many cases, the original turbo can be repaired or refurbished.
GCG Turbos states companies specialising in turbo rebuilds, like its Sydney-based business, offer a Turbo Exchange (TEX) program where you get a fully refurbished, balanced and flowtested turbocharger, at a fraction of the OEM replacement cost.
The TEX Hilux Stage 1 and Stage 2 upgrades bolt directly in the factory location and require no additional fabrication.
Because these refurbished turbos use the original compressor and turbine housings, GCG Turbos states they are just as easy to install as the OEM units, with the TEX turbos coming complete with an actuator, a gasket kit, and a with a 12-month warranty.
It explains an upgraded turbo will provide extra power and torque – ideal for towing or off-road adventures – and states this option is well worth considering if the vehicle’s owner is planning additional performance modifications or already has some installed.

Sakura states it is a low-cost component compared with the expense of injector replacement or full DPF cleaning, and in many cases, a simple filter replacement can restore proper function and avoid unnecessary downtime.
For the aftermarket, this also presents an opportunity.
As more late-model Toyota diesels enter the service cycle, awareness of components like the fifth injector filter will separate good workshops from great ones, says Sakura, which states: small part, big impact. It keeps vehicles running reliably.” For more information, visit www.sakurafilters.com.au

Featuring upgraded compressor and turbine wheels, these upgrades are said to offer considerable performance gains and cost only a fraction more than the OEM replacement turbos.
GCG Turbos says it is worth noting here that a turbocharger is only one part of a much larger system.
It says upgrading ancillary components like the intercooler, air intake piping, and the exhaust system will help in achieving the optimum engine performance.
GCG Turbos also recommends re-calibrating the engine to meet safe Exhaust Gas Temperatures (EGTs) and Lambda readings.
The turbos featured in this article suit Toyota Hilux 2002-2016 models with a 3.0L, 1KD-FTV, D4D Common Rail engine.

For nearly 100 years, Lovells have pursued a simple strategy: be better, not cheaper
For almost a century, Lovells Automotive Systems says Australians have trusted its team to build products that perform when conditions are at their worst.
Not when the road is smooth, the vehicle is empty, or the weather is perfect – but when a LandCruiser is towing a caravan across the Nullarbor when it is half flooded and corrugated; when mining vehicles carry equipment into remote Australia; when United Nations vehicles respond to emergencies off-road; and when Defence platforms demand reliability over excuses.
“This is where Australian manufacturing proves its value. It is also why the automotive aftermarket matters far more to this country than many policymakers recognise,” Lovells Group Managing Director, Simon Crane, said.
“Consumers ultimately benefit too, because these products are proven in the real world, not just engineered in theory.
“What is often overlooked is that many of these upgrades are no longer simply a matter of choice. As vehicles carry more, tow more, and operate under higher expectations, factors like safety, compliance and real world capability increasingly drive the need for these products.
“Australia does not need manufacturing that only works on paper. It needs products that survive reality.”
The Australian automotive aftermarket is one of the nation’s quiet industrial success stories. It contributes billions to the economy, supports hundreds of thousands of jobs, and keeps

