Robert Jones 1933-2021
Robert Jones was born September 10, 1933 to the late Isaac Jones and Beatrice Clayton. He confessed to Christ in 1979 then he joined and became an active member of Sunrise Baptist Church becoming a Deacon and leading the Board of Trustees for many decades. Deacon Jones served his country in the United States Navy, where he became a Prize Fighter. Upon discharge, he worked at the VA Hospital as a Nurse’s Assistant, and retired after 30 years of service. He was a licensed barber once owning Jones Barber Shop and retired from Headquarters in 2018. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends. He was a people person and a big jokester, who never met a stranger. On March 3, 1953, he united in marriage to the love of his life, Myrtle Lee Kirkpatrick of Bossier City. They were married for 40 years before she preceded him in death on June 9, 1993. To this union 4 children were born, Tuwana Faye Jones, Tyrone Jose’ Jones, Benita Jones Harris. He was preceded in death by one of his children, Robert Renee Jones. God called Deacon Jones home on March 9, 2021 to reunite with many of his loved ones. In addition to his 3 surviving children, he leaves to cherish his memory 5 sisters Francine Brown, Barbara Lynn Thompson, Shirley Jean Jackson, Loretta Joyce Lewis, Deborah Sharon Wilson; 1 brother Issac Jones, Jr. all of Los Angeles, CA. One sister-in-law Jessie Kirkpatrick; 1 son-in-law Arsdale Harris III; 4 granddaughters Carmina Jones (Jonathan), Jamela Jones-Plater (Duntrea), Jasmine Jones, Avari Harris; 2 grandsons Quantez Jones, Arsdale Harris IV; 6 great granddaughters; 5 great grandsons, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Thelma Beryl Hudson, beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, 88, born in Norwich England, passed away peacefully March 9, 2021. Funeral Service celebrating her life will be held 10:00 am Saturday, March 20, 2021 at the Hill Crest Funeral Home, 601 Hwy 80, Haughton, Louisiana, with long-time friend, Billy Weatherall officiating. Visitation will be held Friday, March 19, between 6:00 and 8:00pm, also at Hill Crest. Thelma came to the United States as a young girl to marry Pat and became an “Air Force Wife”. She lovingly raised her five children around the world, proudly became a U.S. citizen and settled in Bossier City Louisiana. Thelma is preceded in death by: her parents; her sister; and her husband, James (Pat) Partridge Hudson Jr. She is survived by: daughter, Penny Wimbrough and husband Clyde; sons James Hudson and wife Janet, Ian Hudson and wife Diane, David Hudson and Kevin Hudson and wife Judy; ten grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.
