Who is your hero?

Have you ever been asked this question?

I’ve found that the answer varies. It can be your mom, your dad, your brother, sister, aunty, uncle, cousin. It can be someone in your community like the cashier at the corner store who always remembers your name, or that one teacher who makes class feel special everyday. It can be the heroes we see in books and on TV, like Miles Morales as Spiderman or Kamala Khan as Ms. Marvel, using superhuman powers to save the world. It can even be yourself, for all the love and care you give in spite of all the doubt and fear.

This semester we asked the Write On! After School students to think of a hero story. It could be about the secret life of a hero, with or without superhuman powers; about a fictional or real unsung hero, someone not traditionally thought of in that way; or about themselves and their unique superpower.

I shared with my students that my unique superpower was being an older sister, something so mundane and incredibly complicated. From a young age, I learned to balance responsibility, be a role model, and care for my siblings. All were a part of my hero journey.

Students saw heroes in everyone and everywhere. Kimberly saw a hero in her brother, who never stops making her feel seen. Angie wrote about a janitor, Meyly about forest animals, Henry about a bunny. Santiago used his story to highlight the Pacific Palisades and Altadena fires and how he saw firefighters as heroes.

In a time when villains seem to feel unbeatable, using their power to destroy, these student authors remind us that being a hero never goes out of style. Even on cloudy days, heroes make the sun shine through. And they’re not often fiction, but even when they are, the kindness, community, and care that comes with their powers is just as real.

Laila’s Super Power

Adrienne

Laila is eight years old. She went to school and was learning, and then she said, “Who sounds like an owl?”

The teacher said, “Who?”

“You,” Laila said. Everybody laughed.

Her motivation was when she saw her best friend, Iri, was sad, Laila wanted to make a joke.

Laila met Iri when they were at the park. She was playing in the sand. Laila was also playing in the sand. Iri said to Laila, “Do you want to make a sandcastle together?”

Laila said, “Yes,” so they made a sand castle together. Laila said to Iri, “Do you want to be my friend?”

Iri found out that Laila went to her school. They saw each other. Laila asked if Iri wanted to play tag. Iri said, “Yes.”

Then they walked to class together. They became best friends and did everything together.

One day, when Laila was in the restroom, two girls were laughing at Iri because she had dirty shoes. One girl’s name was Jaymely, and the other girl was Esme. Jaymely said, “Your shoes are so dirty. Why don’t you get new ones?”

Esme said, “I agree, her shoes look super dirty.”

Iri said to Jaymely and Esme, “Because my mom needs to save money for food.” Then Jaymely and Esme ran to the classroom and told everyone about Iri’s shoes.

Laila saw Iri crying and felt sad. Then the whole class started laughing and making fun of Iri. She ran out of the class because she was embarrassed.

Laila followed Iri to hug her and to tell her, “It’s going to be okay.” Laila now felt angry because the students were treating her badly. Laila stormed back into the classroom and hypnotized everyone to make them smile every time Iri talked.

Laila told Iri, “Come back.” Then Laila made a joke. Iri started laughing at Laila’s joke. After Laila helped Iri feel better, she went to the class full of students that had made fun of Iri.

Iri came and said, “What happened?” Then everyone started smiling. Laila told the class it’s okay to laugh at a joke but not at people. The class felt bad. The classroom apologized to Iri, and she forgave them. They all laughed together and played together on the playground. Iri and Laila worked together to help other people who were also bullied and make sure more people were happy.

Adrienne is a student and is in second grade. Adrienne likes to draw and paint. Adrienne’s favorite color is purple. Adrienne is eight years old.

The Radioactive Food

There were two friends. The first one’s name was Bob, the second friend’s name was Michael. Bob was wearing a blue shirt with pants and Michael was wearing a white shirt with green pants.

Bob said, “I’m hungry!”

Michael said, “Let’s go to YumYum Burger.”

Bob said, “YumYum Burger sucks!”

“Ehh, let’s just go.”

When they got there, they got the same thing, which was fries and a cheeseburger. Once they got their food, it was glowing green.

Bob said, “Is this a new food item?”

After they ate their food, they figured out it was radioactive!

Bob said, “Bro, this was your idea.”

Michael said, “I didn’t know this was going to happen!”

After, they started choking on the food. Then the radioactivity started kicking in, and they both stopped choking. They got super powers! They both said, “Wow, I feel amazing.”

Bob got the ability to fly and so did Michael, because they had eaten the same food. They decided to become superheroes!

They flew to a city and somehow they found a dinosaur. Both said, “Is this Jurassic Park?”

Michael said, “Probably!”

The dinosaur ate another dinosaur that was radioactive, and became a radioactive dinosaur! They saw the radioactive dinosaur. Michael said, “Let’s just go back to YumYum Burger. We’re not prepared for this.” They got mozzarella sticks and they got super strength (as we know, YumYum Burger food is radioactive). Bob and Michael went back to fight the dinosaur. They got there and both said, “Let’s do this!”

A huge fight broke out in the city. They both charged straight at the radioactive dinosaur. Sheep got eaten by the radioactive dinosaur. The radioactive dinosaur almost swallowed them whole. They dodged quickly. They lunged at him again and the radioactive dinosaur felt the attack. Then the radioactive dinosaur fell on the floor and was defeated.

Alan is eight years old and has an older brother. Alan loves Chick-fil-A. He goes to school and he is in third grade.

The Third Giant War

Ali Montano

There once was a boy who had the ability to control people and things, but at times, he could not control this ability. There was a time where he almost sent a person off a cliff and another time he almost destroyed the Statute of Liberty.

The boy’s name was Nico, and he had messy light-brown hair and cobaltblue eyes. The person who almost got sent off a cliff was named Mateo. Nico was seven when he almost sent Mateo off a cliff.

Nico was playing out on his lawn, when Mateo (who was thirteen at the time) came and pushed Nico to the ground. At this, Nico got really mad. Mateo started to levitate and he got sent flying at 9 mph. At the same time, Nico was causing bigger and bigger earthquakes. It wasn’t until he felt his own earthquakes that he stopped. Since then, he’s tried to stay as calm as possible.

Nico’s mother had left him and his dad had never told him anything about her. He also kept seeing mythical creatures. They all seemed to scream, “I’m from Greek mythology!”

He kept on telling his dad, but his dad dismissed it, until the day when he said he saw a Mrumpkeas. Always, his Dad had dismissed it, but it sounded like he was hiding something. Nico asked his dad what he was hiding. His dad said nothing at all. So Nico decided to find out more.

He went to his treehouse. He found out that only demigods and godsends could see Mrumpkeas. He also found out that there were a very few children of Herate, the goddess of magic, who could use telekinesis. Nico, now knowing this, started to practice trying to control his magic. When his dad called him, he did one more practice flying. He tried about two more times but his dad called him. He came back happier.

His dinner was mashed potatoes and fish. While they were eating, a massive thud shook the table. They both went outside and saw Krios, the giant. Nico ran inside and then remembered some piece of information. Suddenly he remembered what his dad told him: never go and open the old box in the attic. He rushed to the attic and opened the box.

Inside he found a sword. He noticed the sword was made from celestial bronze. He rushed outside and faced the giant. Then suddenly, he was transported to a giant colosseum. He charged straight at Krios. As he

was running he noticed a button on the sword. He clicked it. It started to reform itself and became a spear.

He threw the spear and focused on multiplying it. All of them landed on Krios. Krios fell in pain, saying, “My brothers will come for you,” then turned into dust.

The arena disappeared and his house started to come back into view. Nico saw his dad sitting on the grass, unconscious. His dad started to move, then got up. When he got up he said, “My son is ready. Zeus, you can retrieve him now.”

Nico was shocked. All of a sudden thunder appeared in front of them, but instead of catching fire a person appeared, or maybe a god. Nico was even more shocked when the person started talking to him. Then the person left. Nico got teleported to a land and realized that there was going to be another giant war and he was part of it.

He had his sword and he turned it into a spear. There was a rumble and the first gods and giants appeared. Nico threw his spear and multiplied it. He generated more spears and jumped to escape an explosion. But he didn’t touch the ground. He realized he was flying!

He created even more spears. Soon the giants were overpowered. Zeus made an eternal prison for them, and trapped the giants in it. Nico then got a choice. He could become a god or have eternal fame or even go to Olympus when he died. He chose to have eternal fame.

He was transported back home and he went to his house. When he entered the kitchen, he saw a plate of food. He sat down and his dad came in. They ate, and then it was night. They went to sleep.

Ali likes to read. He is eleven years old and is in the fifth grade. He is from Los Angeles, California. He loves turtles, Pokemon, and crystals such as aquamarine, tiger’s eye, and augite. His favorite Pokemon is Ceruledge. His pet turtle is named Lily.

If Dave Was a Hero

Ailyn S.

There was once a little owl named Dave who was friendly, sleepy, cuddly, and calm. He looked like a normal student and wore his school uniform. He was an unsung hero who wasn’t noticed by others. Nobody at school knew he could sing, and they thought he was the quiet kid at school.

Then, a few weeks later, a new kid came, and his name was Robbin. He was a really shy and quiet kid, too. He was also really nerdy. He liked to have more homework to bring from school every time. But he didn’t really know the way around the school much, so he mostly made messes in class.

After a few weeks of making a mess in the class, students called him the clumsy kid. One day, Dave noticed the class bullying Robbin, but Dave felt bad for Robbin. So he sang one of the famous singer’s songs that the class loved the most.

Dave said, “When I put on my costume, I feel brave.” So the class stopped bullying Robbin because whenever they tried, David sang the famous singer’s song.

Dave said “The student, Robbin, needed a hero because he always gets bullied at school.”

On February 4, 2026, Robbin was the first to thank Dave out of all the others, but this time Robbin didn’t forget!

Dave said, “Just as I thought I remembered on February 4, 2026 Robbin thanked me! And that having more friends, makes people more brave.”

A few weeks later, Dave decided to help encourage others to help people in need. So, he wrote a song about being brave and courageous. Anyone that heard the song became really brave!

Ailyn is a nine-year-old. Ailyn lives in LA and likes Sticki Rolls. Ailyn has an older brother named Diego who has talked back 57 times to her mom! Ailyn also likes ice cream and has eaten four of them in a day.

Jenny’s Powers

One day, Chloe got a bad grade. She was sad, so she and Jenny went to music class, and they started snapping along to a song. As soon as Jenny snapped her fingers, she felt like something had changed, but she ignored it. Then, when music class ended, her friend saw her bad grade, and she was surprised her bad grade turned into a good grade. Since Jenny was in college, she also helped her friend, since college tests were hard. She even started helping her family.

The next day, Jenny saw her younger brother’s car was on fire. She remembered her power, so she just snapped her fingers, and it turned back to normal. Then she realized that she was late for school, so she used her brother’s car to go to school. When she got there, she saw that her bully was bullying Chloe, so they went to the park to talk. They were talking about Jenny’s superpower and how she got it. Jenny said that her uncle said that she would get powers because in the future something bad would happen. Later, she went back home and she asked her uncle how she got her powers. Her uncle said that he made a magic spell on her because her uncle knew that in five months she would need it.

Jenny then saw Chloe knocking on the door, and outside, there were a lot of bees attacking people. Jenny told Chloe what was happening. Then Chole said that the bees were turning people into bees if the bees stung them. So Jenny and Chloe stayed inside. When they saw Jenny’s brother banging on the window, they were scared, because what if a bee came inside? They left Jenny’s brother outside, and he turned into a bee. This left Jenny sad that her brother turned into a bee. Jenny wanted to go outside, but then Chloe stopped her because Chloe did not want to be alone. They thought about how to go outside without getting caught by the bees. Since Jenny had forgotten her power neither of them had any ideas to escape. When ten minutes passed, Jenny remembered her power and snapped her fingers. All of the bees disappeared, but her brother was still a bee. Jenny was confused, but she left her brother as a bee.

The Strange Cheese

There was a rat named Gorge. He loved cheese. One day, he was walking on the sidewalk. It was a hot day.

While he was walking, he saw something across the road. It was hard to see at first. He realized that it was a big piece of cheese. He crossed the road quickly and approached the cheese carefully.

He said, “I am not sure if I can eat this because it was on the street.”

A minute later, he said, “I’m going to eat this anyway because I’m hungry.”

So, he bit into the cheese. Actually, it was clean, fresh, and delicious. He felt something different while eating it. The cheese spilled on him as he ate very quickly.

A moment later, his stomach started to hurt. He realized it was not a regular cheese. He looked at himself in the mirror, he was a genie! He had the power to make unlimited wishes. So, he wished for a lot of cheese, and one-hundred thousand pieces appeared right in front of him. He put all of them in a secret room. He thought he was going to eat them alone, but there was a cat coming. The cat smelled the cheese and went to the secret room. He got scared, so he backed up. There was a hole behind him, and he fell into it. He was stuck in the sewage. He tried to get out, but he couldn’t think of anything because his mind and stomach were full of cheese.

SUPER GRANDMA PEBA

Amaia Marcial

One day, I was eating chocolate and pan dulce. My grandma made it for me. When my parents went down to the kitchen, they saw me eating sugar.

My parents got mad and transformed into monsters. The monsters were big, furry, and dark green, but they were still my parents. The monsters’ superpowers were being SUPER strong and they had very very sharp teeth. My grandma, Peda, did a spin and she transformed into a superhero! She had superpowers, which were flying and protection.

The monsters and Super Grandma Peda fought all the way to New York. They flew there. The monsters put all my candy in the Statue of Liberty to hide all the sugar from me.

My grandpa and I were staying in Mexico. He held me and protected me. All the candy fell toward the river. But my grandma was strong, so she didn’t let the candy fall in the river. Then the monsters got the candy and threw it in the sky. My grandma tried to get the candy, but couldn’t get all the candy.

When my grandma caught some of the candy, my grandma transformed the candy to be bigger and it came to life! The candy was fighting the monsters that were my mom and dad.

The monsters ate the candy. Then the monsters ran to another city, Dallas, Texas. My grandma flew behind the monsters. Finally, they all got to Dallas. The monsters attacked the people in the city. The mom monster turned invisible. She hid from my superhero grandma, but my grandma could see the mom monster with her invisibility power.

When the monsters ran away, Super Grandma Peda tried to get them with her superpowers. A rainbow came out and the monsters jumped high to go into the rainbow. Super Grandma Peda flew into the rainbow to get the monsters. The monsters flew away from Super Grandma Peda because she also had the power of bubbles.

The bubbles trapped people inside. Super Grandma Peda tried to catch the monsters in a bubble, but she couldn’t. The monsters then tried to escape by trying to break the rainbow, but they couldn’t. So the monsters tried to catch the Super Grandma Peda, but she was too fast since she could fly. Super Grandma Peda also had the power to create chanclas with her hands, so she started throwing chanclas at the monsters!

The monsters got so distracted that Super Grandma Peda was able to catch the monsters. However, Super Grandma Peda wasn’t expecting that the monsters would be able to explode the bubbles, so she was surprised when she saw the monsters escape to Mexico.

The monsters went inside a house and challenged Super Grandma Peda to a dance battle. Super Grandma Peda spun through the air. The monsters fell and they were sad.

Super Grandma Peda used her powers and made the houses surround the monsters.

The monsters and Super Grandma fought again, and the monsters got SO mad they changed color to red. Super Grandma Peda used her powers of speed and bubbles, and the monsters used invisibility and strength. Super Grandma Peda started to run around the monsters making bubbles. With each lap, the bubbles got bigger and bigger. The monsters got too dizzy, and Super Grandma Peda trapped the monsters in the bubbles again.

The monsters broke the bubbles, again, so Super Grandma Peda got a super heavy object, threw it on the monsters, and she saved the day.

Amaia is in third grade. She is eight years old. Her favorite colors are pink and blue. She lives with her mom, dad, and her sister, named Danae. Amaia likes Hello Kitty, My Melody, and Cinnamonroll. Also, Kuromi! Amaia’s school is close to 826LA. Amaia’s favorite books are the Magic Tree House series. Her favorite snack is pan dulce and chocolate. Amaia’s best friend is named Allison.

