2 wine corks.

A glue gun.

7 thin straight twigs and a thick one.

A small red pom-pom.

Scissors with sharp ends (or an awl).

Step-by-step instructions 1. We will start with the torso of the deer. Take one cork and make a hole using scissors or an awl in its upper part. The diameter of the hole must be enough that you could shove in two twigs inside. But the cork should not be pierced through.

After that, make the same hole in the lower part of the cork on the same side with an equal diameter.

2. Put two twigs into the first hole and other two into the second at the angle approximately 30 – 45 degree between each pair. Put the glue into each hole to solidify twigs and let it dry.

3. Turn over the torso and make one more hole for a tail approximately on the same level with back hooves. Attach a tail twig with a little angle and put glue.

4. Now we start working on the head. Take another cork and make two holes near each other for the antlers. Put one twig in each hole and solidify with glue.

5. After the glue on both parts dried, you need a short but thick twig to be the neck of the deer. Make one hole in each cork to hold the neck. Put the thick twig inside the torso hole, put glue and let in dry. After that, put the other side of this twig into another hole on the head part. Put the glue and let it dry.

6. Attach the bell to the neck of the deer and glue a pom-pom like a nose. Shove in two pins to the head to be eyes.

You can use a lot of different things as embellishments: beads, bows, pipecleaners. You can also paint the corks the colors you like or wrap them with tissue.

Also, instead of twigs you can use different kind of sticks or wire and instead of the antlers pipe-cleaners, etc. The main idea is to use corks as a head and a torso, bur how you deer would look like is a question only of your imagination. Be careful working with an awl. It is better for adults to help with piercing holes in corks especially if children are under 14.