Australia moving long after vehicles leave the showroom floor.
It also plays a vital role in extending the life and capability of vehicles long after they leave the showroom, ensuring they can continue to meet the demands placed on them in the real world.
“Yet debate too often still treats automotive manufacturing through the outdated lens of massmarket vehicle assembly,” Simon said.
“The discussion begins and ends with whether Australia can build complete cars again, as though that alone defines national capability. That misses the point entirely.
“Australia already possesses globally competitive automotive capability. It exists in specialist manufacturers, engineers, modifiers, distributors, and innovators across the aftermarket sectorbusinesses that survived by becoming world-class at solving specific, high-stakes problems under real operating conditions.
“Lovells is one of them. For nearly 100 years, we have pursued a simple strategy: be better, not cheaper.
“That decision has preserved and built Australian capability in suspension engineering, manufacturing, and design.”
As Lovells approaches 2030 and its centenary, it is not slowing down. In many respects, it is entering a new phase of growth.
Lovells is widely known for GVM/GCM upgrades, towing systems, and heavy-duty suspension products trusted by serious four-wheel drivers, fleets, and caravan owners across Australia.
“These remain central to the business, but they sit on top of something much larger: nearly a
century of accumulated Australian engineering and manufacturing capability,” Simon said. That capability now extends well beyond recreational off-road use, with Lovells moving into the ranks of primary suspension suppliers for major passenger rail builders globally.
“Mining operations are increasingly deploying crushing and screening equipment on Lovells elastomeric suspension modules - environments where downtime is measured in millions of dollars and failure is not an option,” Simon explained.
“At the same time, Australian Lovells customers will soon have access to a broader installation network than ever before, ensuring advanced Australian-made products can be fitted across both metropolitan and regional Australia.”
Staying close to customers across the country has allowed Lovells to continually refine its products against real world feedback, rather than designing in isolation.
The next generation of products are also arriving, including onboard payload monitoring systems, heavy-duty axle upgrades for higher payloads, advanced towing systems and couplings rated to 7.5 tonnes ATM, and integrated towing and suspension technologies designed specifically for Australian conditions.
“This is what modern Australian manufacturing looks like: specialised, technical, highly engineered, tightly connected to customer needs, and increasingly valuable globally,” Simon said.
“The reality is Australia was never going to win a race to the bottom on labour costs. It cannot outscale China, nor out-subsidise the United States, nor compete in commodity manufacturing against low-cost industrial economies.
“What it can do is build better products than almost anyone else. That is why Lovells differentials have been fitted to Arctic trucks, because they work when lives depend on them.
“That has been Lovells’ strategy for decades. We have not chased the cheapest production model. Instead, we have invested in engineering, testing, research and development, facilities, and people.
“Our newly opened Newcastle headquarters and manufacturing operation reflects that philosophy. Everything that can be manufactured locally is made locally, and growth is already driving further expansion planning.
“That investment is why Lovells remains globally competitive while still manufacturing in Australia nearly a century after it began.
“It also highlights a broader strategic truth: when industrial capability is lost, it is not just factories that disappear. Engineers, toolmakers, metallurgists, designers, supply-chain depth, testing capability, and production knowledge are lost too. Resilience goes with them.”
Recent debate about whether Australia should return to vehicle manufacturing has predictably split opinion between reminiscence and dismissal.
“But the more important issue sits beneath the politics,” Simon stated.
“The pandemic, geopolitical instability, and global supply chain disruption exposed how vulnerable advanced economies become when critical manufacturing capability is outsourced offshore. Australia should not ignore that lesson.
“The uncomfortable reality is that Australia has already lost significant industrial capability. The fact it can no longer manufacture something as fundamental as a tyre should concern anyone serious about national industry strength.
“Dependence on overseas supply chains for

once-basic goods has become a strategic vulnerability.
“The key question now is whether Australia retains enough industrial capability to rebuild in strategic areas when required.
“The answer is yes – but only because companies across the aftermarket sector refused to disappear.
“Most Australian manufacturers did not survive the past three decades. Those that did were forced through a prolonged test of efficiency, adaptability, and resilience under globalisation and relentless cost pressure.
“Survival required one lesson above all: Australian

manufacturing only works when you become indispensable.”
Simon says Lovells survived because it found a global niche and dominated it.
“We built suspension systems capable of handling extreme loads and punishing environments better than most competitors anywhere in the world,” he said.
“That capability has made us a supplier of choice in more than 30 export markets.
“Just as importantly, this capability strengthens the broader Australian industrial ecosystem.
“Every successful manufacturer supports workshops, installers, modifiers, distributors, and service providers.
“Every engineering capability retained locally adds depth to sovereign industrial capacity.
“Every advanced product designed and made here becomes harder to replace if it is ever lost.”
The automotive aftermarket is now one of the last remaining proving grounds for Australian manufacturing capability at scale.
Unlike industries that have disappeared offshore, it continues to innovate, export, and expand because it stays close to real-world demand.
“Choosing Lovells supports local jobs, families, and capability,” Simon concluded.
“Sticker price is temporary; capability is not. As Lovells approaches its centenary, confidence in Australian manufacturing is shaped not by ease, but by endurance – by the fact that surviving in Australia has forced manufacturers to become sharper, more specialised, and more resilient than almost anywhere else in the world.”