Light and Dark Heroes

One late night, Kris woke up next to his mom Toriel. She was fast asleep. Susie, Kris’s friend, was asleep too, and the room was dead silent. Kris grabbed his dagger and stabbed it into the ground, opening a huge light brighter than the sun and looking like a reverse waterfall that was white. Soon, the light turned into fog covering the whole house in darkness. Soon the house looked like a church. Kris did this because he felt something was off in the dark world, even something dangerous.

Susie then woke up in the dark world and her clothing style had completely changed! Her bracelet turned into a spike wristband.

“KRIS WAKE UP!” Susie shouted as she began to scan the new area around her. As they kept on walking they soon found another person standing in the distance. It was Ralsei. Susie asked her if they could all go to the fair together if they got out of this area.

“See, Susie, I am a darkner. A darkner is a person who is alive in the dark world, but if I ever transferred to the light world, I would become an object,” Ralsei explained. Susie nodded as she understood that Ralsei would not be able to go with them.

“Hey! There’s a switch up ahead,” Kris stated, looking into the distance. Susie turned around to shine a light on every detail of the church. While walking further, they saw several glowing pieces of glass that told a story of all three of the teens. It stated that three heroes could save the world. A human, a monster, and a lonely prince of the dark.

“Wait, that’s all three of us. Kris, Ralsei, and me!” Susie stated.

Then the gang went on further to find the hidden library mentioned in the prophecy. Ralsei grabbed a book about the best magic spells to stop danger. Though for Susie, she found a candy jar. Susie snatched one and ate it.

“Ew. This tastes like McDonald’s candy!” Susie stated.

“PAUSE! First of all, we cannot mention anything related to McDonald’s, because if we do, this story would already be copyrighted,” interrupted Mike the Microphone.

“WHEN DID YOU GET YOU HERE!?” shouted Ralsei.

“See, I dropped my pickle jar in your dark fountain Kris, so I jumped inside!”

“Bruh,” Ralsei said.

“We could have just got it and thrown it back! Am I right lads or am I right lads?” Kris asked.

“You are right lad… Right lad,” Ralsei and Susie responded.

Soon after, the floor split in half! Everyone screamed as they fell from the height.

“Ow… What a fall!” Kris exclaimed.

The gang walked up to a floating library. The air was filled with darkness and led to a waterfall.

“What is this place?”

A face-like appearance emerged from the fog slowly. It revealed it had feathers on its head.

“H-Hey! Whatever you’re doing you have to stop!” Susie exclaimed. It seemed to force darkness into the light world.

“Stop! If you do that then every human will be trapped in this world, leading to the removal of all humans.”

Susie struck the titan monster. It attacked back with its hand, but the light from Kris’s soul burned it!

“Hey Kris! Maybe with the light of your soul, you can reduce the darkness entering the light world!” Susie shouted.

Kris was determined to get around the titan and distract it. Ralsei tried to make it go to sleep with a magic spell.

“Whoa Ralsei! Where’d you learn that spell?” Susie asked

“I got it from the prophecy books!”

Then the titan stopped focusing on Susie and focused on Ralsei, though it was all part of their plan. Susie shined a bright flashlight at the titan, then the titan flew away in fear, stopping the spread of the darkness. The three heroes were sent back to the light world. Kris and Susie woke up alongside Kris’s night cap, which was Ralsei in the dark world. Susie soon found out that Kris had opened the fountain, but she understood that if he hadn’t they could have died.

Susie grabbed a Fanta from the fridge, and so did Kris.

“Cheers!” Susie said.

Kris drank the soda, Susie drank too.

Alvery and the Two Jellybeans

Calvero W.

Once upon a time, there was a boy named Calvero and he lived in Greenland and he LOVED… adventures! He went everywhere like through the mountains, the ocean, and across lava. But today, things were different… Calvero was walkin’ in grass and one minute later found a cave! So, of course, like any curious boy, he went in.

Meanwhile, inside the cave, Calvero found a… banana! Well, not useful, but a yummy snack. So, anyway, after walking some more, Calvero found a gem in a cage with a countdown timer.

Calvero said, “Is this cage going to explode or what?” But when he looked CLOSER he noticed, “Oh it is! Well, in minutes, yeah. Wait… THREE minutes!”

Yes the countdown had THREE MINUTES!!!!! So, without wasting any time, he looked into a suspicious part of the cave and found a chest, Calvero opened it and he found the key to unlocking the cage for the crystal.

So, Calvero went back to the crystal cage, but it only had 10 seconds left and he was 10 seconds away from the crystal. Calvero took one big jump and in mid-air, he threw the key into the slot. When he landed, he twisted the key and the crystal cage opened. He took the crystal and went out of the cave and went to the snowy biome and sat near a tree, but the gem didn’t glow like any ordinary gem, so he threw it in the air. It stayed there and it glowed in the sky.

Suddenly, he became a superhero! He could fly, move objects with his mind, and he could be invisible. So, he flew around helping people, but he realized that was just developing his powers, so he had more! And now he had the power to make things alive.

Calvero now had a superhero name… Clavery! Meanwhile, the gem exploded, but out came two jelly beans.

Clavery said, “Hi! What is your name?”

The jelly bean said, “We don’t have names.” So, Clavery gave them names 111 Jelly Bean and 222 Jelly Bean.

The jelly beans had powers because they had been in that gem that exploded. They could fly and transform into sour jelly beans. But there was a giant incident. One thousand people fell into the Mariana Trench

because they saw a quarter from the 1900s, but someone convinced them to come and try to get it.

Meanwhile, flying through the air, Clavery realized that the jelly beans weren’t alive. It was just his imagination. Clavery landed on a sidewalk and put the jelly beans right in front of him, and used his power to make things alive and used it on the jelly beans. And now they were alive! 111 Jelly Bean and 222 Jelly Bean! So, Clavery told the jelly beans about the incident. The jelly beans still had their powers, so they were prepared for this mission. They flew into action and flew right next to the net store, but then Clavery had an idea, he said we need a big net to scoop all the people out of the Marianna Trench.

So they went in, but they couldn’t find a big net, so they asked a coworker to ask if they had any big nets. The coworker said they do have big nets so Clavery bought one for 10 dollars.

Clavery said, “That’s cheap!”

So Clavery and the jelly bean flew to the Marianna Trench and scooped them all up and put them on dry land near the beach, and as soon as five minutes passed, a few of them woke up, and one hour later, all of them woke up. That would mean that it was ten o’clock in the morning.

But then, Clavery felt something grow bigger and bigger and bigger then he started to glow then he was brighter than the sun. Then suddenly, all in a millisecond, he turned into Calvero again! He realized he had the power to be a hero, but as soon as he realized the world transformed into a grapefruit (but the size of Mother Earth). Well, that solves that problem for people who liked fruit and now they were eating it!!!

Without wasting any time, Calvero said these magical words, “Boop bitty bop ba doo.” Then Calvero turned into Clavery again. He flew into space and used his mind to move all the planets except the gas planets and the dwarf planets.

He then smashed them and with a little straining out into one big ball our new planet was finished. Out of all these adventures, this one was the greatest adventure of all and everybody cheered for Clavery and the two jelly beans.

The World

Imagine being invisible? Or being able to fly? If you were invisible, you could get into people’s conversations to hear what they were talking about. You could also hear if people were planning bad stuff behind someone’s back. I sometimes tell myself that if I had a superpower, it would change everyone’s life. Well, that is exactly what happened in my life. It was exactly two months ago when I changed a whole community.

Once upon a time, I was at school reading a book under the tree by myself. Everyone had their own tree. What can I say, it was a perfect community where everything was perfect! The government came to our school almost every day to do something “important” in the meeting room. The leader of the government had a daughter, who was the richest girl in the school. She was also very rude to the low-level people, who were called the normal people, who did the same thing as everyone else. It was a Sunday at noon and we were coming out of church. I turned around to see Destiny, the daughter of the government leader. Every Sunday when I came out of church, I saw her and other girls walking though a sketchy alley.

Sometimes I wanted to follow, but I didn’t know what danger I could be putting myself through. Every other person who saw them pretended that they didn’t see them. One time, I asked my mom if she had seen them.

“Hey mom, did you see those girls walking into the alleyway?”

“What are you talking about?” Mom said. Then I saw my mom’s hair had something weird going down it. As we started to walk to the car, I kept thinking about what happened over and over in my head. When we got home, I saw the weird thing again! I wanted answers to this.

For days, I saw this old man every day. I heard my head say, “He has the answers, he has the answers.” I got dizzy each time until I fainted. Once, as I slowly opened my eyes, I saw the old man. I moved as far from him as possible until I touched the wall behind me.

“Don’t worry young lady, I’m not here to scare you,” the old man said.

He handed me a glass of water that was very full. There were bubbles starting from the bottom. “It’s sparkling water with lemon.” It was my favorite drink ever made, well not just mine, but everyone’s in the community. I gave him a stare, then just snapped it out of his hand and chugged it all.

“What do you want from me?”

“Don’t you want to know the answers about your mom’s hair?” I gave a nod.

“Then drink this to know the answers.” The drink was a fluorescent purple, bubbly, and there was a sizzling sound.

“Should I trust you?”

“Do you want to find out then?”

I shrugged my shoulders. “I’m going to risk it all for this.” I opened my mouth to drink it like a waterfall.

It took a long time to reach my mouth. It took even longer to drink it. As I finished the drink my jaw started hurting badly. As I stood up to get a closer look at the old guy, I had no balance, and then my eyes started getting blurry. The only thing I remembered was falling down and getting hit by a pole very hard.

Two hours later…

I opened my eyes slowly; my head hurt so much. I touched my head, and there was a little bit of blood. I was in the middle of the street, lying down. Around me there was a lot of grass and the big bright sun was making my face burn so much. I slowly turned my head to the right. I saw cars coming towards me. My whole jaw dropped. I stood up as fast as I could before the cars hit me. All of my energy was draining down. I could no longer run. I expelled my faith; my life was over. One of the cars came very fast. When the red, fast car hit me, it just went through me. I was shocked.

I sat down on the burning hot ground in the middle of the street thinking about what just happened! An hour passed by and the cars were still going through me. I was thinking to myself, “What was the last thing that happened before I was in the middle of the street?” I stood up from the ground and walked back to my house.

When I finally got home, there was police tape around my house saying “Caution.”

“Oh my gosh, what… happened… ?”

Then out of nowhere a person came close to me, saying, “Their daughter is missing. They do not know where she is! Got to go, I have a mission to attend to.” I didn’t ask any questions.

As I walked slowly into the house, I saw the government in my house. They acted all weird. Then I walked towards them to see what they were talking about. My parents had normal faces and were not worried at all. I wondered if they even loved me.

One of the government officials said, “What do you think? I think she was released.” Then another one said, “I will go check who has been recently released in the community.”

There was something bright, something mysterious, then a word came to my mind. It echoed in my head. The color red was running through my mother’s hair. It was right at that moment that I realized the government was hiding something from us.

Afterwards, I got another memory: There were girls walking into a dark alley. “I know where that alley is!” I said.

I ran to where I was in the middle of the street. It was near the alleyway. All the things I knew before the accident were coming back to me. It was on a Sunday at 7:00 PM and people were coming out of the church. I saw my mother coming from the church. No one was asking her how she was feeling about how I was missing.

Then I said, “NO, they must not know that I’m missing then.”

They did not know what was going on. Well I didn’t know what it was either at the time, but I found out that the community was being controlled by what the government was hiding from them. I saw those girls that were in my memories. They walked into an abandoned building. I ran and followed them into the building. When I walked into the room they were in, I heard a voice coming from another door.

“Okay, we did what you asked for, but what’s this about a hidden society?” Mia asked, who was the leader of the group.

As she moved to the side, there was an old man. Then I knew who that man was. He was the one who made me invisible. Then a sassy voice spoke, “We made the drink to make her invisible. My daddy, aka the leader of the government, told me no one will know we made her invisible.”

They had planned this all out. They wanted me to be gone for good. All of them started agreeing with each other.

“Ladies, ladies, please calm yourselves down. I will tell you.”

Altogether, at the same time, they said, “What is it then?”

He took a big deep breath in. “There is a hidden society within us named Ohio.” I gasped. This could destroy the government for good.

Out of nowhere the old man had tentacles coming out of his old back. With three of his tentacles he grabbed the three girls and pushed them against the wall. I ran out of the building. All that was going through my head was finding a way to become uninvisible.

I remembered the drink the old man gave me before giving me the one that made me invisible. I went to my house to get sparkling water with a bit of lemon. I finished the drink. It was time to see if it worked. I felt something weird going through my body.

Then my mom came back from church. I had to get out of there. I thought I was still invisible but apparently I was no longer invisible! As I went downstairs, my mom was taking off her bag and hanging it on the rack. Then she turned around and saw me coming down the stairs, and she screamed very loudly. She was so loud that the whole block came out of their houses. It was like she had seen a ghost. Which she just had.

I ran for my whole life before all the people saw me. I went through the back door. I had to find a way that I could tell the whole community that there was a hidden society named Ohio within us. Then I remembered that the government was giving a big speech in front of the whole community that day.

I ran to the Pentagon, where they were going to give the speech. I arrived in the middle of the speech. I made it through the guards, which was easy to do. The only thing left was to get onto the stage. I snatched the mic from the government leader and ran in front of the camera.

“Ladies and gentlemen there is a society within us!” To get them to worry more about it, the next thing I said was, “They are trying to hurt us!” The people started screaming and running around. The entire world was in flames. And now I’m the most wanted person in the whole world.

The Three Great Heroes

At home on a sunny day after school, three students—Daniel, Kate, and KreekCraft—had homework, but they were bored doing it.

“I hate homework! I want to play on my 3DS!” Daniel groaned, “Well… writing homework.”

Kate and KreekCraft hadn’t written anything on their papers. Daniel saw on his desk a weird star on a blank paper.

“What’s that?” KreekCraft asked. Kate and Daniel shrugged.

They all touched it. Then the star started to glow. Daniel had a big, magical pencil, a red cape, and red and blue boots. Kate had black stars, a boomerang, a pink and yellow cape, and boots. KreekCraft had a laser gun and a cape.

“I think I can erase stuff!” Daniel said. He erased a book. Then, he drew it again and it became real.

“And I think these are like boomerangs!” Kate said.

“Is this a laser gun?” KreekCraft asked. He zapped Daniel by accident. “Kreek! You zapped me!” Daniel yelled.

“Whoops! My bad. I’ll use the recovery button!” KreekCraft replied.

He pressed the recovery button to make Daniel normal. The button made it so if something was destroyed accidentally, KreekCraft could recover it again.

A cat walked in with white and black fur. KreekCraft saw a “cat mode” button. He pressed it. The cat started playing with the laser.

“I think we can save the world now! LET’S GO!” Kate said.

“WAIT! We need to watch the news first,” Daniel replied.

Meanwhile, ninjas were taking over a city called Sanville, which had a lot of tall buildings. This girl, Dalilah, was taken by the red ninjas. She was shouting for help, but no one heard her because people were screaming from the black Ninjas destroying the city.

After a while, Daniel, Kate, and KreekCraft walked outside and saw a big, BIG fire and ninjas destroying the world. Daniel was shocked. Kate and KreekCraft started running to save Sanville.

“Guys wait! Weeell… y-yeah, this is the time to save the world!” Daniel told himself smartly.

KreekCraft ran to the ninjas and shouted, “Get away you ninjas!” He used his laser gun to zap the ninjas.

Kate ran up to four ninjas. “Shooting boomerstars, GO!” She shouted. She defeated those ninjas.

They fought the ninjas while Daniel looked around. Suddenly, he saw up in the sky a flying ninja helicopter with Dalilah inside.

“Gasp! I need to save her!” Daniel said in shock. He climbed up some windows of a tall building. He gulped about the heights, but he was determined to save Dalilah. His cape started glowing red, bright and shining. Then, he flew.

After a few minutes, he broke into the ninja’s hideout. He used his pencil to poke the red ninjas, and defeated them. He ran inside a door and shouted, “Give back Dalilah right now!”

“Well, well, well… we meet again,” Dorothy said. She was the main villain, the boss of all ninja land.

