Employee Highlight: Abby Nelson

Abby was born in Milwaukee, WI, but she grew up in the small town of Eagle, WI. Her mom had three biological sons and then later met her dad at a telephone company they both worked at. Her parents then went on to adopt nine children, bless their hearts, so Abby has ten brothers and one sister! In Abby’s words, “It was crazy growing up in a big family, but also quite fun. I suppose you could call it beau琀ful chaos. I think the best part of having a big family and being adopted is that although we are all very di昀erent, we all have a uniqueness that we share and a sense of loyalty that brings us even closer. We are very blessed.” One of the other advantages Abby highlighted was that they had enough of them to go outside and play most sports with good sized teams, although some琀mes a few neighbor kids would join. She also men琀oned that shopping trips always made her laugh. Her family would have three shopping carts full of food on a weekly basis and her dad would by at least six gallons of milk. There was never a dull moment with this family. Abby went to school at Grace Chris琀an Academy in West Allis from K5-8th grade. Although it was a long drive from Eagle, her parents wanted her and her siblings to have that faith-昀lled founda琀on and educa琀on. From here, Abby went on to Mukwonago High School and was part of the gradua琀ng class of 2016. Next, she went onto college earning her bachelor’s degree in Health Informa琀on Management and Technology from University of Wisconsin-Parkside, gradua琀ng in 2020. All through college, Abby kept busy and worked two jobs. The 昀rst job Abby worked was on-campus working in the oce of the registrars as a student oce assistant where she was able to perform a lot of clerical work, data entry, and talking with students. The other job she has had for nearly four years, is close to her parents’ house at LDs BBQ in East Troy, WI. Abby s琀ll works their when her schedule permits, and loves talking to the customers and serving up good BBQ! A昀er gradua琀ng from college, Abby moved to Green昀eld, WI. Her 昀rst job postschool she worked at a home medical equipment company. Shortly a昀er she started, she realized it wasn’t her passion and found her way to Tudor Oaks where she has been with the Lifestyle department for just over one year.

A few of Abby’s favorite things are pizza, the color Turquoise, the Green Bay Packers, running, dancing and traveling. She traveled with her boyfriend Jarek to Hawaii and Mexico this past year and loved it. This year Las Vegas and Mexico are on the calendar.