Bendix has added CanBus integration to its LandCruiser 70 Series Secondary Park Brake
Bendix’s Ultimate 4WD Electric Secondary Park Brake (EPB) for 76, 78 and 79 LandCruisers has now been further with CanBus integration.
The CanBus feature allows the EPB to automatically actuate under certain situations such as when any cabin door is open (with speed below 10 km/h), when the engine is turned off, and when the vehicle is placed in ‘park’ in the case of GDJL auto variants.

As an extra safety precaution, the EPB cannot be released unless the brake foot pedal is pressed.
As with its predecessor, the upgrade offers complete ‘bolt-on’ fitment – and complements the existing OE park brake – which means there’s no change to the vehicle’s hydraulic mechanism, pad shape, and original park brake; maintaining ADR-compliance.
The Bendix EPB uses single piston calipers that act on the rear disc brake rotors. Also included is the wiring loom, electronic control module, attractive OEM style control switch for dashboard installation and one pair of DB1200 Ultimate 4WD Brake Pads.
Installing the EPB is a straightforward process for a mechanic or brake technician with detailed installation guidelines provided.
When it comes to servicing, the EPB features a ‘service mode’ to wind back the EPB allowing for brake pad change – there is a card detailing this process provided within each kit.
There’s also good news for owners of the original EPB, because they can purchase the CAN as an add-on for their existing package.

In this article, Airbag Man discusses why its OE-equivalent Euro parts matter in modern air suspension
As European luxury vehicles continue to advance their air suspension systems, manufacturers such as BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and Range Rover have helped redefine expectations for ride comfort, load levelling, handling, and vehicle integration.
Modern air suspension systems are no longer standalone mechanical components, but integrated systems that rely on precise communication between compressors, valve blocks, sensors, and control modules.
As these systems become increasingly sophisticated, the quality and precision of replacement components play a critical role in maintaining system performance, ride quality, and long-term reliability.
Airbag Man offers a broad range of OEM and aftermarket replacement air suspension components, including air struts, air springs, compressors, and valve blocks for a wide range of European vehicles including Land Rover, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, and Bentley.
The company explains that its extensive range of OE-equivalent replacement components is designed to provide reliable fitment, compatibility, and performance for modern air suspension systems.
Automakers mandate strict material specifications, dimensional tolerance, and testing protocols to ensure suspension components operate seamlessly within complex vehicle systems.
Precision fitment is especially important in modern air suspension systems, where even slight deviation can impact ride height calibration, handling, compressor workload, or overall performance.
Backed by quality management frameworks such as ISO9001, Airbag Man states its OE-sized airbags and air struts are engineered to match original factory specifications and tolerance.
It says these replacement components are also supported by a 12-month manufacturer’s warranty, providing added confidence for workshops and vehicle owners alike.
For modern air suspension systems, Airbag Man says OE-level engineering is particularly important due to the integration between mechanical, pneumatic, and electronic systems; as compressors, valve blocks, air springs, and sensors must all work together precisely to maintain vehicle ride height, comfort, and stability.
One example offered by Airbag Man is AMK