Dalilah was tied up. Then Dorothy used a superpower, Meteor Rain. Daniel almost struggled to dodge all the meteors. Then he saw the star from earlier on his cape. Daniel was now glowing rainbow colors. He was unstoppable. He couldn’t collide with the meteors.

“WHAT!?” Dorothy said. Then Daniel held Dorothy up. “I’M SORRY! I’LL NEVER HURT YOUR CITY AGAIN!!!” Dorothy cried.

“Too late… I’m letting Dalilah go,” Daniel said. He picked up his pencil and erased Dorothy.

“NOOOOO!!!” Those were her last words.

Then Daniel ran back to Dalilah and untied her.

“Thanks for saving me!” Dalilah said happily. Daniel smiled back.

One hour later, all of the people came to the heroes. “We saved Dalilah, and defeated the ninjas!” Daniel shouted. The audience cheered for

KreekCraft, Kate, and Daniel. After that, Dalilah hugged Daniel. They all lived happily ever after.

Daniel is still ten years old, and he is a big fan of LAFC aka Los Angeles Football Club. He also has new friends, but still has his old friends Liam, Jassiel, Rodrigo, and Osvaldo. He has lots of new friends, including Cora, Mateo, Santiago, Micah, Kai, Lucas, London, and Dalilah. The truth is Daniel’s crush is Dalilah. SPOILER ALERT!!! He plays soccer too, and is making a comeback to Nintendo, featuring Mario.

GRANDMA

My grandma brings me and my brothers fruit and candy every time she comes to my house. She has been taking care of me since I was born. If you are wondering, her name is Emma. Some of my favorite memories with her are from when I used to live in an apartment near where she lived. She would visit every day.

I also love my mom because she takes me to school and helps me when I’m sick. She also makes the best food.

One day, while driving back home from the mall, my mom found an alien ship that had crash-landed in front of her car. She got out and saw a tall figure with long ears, and she went up to it.

Then the figure challenged her to make coffee faster and better than one of them. However, she wasn’t able to improve upon the aliens’ abilities, so they took her and imprisoned her on Mars.

A day after that happened, my grandma got a call from one of the aliens. They told her that they had taken my mom to Mars. When my grandma heard that, she went to NASA, found a spaceship, and flew it to Mars. When she arrived on Mars, she found one of the aliens. The alien challenged my grandma to make a better cup of coffee than them. If she won, she would be able to save my mom.

She was able to make coffee better than the alien, so she saved my mom.

Diego is a ten-year-old boy who likes playing basketball. He also likes to play Roblox RIVALS. His favorite rapper is Tyler, the Creator.

The Most Annoying Thing in the History of Robots

Once there were two friends named Jake and Bryan. They lived across from each other with other friends (but they are less important in the story). Bryan and Jake were pranksters and sometimes got teachers mad.

One night, Bryan tripped on something, it was a sea urchin. It hurt, but to not make matters that bad (I guess), he kicked it away, somewhere, and he didn’t see where it went. After a month, Los Angeles became something like Atlantis, everyone lived on a hill. It was as if we were in San Francisco (there’s a bunch of hills there).

Jake had no idea where Bryan was. Then at night, Jake was sleeping, and a robot stared at him like how a cat would stare at its toy. Then it made a big mechanical noise. It threw something, but it missed Jake. When Jake threw the hunk of junk out of the window, the robot threw a can and began annoying him. Jake got so mad that he used his secret weapons, his two cats. The cats also got mad when the robot sprayed Jake with water and started biting the robot. I guess that the robot got tired of the two cats shredding on its mechanical face, so it teleported.

So after that, Jake went to a gift shop in Lake Tahoe and went to a gift shop in Big Bear and Lake Mammoth to get a super giant water gun and a snowball launcher. At the same time, he bought a new skateboard. He was doing 360s on the way when he saw something.

He looked, and it was Bryan.

“Where have you been?!” Jake exclaimed.

“Here in Lake Tahoe,” he said.

So after that, he asked if he wanted to join him and the cats. After a trip to the hotel, they had to make a plan on how to capture the robot. They made a path to somewhere unknown and went to Mount Everest because the robot could teleport and could be anywhere. They wanted to find something similar to the robot to defeat it, which was tricky because no one knew what that thing was. They got a whole gallon of something that they didn’t even use. They went to a robot shop, but Jake only had 50 bucks in his pocket, so it was a waste of time. They just wanted to destroy the robot.

The cat saw a robot and jumped at it like Foxy jumps at you in Five Night’s At Freddy’s. That was not enough because that made one damage and the cat decided it couldn’t really do anything, so it just ran. So they just stood there when another person came and said that he could join. Since nobody really cared and they just wanted to get it over with, they agreed. That happened again and again, and they had to get it over with. One guy who joined them wore a wizard suit and he looked like he was fifteen years old. Then another guy came, and he looked like something from the game Geometry Dash. Then a soldier came. And finally, a guy in a suit that looked like a billionaire joined.

It was six versus one. The robot flung the suit man over the Milky Way then he fell and got dizzy. Then the soldier and the wizard ordered a pizza from Domino’s (for some reason) and gave it to the Geometry Guy. Then the Geometry Guy ate a hot pepperoni pizza and landed a hit with the icicle at the robot (because the robot slashed him one hundred times in 10 seconds) and the geometry guy got in a battle with the robot for 10 days and they knocked themselves out. The group of six got one million bucks because the robot was on a wanted list.

Diego is a nine-year-old who was born in Santa Monica and raised in Los Angeles. He is Mexican-American and has a passion for soccer and basketball. He owns a cat named Panterita. He is ready for the 2026 World Cup and he has no friends called Jake or Bryan, nor does he know anyone with that name (except one of his sister’s classmates). He thinks Ronaldo is the G.O.A.T. player at soccer.

Pele’s Skills

Pele was a soccer player with superpowers. He was 30 years old and was 7 feet tall. I admired Pele’s skills. Pele could juggle a soccer ball for a whole hour. I liked playing soccer with Pele because he could show me his skills. He woke up the next day, and he lost his soccer powers!

The Moon

Moon Knight works at night, but not in the day. Moon Knight is a soldier named Mark. He is hurt, and the God Khonsu saves him by giving him powers.

Khonshu needs to defeat a fake god, so he sends out Moon Knight, and Moon Knight goes out trying to find the fake god. He goes out to ask a lot of people and gets a clue. The fake god is Khonsu’s brother! When he tells Khonsu this, Khonshu gets mad. He makes Moon Knight go and fight, but he can’t get past the fake god’s Moon Knight. The fake Moon Knight is the enemy team’s captain and an evil version of Moon Knight.

So, Khonshu gives him better superpowers, and he beats the fake Moon Knight. Khonshu and his brother get into a fight. So, Khonshu takes his brother’s power and gives it to the real Moon Knight. Then, Moon Knight gets better powers and helps the overnight travelers.

Ethan is an eleven-year-old sixth grader from Los Angeles, California. He is a gamer and in a pro-gamer team. His favorite games are Cuphead, Marvel’s Rivals, and Roblox. He has won a lot of pro tournaments, winning eleven pro-games in one year.

The Forest Fire Everett B.

Ash, a capybara, loved his dad. But a wolf ate his dad.

One day, he and his mom were eating breakfast while watching the news. A rabbit claimed that he saw some wolves playing with fire. When he went to school the next day, he had to evacuate because a wildfire broke out.

When it was time to evacuate he got on the bus, but he decided to leave the bus because he sensed his mom was in danger. So he did not evacuate, and instead went looking for his mom. He couldn’t find her. Then a pack of wolves ran after him, but he teleported and headbutted a wolf on its back (reader, if you’re wondering how Ash got his powers to teleport, he got them by eating a mushroom).

The wolves noticed him as he walked away. Ash did not want to run, but then a bear bit him on the butt, which caused him to run faster than a fullspeed rocket ship leaving Earth.

A wolf complimented him by saying, “The world record speed for the IVASA capybara speedstar!”

Then Ash threw every predator in a dog pile. He went to the base of the predators, but he didn’t know where it was (the setting is in the forest). Suddenly he remembered all the animals that he had to save: rabbits, turtles, mice, birds, deer, snakes, pigs, sheep, goats, wild dogs, wild cats, and of course, capybaras. It was the nice, cute, cuddly creatures versus the really mean, bad predators.

Ash saw the park he used to go to with his dad. He remembered that day: He and his dad were playing in the park when five wolves came and attacked them. His dad was captured, and the wolves said they would eat the big capybara (his dad) for dinner.

Ash ran home and told his mom the terrible news. His mom started crying (reader, in case you’re wondering, Ash was a medium-sized capybara, and was very lazy until he got his powers; he has green sparkling eyes and a small fluffy tail).

The park was on fire, so Ash magically used his powers to shoot water from his palms to put the fire out. Then he saw the wolves’ base. He remembered seeing a dragon ordering some wolves and bears to make dinner. He thought, “Wait, the dragon is probably the boss.”

At the door, he defeated two wolves defending/guarding the door. He defeated them with a left jab dodge headbutt. Then he opened the door and entered the volcanic base.

He called out, “Hello? Anyone home!?”

Then he heard rumbling and a deep, gloomy voice said, “Who are you? A little creature coming into my base?”

Ash responded with, “Yes, I’m here to destroy you and your little army!”

The dragon replied, “Oh yeah? You’re about to get knocked into next week!”

Ash said back, “Huh, very funny. How much do you want to bet?”

The dragon became silent, then opened his mouth like he was about to say something, but ended up saying nothing.

“That’s what I thought,” said Ash, “Now let’s battle.”

Ash felt like his mom was very close to him and felt like she was right in front of him.

The dragon said, “Wondering where your mother is? She’s right behind me! She will fall into a cave in an hour and thirty minutes on the spot.”

“Okay,” said Ash, “Let’s go!”

Ash destroyed one of the horns, and the dragon cried. Then the dragon roared and breathed fire at Ash but missed. Ash said to the dragon, “You can’t get me! You can’t get me!” and started prancing around the base. The dragon grabbed a rock and threw it at Ash. Ash dodged left and when he ducked, he said, “Duck!”

The dragon said, “Where?”

Ash said, “Here!” and kicked him in the face.

“Ouch!” cried the dragon in pain.

The dragon grabbed a bat wing, which apparently was very big, and pinned Ash down with it. Next, he buried Ash in rocks. For a whole 30 minutes Ash was trying to get out. Finally, Ash got out and threw extremely fast punches at the dragon. Then with one final blow Ash headbutted the dragon into the lava, never ever to be seen again.

He announced on a big, big megaphone: “The dragon is defeated!” Then

he heard a roar. Not just any roar, a dragon’s roar. He turned around and saw the dragon. Ash poked him very lightly, and the dragon fell down. “Cooked,” Ash said.

He freed his mom and released his dad. They do a big family hug. He saved them.

When they got back home, he was greeted by the whole forest and they said, “We must celebrate!”

“Be gone bears and wolves!” the animals said.

“No!” said Ash. “They are now part of the town!”

“But after what they did to us?” an animal asked.

Ash replied, “No. It’s okay. We will celebrate with them.”

The big day of the party came. There was a feast of plants, which tasted like filet mignon, ribeye steak, picanha, and Fraldinha Brazilian steaks.

Everett likes soccer and loves traveling to different places with his family. He is currently playing for Sand & Surf and LA Galaxy Academies. In his free time, Everett likes to play soccer, read, write, and watch soccer. Everett’s favorite food is Brazilian BBQ. Everett’s favorite color is red, and his favorite soccer player is Ronaldinho. Everett’s dream is to publish a book and be a pro soccer player for the Brazilian national team in the World Cup. Everett lives in California, and is from many countries including Brazil, France, the United States, and China/Taiwan. My Mom is My Hero

My mom is my hero. She is my hero because she cooks yummy food for me. The best food she’s made me is spicy green pasta. I like it because it has a spicy taste. I also like it because the noodles are very long.

She is my hero because when I am sick, she helps me get better. My hero helps me get better by giving me medicine. She gives me good and tasty medicine. The medicine tastes like bubblegum. The medicine helps me by helping me get better, because maybe the next day I will not feel sick anymore.

She will always be my hero because she always does stuff for me. She will always be my hero because she loves me, and she also gives me hugs and kisses.

One time, my mom read me a story. The story that she read to me was a story that I liked. The story my hero read to me was Dog Man. Dog Man is a very interesting book to read. It is interesting because there are parts I didn’t expect, such as when Chief and Dog Man get hurt and have to go to the doctor. Chief and Dog Man broke their whole bodies, so Doc came up with the idea that they should put their bodies together, and that is how Dog Man became Dog Man.

My mom started reading Dog Man often. My mom likes the Dog Man stories she reads to me. There are so many books about Dog Man. I started reading Dog Man by myself. It’s my favorite book in the whole world. There are still a few more Dog Man books I need. Some Dog Man books are 243 pages, some are 169.

My mom is my hero because she loves me so much. I like reading Dog Man with my mom. After all, it is very fun to read a book with my mom.

Ezra is nine years old, and he is in the third grade. Ezra’s favorite hobby is soccer. Ezra likes to watch movies.

The Hero that Calls Himself Mike

Ring Ring Ring! The 826LA school bell rang. One sunny day in Paris, France, nine best friends—Daphne, Evie, Phoenix, Ava, Leila, Mila, Emma, Ella, and Stella—were walking to their lockers. They shortly realized that Mike was leaving.

“Where are you going?” said Phoenix.

“I am leaving for the day.”

“Why?” asked Leila.

“Don’t you normally leave at 4:20 PM after the teacher meeting?”

“I am going to Catalina today. My boat leaves in five hours, and I still have to pack.”

“Oh! okay,” they said in relief.

“I thought he was leaving permanently,” said Mila.

“Me too,” Ava said.

Mike got in his BMW and drove away, but he stopped at Trader Joe’s because he had to get some snacks for the boat ride. Then he noticed that he did not have his wallet with him because his cat, dog, snake, rabbit, parrot, turtle, fish, spider, slug, mouse, hamster, gecko, lizard, baby pig, hedgehog, chinchilla, pet ants, and yoda all ripped it up.

He just decided to pull out his handy-dandy pickle jar that had been sitting in his car since 2019 (his wedding on March 9 by the way). He enjoyed some pickles and ditched 826LA (how could you Mike!?).

All of a sudden, Mike felt/heard a thud hit the ground. A big asteroid hit Earth. Mike went to check it out. He saw a glowing purple goo. Mike decided to touch this purple goo, and what happened next will shock you… the truth is, nothing happened. But when he got home, that all changed.

He started feeling itchy like he had just touched poison ivy, and then his eyes got red and itchy. All of a sudden, he turned into Poison Ivy Man. If any evil person came at him, he could shoot poison ivy at them out of his fingers.

For the rest of the day it was quiet, until about 10:55 PM. Someone stole his pickle jar from 2019! He had to stop them. Mike really wanted the pickle jar back because he had actually found it in a time capsule from 1999 (so technically it was from 1999—not 2019—but he had not opened it until 2019).

So he grabbed his cape and was off to save the world. Mike tied the thief in poison ivy and used his power of opening pickle jars to open and spray pickle juice at him. The villain backed down and gave Mike the pickle jar. “Finally, my special pickle jar is back and safe with me!”

LeBron Versus the Army of Stephen Curry’s Basketball Players

In 2026, LeBron woke up in a hospital bed. His head hurt.

LeBron said, “Sigmaaa,” and then he said, “Smem!” with the loving cat emoji.

He woke up without knowing where he was. Last time he was awake, he was in the Laker’s stadium. LeBron was shooting threes, and the score was 10,000 to 0. Of course LeBron was winning! And the crazy thing was LeBron was playing ten versus one. He was playing against some of the best players, including Larry Bird, Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Hakeem, Shaq, Kevin Durant, Kobe, and of course, Stephen Curry. But that’s all LeBron remembered.

LeBron saw two doctors. It startled him! He said, “BAZINGAAA!”

One of the doctors said, “WHAT?! LeBron is awake!”

Then the other doctor said, “LeBron, you are the G.O.A.T.!”

All LeBron said was just, “Smem (with the loving cat emoji),” because LeBron was not as smart as before because he got a concussion, and he did not remember anything.

The first doctor said, “LeBron, we have tragic news… ”

Then the other doctor continued, “Ten years ago on the basketball court is when it happened.” Then he said, “Just look at your arms, and you will see!”

