ISPCA The ISPCA is the leading animal welfare charity in Ireland.

Our role is to prevent cruelty to animals, to promote animal welfare and to proactively relieve animal suffering in Ireland. Established in 1949, we are a registered charity No CHY5619 and are registered with the Charities Regulatory Authority No. 20008723.

The ISPCA is at the forefront of preventing animal cruelty in Ireland. We currently have 9 inspectors investigating animal cruelty in 17 counties in Ireland. Our confidential National Animal Helpline received over 16,000 calls in 2016 of which 3,500 calls were cases of animal cruelty that required ISPCA Inspectorate visits.

Vision: To end cruelty to animals in Ireland.

Mission: Through education, legislation and on-going support for affiliated member societies, we can prevent cruelty to animals.

Operational Centres: We operate 2 centres; The ISPCA National Animal Centre, Keenagh, Co. Longford and the ISPCA Equine Rescue Centre based near Mallow, Co. Cork.

400 equines have been seized by or surrendered to the ISPCA Inspectorate in the past 5 years.

In March 2017, we launched our annual Inspectorate report which highlighted that we have received 53,000 calls to our national cruelty helpline; 11,065 investigations were initiated; 2,795 animals were seized and 92 prosecutions initiated since we were granted statutory powers under the Animal Health and Welfare Act 2013 in May 2014.

Over 30 prosecutions have now been finalised in court.
