Find the Person You’ve Always Been

Plainfield, New Hampshire

Welcome to Mountain Valley Treatment Center We recognize that sending a child to residential treatment is difficult for all members of a family, so we take our responsibility to help seriously – and view it as a privilege. At Mountain Valley, residents suffering from severe anxiety, OCD, and depression learn to take healthy risks within the context of a holistic, experiential, and clinically sophisticated therapeutic milieu. Our residents are challenged to face fears and learn new coping skills to overcome those fears. This brochure serves to give you simply a glimpse of the Mountain Valley experience. Should you need more information, we hope that you will explore our website or, better yet, contact us and schedule a visit. We are honored that you are considering Mountain Valley. Sincerely,

Carl J. Lovejoy Executive Director & Co-founder

Campus & Location The Perfect Complement To Our Program Our magnificent property in beautiful Plainfield, NH perfectly complements our approach to treatment. The grounds of the campus—featuring 25 acres of pastures, trails, and recreational space—are a compelling and proven alternative to the often intimidating institutional setting of a psychiatric hospital or large residential treatment center.

Rural, Yet Accessible Campus Our campus is far from inaccessible. During their time at Mountain Valley, residents can take advantage of their surroundings while still finding sanctuary on campus. We are less than a 20 minute drive to Hanover, NH, a quintessential college town that offers purposeful and enjoyable opportunities for exposure practice, family visits, and other programming. Our campus is also a gateway to miles of hiking trails and the Connecticut River, as well as the fields, gardens, and barns of our farming neighbors. We allow residents to feel connected with their surroundings

while cultivating a close-knit community, from which our residents and their parents benefit. In short, our unique setting strikes the perfect balance.

Our Campus

Our facilities are as unique as our programming model. A former inn, events center, and farm-to-table French restaurant, the property has a rich history. The Gallup

House, circa 1818, is a historic Federal style mansion where our administration, dining, academics, and activity spaces, and one of our two dormitories are housed. The Carriage House offers group therapy space and our second dormitory. The Clinical Center, a renovated private residence for the former inn’s chef, contains nursing, admissions, meeting/training space, and therapist offices.

Life at MVTC Mountain Valley’s daily routine is purposeful, structured, and safe. Technology is limited. Meals bring together staff and residents to emphasize social interaction. Employing organic and sustainable practices, residents participate in the year-round cultivation of the foods we grow and consume. Weekends at Mountain Valley include off-campus excursions that combine adventure, culture, and fun. This is a time where residential life is more laid-back.” Participation in seasonal activities such as skiing and snowboarding and caving and canoeing, as well as trips to local art and historic areas, offer opportunities for learning and challenge.