LeBron looked at his arms, and then said… “SMEM!”

Steph Curry’s secret underground base at 2 AM…

“Steph Curry,” Michael Jordan said, “LeBron is awake again! It’s all over the news!”

PFFFFFT! Steph spat his coffee out, “WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY?! HOW COULD YOU LET THIS HAPPEN?”

“Sorry, Steph Curry… but I know a few people who could help,” said Michael Jordan.

DINGALING DINGALING. The phone rang.

“Someone pick up,” and then someone picked up.

“... Uh… hello?”

The unknown person said, “Helllllooooo?”

Then MJ finally woke up. “AH! Oh, sorry, I was asleep. Is this Shaq?”

“Yeah, that’s me! Wait, I’m in a sweaty game of Fortnite!”

Over the phone MJ explained how they needed Shaq to defeat LeBron. Shaq told him yes, he would help them. You see, Shaq was gonna dunk on LeBron.

Yooooo, this was LeBron in the hospital: “SMEM (with a loving cat emoji)!” because that was all he could say! The two doctors showed LeBron the video of his last game 10 years ago! It showed him dunking from 10,000 feet in the air! Why did he jump so high? Well, people say it’s because he’s the G.O.A.T.!

Also, Baby Boo Syndrome was spreading throughout the world. Nobody knew this, but it would be a big problem for LeBron later! Scientists said that they had a formula that would give someone Baby Boo Syndrome for ten thousand dollars. Baby Boo Syndrome made a person five times stronger, but the formula only had a 2 percent chance of working.

Anyways, the video showed LeBron dunking! But he dunked so hard that HIS ARMS FELL OFF! LeBron felt buzzing. The doctor said, “So dude man, your arms fell off, but you are so cute and cool that you didn’t get knocked out cold!”

Then the other doctor said, “We have a plan! We are gonna give you new, cool, awesome robot arms so you can dunk again.”

Ten minutes later…

Doctor #1: “Okay, dude, you got your new arms. We also gave you new brains that are ten times smarter!”

“BRO SO COOL MAN!” LeBron said.

“Wait, no, I read that wrong. It says ten times less smart,” the doctor corrected.

Then LeBron exploded in the hospital and said, “Brother… ” That was the last anyone ever heard of the doctors.

ANYWAYS, at the Stephen Curry headquarters, Stephen Curry gathered every basketball player in the world by bribing them with money! There were ten thousand basketball players! Stephen Curry only needed seven for his team, so he was going to do a test with three stages!

The first stage was an eating contest! Every player had to eat 10 hot dogs. Kevin Durant and Dwayne Wade were putting up a good fight! But then, behind them was Shaq, who was ACING the test, obviously. Shaq won in one to two minutes.

Next was the speed test. Everyone was pretty fast, but they all had to run a lap around the deadly piranha pool! If they wanted to succeed, they had to balance and not fall!

Now LeBron was fully decked out with his new bionic arms! The arms had it all: rockets, jets, swords, and even a soda dispenser! LeBron was ready, and so was Steph Curry! LeBron needed to practice with his new arms. He drove to his secret underground training facility. He punched the test dummy, kicked the target, and lifted weights! His arms didn’t need to be exercised because they were metal, he just wanted to feel cool.

Then SMASH! LeBron heard glass breaking. He slowly turned around and saw Steph Curry! Steph brought his whole team. Steph has some of the best players! On his team were Victor Wembyama, MJ, Shaq, Dwayne Wade, Kevin Durant, LaMelo Ball, and of course, himself. LeBron noticed that Steph’s whole team had glowing green eyes. The whole team now had Baby Boo Syndrome. They all became five times stronger.

Even with a great team, Steph still wondered if it was even possible to beat LeBron in a one versus five game (with two more sitting on the bench). He would also have James Harden as a third sub.

Steph said, “Let’s settle this on the court… ”

After they arrived on the court, Steph said, “We have unfinished business! You are too good, so I made a team to outscore you.” Then he grabbed the ball and ran to LeBron’s hoop. He did a layup, and the score was 0 to 2.

“That’s it!” LeBron said, and he ran to the hoop, jumped 10,000,000 feet high, then dunked!

He jumped so high that he knew when he came down the force would make the court explode!

The court exploded! LeBron lost his arms yet again, but hey, at least he won the game! I guess Curry made the team just to get destroyed.

The Two Boys Camping

On a dark, cloudy day, two boys went camping in the forest. One of the boys set up his tent, while the other one went to explore the forest. He saw a glowing briefcase, so he walked towards it and opened it. He looked in and saw a flashback of all his memories. In his mind a voice said, “Find me.”

He returned back to camp and discovered his friend was missing. Jake said to himself, “He couldn’t have gone that far.” What Jake didn’t know was that Michael was a secret undercover agent.

Michael popped out of nowhere. Jake was in shock. Jake said, “Why are you doing this?!” Jake felt weird. He used his mind control power to throw Michael into a tree, which injured Michael badly, then Jake ran away.

At first, Jake was surprised, until he realized what he had done. Then he found out he had mind control power. Ten months later, he was avoiding fights at all cost. He did not want to hurt anyone else.

When Jake was fighting Michael, Michael had called the FBI on Jake. Ten months later, Michael’s funeral happened. Jake went to the funeral and saw a black car nearby. Then it drove off, and Jake followed the black car. What he didn’t know was that it was a mistake to follow that black car. The black car pulled over. Jake pulled over too, and then it was a battlefield.

Jake started running away, but he forgot he had mind control power. He used his mind control to pick up the trees and make a shield. Then Jake lifted the agents up into the air and dropped them, breaking their bones. Then he saw the black car was gone. Jake followed the black car until he was surrounded by cars. He got out of his car and saw Michael. Jake was confused. Jake asked, “How are you still alive?”

Michael said, “‘Sup Jake. Long time no see.” Jake went unconscious. “Take him away,” Michael commanded. Then he walked away.

They put Jake in a black car and drove off. Jake woke up in a dark, black room tied up to a chair. Michael said, “Look who finally woke up.” Then Jake used his mind control and threw Michael so he could escape. Jake escaped and found a door that opened into a different universe. He ran for miles across the new world.

Ten months later, the people who were working for Michael found Jake. He was near a river, and they drove to Jake’s house. They parked his car. One

of them went to check if anyone was in the car. The guy heard breathing from behind him. He looked back slowly, and saw that the other agents were gone. He went to check, but they were gone. He didn’t care because they were useless. He saw something in the distance, went closer, and saw Jake’s body unconscious on the ground.

My Dog Saved Me from a Bigger Dog

One night, I was outside playing tag with my friend Jake. We saw a little flash in the dark. My friend ran and climbed on top of the roof, and I saw the dog. It was hungry, and it wanted to bite me.

My friend ran away from me. I was alone, but my dog, Oso, saved me. I was safe. Oso saved me from the other dog.

John was in a fire, but his cat, Cheese, saved the boy. The city was on fire, but Cheese was walking around putting out the fire, because his family had died, and the city felt like home. Cheese got his powers from radioactive sewage.

The good guy, Sparky, went to the hospital because he had an issue walking. He was a dog who went out to go see Cheese, but he could not go to see Cheese, but he went into the fire so Cheese was saved. He sacrificed his life.

Cheese woke up and he saw that Sparky was in the hospital and Cheese cried. He was crying and he felt sad and he stayed by his side.

Julian’s favorite thing to do is play soccer, and his favorite pet is a dog.

The Bug Julio

One day in LA, a teenager named Gibali was climbing a tall mountain. Gibali had a cut on his right arm, and a bug went into him through the cut. Ten weeks later, he felt sick.

When he was trying to get a snack, a portal appeared and teleported the snack to him. Gibali said, “Holy… oh my god!” He then tried to teleport a soda can. He accidentally put two portals over one, and a laser came out and destroyed his apartment. Gibali said, “Holy shoot my credit card!’’ He tried to teleport his phone, but the teleport glitched, and a person came out. His name was Dash and he had an arm that looked drawn. He said, “I’m from dimension 1076303.” He also had a big pencil.

Then he disappeared to the streets, and an alert on Gibali’s phone popped up saying, “A world threat has appeared, stay indoors for now.” He said, “What the heck is going on?” It looked like it was an apocalypse. Everything was on fire, and Dash was levitating in the middle of the fire. A mini nuke rolled to his feet, and a large explosion knocked Gibali down. It blurred his vision and his ears rang. Everything went black.

Forty-two minutes later, he woke up to the sounds of terror from the burning flames. He was powerless from the blast and couldn’t stand up. He went to the flames and saw the man. He was melted. He was indescribable, and the whole city was in flames. Ghibali teleported water from the lake to the city to put out the fires. He saved two hundred people, but in the whole city there were five-hundred thousand people. Dash was there, causing more damage.

One week later, he found Dash in Ohio, so Ghibali teleported to him. When he saw Dash, he was holding Ghibali’s mom, who had stage five bone and brain cancer. Ghibali thought that she was dead. Dash said, “I won’t hurt your mother, but I brought her here to make you say your last words to her.” Ghibali went into a rage of destruction, trying to attack Dash from all sides, destroying more of the city in the process. Dash had an infinite amount of uno reverses, so the attacks would reverse to Ghibali.

With one tap of Dash’s finger, he passed out. Dash said, “I said, say your last words to her.” With the last of Ghibali’s power, he did his strongest attack using all his energy and killing himself in the process. Dash said, “What a disgrace to the superhero community.” The bug crawled out of Ghibali and ate him piece by piece. Then the bug teleported to somewhere else, waiting to see the next person who was destined to hold its power.

Julio is ten years old and from LA. Julio also likes to do origami and likes cats. Julio is in fourth grade at Westminster Elementary School. Julio also has a brother and hates homework. If Julio were free for a whole day, he would sleep all day.

My Brother Is the Best Superhero

The day that my brother saved me was the coolest day of my life. Ronny is a normal person. We play soccer together. One night, Ronny and I were at home watching TV. We both got really hungry and decided to go to Raising Cane’s to eat. After eating fries, chicken tenders, and drinking Dr. Pepper, we left the restaurant and went home. While walking home, a stranger pushed me, and I fell to the floor. Ronny got his superpowers.

He put both arms and hands straight out, and small tennis balls came out through his hands. The balls moved super fast. He liked his superpowers because when he threw the balls, they came out super strong. Ronny was already strong, but he got stronger. Ronny was worried that something bad had happened to me, but he saved me from danger!

Ronny was completely normal, and his clothes were the same. Afterward, we kept walking home, and Ronny held my hand. We got back home, and Ronny told me, “Go to bed.’’

I went to bed, and I was so scared, so I went to my brother’s room. I asked Ronny, “Can I sleep with you tonight?”

“Yes, come in,’’ he said.

He hugged me to be more calm and safe. Ronny always protects me, and he is my superhero. I love him so much and thank him for everything.

Kennedy loves fractions and multiplication. She is from Mexico and she is nine years old. She is in third grade and likes to play soccer with her friends. Kennedy also enjoys reading, writing, and drawing. Her family is her biggest motivation.

Who, What, Where, How?

“Who, what, where, how, what in the world?” I shouted.

I got an alarm on my TV and it said, “KIDNAPPER! HIDE!” I was just chilling in my room watching TV, doing nothing, eating my pasta, and being lazy.

“Okay,” I said with a lazy voice, “if there is a kidnapper, I DON’T CARE! Oh yeah, I made a song. I DON’T CARE, I LOVE IT, I DON’T CARE, I LOVE IT, I LOVE IT. That song was goooooood. Hopefully, the OG writer of the actual song does not hear.”

One minute later…

Knock knock. “WHY DID YOU REMAKE MY SONG!?” The song’s OG writer screamed.

“I did not know you would be here. Life is fast,” I said, not trying to be rude, but honestly, I think it came out rude. SLAM! She shut the door.

The TV said, “MAN-NAPPER! HIDE!”

“What’s a man-napper?” I said to myself in confusion.

“A man-napper is someone who kidnaps men,” said a mysterious voice. “Who are you and why are you in my house? AAAAAH!” The man-napper took my leg and ran.

“HELP!” I yelled. He put me in a car and drove over 100 mph in a 5 mph school zone. I had no seatbelt on, so I felt like I was going to fly out of the window, but I was chained, so I could not move. My hands and feet were in pain because of how tight the chains were. It felt like my whole body was burning to death.

We stopped, and the unknown person pulled me up random stairs. It made my body feel like there was a knife going through my heart. It was so painful that I could not feel my body parts. The guy took me inside a random door. Inside was a big cage, and in my opinion, I think that he was going to put me inside. I was absolutely right.

“Why are you doing this?” I asked in curiosity.

“None of your beeswax,” the man-napper said in a harsh voice. “But I don’t have any beeswax,” I said in truth. “What? I really don’t.”

“You are the most annoying man I have ever napped.”

“Well, that’s why you shouldn’t have man-napped me!” I screamed.

“Just… can you stay quiet?”

“Of course not, I am man-napped and you want me to stay quiet!?”

I yelled with the loudest voice in the world. It was so loud that a guy outside on his phone heard me.

“Oh yeah, this is where the drama happens,” I said in a whisper, but I wished I had said it in a slightly quieter voice.

“What do you mean, ‘This is where the drama happens?’” The man-napper said with a loud and curious voice.

“I heard that!” The guy outside said. “FBI open up,” the guy outside continued, who was actually an FBI agent.

“No. Thank you, I am a mom and I have two-hundred thousand kids, so I am really busy. I can’t help you now, but come later,” the man-napper said with a high-pitched woman’s voice. It did not sound like a woman’s voice.

“I don’t care. Open up,” the FBI agent said. “Is the FBI dumb? Twohundred thousand kids is too many kids. That’s not possible, and if it was possible, the building would explode!”

“Bruh.”

“Okay, if you don’t want to open the door, that’s fine. Bye,” the FBI agent said.

“WHAT!?” I said with so much power in my voice that the people outside and the man-napper got so scared.

“AAAAAH,” the man-napper screamed.

“I read in the FBI and police dictionary that if someone did something bad, I can break the door open, so sorry but… ” BOOM! The FBI agent busted the door open.

“Oh my gosh,” the mannapper said with shock. At first, I thought he was in shock because the FBI agent busted the door open, but then, when I looked at the FBI agent, I knew that was not the reason. The FBI agent was so buff and full of muscles, but his voice had sounded like a little kid’s. The FBI agent handcuffed the man-napper and put him in a car.

“I wanted to be rich,” the man-napper cried.

“Bruh, you can’t sell me,” I said in an exasperated voice.

“Okay, I’m alone. What do I do? Oh, lightbulb! I am going home,” I said with a yippee. I walked to a bus stop a couple of blocks away from the man-nappers hideout where he man-napped people. Thankfully, I had two dollars in my pocket, so I took a bus home.

When I got home, I got into my PJs, but when I put them on, the burn of the bumpy stairs hurt me so bad. Blood was coming out of big scars and cuts. I was in pain. I was in so much pain that I put one hundred Band-Aids on myself. I closed my eyes, and magically the pain and the cuts went away. I will never find out how I did that. I only found out I had the superpower to heal cuts and pain.

“I will use this in the future,” I said to myself in a dramatic voice.

One week later

“Who, what, where, how, what in the world!?” I shouted. I got an alarm on my TV. “Oh no, not again,” I sighed.

Family Collection and the Best Friend

Hi, I’m Kimberly, I have an older brother named Kevin. He is thirty-three years old and he works in a restaurant. My older brother is nice to me, he always plays with me with board games and crafts. We exercise together, stretching and tickle fighting, and WWE fights. My older brother, Kevin, likes making things with LEGO bricks because he has a BIG collection of LEGO sets!!! For example, he has Japanese tree LEGO bricks, Pokemon LEGO bricks, Batman LEGO bricks, boxes of LEGO cars, and LEGO plants. Also, he’s been collecting pins since he was 10 years old, for about 23 years. Right now, he has 310 pins in total after a lot of years that he has been collecting. Lastly, my older brother collects Smiski in keychains or in models. He has been traveling a lot which has allowed him to collect so many charms of pins. They are so cool that some of them can move.

