It is our pleasure to welcome you to our 10th Annual Yearling Bull Sale here at Choice Angus. Firstly, we hope the season ahead brings improved conditions and much needed rainfall for producers across the country. While the past year has certainly presented its challenges, the resilience, adaptability, and dedication shown by those in our industry continue to drive Australian agriculture forward.
This year’s weather has certainly tested us all. After missing the summer storms, we entered an exceptionally dry start to autumn, which required us to wean early and commence hand feeding all livestock. These challenges reinforce the importance of breeding cattle that are functional, adaptable, and able to perform in a range of environments. Despite these challenges, we remain optimistic. With record yardings across the New England and north-west regions, we believe cattle prices will continue to remain strong.
In line with this optimistic outlook, we are excited to offer 62 true yearling bulls in this year’s lineup. Our breeding objectives remain focused on balance, temperament, and functionality, always keeping the bigger picture in mind. We aim to produce cattle that not only perform on paper but also have the ability to endure and thrive in commercial environments. As a commercial operation, we treat every female as a commercial cow, rigorously testing them to ensure they perform under the extreme conditions that Mother Nature can throw at us.
Purchasing yearling bulls provides several advantages. Entering the breeding herd at a younger age allows producers to introduce the latest and most advanced genetics into their herd a full year earlier. Their lighter weight also provides an important welfare advantage, reducing the risk of mating injuries in young heifers and supporting greater long term herd productivity.
Knowla So Right S48 - There are 10 bulls in this year’s sale by this outstanding sire, who was the $190,000 top-priced bull at the 2022 Knowla Sale. So Right brings softness and capacity, with his daughters proving to be outstanding young matrons. He has established himself as one of the leading industry sires.
Millah Murrah Nectar N334- There are 9 bulls by Nectar in this year’s sale. Nectar is a sire we continually return to for his ability to produce soft, stylish bulls with exceptional skin type. Nectar also carries one of the most impressive pedigrees in the breed, supported by the strong performance of his relatives.
Circle 8 T119 - There will be 11 bulls by this sire offered this year. We purchased this Circle 8 T119 bull in 2023. T119 is a Paratrooper out of Rosebud M142, a donor cow from the Circle 8 herd. He is a long, thick, deep bodied bull with excellent muscle expression.
Poss Rawhide - There will be 6 bulls by this sire offered in this year’s sale. Rawhide has had a significant influence within the Texas Angus herd. He breeds thick set, easy doing bulls.
Other sires represented in this year’s sale include Moogenilla Quinella Q33, Alpine Real Deal R163, and Ben Nevis Tribune T302.
Our inspection day will be held on Wednesday 26th August from 10am to 4pm at the picturesque “Coolowie” property in the Horton Valley.
We encourage you to join us and inspect the sale bulls in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, with refreshments provided. Tim, David Simpson - Elders Bathurst, Richard Gleeson, and Justin OakenfullElders Inverell will be present to answer any questions you may have.
On behalf of the Choice Angus team, we thank you for supporting our 2026 sale.
We wish you all the very best for the remainder of 2026.
Kind Regards,
Tim Brazier and the Choice Angus Team

Nature intended bulls to work at 12 - 14 months of age as this is when they become sexually mature and are still light and agile enough to learn their new trade without a high risk of injuring themselves.
Bulls who are first put out as two year olds are at higher risk of injury as they are heavier when they are learning the trade.

Yearling bulls are much easier to manage both in and out of the cows as they are out working when their testosterone kicks in and not in a mob of other bulls learning to fight and bully out of sexual frustration.
Just because he is a yearling bull does not make him a heifer bull. As with any bull, his effect on calving ease is determined by genetics for birthweight and shape. However, suitable heifer bulls used as yearlings will mean less injuries in heifers as well. Due to their lighter weight they can be used over heifers for more years as you will have them for longer before they reach their mature weight.
· Don’t put yearling bulls out with older and bigger bulls in their first year as the bigger bulls will injure the yearling bulls while they are serving.
· Only join to a maximum of 35 females in the first year.
· Only join for a maximum of 6 weeks in the first year.
· Ensure the bulls are up to date with parasite control and vaccinations.
