Expired Medication Drop Off Do you have expired medications that you need to dispose of?

The City of Lancaster has implemented a secure drop off program for expired medications. You can drop off your expired medications Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. at the Public Safety Building, 100 Craig Shaw Memorial Parkway.

Simply place your orange bags provided by Simple Recycling beside your recycling bin before 7:30 AM and they will take care of the rest, leaving behind replacement bags for your continued convenience. Reduce the Risk of West Nile Virus As mosquito season is upon us, residents are strongly encouraged to take protective measures by utilizing the ‘4Ds’ to reduce the risk of West Nile Virus: DEET All Day, Every Day: Whenever you’re outside, use insect repellants that contain DEET, picaridin or oil of lemon eucalyptus.

DRESS: Wear long, loose and light-colored clothing outside.

DRAIN: Remove all areas of standing water in and around your home.

Dogs must be held by a leash at all times in a park or public playground, except in park areas designated and posted by the City of Lancaster to be "dog friendly areas", such as the Dog Park at City Park across the Golf course.

Transportation Code Sec. 545.303 The Texas State Transportation Code States: (a) An operator who stops or parks on a twoway roadway shall do so with the right-hand wheels of the vehicle parallel to and within 18 inches of the right-hand curb or edge of the roadway. (b) An operator who stops or parks on a oneway roadway shall stop or park the vehicle parallel to the curb or edge of the roadway in the direction of authorized traffic movement with the right-hand wheels within 18 inches of the right-hand curb or edge of the roadway or left-hand wheels within 28 inches of the lefthand curb or edge of the roadway. This subsection does not apply where a local ordinance otherwise regulates topping or parking on the one-way roadway.

The City of Lancaster ordinance (Sec. 22.06.004) prohibits leaving or parking a motor vehicle, boat or other impediment on any public street or alley between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. within ten (10) feet of a mailbox, except a United States Postal Service vehicle, and except on Sundays and federal holidays.

The LEEP program will primarily perform duties in the field identifying code violations for code officers to perform further investigation.

Essential duties and responsibilities: Patrol assigned areas to identify code violations such as: Excessive accumulation of trash and debris; parking of vehicles, boats, trailers on unimproved surfaces; high grass and overgrown weeds/vegetation; junk vehicles; illegal dumping and litter; and illegal placement of signs.

About the Academy Have you ever wondered how potholes are repaired or how the fire department is able to respond so quickly to emergencies?

How does the City of Lancaster prepare its budget or decide where a park should be located?

Citizens are welcome to learn the answers to these questions and more during our annual Civic Leadership Academy.

Eligibility • Not running or currently serving in a political office • Must be willing to commit to attendance of sessions • Must be a Lancaster resident, City employee, school district employee or employed in the city.
