Rungis market is a member of the World Union of Wholesale Markets WUWM and has international sponsorships such as in China, Kazakstan, India, Vietnam, Peru, Ukraine. With a mixed administration (public-private), with 30 French banks, there are 1,300 companies, 12,000 people working and a movement of money of US$7,000 million.

It offers fresh products such as fish, meat, fruits, vegetables, cheese and even fresh flowers that are sold here every day in such large quantities that an entire train station and highway exit have been built to serve it.

5.3.1 Strategic location

The criteria were the following: • A site with vast empty expanses (600 hectares), easily buildable. • Central in relation to the main highways, railways and airways. • Easy access for Paris and provincial buyers and sellers. • Handy for incoming goods.