I make Kandi cuffs like rotators, xbase, and a fidget with beads. I make kandi peyote patterns and creative kandi bracelets. Sometimes, I crochet, make crafts with cardboard, or really crafts with anything. I sew small blankets, pillows, and books. I like to decorate my room with creative things I make and I also decorate some clothes like shirts, pants, short jeans or capri pants. Also, I have been crocheting a blanket, a plushie, an organizer, clothes and more. Similar to my brother, I collect things, only I make them.

I’m eleven years old. My birthday is in March. So far, I’ve crocheted a Ferret, a plant for my teacher, a Pibble, a star blanket, a creative organization for my room, a plant to hold my hair clips, and have even made pottery to organize my crochet things in. I play volleyball in Mar Vista. Also when summer break comes, my mom will put me in the volleyball team to play because I’ve been playing since 2024, and have won second place with my teams. This year, my goal is to win first place because my team is so close to winning a championship. I have been training for two years and I got better than when it was my first time playing a real game, but I got scared and I sold so badly and I didn’t get to hit anything because I kept missing.

I also do kickboxing! When I joined to 826LA, Julia asked me,“What sport do you want to play?’’

I said, “I want to learn kickboxing to defend myself. I want to learn some cool skill and it just looks so cool.’’

So, Julia said that she would find a place that was for kickboxing. I was like, “What will it take to find places?”

‘’It will take like one week to find a place that teaches kickboxing like Ronny and you want,” Julia said.

‘’Oh ok,’’ I said.

So, I waited for two weeks. Waiting felt like one thousand years. But FINALLY, they told me that THEY FOUND IT! They told me that I had to follow the rules and directions, and I’d get to my class. I just want to shout out and thank Julia for finding the sports that I like because I was shy to talk when it was my first day in 826LA, but when I made friends who were friendly, I felt more confident and not shy anymore.

Anyways, I also have a best friend, Ronny. When I was five years old, my mom took me to a school named Grand View Elementary and I was in UTK, which was my first day of school. But, when I was distracted, my mom and my dad had already left and when I didn’t see my parents, I was sad that my parents left me. I was in my first day of school, so I was sad and didn’t know what to do, but when a boy named Ronny came up to me and said, “Do you want to play with me?” I said, “Sure!”

We started to play together and got along with each other. Ronny and I were having so much fun. One day, we went from playing to actually becoming friends! Growing up together, we hung out a lot because he was very funny and nice. We played with each other, and I have a lot of memories about funny days. Every time it is Friday, I go to Ronny’s house to hang out with him and Ronny’s little sister named Kennedy. Also, since Ronny’s ear has been hurting, he has been covering his ear in pain. I take care of him and he takes care of me when I get hurt. He will ask me, “Are you okay?” Which is nice.

Ronny was my first ever best friend that hung out with me a lot. He is chistoso (funny). I remember when Ronny and I went to the snow and did a race sliding down a hill. Ronny’s little sister, Kennedy, was also there but the plan didn’t go how we thought and ended up doing a snow fight. Ronny threw the snow ball right at my head.

Kimberly is in fifth grade, and is eleven years old. She loves to crochet, make kandi, and do crafts. She will be receiving her biliteracy seal award, and her mom is very proud. Her favorite sports are volleyball and kickboxing. She loves to play gaga with her friends.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Everett are the G.O.A.T.s

Once, there was a soccer player. His name was Cristiano Ronaldo, and he went to the space biome to play soccer, where all the best soccer players in the world go. He stayed there for six years, and then he became so good that he went to Earth to play soccer, and this is what happened: Gooooooooooooal! to Cristiano Ronaldo. Then he beat the world record for goals, and he realized that the space biome made him so much better. He wore his popular number seven.

Now this guy nicknamed “the barking dog,” iShowSpeed, was a fan of Ronaldo and not Messi. He trolled Messi, and when he saw Ronaldo, he went bananas. Then Ronaldo went back to the space biome for six years, and nobody knew where Ronaldo went. Ronaldo knew where he was, but he was not scoring goals at the space biome because he was the worst one among all the soccer players. He returned to Earth, and everybody ran to him asking him where he had been. He did not tell them because that was his secret weapon, and he did not want to give his secret weapon away.

What Ronaldo did know was that iShowSpeed was a YouTuber with six hundred trillion subscribers. iShowSpeed saved Messi, who had no subscribers, by getting him three hundred billion subscribers.

Then the news said that aliens were going to take over the world and that Ronaldo had to use everything he had learned at the space biome against them. Ronaldo had to betray the aliens from the space biome. To prepare, Ronaldo trained all the people who needed training so that he could save the world. Once they did that, they would need to save themselves from the other biomes.

The aliens from the space biome got to Earth. The people of Earth defeated them 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 to nil. Soccer saved the Earth! Messi and Ronaldo weren’t rivals anymore; they were friends. This made everything in soccer boring, until a kid named Everett arrived and was so good that Messi and Ronaldo had to team up against him just to barely tie him in a soccer match.

Everett loved capybaras, and he trained capybaras to be as good as him at soccer. The world told him to go against the space biome. He got the Guinness World Record as the best soccer player of the year in 3026. He won the soccer award, the Ballon D’Or. He told the Ballon D’Or people to

make the Ballon D’Or trophy a cool 3D Rubik’s cube, and they changed it for next year’s award.

Then the news said Ohio was getting attacked by the aliens again! The aliens were coming to their city in three days. Ohioans were like, “The aliens are coming again!” So they went crazy. They trained hard, and when the aliens arrived, they were ready. They battled them in another soccer match and beat them even crazier than Earth beat them before. The score was 10,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 to 0.

After that, the aliens never came back, because they were scared to lose again. They ended their battle, and the people of Earth lived happily ever after.

Liam is nine years old and is half Brazilian. He loves playing Minecraft, Roblox, and Fortnite. He makes people laugh when he says the word spaghetti. He has a friend named Everett at 826LA. Liam lives in Los Angeles, California, and goes to Broadway Elementary, the same school as his friend Everett. Liam is in fourth grade.

Melanie Steps in Toxic Waste

Once upon a time, Melanie, Lydia, and Gordito went into a toxic waste factory for some weird reason. Then Melanie accidentally stepped into the toxic waste!

“Ewww. I stepped in the toxic waste. Let’s get out of here!” Melanie said. So they got out of there and they went home.

When Melanie went home, she turned into a cat because the toxic waste kicked in during nighttime. By the way, Gordito was Melanie’s little brother. He was two years old. If you told Gordito “beso” and touched your cheek, he would kiss you. Melanie’s superpower was turning into animals, and secretly, Lydia could turn into animals too. In the daytime, Lydia went into Melanie’s home. When they went into Melanie’s room, Melanie turned into a cat!

“Oh no, I must have switched brains with a cat,” Melanie said.

“You didn’t switch brains. Also that doesn’t freak me out because I can do it too,” Lydia said.

Lydia turned into a cat as well. Then Melanie freaked out.

“Aaa ooo my goodness,” Melanie said.

“Calm down,” Lydia said. Then Gordito came into the room.

“Kitty cat,” said Gordito.

“Shh shh shh! Gordito, be quiet,” Melanie and Lydia said.

Lydia and Melanie were black cats. Melanie’s cat eye color was green and Lydia’s cat eye color was blue and orange. They were medium-sized cats. Melanie felt uncomfortable that Lydia could only turn into a human, so Lydia stayed as a cat, too. Melanie couldn’t turn into a human because she didn’t know how to yet. Then, Gordito hugged Melanie from behind, tightly.

Gordito said, “Kitty cat!”

Melanie jumped into the air, and Gordito flew onto the couch. Their parents walked in and kept saying “shoo shoo” to the cats and tried to get them out of the house with a broom. Then Gordito started to clap and giggle.

When Melanie and Lydia went out of the house, Lydia had to teach Melanie to turn back into a human. So, they went to a park with a big tree.

Lydia said, “In order to turn back into a human, you need to learn animal instincts.” Then they did an epic montage. When Melanie used the instincts of a cat, she turned back into a human. When they were both humans, a Rhino rampaged into the park.

Lydia said, “Ready, Melanie?”

Melanie replied, “Yeah.”

Then Lydia turned into a cheetah and Melanie turned into King Kong. After a bunch of battling, Lydia and Melanie won! Then everyone at the park cheered.

Lydia is eight and a half years old. Her dad is from Texas. Her mom is from California but she grew up in Hawaii. Lydia’s favorite subjects are math and art.

SUPERCAT

Matthew

Supercat was walking to school when Littlebro, the bully, said something bad to Supercat. Littlebro wore a shirt, black pants, and he bullied Supercat and Superdog. Supercat wears a white and black shirt and blue pants at school.

Supercat kept walking because he wanted to keep his secret that he was a superhero. He was scared to show his superpower to Superdog. But Superdog needed help with Littlebro.

Superdog said to Supercat, ‘’You’re suspicious.’’

Then Supercat said, ‘’No, I’m not!” But Superdog left, then school ended. Supercat forgot about everything after school ended. He went home and worked out all day. Supercat’s powers were flying, speed, and invisibility. When he saved the day, Supercat wore a blue cap and red and blue pants.

Supercat’s Mom was cooking, his dad was watching TV, and Supercut was studying. Then Supercat heard on the news that there was a building on fire. Supercat ran to his room to get his suit, which was in his closet. Then he flew away.

There was a monster called Big Jack. Supercat was saving people in the building from the fire. Supercat heard a roar, and it was Big Jack. They both heard a song called “She Goin’ Call Me Baby Boo.”

Then LittlePhoenix and Big Jack went to fight Supercat. He needed backup, so he brought Superdog, his best friend, and they fought. Little did they know, the bully Littlebro was coming next time.

Supercat knocked out Big Jack, and Superdog was knocked out. Then there was Supercat and LittlePhoenix. They fought, but the bully Littlebro was back, and he wanted revenge because Supercat had pushed him. Supercat saw Littlebro. Supercat was so hurt that he almost knocked out. Then he saw his mom and dad were praying for him to win. He woke up and fought LittlePhoenix and his bully. Supercat bit LittlePhoenix’s hand, and he threw his bully into a building. Superdog said, “You won,” and everyone cheered his name over and over and over.

Then Superdog and Supercat went home, but they had another fight with two monsters. Superdog knocked out one monster. Then Supercat knocked out the other monster. But a third monster captured Superdog. Supercat said, “Nooooo!” He went home. Supercat was sad because

Superdog was caught by the monster, and he wanted to get revenge. He saw Big Jack and LittlePhoenix again. Supercat fought them for about five minutes. Then Supercat called the police on both of them. He said, “This is for Superdog.” Then he went home.

Here are five facts about Matthew. The first one is that he’s a fan of cats and dogs. The second one is that he plays Roblox, Fortnite, and Rocket League. The third one is he watches Demon Slayer and Snoopy. The fourth is that he goes to school at Beethoven Elementary School. The last one is that he is ten years old.

The Dark and Merciless Night

It was a crisp fall morning, the kind that seemed like nothing would go wrong… but mornings can be deceiving. The day went perfectly until night. Nights are dark and merciless. They come quickly. No one ever sees them, like dew on fall leaves.

We expected our owner to come, yet there we waited. And so we ran, far from the house, to the outskirts of town. Then we saw her, bound in rope, tape on her mouth, tied to a chair. We prepared to jump on her with joy and relief. Her expression was a mix of annoyance and pure happiness, but her face turned dead cold with fear.

She shook her head and then broke from a trance, and managed what smile she could with her mouth bound by tape. Soon we began to gnaw at the ropes, until a dark figure appeared in the shadows. It came forward, arm extended, reaching for our owner.

But then the sun, the beautiful glorious sun, came out. And suddenly the thing let out a screech and submerged itself in darkness. Traumatized, we began a transformation. Once dogs, we were now protectors.

It was another regular day, not eager for our owner to leave, but waiting. Once she left, we put on our capes and began to guard the house. We walked along the perimeter of our beige house, the foyer marked with plants and a doormat. Soon we began to pant, yearning for food and water, but still we would not allow ourselves to rest. Suddenly, we both spoke to each other, something we never realized we could do.

“Otis,” I said. “We have to protect her better. She’s done so much and we have done too little.”

“But Juno, she does not even know… why do more when no one will see?” I sighed. ”What could we do anyway?” I thought to myself.

Soon she was back, sadder than usual after the incident. She came and petted us, then frowned and walked away. In her room, we plotted how to protect her better. Then we heard a shrill scream from the kitchen. Maddie was gone.

Back to the outskirts of town we went. Gray fields blanketed the edges of the town. This time we would not allow danger to wrap its nasty fingers around her. Out from the shadows came a villain. Not just a villain, the villain. Suddenly we knew his name: Carlos.

He smiled, his sharp teeth gleaming, and out from his mouth he pulled a square key. He pushed it into a dead tree trunk, and a portal opened. Orange and purple swirls engulfed him and Maddie, and they were gone. We jumped through the portal, and a wave of fatigue and nausea washed over us.

We flopped out of the portal. “One chance to go back,” said Otis. “Nope,” I replied.

Soon we found her. Then we hid, waiting for the perfect moment. When it finally arrived, we saw the horror that had terrorized us for weeks. He grabbed her head and carefully leaned it forward. Then he drew out the square key, and tried to unlock her by sticking it into her ear… but not this time.

We pounced on him, slurping his face with our toxic dog spit. His face shriveled, for he could not handle the love of two dogs.

Epilogue

A beam of sun on our backs, the smell of crisp snow, and the steady breathing of a sleeping human—It was a cheerful winter morning. This time nothing would go wrong. Someday we would go back home, for this was not the happy ending we had so longingly hoped would come. The little log cabin was perfect. We had found it in the woods, deserted, with a dusty bed and sturdy oak table. Small but cozy.

And finally, in the dead of night, we spit out the key. As we did, we heard a laugh—just a whisper—flying on the wind. Then a voice said, “You will pay… ” and then nothing.

The key disintegrated in the wind, and the laugh rang through our ears until the key was gone. We went to bed (far past a reasonable curfew). But I couldn’t sleep… I thought I saw a shadow in the window, but I shook my head and closed my eyes.

Powers Melanie S.

Melanie and Lydia are in Japan. They are walking by the lake, and Melanie tells Lydia a funny story about her baby brother turning into a gorilla. Melanie is not paying attention to Lydia and then falls into the lake. She shouts, “AH!’’ But, she is excited because it is her first time touching Japanese water. Melanie gets out of the water by herself. Then

Lydia says, ’’I have powers?” Melanie calls her friends and tells them that Lydia has powers.

Kennedy says, ‘’I do not believe you.’’

Melanie says, “You don’t believe me? I will show you then!”

All of her friends come to see. Melanie trips on purpose and Lydia uses her powers.

Kennedy says, “OMG!”

Lydia starts running because everybody sees her powers. Lydia is scared.

Melanie likes math and she has two sisters and three brothers. She likes to play with her friends, and she is eight years old. She is in third grade and has a funny friend named Kennedy and her birthday is in May. Her BFFs are Kennedy, Kimberly, Lydia, and Isabella.

Luna, The Hero

Luna is a hero. She is sixteen years old and lives in Arizona. One day, she saw a girl taking a picture of a turtle. The girl got too close and fell into the pond. Luna pulled her sticky rope out of her backpack, but she accidentally twisted the rope while pulling the girl up. The girl got out of the pond. She got dizzy and threw up. The rope was covered in vomit. When Luna saw the rope, she threw up too. Then everybody got sick!

Luna’s parents took her and the little girl to the hospital. The hospital had to call other doctors to help. The doctors gave everyone medicine, but gave the babies ice cream with medicine because it tasted better. Everyone was glad Luna saved the day, but upset at the little girl for getting everyone sick.

Michelle is seven years old. Michelle likes to play soccer at Mar Vista. She likes the color pink. Her favorite food is salad.

Stranger Things

It was 7:20 A.M., Beeb, Beeb, Beeb. My alarm went off. “OH NO!!” Sky said, “I’m about to miss my flight.”

Two hours later, Sky thought, “Thank God I came as fast as I could. Well, actually, I need to go to the bathroom.”