Automotive, a global OEM supplier known for developing high-quality air suspension compressors for premium vehicle manufacturers. Products such as the AMK Air Compressor Replacement for Land Rover, available through Airbag Man are manufactured to OE specifications and produced under the same conditions as original equipment components.
Airbag Man says AMK compressors are recognised for their compact and lightweight design, low noise, and vibration emissions, and efficient pressure generation.
It notes its intelligent drying systems and advanced air management concepts help improve compressor durability and long-term system reliability.
In closed air supply systems, unused compressed air can also be recovered and stored, improving overall system efficiency.
Modern compressor technology also supports advanced suspension functions commonly found in European luxury vehicles, including automatic ride levelling, load adjustment, boarding assistance, and loading-height control.
These features have helped air suspension systems evolve well beyond the capabilities of traditional suspension designs.
As demand for OE-equivalent European suspension components continues to grow across both luxury and mainstream vehicle platforms, the need for high-quality replacement parts is expected to increase alongside it.
For workshops and vehicle owners alike, Airbag Man says selecting components engineered to meet original specifications remains an important factor in maintaining vehicle comfort, performance, and long-term reliability.
Since 1995, Airbag Man has been an Australian manufacturer of air suspension systems.
The company designs and produces high-quality solutions for a wide range of applications, including light vehicles (4x4 and 4x2), heavy vehicles, trailers, caravans, and motorhomes; providing safe and effective load management.

Now available through Fulcrum Suspensions
Formula 4x4 has released a new two-inch lift kit for the Mitsubishi MV Triton, with SuperPro Upper Control Arms now also available for the platform. These products have been engineered to complement each other and together, reportedly address “every known weak point on the MV Triton platform,” says Fulcrum Suspensions.
Those behind the Formula 4x4 lift kit and the SuperPro UCAs explain they have been designed to work together, and when fitted as a pair, deliver a complete front-to-rear suspension upgrade that resolves the three issues now becoming familiar on the new Triton: weak front dampening, prematurely seized ball joints, and harsh rear bump stop contact under load.
The Formula 4x4 lift kit ships as a complete bolt-in package with pre-assembled front struts, rear leaf springs, rear shock absorbers, U-bolts, and bushings, delivering a two-inch lift along with the dampening and rear travel improvements.
The SuperPro UCAs cover the rest, correcting front end geometry after the lift, restoring alignment specs, and replacing the factory ball joints with stronger units that don’t suffer the same seizing issue.
Fulcrum Suspensions explains that pre-assembled front struts cut bench time significantly compared to traditional strut rebuilds, with a combined fit of both products and a post-fitment wheel alignment typically completed in a single working day – which means more jobs through the bay and higher daily revenue.
It says fitting both products together also removes the comeback risk that often comes with lifted Tritons, since the UCAs handle the alignment and ball joint issues a lift kit alone can’t address.
The Formula 4x4 lift kit is backed by a five-year unlimited kilometre national warranty, while the SuperPro UCAs carry a lifetime warranty, both honoured nationally.
Because each product solves a different problem, workshops also have a natural upsell path: lift kit first, UCAs as the recommended addition, or both together as the complete fix.
Both products are stocked by Fulcrum Suspensions and supplied to Fulcrum dealers nationally.

Workshops not yet partnered with Fulcrum are invited by the organisation to enquire about becoming a Fulcrum authorised dealer and joining the national Click & Fit network.
Fulcrum Suspensions boasts almost 50 years of experience supporting passenger, 4WD, and commercial vehicles.
Backed by a nationwide workshop network of 200-plus installers nationwide and a team of highly skilled technicians, Fulcrum delivers assessments, upgrades, and expert advice to keep vehicles compliant, reliable, and ready for every journey.

In Australia’s hard-working 4WD and SUV market, body mounts are one of those components that often go unnoticed, until they fail
Yet for workshops servicing ageing utility vehicles, touring 4WDs and high-kilometre SUVs, worn body mounts can have a major impact on ride quality, cabin noise and even vehicle alignment.
Body mounts are designed to connect the vehicle body to the chassis while isolating occupants from vibration, harshness and road shock.
Typically positioned at 10 to 12 mounting points between the body and frame, they use rubber bushings combined with steel components to cushion movement and reduce noise transfer through the vehicle.
Over time, however, constant load, off-road use, towing and exposure to heat, oil and environmental conditions can cause the rubber to compress, crack or deteriorate.
The result can be excessive cabin vibration, body movement, rattles, squeaks, misaligned panels and, in severe cases, driveline or steering geometry issues.
For workshops, body mount replacement can

