9:36 What extracurricular activities do you participate in? At school, I am VP of Student Council and I participate in FBLA, TMS-M Debate team, and in the school musical for the last two years. Outside of school, I perform in theater; i have performed in a variety of shows in Tuscaloosa. My first show was “A Christmas Carol” at Theatre Tuscaloosa. Executive Director, Tina Turley, really helped me find my voice, and then Alisha Jones and Joey Lay helped me really love the stage in “Hairspray.” After that, I was in “Seussical,” and Baby Kangaroo, and “Ragtime,” as Baby Coalhouse. Finally, my FAVORITE extra curricular activity is doing the thing I love the ABSOLUTE most: dancing at 3D Dance Studio!!!! Dance is life!!!! I am a CORE Company Dancer at 3D and I love ALL that the studio stands for. We attend great conventions and competitions. The studio provides great opportunities to dance on many different levels and Tessa exposes us to many master creatives! We have master classes with amazing guest artists, and an apprentice program that helps us create relationships with the “littles!” It’s the best of the best. Anyone who is looking for a studio should come check it out!
What are your plans after high school? After graduation, I plan to attend college, majoring in business, with a minor in dance. I also plan to do commercial dance abroad, and eventually own and run a dance studio much like the one I am a part of now. 3D is my happy place, and it has helped to shape me into who I am and who I want to be. Dancing is one of the greatest forms of self-expression, and I want own and run a space just like it for other kids to grow and be inspired. Who or what inspires you to be who you are? I am most inspired by my mom, Crystal Lassiter, and my dance studio owner, Ms. Tessa Zimomra Russell. They are both very driven individuals who encourage me -and everyone else they come in contact with- to be the best version of myself in every way. I am also inspired by Kendra Lynn Alexander, a master dancer/ choreographer and great role model for aspiring professional dancers like myself. Unlike most people my age, I am even inspired by peers, just above my age group, who are doing well in college, chasing their dreams, and living drama free lives.
😂
Please include anything else you want us to know. I am very grateful for my family’s support of me. They are my biggest cheerleaders and I know that without them and God, I would never have the chance I have to pursue my dreams or to be who I am and want to be. And……I am currently looking for more acting opportunities. I want to be a part of an agency that send me to act in shows like “Percy Jackson and the Olympians.”