Sky started singing her bathroom rap, “Let’s go back to Indiana circa 1983. Just four boys in the basement chilling, playing DND. There was Lucas, Willy, Will, Dustin, and Mike. But one night, Will goes missing while he’s riding on his bike. YIKES, that’s when they met me, Elev, I had no hair on my head. I had been so close to death. Meanwhile, Dr. Brenner hunted me 24/7.”

A stranger knocked on the door, “Excuse me,” the stranger said.

“Oh, umm, occupied,” Sky said.

“I SAID OPEN THE DOOR,” the stranger said angrily.

Sky replied, “Chill, I was just washing my hands.”

Then another stranger came along.

“HEY, you let me see that tattoo,” the stranger said.

“Umm, who?” Sky and the stranger replied.

“Both of you,” said the new stranger

“Umm, okay,” Sky and the other stranger said.

“Hey, we’re siblings from Papa’s old lab.”

“REALLY?” Sky and the stranger said.

“YEAH!!!”

So each of them introduced themselves. There was Sky, Monse, and 67. Suddenly, they remembered their old sibling, Vecna, and how Vecna betrayed them. They couldn’t get over Vecna making their siblings suffer severe pain.

Sky, Monse, and 67 made a plan to defeat Vecna. All of them went to the old Hawkins Lab, where Papa took tests on children (who were the siblings of Sky, Monse, and 67). This was all because Papa wanted a kid with powers so that he could change the world. As they went inside the old Hawkins Lab, they saw a black hole. They went inside the black hole, and it was like a blackout. It was slimy and crunchy. They saw their sibling, Vecna. When they walked up to Vecna and started fighting him, 67, Sky, and Monse realized that the only way they could defeat their brother was by closing the black hole with them inside. As they sacrificed themselves, their last words were, “We are not horses, we’re humans and humans are...” BLACKOUT.

Montserrat is an eleven-year-old girl who loves to cook. She wishes that she could be a professional chef. Her favorite color is rose gold or wine red. She loves to read the series by Raina Telgemeier. Her favorite food is Alfredo pasta, and she loves to come to 826LA.

Doctor Aleena

One day, there was a doctor named Aleena. Aleena was from Mexico, and when she was little, she wanted to be a doctor. And when she was an adult, she was a doctor.

Doctor Aleena wanted to be a doctor because her mom was a doctor. She liked to wear doctor’s clothes. She wore white shoes and a blue shirt.

One day, Elianne, Julian, Lily, and Natali were sick from COVID. Doctor Aleena gave Elianne, Julian, Lily, and Natali medicine. The four of them got better and felt happy and sad. Elianne, Julian, Lily, and Natali were sad to go back to school because they hated their teacher.

The kids went back to school and got sick from COVID again. The kids went to Doctor Aleena again, and she gave the kids medicine. Doctor Aleena told the kids not to go to school for one year. The kids said, “Yes!” and were happy because they wanted to be doctors. Elianne, Julian, Lily, and Natali hated Doctor Aleena’s medicine.

They all had fun because Doctor Aleena was the best. The kids were sad because they did not go to school to play anymore. Then Doctor Aleena asked the kids if they wanted to help her be a doctor. The kids said yes because Doctor Aleena was the best.

Helping My Brother Nyla W.

Hi! My name is Nyla. I am ten years old. I have one brother named Elijah. He is eight years old. He has a hard time tying his shoes by himself. He has a pair of shoes and he loves them so much. But, there is one small problem. There are no straps, and he does not know how to tie his shoes by himself. I soon realized that he needed help. I did not ask him if he needed help. I let him ask me, so he came to me.

Four months later, my brother was in the bedroom all alone, and he grabbed his shoes and started to tie his shoes in my bedroom. He came running and said, “Nyla, I can tie my shoes!”

He learned how to tie his shoes because of my mom, dad, and me. It was hard for him. It took him a long time. I showed him my technique. I

use the bunny-loops method. He learned how to make the bunny loops. It took him one billion times.

I was so happy for him for a lot of reasons. One of the reasons is that now I do not have to help him tie his shoes when he is with his friends. My superpower is not just helping him tie his shoes. My other superpower is helping him with his math homework.

Sometimes I think being a big sister is a curse, but I have to think about the good things. I like that I can tell him what he needs to do, like how to tie a shoe and get good at math. That is too my superpower.

Nyla is a fourth grader at Short Avenue Elementary. A fun fact is that she likes to play soccer. Her favorite colors are pink and blue.

The Question

“Oliver!” said Ms. Rosy, “Are you paying attention?”

“Yes,” I was just looking around the science lab we were at for a field trip.

Our guide led us to a large machine with an outlined metal square on the ground and two metal poles with large spheres sticking out of two rods. They were sticking out from the ceiling.

“This is a technical enchanter used to enhance our strength.”

“Wow,” said the class.

“I want to get buff!” said my friend Bodhi.

All of a sudden, a crackle erupted from the control panel! “Oh no,” said the scientist, “It’s glitching again.”

Then a beam of red and yellow light erupted from the machine and hit me. It felt like I had been shocked! The scientists rushed over to help me.

“I’m fine,” I said. Twenty minutes later, my parents came to pick me up.

On the way home, my mom said, “I’m going to sue them for ten thousand dollars.”

“Er… OK?” I said.

The next morning, I woke up and walked to school. Later, I was walking home, then I was walking across the street, and I got hit by a car! I expected to die or something, but I was fine? I ran away from the scene, hoping not to attract any attention. What was happening? I was so confused about what was happening the next morning I woke up. I stretched out my hand, and all of a sudden, a burst of fire and lightning shot out of my hand. What was happening to me all of a sudden? I had superpowers, and at school, I was on the stairs and I fell off, but somehow I could fly. What was going on, seriously!? Later, I was at the movie theater to go see a movie with my friends. My dad also tagged along. A robber came into the room, and my dad told me to run. I heard a boom, and my dad came into the room.

“What happened?” I said.

A worker sacrificed himself to save me. I could have saved him, I thought. That’s why I decided to become a superhero, to fight for people and to keep all evil scum and villainy away from Los Angeles. This is how I became The Question.

Oliver is eleven years old. He lives in California, USA, with his sister, mom, and dad. He also plays basketball and tennis. Oliver enjoys collecting Pokémon, playing with LEGO sets, and boogie boarding. Some of Oliver’s favorite books are Warriors, Wings of Fire, and Diary of a Wimpy Kid. The Animals, Muril, and I

One day, my family and I were going to the LA Zoo, and we met an old lady named Muril. She told us how much she loved animals and that she had been researching for 40 years! She said we should protect the animals and not hurt them or let anyone else hurt them.

We started to leave the area, but then Muril said, “Wait! I need your help to stop a man named Dr. Furry! He wants to kill animals and use their fur for coats!”

“Can I be your sidekick?” I asked.

“That would be amazing!” said Muril.

The next night, I visited Muril. She told me that Dr. Furry was a dumb name and that I could call him Tiny Man (because he was very short and small). We made a plan to stop Tiny Man/Dr. Furry and get to the animals before he did. Dr. Furry came to the animals and found us. He got mad and overreacted, then he shouted and walked away. Dr. Furry didn’t believe we could stop him because Muril was just an old lady, and I was just a kid.

The next day, Muril and I hoped Dr. Furry was gone. But just then he came. He looked mad, his face was red. He said they got away this time… but next time he would win, and he left.

“Tiny Man! Tiny Man!” I said. He stormed off. It started to rain. We got the animals. We took them to the indoor reptile exhibit and waited until the rain stopped.

The next week, Dr. Furry/Tiny Man came again, Muril used her machine and shrunk him, and let one of the animals eat him.

Sidney and Her Powers to Shape Shift into a Cat

One day in an alleyway, a black cat stepped into a puddle of acid. It made the cat sick. Meanwhile, there was a girl named Sidney. She was fifteen years old. One day, Sidney was walking. She saw a black cat throwing up, then it bit her! The next day, Sidney woke up, and she was not feeling herself. She looked in the mirror and saw she was a cat!

Then, with the blink of an eye, she was back to being human.

“What am I going to do?!”

The next day, she was at school, and there was a lockdown because there was a robber. The robber kidnapped all her family, and Sidney started to think about her cat powers. Then she turned into a cat, and she ran away.

She ran for six hours, and then she was at her uncle’s house.

Knock, knock, knock.

Her uncle opened the door, “Shoo! Shoo! Go away, cat!” Then Sidney was back to being human.

“Oh, come in, come in.” Sidney walked in. There were silk couches, chandeliers, and a fancy car. Sidney went into her guest room.

She looked in the mirror, and said, “I look better as a cat.” Sidney had long black hair, a black hoodie, jeans, and sneakers.

Then her uncle came in and said, “I feel sick. Is there a cat in here?” When Sidney’s uncle went to sleep, she snuck out. She went to her home city, New York. She saw everyone running! She turned into a cat… but then she saw a red dot, and she followed the dot.

“I can’t help it! Stop it, stop it!” But she could not stop.

Then she heard something, “I will destroy New York until I find Sidney!”

“Uh oh!” said Sidney.

Then, the dot stopped. Sidney was going to save New York!!! Sidney saw the face of the man destroying the city; it was the robber! Sidney fought

the robber and sent him to jail. Sidney’s family came back! Her little sister, Hallie, her mom and dad, her older brother, Sam, and her older sister, June, all lived happily ever after.

Penelope is eight and a half. She is from Canada. She is in second grade. She lives in LA, and is a student of Ocean Charter School and 826LA! Penelope loves to draw. She also plays basketball and volleyball. Penelope LOVES to go to 826LA!

The Dino Adventures

Popper the dino was having an amazing birthday party with a huge cake he had baked for everybody. Suddenly, this mysterious person named Toofy, who looked strangely like a villain from a book Popper was reading, appeared. That mysterious person turned out to be a super villain in real life, with a REAL wand that looked so shiny. Popper thought he must have invited her (news flash, he didn’t).

Suddenly, a big flashy laser shot out of Popper’s hand, splitting his custommade party table in half. Everybody started screaming and yelling like the police were chasing them. Toofy ran out of the room in a super strange way, as if she was avoiding something… or someone. Toofy ran out of the party so very fast and in shock!

Toofy started blasting her lightning powers to destroy everything in sight. Popper froze on the spot, wondering what he wanted to do with his new powers. He could either run away or be the astonishing hero who saves the day! Just then, Toofy showed up and teleported Popper through a weird wormhole that led to a sixth-dimension: a black and white battlefield.

Toofy appeared again and said, “If you beat me in a magic card game, I will never bother you again.”

Popper was petrified but gathered the courage to say, “Try to beat me.”

The game was tough. Popper was in the lead. Then Toofy. Then… a TIE!? At the very last second, Popper pulled out the winning card.

Popper jumped for joy. “I win, you lose,” he said teasingly.

Toofy fell to the floor in disbelief, thinking of why she started to destroy the world in the first place. Toofy questioned herself, “Why did I do this? Was it because of the sadness in my heart or the anger?”

Suddenly, Toofy had a flashback to her past, her brain spinning in thought. Toofy grew up with amazing parents with good jobs. Toofy was going to have a great future. On a cold winter day in December 1999, that future was crushed when her family and her were kidnapped! They were all getting tested to become frightening villains who would take over the world. On that stormy day, Toofy took the test and was a perfect match, so that’s what she had become: a frightening villain. The only way in history to break this curse was to beat Toofy in a game of magic cards,

which Popper had just done… suddenly, Toofy snapped back into reality and turned into a gorgeous and brilliant girl.

Popper explained how Toofy had been controlled by something. Then Toofy said, “Wait a minute. Weren’t you at 826LA? The one who made the backfired cake that turned everyone into rabbits except you?”

Popper said. “Ooooo yuh, that was me,” he said, scratching his head.

Then Toofy said, “Well, since my extremely cool powers are gone, a new villain will show up, who lets just say has anger problems. His name is… well...”

Suddenly, this one-toothed scary villain cut in, saying, “mY nAmE iS nAgUmO hEhAAAA.”

Just then, Toofy fell through a void and into the headquarters where the former top villain and now boss of all the creepy villains was. His name was agent Dove. He had silver eyes and hair that could send an instant chill down your spine. Fun fact: He also always carried a box full of roses and a broken TV to spy on all the other villains.

While Popper was fighting Nagumo (or at least trying to), Toofy was getting a whole lecture from agent Dove about “how could you do this” and “blah blah blah.” A total snooze fest. Then Toofy tapped on the broken TV and it turned on, showing that Nagumo had used his powers to teleport! Suddenly, Toofy’s eyes widened at seeing Nagumo behind her.

“hElLo ToOfY, My DeAr FrIeNd,” Nagumo said in a really creepy way.

Popper fell to the floor, confused. Where did Nagumo go after he disappeared?

Popper had the most magnificent shift in his life. He knew now his calling was to be a super dino. After that spark of confidence, it grew and grew, and he saved the world.

Phoenix is a fourth grader at Beethoven Street Elementary who loves pizza, soccer, gaming, and reading. She likes dressing up and playing with her pets. She has three siblings and wants to be a singer/actor when she’s older. Her hobbies are playing sports and laughing.

The Master of Fate

Baljeit was an ordinary teen who originally lived in India but moved to Houston, Dallas. He was so smart that he became a teacher and taught six or seven classes.

One day, he was chosen to go to a new planet. There were tiny spacebugs, and when he touched one, it exploded! Then, he got psychic powers and became THE MASTER OF FATE!

A few days later, he went back home and became popular. He went to some random kid’s house. Her name was Crystal.

He said, “Hi! I’m your new superhero, the Master of Fate.”

“Are you really a superhero?” Crystal asked in a sassy way.

“Oh yeah, I forgot about the sassy girls,” Master of Fate said while rolling his eyes.

“Now to prove it, take two steps to your right,” she said.

Then a turkey fell from the sky.

“Wow!” Crystal said.

After that, a jellybean popped out! Then another one! The jellybeans were alive. They had the power to recreate anything they were told to do.

“I filled the turkey with jellybeans,” he said, “I made two of them come to life. They have powers to create anything. See? Superpowers.” By the way, the turkey was an astronaut’s lunch. He dropped it.

Master of Fate showed Crystal all his powers: time travel, future predicting, and my favorite… wait, wait, wait. The Master of Fate said, “No, I can’t show you this power. It is far too dangerous.”

A month later, the space center received info that rays have been traveling through the universe, and when they hit things, they disappeared into the void. They suspected the new villain, the shadow shrieker, was behind it. With his ray machine, when the rays hit the things, they did exactly what the info told them.

The Master of Fate went into space and followed the rays. The jellybeans

came with him because of their superpowers. They kept on going until they found the shadow shrieker.

The shadow shrieker said, “Well, well, well… look who we have here. A new superhero who cannot defeat me. I’m going to make everything in the universe go to the void so the universe will be in my control. With this handy ray machine, no one will stop me. Not even YOU!”

“Ha! You think you can stop me? You’re silly,” said the Master of Fate.

The shadow shrieker’s body was black, and only his long eyes and creepy smile were white. He could step into people’s shadows and control their minds. Also, he could teleport to the void and back.

Before the battle, the Master of Fate told the jellybeans to create a clone of himself with superpowers to defeat the shadow shrieker.

During the battle, the shadow shrieker hit the Master of Fate with a ray, and the jellybeans made him again.

Now he could reveal the super dangerous power.

The new Master of Fate shot a ray out of his hands, and it turned the shadow shrieker into black specs.

That sent a signal through the universe, and all technology was busted, all space-bugs exploded, and everyone in the world wondered, what was happening?

Crystal was like, “What is happening? Is it the Master of Fate?” Then she gasped.

And then the Master of Fate flew right into her own backyard, and he pulled out some tickets from his pocket and said, “Here are some tickets for you and your family to go to Hawaii. You’ve had a long day and need a vacation.”

Porter is eight years old. He is from LA, California, and goes to Grand View Elementary School. Porter enjoys reading, and his favorite school subjects are math and science. He has a six-year-old brother named Arlo. He doesn’t have a pet, but he wishes he did.

The Magic Pen

Ikia got hired as a veterinarian in New York. He felt happy. When he left his interview, it started to rain, but it stopped raining for no reason. He was walking in the streets when he heard David. David was Ikia’s biggest hater, and he bullied people in the streets.

