Located in the filli courtyard near the Heriot watt campus, the selected site was chosen to host the festival of learning. This would be a festival where academics and fun collide in a harmonious unison . A theme a cosmic viridescents was explored and selected to educated people about he most recent discussions regarding solar power. ( it’s generation and usage).

VISION
In recent times, heavy discussions of how solar energy is the center of green energy and providing clean, sustainable, reliable, low-cost energy for constant use in homes, offices, universities etc. They shine light on the importance of living a more green and sustainable led life, as living in the middle east shows us how minor changes and attempts towards the wellbeing of the environment have led to major impacts. The future goal is to boost these sustainable impacts and thus we try to spread this knowledge among the students. As Heriot Watt students our university goals speak loud on shaping tomorrow together and celebrating each other. By excelling in research and enterprise we use our academic endeavor to make these outstanding impacts on society by addressing world issues with a collaborative approach of different fields. Inspiring the world and other generations.
Around every entrance points of this festival , multiple administrative stations are placed dealing with the registration and management of the workshop stations , the sales of tickets for the carnivals: with pricing details ( 1dhs 5dhs and 10dhs worth tickets) , with event details in the main pavilion etc. The sales and funds made from this festival are all given to different charity organizations by the end of the day. These stations act as information desk guiding the visitors to their point of interest.

EXHIBITION AREA
The workshop tables are created around the already existing bases of the trees in the site. Attached to the top of these trees are tensile canopy shading devices that create an inspiring interaction between light and shadow. The center stage pavilion overlooks the workshop. It is a basic frame structure, with rolls of paper attached to the stings that are hooked onto the frame. These are rolls are colored and assembled onto the frame by the visitors, offering a community-driven, handcrafted, and interactive exhibition WORKSHOP ZONE COLORED ACRYLIC SHEET

This is the stalls in the morning which hosts academic activities by various clubs, courses and organizations from a variety of fields. Students, Professors and parents alike get to interact with one another and be enlightened by new solar power energy products and advancements.
HAMMOCK AREA
At around 5pm, the stalls changes into stalls which hosts carnival games and prizes. The games vary from well-known carnival games such as basketball, throwing rings onto bottles etc, Many of the games use sustainable materials for the games. The lights which lights up the stalls are from the solar power stored during the day.

FISHING LINE
The hammock area allows a place of relaxation and spots to pause with families and friends. It is carefully shaded by the surrounding trees and overarching canopies along the walkway. The layout of the festival is pretty open and connects a lot of space, however for the hammock area we wanted to create a sense of privacy. Especially from the stage and central area, we decided to block of the view with the mural.
The stage zone where all the events take place throughout the day is made more attractive and interactive with the Roll pavilion. Adding its own element of fun, during the day having a play of natural light coming through the rolls and during the night bringing in people together with their art and skills making it more personal. The rolls attached to the PVC pipes are recycled cardboard rolls. this aim to show how different materials could be used and reused by individuals thus promoting our theme.

The food stalls are centralized around Fili restaurant’s area. The stalls roof are made with different colored acrylics to once again show the play of light and help visitors appreciate the “natural exhibition” by the sun. The 1m tall plant boxes are extended and made into seatings. The seating area is also heavily decorated with banners from sponsors and our main vision for the festival. Wednesday

The exhibition is held throughout the extended queue of drapes. A simple and cost-effective modular, where the drapes are hanging from the top, cut out in different shapes and lengths to create a soft ombre effect as you walk through the exhibition walkway, which dances with the wind during this wonderful season. In terms of the color of the cloth, we opted for shades of green as it relates to sustainability, but also green is also the color of growth, the color of spring, of renewal and rebirth. Throughout the exhibition pieces of art, and mini equipment samples related to solar energy will be displayed to show people the existing technology.