deliver a dramatic improvement in vehicle feel –particularly on older 4WDs that customers may simply assume have become “rough with age.”
Recognising growing demand in this category, Transgold has expanded its range of body mount kits to support many of Australia’s most popular SUV and 4WD applications.
The range now includes more than 200 part numbers covering major brands including Toyota, Nissan, Mitsubishi and Holden.
Importantly for repairers, Transgold supplies body mounts in complete kits tailored to specific vehicle models, helping streamline parts ordering and installation.
The company says quality and durability have been key priorities in the range development.
Manufactured using steel and high-grade rubber compounds, the mounts are designed to maximise vibration and noise reduction while maintaining long-term flexibility and structural integrity.
As direct OEM replacements, the mounts are engineered for straightforward fitment and to preserve original vehicle ride characteristics, which Transgold says is a critical factor for workshops wanting reliable, trouble-free installations. Further, Transgold says all manufacturing partners are audited for quality materials and production reliability, with suppliers certified to ISO:9001 or TS:16949 standards. The range is also backed by a 12 month/20,000km warranty.

When it comes to getting the most out of your vehicle, whether navigating rugged off-road terrain or hauling heavy gear around town, having the right suspension setup can make all the difference. Upgrading your shock absorbers is one of the most effective ways to improve performance, safety, and comfort across all conditions.
If you are looking for that upgrade, ZF Aftermarket says you should look no further than SACHS MAX, a specialised range of SACHS shock absorbers for four-wheel-drives, off-road, and utility vehicles.
A brand of ZF Aftermarket, SACHS shock absorbers are said to be renowned for their original

equipment quality and innovative technology, with ZF stating they are ranked as “the number one shock absorber in European car parc coverage.”
Delivering what is described as “an ideal balance of performance and dynamics,” SACHS shock absorbers are said to provide excellent grip and cornering behaviour, with these benefits and more extending to the SACHS MAX range.
Engineered specifically for Australia’s harsh conditions, SACHS MAX shock absorbers support vehicles with up to a two-inch lift, making them well-suited to demanding environments.
Featuring larger pistons and an increased bore size, the shock absorbers are built for exceptional durability while maintaining high safety standards. This big bore design results in a reduction of heat and subsequently an improvement of consistency with heavy loads in rough terrain, especially when towing.
In addition, ZF Aftermarket explains that SACHS MAX shock absorbers feature 40 percent more oil, helping maintain consistent performance as the oil viscosity resists thinning out due to heat build-up.

It states this is particularly beneficial during repeated compression and/or extension on bumpy roads or under heavy loads.
According to ZF Aftermarket, the advantages of SACHS MAX also extend beyond off-road usage, with the shock absorbers also offering “superior comfort” in the day-to-day city driving environment.
SACHS MAX offers fitments for many of the most popular four-wheel drive, off-road, and utility vehicles from manufacturers including Toyota, Ford, Holden, Isuzu, Volkswagen, Mazda, and Nissan.