Ikia started to shout out, “DAVID!”

David responded annoyed, “What?”

“I better not catch you doing that again!” said Ikia.

David was calling people names like “dumb” and “nerd.” People were mean to David ever since he was in middle school.

Ikia heard thunder and lightning. It struck. He fell on the ground and started shaking. Ikia was confused because he didn’t understand what happened to him. He started to feel weird. Now, he was not Ikia. He became Scribbledo. His hair changed from brownish-blackish to red.

He clipped the pen on his shirt and started to fly. He started to draw a cage in the sky with his secret pen. He grabbed David and put him in his cage in the sky. Everyone was happy because there was no one to bully them. Scribbledo saved the day and he got a reward from the city. He turned back to normal and became Ikia once again. He never turned into Scribbledo ever again. It was forever his favorite memory to remember all of the people he saved.

In 2026, his memory came back after a long time, after six long years.

Robert is in second grade. He is eight years old and likes to play with his dog, Oreo. He has two YouTube channels and posts edits. Robert goes to Grand View Blvd Elementary School.

Five Days of Bad Sleep and Learning About Jesus

First, I prayed to Jesus at home and at church for better sleep. Then, Jesus answered my prayer. The next day, I received the best sleep of my life!

After this experience, I realized that my prayers worked. The next five days, I slept really late. Since I knew my prayer was received, I went to church with my family and prayed for more things. I also go to a Catholic school where I learn all about Jesus. I learned about his birthday, the 10 Commandments, and about his mother, Maria. I pray for food, water, good things, and for my family to be taken care of. And I always thank God for another day to live.

When I started to sleep better, I started to pray. Now I slept way better, so I get more sleep and energy for school because I get to sleep in lately.

I have a test coming up in my Catholic school about Jesus, and then I have to recite a prayer without looking at the paper. I practice at my Catholic school and go to church to learn about Jesus with my family. This May of 2026, I’m going to do my first communion with Kimberly, Monse, and my sister. I go to church two times a week. Also, I love going to church because Jesus is my superhero and he has saved me from everything bad.

The Powerful Hero

One hot morning, it was a normal sunny day, and I was driving on my way to UCLA college. Then I saw an abandoned building that looked old, broken down, and covered in spider webs with dusty floors that caught my attention. I tried to find a secret place to park my car so nobody would see me entering the abandoned place that I saw on my way to my new college. After I parked my car, I secretly tiptoed to the abandoned place to see what was inside. But when I saw the things inside the abandoned place, I was so, so shocked because the stuff inside was floating like magic. I saw a magical spiral lasso, a 3D ice cube, and a floating fire camp.

Then, when I saw the stuff, I was like, ”OMG THEY ARE FLOATING.”

I was curious. I walked over there, and the random stuff inside the abandoned building started coming closer to me, and then got into my body. I started getting my superpowers out of nowhere, and I didn’t even know what was even going to happen to me.

When I saw the floating things, they were glowing, saying, “PICK ME,” in my head and, “I WANT TO BE IN YOUR LIFE.”

Each of them was connected to my brain. There were freezing powers, fire powers, and a lasso. The freezing powers were coming out of my hand when I was mad, like a crystal, and looked like a sphere that was blue and small. The firepower worked by shooting out of my eyes like a big volcano, and looked like a flame with red, pink, and purple all mixed together. It was medium. Because my fire power was smaller than my ice power, this would manipulate any villain because he would think that I have one power, and that it was my ice power. Finally, the last power that I got was a magical lasso that was big, and looked like a spiral with yellow, golden, and orange all mixed. together. It was sparkly, and super duper long. With all of the superpowers combined, it was all-powerful and I used them to protect my family from all the evil.

After all of that experience today, my family and my siblings finally found out that I was a superhero and that I had superpowers. They said, ”You are awesome either way, and we are all so proud of you. We all love you so so much.”

Samantha is eight years old, and she is in third grade. She goes to Grand View Elementary School. She likes to play with her dogs and likes to spend time with her family in her free time. Her favorite book is the Baby Sitters Club and all of the Smile, Guts, and Sisters series. Samantha likes to play kickball, volleyball, handball, and soccer; some basketball in school, and soccer outside of her school. She has won a lot of awards in school assemblies.

Zombie and Willy Santi Ruiz

Once upon a time, Willy was being lazy and eating popcorn. His mom stormed into his room and yelled, “You need to get a j##!”

Then he said, “Don’t cuss. There are kids here.”

Since his mom was mad at him, he signed up for 826LA. Mike introduced him to the program. Mike told him to read a book to get started. Then he saw Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. He told Mike that he wanted to read Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.

Mike said, “Nice! Since you are new, I will give you a Willy Wonka Chocolate Bar.”

Willy said, “Bet!”

He was reading page after page until he finished the first chapter. Mike was so proud. Then Mike gave him a small piece of the chocolate bar. But something about that chocolate bar tasted funny. At first, Willy thought nothing of it.

The next day was a school day, so he went to school. He was in class, about to start. But then he randomly started to fly. Everyone started recording him flying. He started thinking about the flying and then he was coming down. He broke his leg and arm, but didn’t feel any pain.

Later, Willy saw his crush getting bullied by the three strongest people in school, and he remembered what happened in class. He bumped into the strongest one on purpose. The person he “bumped” into said, “Hey, look, it’s the kid that was flying to Nerd Land.”

Everyone started to laugh. Willy got mad and said, “Says the person who peed his pants in sixth grade.”

The bully turned around and tried to punch Willy. Willy thought that he was going to scream in pain. Willy was probably blessed because the bully missed. Then, somehow, Willy was making things move. He grabbed glue and a chair to make the bully sit down. He found out part two of his powers was moving things with his mind.

After school, Willy went home and his house was on fire! His mom was not outside, so he ran inside through the fire looking for his mom. He saw her in bed. He knew he could fly, so without thinking twice, he jumped out

the window. But then tragedy struck. For some reason, he wasn’t able to fly. He didn’t get hurt, but he couldn’t fly.

Soon a group of five-hundred billion zombies and the zombie king came out. Then every army in the world helped Willy. They saw the zombies, and the boss said to all the soldiers, “FIRE!” Willy used his mind powers and took down 0.1 percent of them. The military was doing great because they took down a lot of them. Now there were only one-hundred thousand left. Willy took the rest down with his mind control power.

Santi is in third grade and he can write his name in cursive. He’s been playing basketball since he was five years old. He is Mexican/American. Santi loves his dog.

Me Rambling About Why Rock is Superior

So my superpower (according to me) is my music taste. There are a lot of reasons why I think that rock music is the best music genre.

I don’t care if you think that pop is the best or if you think rap, country, or EDM is the best. I say that rock is superior! I have a bunch of good reasons why I think rock is the best. You Swifties can try to argue with me about why your cult leader, Taylor Swift, is the best.

Anyways, I’m going to stop bragging about why rock is the best and basically give you my origin story.

So it all begins on a pretty normal day. My dad and I were getting food because it was my brother’s birthday. While we were waiting for the food in our car in a parking lot, my dad was telling me about music. While we were talking, he decided to put on some music, and I bet that any dad who is 30 or older will most likely know this song. The name of the song was “Enter Sandman” by Metallica.

At the time, I didn’t know anything about rock. All I knew were a few popular songs like “Sweet Child O’ Mine” by Guns N’ Roses or “Back in Black” by AC/DC, but other than those songs, I didn’t know any other bands or songs.

Now when my dad started playing the song, I thought to myself, “Hmm, this song is pretty good.” Soon after, I started looking for more bangers such as “Master of Puppets,” “Fight Fire With Fire,” and one of Metallica’s finest, Mona Lisa-level albums, Ride the Lightning (not up for debate).

Soon after, I started listening to Metallica any chance I got. And once I got to middle school, my taste got even better because I found peak bands, such as Weezer, System of a Down, and Nirvana!

Some of you guys might wonder why my dad showed me Metallica. Well the reason why was because he just likes rock and wanted to show me. But the thing is, he likes more classic rock like Led Zeppelin and other bands like that.

On an unrelated note, I finally figured out what my superhero name would be. My name is The Procrastinator!

Look, I know rock in general is not for everyone, but there is a rock subgenre for everyone! Like for all of the Taylor Swift cult members, they can try pop rock, or like a small band (that no one has ever heard of) named the Beatles.

Also, for all the seven-to-ten-year-olds who think that rap is tough and gangster, try nu metal like System of Down. But also, there are a lot of words that little kids shouldn’t be hearing. So I’m warning you parents! But I don’t care, do what you want with your kids, okay?

And for all the country listeners who may be living in the countryside, sipping a cold one (soda) on their porches with their partners, you can try country rock. I personally don’t like country rock, but you do you.

Now since I don’t have a lot of time, this is going to be like a lightning round of recommendations. For all you people who like lo-fi, lo-fi rock is your way to go. For EDM, try alternative metal because it is just loud sounds that you party folks like.

So yeah… that’s all I know. I didn’t cover every genre in the whole world, but I don’t care that much, just try indie or alternative if I didn’t cover yours.

To finish this amazing piece of writing, I’m going to say that I don’t care what you say about rock. It is superior to every other genre. Also, I am saying all of these things as a joke, so don’t get mad, okay?

Olive Versus Science (Kinda)

One day, before a field trip to the museum, a duck named Olive got a sheet to do in class while they all waited to leave. It was called a Mad Lib. The teacher said it might feel scary and a little crazy, but it was the ticket to the field trip, so it was important.

Olive wanted to be a tongue-twister inventor or a weird animal breeder. For example, a dog and a dolphin were two of the animals he wanted to breed. While writing with his chewed-up pen, it suddenly started to glow radioactive green. It sounded like a dying dinosaur moaning, and started to yeet itself towards the TEACHER! The chewed-up pen turned into a TY plushie and had the power to turn anything that smelled gross into a dinosaur.

Olive, remembering that there were monsters in the hallway, asked to go to the restroom. The teacher said, “Go quickly.”

The monsters were designed by the mad scientist. He uploaded the monsters that came from the past and creatures that roamed the Earth to his computer. Then he used the monsters or creatures to combine their DNA in order to make new monsters. Take Ooppy Gooey, for instance. He was created by combining Slimiandon (a slime-like insect) and Realdadon (a clilandary-like monster that creates nightmares). The mad scientist also created the mini-subjects (as you’ve heard). He combined a Komodo dragon, a lion, a (house) cat, and sticky radioactive slime to create these unimaginable monsters.

The monsters were coming and coming fast! Olive knew that there was programming in these monsters. But was he right? Yes, he was. They were programmed to destroy everything in sight. He left class to meet the monster/villain Ooppy Goopy. Ooppy Goopy sent a pile of radioactive goop at him, but Olive dodged it. Then Olive attacked with ninja stars and Japanese nunchucks. He felt no regret in making Ooppy Goopy disappear.

Olive yelled, “I AM THE NEW SUPERMAN!” He then ran to the restroom because he would most definitely get in trouble.

When he came back, the teacher said, “Olive, we could see you and hear you through the window. I suppose everyone should applaud Olive since he destroyed the Monster of the West.”

Everyone applauded and yelled, “Olive, THE BIGGEST HERO OF THE WEST!”

“And troublemaker,” the teacher mumbled. “Everyone, I am sorry to say, but the field trip has been canceled due to the weather. Get out your math books.”

“Why, Why!?” Olive thought.

Ring, ring, ring! “Oh, it’s PE time everybody! Let’s go outside!”

The class headed outside to the yard. They ran a mile outside in the dreadful sun.

“Hmm? Oh great! Another monster!?” Olive mumbled.

One mile later…

School was over, and everyone got picked up except Olive, because he typically walked. He did not live far, just one street over. Instead of going home, he went to face the monster. He teleported with the TY from earlier.

“Huh? Oh great. Wait, what?! Is that a Naikamaa???” Olive thought.

The Naikamaa saw something tasty, “TREEEAAATTTT!”

“Well, that was easy,” Olive said after easily defeating the monster.

Then Olive entered this mysterious place.

“Well now, why are you here, how are—” exclaimed the scientist.

“Shut your mouth, 20 questions!”

“Fine, but get OUT!”

“Who are you? An old man in a Halloween lab coat costume?”

“Well, that’s not nice.”

“Too bad, I’m going to leave you out of this.”

The mad scientist started to release some monstrous animals. They had the face of a Komodo dragon, the claws of a lion, the fur of a cat, and a body of sticky slime. Olive’s powers kicked in. You see, his father was an inventor, and before he died fighting monsters, he left Olive a device—an earbud-looking thing. It had the power to detect every monster nearby.

Anyways, Olive got the remaining ninja stars and Japanese nunchucks and threw them, getting three hits. One of the monsters dissolved. Seeing

what happened, Olive realized he could now reuse his ninja stars. When he defeated the monsters, he lunged for the scientist.

The mad scientist yelled, “Get OFF of me you miscreant!” but Olive did not budge. He karate kicked the mad scientist. The mad scientist landed in his monster car and it locked.

The “water” seeped in quickly. The mad scientist yelled, “I WILL BE BACK! YOU WILL BE SORRY!” and he dissolved in the toxic waste-like “water.”

Olive then karate kicked the monster-making machine 50 times and almost broke his leg.

Five years later…

Olive walked into the building that once belonged to the mad scientist. He knelt on one knee next to his son and said to his Pepperoni, “Son, look. What do you see?”

“I see a broken machine.”

“I defeated the mad scientist.”

Olive opened a case, “Son, I want to give you something my father gave me.”

Stranger Things Sky F.

It was 7:30 AM in the U.S.

Beep, beep, beep.

“Oh shoot,” said Monse, “I’m late for my flight.” Then two hours passed.

“OMG,” said Monse, “I FINALLY MADE IT. I need a bathroom.”

As Monse ran to the bathroom, she heard someone singing a song inside, “Let’s go back to Indiana circa 1983. Just four boys in the basement chilling, playing DND. There was Lucas, there was Willy Will, and Dustin. There was Mike, but one night Will goes missing while riding on his bike. That’s when they met Elev. I had no hair on my head. I had been so close to death because Dr. Brenner had been hunting me 24/7.” Monse knocked on the door.

“Excuse me,” Monse said.

“Oh, umm, occupied,” Sky said.

Open the door,” Monse said, opening the door with her mind.

“Chill, I was just watching my hands.” Then another stranger came along.

“Hey you, let me see that tattoo.”

“Umm, who?” Both the stranger and Sky said.

“Both of you.”

“Umm, okay.”

“Hey, we’re siblings from Papa’s lab.”

“Wait, really?” Sky and the stranger said.

“Yeah!” So each one of them introduced themselves. It was Sky, Monse, and 67. Then suddenly, they remembered their old sibling Vecna, and how Vecna betrayed them. They couldn’t get over what he did to them. Vecna was making their siblings suffer severe pain. So, Monse, Sky, and 67 made a plan to defeat him. So they went to the Upside Down to defeat Vecna. All of them went to the old Hawkins Lab, where Papa took tests on the

children. Papa wanted a child with powers so he could change the world. As they went inside the lab, they saw a black hole; it was like a blackout. It was slimy and crunchy. As soon as they walked inside the black hole, they saw their sibling, Vecna. As they walked up to Vecna, they fought him. As 67, Sky, and Monse fought Vecna, they realized that the only way they could defeat Vecna was by closing the black hole with them inside. As they sacrificed themselves, their last words were, “We are not horses, we’re humans and humans are…” BLACKOUT.

The Superheroes Bros

One day in Florida, Yahir and his brother, Yadiel, went to drive a lot because they wanted to. They drove through a park, a store, a mall, and McDonald’s. On their way home, it was starting to get dark, so they drove really fast and got there. They got inside, looked at a random pencil on the counter because it caught their attention, brushed their teeth, and went to bed.

“Wait! The spirits might come, because if you don’t pray, something bad will happen,” Yahir said. He prayed, but his brother Yadiel did not pray because he fell asleep fast.

Yahir woke up and said good morning to his parents. “This is not real life,” Yahir said, “I saw my brother Yadiel flying outside in the street!” Yahir told his parents, “We must follow him.”

