I
’ve always been facinated by the blur and soft light in photos that create that “ethereal” effect. That was my desired look for this photoshoot.
I decided to do most of the blur manipulation while capturing the pictures opposed to in post production editing. I found that this made the blur look more authentic.
I used an old cassette case to reinforce the haziness of the blur when
the objective.
The main objective for this photoshoot was to test my skills and take myself out of my comfort zone.
This was my first solo project in the role of art director, stylist and phototgrapher.
I didnt have many connections to help execute this idea but I knew I was more than capable.

For this shoot, I had my two beautiful friends Zoe and Flora Aleesha assisted me in modeling era-specific curated outfits, drawing inspiration from a fusion of 60s mod fashion and 90s officewear. The wardrobe took significant cues from the 1999 film “Gobstopper,” particularly from the character Courtney Shane, who embodies many 60s silhouettes. Her costumes highlight traditional femininity and conservatism, elements that lend themselves well to office attire.

The influence of 1960s fashion is deeply intertwined with the second wave of feminism and its impact on clothing. An example is Zoe’s A-line mini skirt, reminiscent of the era’s embrace of sexual liberty and women’s rebellion against traditional norms. Conversely, the cardigans worn by Flora and Zoe underscore workplace modesty, balancing modernity and tradition.
In makeup, Flora’s green eye makeup pays tribute to the 60s, heavily inspired by the iconic model Twiggy, with her signature bottom lashes and eyeliner style. This stylistic choice enhances the nostalgic feel of the outfits.
Overall, the collection blends historical fashion elements with contemporary officewear, creating a nostalgic yet relevant look. The haze of nostalgia continually influences our daily realities, infusing them with echoes of past eras.
