Dr. Larry Tenaschuk, our 2020-2021 Chair, started off the meeting by welcoming all attendees and guests and thanking the ACD Executive for their commitment and hard work throughout the year. He reviewed the accomplishments of the year highlighting the beautiful coin celebrating the 30-year anniversary of the Ontario Section of the ACD and designed by our vice-chair Dr. Paul Romanson. And he was not remiss in mentioning the well attended and excellent Core 1 course hosted by the ACD-OS and presented by Dr. Ouanounou on the “Top 10 prescribed drugs: What do you need to know?”. Fellows from other Canadian sections and Regency 4 were also invited to attend and many did. Dr. Tenaschuk advised our fellows that he had named a Constitution and Bylaws committee which had started updating our C & B however the work would continue with a new committee into 2022 under the leadership of Dr. Paul Romanson although a vote would be taken later in the meeting on agreed upon changes. Dr. Tenaschuk mentioned several initiatives aimed at reaching out to ACD-OS fellows such as the introduction of the “News You Can Use” bulletin and the Sarah McLaughlin concert hosted by our sponsor TD Wealth Management. On behalf of the ACD-OS he expressed pride in the ACD-OS Annual Newsletter and thanked the editor Dr. Sonia Slawuta-Shulakewych for her hard work in bringing it to fruition. FROM THE SECTION 4 REGENT
The ACD Section 4 Regent, Dr. Terry Norris, thanked the past presidents and welcomed the new fellows. He congratulated the Ontario Section on being at the forefront of the Regency in supporting our SPEA chapters, in attending ACD AGMs and of course the wonderful dinners at the ACDOS AGMs. He thanked the Ontario section for inviting Regency 4 to our lecture and suggested that it would be great if the Ontario section could host an Ethics lecture at the ODA ASM. Mentioning the importance of nominations in building the ACD, he encouraged the section to nominate at least 15 nominees and ensure that deans of both dental faculties are nominated as ACD Fellows. He congratulated ACD-OS in our supportive relationship with the SPEA chapters, commenting that Ontario and Indiana were the best SPEA chapters in the ACD. He noted how unusual but how wonderful it was that Ontario SPEA representatives were sponsored to attend the ACD AGMs and invited to attend the ACD-OS AGMs and encouraged us to continue with this into the future. After introducing the acronym PCSD (Post Covid Stress Disorder) he invited everyone to the Houston meeting, congratulated ACD-OS on the great work and offered his help and blessings to the incoming chair.