GROUP SITE ANALYSIS

For the final project this semester the site analysis was split into various groups. In this topic we looked into density and diversity regarding the UAE and Dubai, as well as Sheikh Zayed Road. These topics were explored in terms of buildings, typologies, populations, events, modes of transport.
DENSITY AND DIVERSITY
POPULATION DENSITIES
Sheikh Zayed Rd is an intervention of many diversities. It is a place where different cultures, people and countries unit at. People love different backgrounds End age groups are found. The number of UAE citizens is around 11.5% and the remaining 88.5% made up of expatriate workers. The largest group of non-UAE nationals are Indians, Bangladeshi, Pakistani, Egyptian , Filipino, other. Sheikh Zayed Road is not only a tangle of people but also the buildings as well are having different conversations with one another. In different manners diversity is emphasized at this landmark. Buildings of Low Rise, High Rise, towers, and villa typology of buildings are found in and around the site. Different types of road networks also connect different modes of transports. Highway, Internal Roads, Bridges, Service Roads, Metro Line, Pedestrian and E-Scooter Footpaths. E311 is a collaboration of variety of Activities (Marathon, U.A.E Police car show, etc.) And Movements on this road where cars don’t stop at signals, they stop at different food cuisine. Through out the year the landscaping and the climate also narrates how diverse it is during different months and seasons.

DENSITY AND DIVERSITY POPULATION DENSITY & BUILDING HEIGHTS Population densities within an area directly co-relates to the building height and typologies. in the red zone due to high riser there is a greater population. Whereas in the yellow zone due to low rise building there is a lower occupancy. There is the exception of areas with low rise typologies but high densities due to unit sharing increasing the occupancies
POPULATION GROWTH COMPARISONS Every half of a century population of the planet doubles itself. In New York the population in 50 years only grew from 16 million people to 19 million people and only 20% of the population own driver’s license . In shanghai city the population grew from 6 million to 30 million which is 5 times in 50 years and only 10% of the population have their driver’s license . But in Dubai the fastest growing city in the world the population grew from 73,000 to 3.3 million people which is a growth multiplied 50 times in 50 years. Dubai 2 million people have a driver’s license and 2.5 million cars are registered which makes 60% of Dubai residents drive to move around and the rest use public transport

N.A.M.A.D NATIONAL ACADEMY AND MUSEUM OF ART AND DESIGN
A national academy and museum was designed on Sheikh Zayed Road, located in the heart of Dubai, along with a theater component. Various aspects of the viability and need for such a project were searched and exploded as well as the value the selected theme bought to the community and people of Dubai.
THEME DIGITAL MEDIA
In recent years, technology has become omnipresent in every aspect of our daily life and can be seen to directly co-relate to our happiness. The UAE and the World hope in the near future for further innovations and research in the field of technology. Society consumes content from social media at such a rapid pace that it has become the cornerstone in URBAN METABOLISM. With the growth of digital media, many fields have seen tremendous advancements. One of these field being the fashion and graphics industry. Different cities, host fashion weeks for designers from all around the world. Even in Dubai, the Arab fashion week is an annual event held in various hotels. This museum will act as a HUB for international fashion events and its prestigious guests. It will also be a place where upcoming designers from all around the world can showcase their digital media work. This museum and academy will become a place for innovation and collaboration for bright minded people. Addressing sustainability the UN views digital media as an essential tool to allow the goals to be achieved. The 2 these selected to be explored in relation to digital media and fashion are: Decent work and responsible consumption.

Over the last 50 years UAE has grown considerably. This achievement can be witnessed from the countries infrastructure development. In the future the UAE minister hope that the use of digital media in various fields increases by 1.6% each year. With a large number of population made up of expatriates, the UAE has a vary diversity populations with SZR having a certain level of iconism to it.
Along the SZR , mostly high rise building populate its edges with various typologies from residential to commercial. The aim of this project ws to develop a museum mile with the burj and museum of the future to draw tourist together. The 30m high restriction would also allow for a breath of fresh air into the highly populated area and give a new experience. Due to strict master planning regulations the High rise Along SZR follow a similar pattern of commercial ground floor, followed by residential at the top and a parking building set back from the building . Over time these regulations have created this comfortable shaded green corridor for the pedestrians.
