Introduction Dear Ultrakser, Launching a new race in the middle of a pandemic was certainly a risky bet.

But confidence has never left us and your enthusiasm for the race means that today we are just a few days away from the inaugural edition of the VILLARS ULTRAKS, in the heart of the Vaud Alps.

True to the Ultraks tradition, the event offers three courses allowing everyone to find the distance that suits their state of fitness or their desire at the time.

Like any first edition, it will be one of lessons to be learned. For the comfort of the runners, we have limited the number of registrations to 900 people.

We are delighted that you will be with us on Saturday 10th and we wish you a good race!

Main measures and consequences of COVID-19 Despite the improved health situation, we are maintaining a number of measures.

It is everyone's responsibility to maintain the distances and to comply with the now traditional barrier gestures.

Sometimes as a precaution and sometimes because the relaxations were announced too late to be taken into account.

NOTE: The staff will wear masks and gloves, but these are not compulsory for the runners.

We therefore apply the following principles: • • • • •

Prevention Hygiene Low density of people for departures in particular Minimisation of contact points Empowerment and autonomy of athletes

This is reflected in the following measures:

WAVE DEPARTURE In order to ensure that the runners are able to keep to the distances in the start area, we have set up wave starts of about 100 runners at intervals of about 5 minutes.

AID STATIONS The supply of food and drink will be reduced. We therefore strongly encourage you to maximize your autonomy.

As a reminder, it is possible to get a personal supply as long as it is near the official supply point.

AID STATION AT FINISH AND RUNNER’S MEAL As everything has been foreseen under the restrictive measures for the use of the catering areas, we are replacing the arrival refreshments and the meal by the delivery of a "Lunch Bag" consisting of : • • •

a cold Poke Bowl type dish, with a carbohydrate component, 2 raw vegetables and a piece of chicken a fruit a 5dl still water bottle

You will still be able to access the Bretaye 1808 self-service restaurant, but there may be a limit to the number of entries.

Please eat your lunch within the social distances in the Ultraks area or elsewhere at your convenience.

MEDALS As stated in the rules from the beginning, there will be no medal this year.

The protocol of behaviour at the aid station is as follows: • • •

Each runner wishing to use the aid station must first wash his/her hands with a hydro-alcoholic solution (HAS) provided.

The runner indicates his choice to the volunteer who puts it in an individual tray.

At the exit, the trays will be thrown away and another HAS dispenser will be available for the runners.

FINISHER T-SHIRT Your finisher t-shirt will be given to you WITH the lunch bag before you leave the finish area.

However, beyond preventive measures, runners will not be asked to present a vaccination certificate or test.

The size will correspond to the size indicated at the registration. It will be shown on the bib number.

There will be no trying on or exchange.

CHANGING ROOM Again, as the measurements were taken several weeks ago, we will not be able to offer any changing rooms this year.

PRIZE GIVING Prizes will be awarded to the first three men and first three women in each race.

The age group winners will also be rewarded on stage.

The prize board is provided by Compressport and Sports'house - Skis EDL.

OTHER MEASURES Hydro-alcoholic solution (HAS) HAS dispensers are available to runners at all key locations.

Staff Staff will be equipped with masks and gloves where necessary.

Reminders You will be frequently reminded to respect the rules.

Collection of race numbers Number collection is at the Villars Tennis Centre, which is located on the right at the beginning of the Col de la Croix road.

As mentioned above, in order to reduce the number of people collecting bibs at the same time, the times have been extended and separated according to the race.

We urge you to respect the times we have indicated.

BEHAVIOUR AT BIB COLLECTION • • • •

Only runners may queue up and enter the sports centre for the number collection.

Wearing a mask and using a hydro-alcoholic solution are compulsory.

Please respect the distances and the barrier gestures.

Reminder: it is not necessary to present a vaccination certificate or test.

TRAIN SPECIAL RATE Two TPC-identified coupons attached to your race number entitle you to a return train ticket from Villars to Bretaye at the special rate of 12.50 CHF. You can give them freely to your friends and family so that they can come and cheer you on at the finish.

Please note that the ticket can only be bought at Villars station.

FINISHER T-SHIRT As long as the finisher's t-shirt is given to you with the lunch bag in the finish area, this coupon is not necessary.

Start Information PARKING The Rendez-Vous and Roc d'Orsay car parks are at your disposal free of charge.

TRANSPORT OF BAGS For all races we offer, thanks to the support of Garage Alpauto in Villars, a transport of personal belongings to Bretaye.

They are located about 15 minutes walk from the Sports Centre where the number distribution and the race start are located.

The bags must be deposited up to five minutes before the start directly in the vehicle positioned near the start area. Identified SACS.

BEHAVIOUR AT THE START

They will then be transported to Bretaye and placed under the terrace of the Bretaye 1808 Self.

Runners will start in waves of approximately 100 people.

The waves are established on the basis of the times indicated at registration.

The race time will start when the line is crossed.

However, only one rider in the first wave can claim the scratch race.

When a wave is ready to start, the next wave will be prepared in the dedicated area.

The wave is indicated by a letter on the race number (see opposite).

All riders will be asked to wear a mask until about one minute before the start.

When you remove your mask, either put it in your pocket or throw it in one of the many bins that will be set up at the start of the course.

Please do not throw the masks on the ground.

TOILETS Temporary toilets are installed in the immediate vicinity of the starting line, along the tennis courts.

Equipment RECOMMENDED EQUIPMENT At the Villars Ultraks, we believe in empowering the athletes and therefore there is no mandatory equipment, but recommended equipment.

The weather conditions have a great influence on the equipment.

We therefore recommend that you take note of the weather forecast and equip yourself accordingly.

We recommend that you : Long-sleeved waterproof jacket in the right size • • • •

- Survival blanket - Mobile phone with registered emergency number - A strap for a sprained ankle.

We remind you that the Villars Ultraks is a semi-autonomous race and it is therefore your responsibility to have enough food and drink to get from one aid station to another.

POLES Poles are allowed on all courses but must be carried from the beginning to the end of the race.

RUNNER’S SPACE Once you have collected your lunch bag, you can spread out over the Bretaye area.
