Corpse Bride

Corpse Bride by Nina Stark, age 12

It was the happiest day of Jhon and Sussana’s lives. The moment Sussana never thought would come. Her wedding day. Everyone was having fun, playing party games and all. While Sussana was cutting the cake, one of the kids who was her best friend’s son ran into her while playing a game of tag. The bride ended up falling into her floral white cake while the young boy ran away in fear. Sussana stood up straight, processing what had just happened while her husband hurried over to her with a dozen napkins in his hand. After she contained herself, Sussana climbed up into the attic to find another cake topper since the other one broke because of the accident. Once she fully pulled herself up, she closed the door. She could barely see due to the attic not having any light, but the daylight from the little window was enough to see her surroundings. Once she found what she needed, she went back to the door, but the lock wouldn’t budge. Sussana didn’t know what to do. She pounded on the door. She shouted and screamed, but nothing came in return. Sussana sat, her mind blank. Meanwhile, all the guests including Sussana’s husband started to wonder where she had gone. Soon, everyone was worried. Sussana had been gone for an hour now. After a while, a search party started. No one ended up finding Sussana, and she starved to death in the attic. Years later, a family moved into Sussana and Jhon’s house. The young girl went to put boxes in the attic. She unlocked the latch and lifted it open. She looked inside and emitted a shrill scream, dropping the boxes in her hands. All that was in the attic was a corpse wearing a dress and a veil.