GPC unveils Aluminium Bull Bars for the modern 4x4
According to GPC, there’s a new benchmark in front-end protection, and it is lighter, smarter, and built for the way today’s 4X4 enthusiasts drive.
GPC has introduced a new range of Aluminium Bull Bars under the Drivetech 4x4 banner, which have been engineered to upgrade your vehicle with both uncompromising protection and unmistakable style.
For years, steel bull bars have been the default choice for off-roaders. Tough? Absolutely. Heavy? Without question.
GPC says Drivetech 4x4’s No-Loop Aluminium Bull Bars challenge that tradition, delivering impressive strength without the weight penalty.
Crafted from 4mm thick aluminium, these bars provide advanced front-end protection while helping to reduce overall vehicle mass – an advantage that benefits handling, suspension performance, and fuel efficiency.
And unlike steel, aluminium won’t rust. GPC says that means long-term durability without the creeping corrosion that can compromise both appearance and performance over time.
Finished in a sleek black powder coat, these bull
bars not only resist corrosion but also deliver a rugged, premium look that complements modern 4x4 styling.
Designed with serious adventurers in mind, the DT4x4 Aluminium Bull Bar range is built to integrate seamlessly with today’s vehicles.
Each bar is ADR, ADAS, and airbag compatible, ensuring compliance and peace of mind without sacrificing functionality.
Full side stone guards provide added protection against debris and harsh terrain, while internal bracing enhances structural integrity when it matters most.
Functionality is at the forefront of the design. These bars are winch compatible up to 9,500 lbs (4,300 kg), making them ready for recovery situations straight out of the box. They are also designed to suit bolt-on flares for a clean, cohesive fit and are compatible with the DTW950012VD system.
For added practicality, each unit comes fitted with two 4,000 kg-rated tow points – reinforcing their role as serious recovery equipment, not just cosmetic upgrades.
Superior Engineering is ready to assist
For Australian 4WD owners, load carrying and vehicle protection are no longer simple addons, they are essential components of building a capable touring or work-ready vehicle.
As modern 4WDs are pushed harder and loaded heavier than ever before, the importance of improved suspension components, GVM upgrades, and protective accessories continues to grow.
Superior Engineering says developing products that can handle these real-world demands has always been at the core of what it does.
“Whether it’s carrying camping gear for an extended touring trip, or setting up a vehicle for remote offroad work, today’s 4WDs are expected to do far more than manufacturers originally intended,”
Superior Engineering Technical Transcriber, Adam AK, said.
“Additional fuel, recovery gear, drawer systems, rooftop tents and camping setups all place increased stress on suspension, chassis components, and the vehicle’s handling.
“Without the right supporting upgrades, excessive load can negatively affect comfort, braking, steering response and overall safety.
“This is where quality suspension and loadcarrying components become critical.”
Superior Engineering has spent years developing suspension solutions specifically designed for Australian conditions and heavy off-road applications.
“Rather than offering generic lift kits, our focus is on building complete kits that improve load handling, ride quality and off-road capability while improving vehicle control both on and off the road,” Adam said.
“Modern OEM suspension must balance comfort and durability. Vehicles that spend time both on the highway and in rough terrain require matched spring rates, shock valving and supporting suspension geometry to perform correctly under varying loads.”
Superior Engineering’s range of suspension products, including coil conversions, remote reservoir shock absorbers and GVM upgrade solutions, have been developed to provide consistent performance whether the vehicle is lightly loaded or fully equipped for touring.
“At Superior Engineering, we understand that accessories should complement the overall vehicle package rather than compromise it,” Samuel said.
“Every modification added to a vehicle affects weight distribution, suspension performance and drivability.

GPC says the result is a bull bar that blends performance engineering with refined styling, which is lighter, stronger, and smarter. Those behind the product state it is protection designed not just to withstand the demands of offroad adventure, but to enhance the overall driving experience.
For 4x4 owners looking to upgrade their vehicle with a modern solution that balances strength, weight, and durability, GPC says its new Aluminium Bull Bar range delivers exactly what today’s drivers demand, without compromise. For more information, visit www.gpcasiapac.com

Australian Ultimate Suspension says it can ensure your 4WD is built for what you throw at it
As accessories, loads and technology change, the suspension beneath your 4WD becomes critical to safety, comfort and reliability.
Australian Ultimate Suspension’s Ken O’Keefe says the right suspension setup is the foundation of any serious 4WD build.
Modern vehicles often carry bull bars, winches, canopies, drawers, long-range tanks, roof racks and towing equipment.
While these upgrades boost practicality, they dramatically affect weight distribution, ride height, braking and handling.
“This is where a properly matched suspension system becomes essential,” Ken said.
“A suspension upgrade should not be treated as a cosmetic lift alone. It should be designed around the vehicle’s real-world use, including accessory weight, towing requirements, touring loads, offroad conditions and daily driving comfort.”

Australian Ultimate Suspension applies this approach to both established and new platforms, including the Kia Tasman.
By assessing vehicle design, expected loads, accessory fitment and driving conditions early, the team develops tailored suspension packages that offer a complete and practical upgrade pathway. Ken also highlights the importance of ongoing suspension servicing.
“Suspension servicing is one of the most important, yet often overlooked, parts of vehicle maintenance,” Ken said.