Before his mom, Cynthia, went to the gas station, Yahir and his dad, Fidencio, started running really fast. Yahir stopped and told his dad Fidencio, “What if my brother Yadiel flew to Orlando, Florida? But what if he disappears?”

Yahir’s dad Fidencio, said, “That will not happen.”

But when they stopped talking, Yahir’s brother Yadiel started flying to the mall. While they were running, Yahir told his dad Fidencio, “Wait, what if it’s almost dark?”

Yahir and his dad Fidenco went to sleep and did not pray. They ran home really fast and went to sleep. “Wait,” Yahir said, “we must talk to God about this.” So Yahir said, “We are sorry, but we have to do this for you and us.”

They went to bed, and on the next day, Yahir said, “Someone left us a note.”

Yahir’s dad Fidencio said, “This note might be from God.”

Yahir started to read it, and it said, “Yahir’s superpower is teleportation, and his dad Fidencio’s superpower is also teleportation.”

So they said, “How are we gonna find Yadiel?”

“Well, I can see if the news reporters are talking on the TV about something crazy happening.”

So they turned on the TV and it said, “There is someone with superpowers at the mall in Orlando, Florida.”

Yahir said, “That must be my brother Yadiel on TV,” so they teleported to the mall that was on the TV. They found Yadiel with superpowers and they saw a dinosaur.

The dinosaur said, “Hello.”

Yahir and Fidencio said, “It’s cool you can talk, but we must get Yadiel with superpowers.” They told the dinosaur, “Could you give us a ride?”

The dinosaur said, “Ok.” They got on and said they must follow Yadiel with superpowers. The dinosaur started running and they caught up to Yadiel. Yahir and Fidencio got off the dinosaur, and the dinosaur left. They said goodbye, and got Yadiel.

Yahir looked at him and said, “This is not Yadiel, this is a robot human.” Yahir then said, “Where is my real brother Yadiel? We must find him.”

They teleported to almost every place. They teleported to the store, the park, and the mall, but Yahir and Fidencio never found Yadiel. Yahir said, “I bet Yadiel must be really sad that he does not have us.”

“Wait,” Yahir said, “I hope that you’re not a robot.” Yahir looked at his dad Fidencio’s face. “You are a robot!!!

“Also, I hope my mom Cynthia is not a robot,” Yahir said. He was sad. “I am by myself and Yadiel has no company.”

Yahir teleported to a McDonald’s playplace and saw his brother Yadiel. Yahir was so happy and gave Yadiel a big, big, big hug with joy. Then Yadiel gave Yahir a big, big, big hug. Yahir told his brother Yadiel, “Finally, I found you, and we must find the others.”

He told his brother Yadiel that there was a robot that looked like him. Yahir

said, “The robot has powers and I have teleportation.” Yahir continued, “I will give you a piggyback ride so get on my back.”

They teleported to their house and saw their dad Fidencio. They gave their dad a big, big, big hug, and they said, ”We just have to find one more person, our mom Cynthia.”

Yahir, Yadiel, and Fidencio teleported to Venice High School in California. They waited for Cynthia in the office, where Yahir, Yadiel, and Fidencio found Cynthia. Yahir said, “Let’s go, we found everybody, and now we don’t have to look for anybody.”

However, they saw a portal, and Yahir’s brother Yadiel said, “Let’s go in.” So all of them went inside.

When all of them went inside, Yahir and Yadiel said, “This must be paradise.” It had everything—a pool and a free hotel. All of them went to the hotel and to the pool, and did more stuff . They liked it so much.

Yahir is nine years old. Yahir goes to school at Grandview Elementary School and is in third grade. Yahir likes to play hide-and-seek with his brothers. The names of Yahir’s brothers are Yosias, Yadial, and Yerati. Yahir was born in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, California. Yahir is from El Salvador and Guatemala.

While Zion was grinding Forsaken, his friend messaged him if he wanted to go rock climbing, and Zion said, “Sure!”

During rock climbing, he found a cave and decided to explore it. While exploring, he went too deep into the cave and found a mysterious black crystal. He grabbed it. Then he felt weird, and the rocks below him collapsed, but he felt something, and that was dark matter. So after thinking, what just happened? He finally realized that he had absorbed the black matter. He went back to the surface and used the dark matter. He can now see random images. He goes back home and goes straight to sleep.

The next day, he goes to school and sits in the classroom. Then, he sees a shadow walk across the room. He asks the teacher, “Can I go to the restroom?” and sneaks off to follow the figure.

As he turns the hallway, he comes face-to-face with it and sees that it’s a mechanical spider. Using his dark matter, he creates a solid barrier around the spider.

As Zion jumps on the spider, he makes a knife from dark matter and cuts the mechanical spider’s power, then he sees the logo. “An octopus?” He thought. So, when he got home, he searched for a company that uses an octopus as a logo, and it said no.

“Hmmm,” he said, and he remembered that he had put the robot spider outside. He peeks outside, but the spider is running away, so he runs out of his house to chase it down. Then he caught up, but it went underwater, so he had to think fast. He made a diving helmet out of his dark matter. Then he chased after it, and then he saw the biggest underwater base ever.

“What is that?” he said.

He got closer to the entrance. “A code?” he said.

He looked through the glass and saw a paper: Make your own code. So, Zion used the most basic code, 6741, and entered.

Before he could continue, the water in the area was drained out. Then he entered, but he had to stay out of sight, so he hid behind machines. He entered the power room, and in the middle was a crystal that was powering the place. Then he heard footsteps, so he hid behind the thing that was holding the crystal.

“Hmm, good. It’s running,” someone said.

“Phew!” Zion said, then he went to grab it, and the power went out.

He had to get out, but the light from the crystal gave him away, so he made a blanket with his dark matter to block the light. He ran out, opened the door, put on his diving helmet, swam out, and went to the surface in the morning. He woke up to the sound of thuds! BOOM BOOM.

Alexander is ten years old. He lives in California and is in fifth grade. He wants to be a YouTuber. Their favorite food is stuffed-crust pizza. His favorite colors are red and black. His favorite game is Forsaken.

Battle of Two Forest

Atticus Allison

Finx is leading an assault in the dark side of the forest. Finx is leading a small ambush troop of ten focused fairies, as tall as your pinkie. They are sneaking through a hidden tunnel under a rock to get to the river. They want to get water back to their home on the light side of the forest.

A couple of things you need to know about Finx before we continue. Finx is a fairy about the size of your fourth finger–very tall for a fairy. This fairy is the most skilled at flying and has wings of a sphinx, like an eagle, but other fairies are more like a butterfly. Finx is skinny and is wearing his leather set of armor. He has a sword, a bow and arrow, and a slingshot. He is thirteen years old.

“Halt! There’s something off!” Finx commanded. “I think I hear footsteps in the tunnel.”

A mysterious voice says, “Surrender or else!’

“No!” Finx shouts and shoots a sling-stone in the direction of the voice. The sling stone comes flying back.

Finx says, “What?!”

“Chain mad!” Chain steps into the torchlight.

Chain looks like the biggest fairy of all, as big as your middle finger. Chain wears spiky armor. His weapon is a spiky ball on top of a stick. Chain swings the weapon around, and suddenly, the ball shoots out on a chain and lands right in front of Finx.

Finx says, “Launch!!” and a rain of arrows lands on Chain.

He tugs the chain, and the ball comes back to him. Only two arrows hit Chain, and they were stuck in his armor. Chain takes out a pipe and blows out of it. The ball grows two times its size. He hits the roof of the cave, and a jagged rock hits Finx and makes a scratch around his eye.

One of the fairies shouts, “Water!” and sure enough, there is a little trickle of water.

Finx grabs his catapult, puts the rock in the catapult, and launches it at Chain. Chain moves back into the tunnel. He turns his back and runs away. The fairies collect the water and move quickly back up the tunnel.

Finx says, “Let’s set up camp and sleep tonight.”

Atticus is nine. He is in third grade. His birthday is in February. When he grows up, he wants to be a robot. His favorite food is sushi. His favorite color is gold.

All About My Cousin Sebastian

Aydren A.

An unlikely hero is my cousin Sebastian, because he grabs stuff for me and helps me carry bags. He became a hero when he grew up and got strong enough to carry bags. Before he was strong, his mom would help him carry all the bags, and that was super hard for her.

When he grew up, he was able to help himself and me, so that she could rest. Without him, it’s harder to carry everything myself. If he weren’t my cousin, then little Aryanna would have to help carry the heavy bags. Sebastian and I also play together. We play Roblox, and sometimes we play outside.

Aydren likes to eat pizza. Aydren wants to be an astronaut to visit Mars. He likes to play Steal a Brainrot.

Daniella and Burgers

There once was a superhero named Daniella in college. She was nineteen years old and always wore a light pink sparkly dress.

One day, she was at the park with her minions. The minions wore light pink sparkly short dresses. Suddenly, she saw a bad guy stealing the ice cream man’s merchandise and money with his weird, funny-looking plastic bubble wand.

She started throwing apple pies at the bad guy to make him blind, but Daniella couldn’t catch up. He was too fast.

As he was running away, he said, “Hahaha, you can’t catch me.”

Daniella started getting mad, so she kept throwing apple pies until she got him. The bad guy got mad when Daniella hit him.

He got up from the floor and tried to walk, but he couldn’t see. Daniella’s minions popped out of Daniella’s backpack and started throwing hamburgers to make the bad guy even more blind.

As Daniella ran away with her minions, she looked back at the bad guy

just in case he was doing something bad. When she turned around, she saw the bad guy eating all the hamburgers.

Daniella G. is eight years old and in third grade. She lives in Los Angeles and does gymnastics as a sport. She has a little brother and two pets. Her favorite subject in school is math. She hopes to go to Funbox, a huge bouncy house, soon!

Diego the Superhero Diego Iduarte

Once upon a time, there was a teenager named Diego. He got his superpowers when he made a machine of superpowers. He made a diamond wrist chain. When he throws the chain on the ground, he gets his superpowers. When he’s done using his superpowers, he will use his watch to connect the chain back. It took him one year to make the machine. When he uses his superpowers, his body starts to feel more energy in his veins. He feels like he could pick up a truck if he wants to, and he could fly. He keeps his powers secret so people don’t crowd him.

His villain is called the Green Guy. His villain is a green guy with four eyes and is skinny. His villain is the person who kept bullying him. So his bully turned like that because he wanted to control the whole world. His bully also doesn’t like him because he thinks he looks ugly and dumb.

At ten in the morning, Diego the superhero was awake and just couldn’t stop thinking if people were okay because he wanted to save them. So he put on his suit, then he went up in the sky to see what was happening. Then he saw the bridge was about to crash because a ship was crossing. He saw people in cars screaming for help.

He saw the firefighters trying to help, so then he helped and dropped his chain. He then was able to pick cars up, helped the firefighters and everybody started cheering. But when he finished, Diego the superhero left, so people didn’t know. People got confused, and rumors spread. He was on the news, and people were telling other people, who could that be? When he goes out in public, he puts on his outfit, trying to look normal to go get groceries, but some people saw a little bit of his face.

Some people stop him and say, “You look familiar.”

Then he tries not to sweat and not be suspicious.

He tells them, “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

People respond, “I don’t know you, but you do look familiar. Well, it’s okay, have a good day.”

Although Diego the superhero did not reveal his identity, his biggest fear almost ended him.

Diego likes Supreme. He is a streetwear lover. He loves baseball. He likes Canes. He loves LA. He is in fourth grade and goes to Gabriela Charter. He plays baseball and wants to be an MLB player when he grows up. He is ten.

Someone in my life named Diana Garcia is my hero. She is my mama. She raised me, my sisters, and my brother. My mom cooks, cleans, and works all night. My favorite food that she makes is chicken salad. My mama is from three different countries, and all of them are beautiful. The three countries are Honduras, El Salvador, and Guatemala. She speaks English and Spanish. She works all day for me as the boss of roofing. My mama is very important in her job. I love my mom.

The Very Very Ancient Tale of Super Kitty Henry F.

In New York City, Abby the Cat was walking around her apartment when a fly flew in, and what it did changed her life forever. It bit her DUN DUN DUN!

One winter day, Abby saw that the window was open and felt the need to go outside. A few minutes later, she found herself soaring through the city, absolutely STUNNED that she was flying. She saw white stuff on the ground and a group of people talking about a big snowstorm. Abby figured the white stuff was snow. Then she remembered the fly, and from that moment on, she was Super Kitty, and when she was airborne, her blue cape caught the air.

Super Kitty had laser eyes, and she could fly. While she was flying over the city, she saw a dog with a zapper strapped on his back. It was zapping people, and then they turned into walking human potatoes! Super Kitty was amazed. How could people become upright, walking potatoes?

What Super Kitty didn’t know was that Doctor Doggie, this ghastly dog’s name, roamed the city with a zapper on his upper back. He developed the potato zapper in his underground robot factory. When his cyborg eye focused on a person, Doctor Doggie activated his zapper by wagging his tail, and the person turned into a human potato, standing upright on his legs!

Super Kitty focused her eyes on the zapper and saw that there was a reverse button. She zoomed down and landed on the button. The potatoes immediately became human!!!

Super Kitty looked at Doctor Doggie and said, “You’ve been a bad doggie,” and she lasered him with her eyes. Doggie Go Boom!!

Henry F. is almost eight. He likes laser tag and wants a pet lizard, but has no pets. He is in second grade and loves school.

I Love Ms. B Jane M.

Ms. B is my hero because she lets us watch movies in class. Ms. B is my second-grade teacher. She has light brown hair and wears colorful clothes, colorful shoes, and the same ring every day.

Currently, she reads aloud, Wings of Fire, which is about dragonettes that are kept in a cave waiting for a prophecy to be fulfilled. Adventures happen, and my favorite character is Clay, who is a mudwing. A mudwing is a dragon who likes the mud. She reads the story with a lot of expression, which makes it so fun to listen to.

When Ms. B was a teenager, she dyed her hair purple, and then dyed it back to her regular hair color. She and her friends made a movie called The Revenge of Fido. The movie was really bloody because it was about a dog that got hit by a car, and the owner of the dog takes revenge by killing people.

Ms. B works really hard. She has 21 students. She helps us learn a lot. Every year, she makes a movie with her students. One of the movies was about two puppets named Tony and Snowball, who got lost and ended up in the teacher’s lounge eating donuts.

Ms. B lets us decide what we want to be. I would like to be a detective in the next film because I want to solve mysteries. She also buys toys for us, like erasers shaped like frogs, to reward us for not talking in the library and for being helpful.

Ms. B is my hero because she’s really funny, nice, very creative, and also helpful.

There was a guy named Guy who was blind and lived in Los Angeles. One day, he was walking, and he smelled something sweet. Since he’s blind, he didn’t see that he ate a radioactive M&M. After his mom and dad went to a restaurant, and there was a spy, he served them food, but not just any food. It was poisonous food.

His mom and dad didn’t notice that the food they ate was poison. Sadly, his mom and dad died because of the poisoned food. When Guy went home, he watched the news and couldn’t believe that his parents had died, and it was caused by the spy! He noticed that his powers reacted, and he wanted to be a superhero because he wanted to save people.

From then on, he became Guyalisa! He wanted to save people and also the Earth. One day, he just came from fighting villains, and when he came back home, he just had a flashback! The flashback was about his lonely and boring childhood at recess, when one of the staff turned into a mutant lizard. Guy’s head started to hurt every time he got closer to the mutant lizard, but in the scary flashback, the mutant lizard came closer and a little closer. The mutant lizard started to chase Guy, and suddenly died in the big and scary flashback.

After the scary flashbacks, he heard a big explosion that destroyed a chocolate mansion, which was caused by the chocolate man. Guyalisa decided to fight with the chocolate man! The fight started, and Chocolate Man used his chocolate cannon. Guyalisa snapped his finger and made Chocolate Man explode, but that was not very effective. He snapped his fingers again, and poison darts appeared. The poison darts started to point out Chocolate Man, and Chocolate Man was blasted into the nearest apartment.

Through the smoke, he saw the Weekend, who is classified as the spy who killed his parents. After Guyalisa won the battle and saw the Weekend picking up Chocolate Man, that is the Weekend’s alley. After the fight with the chocolate man, he went to his home. He saw his pet dog Hatchi, and went to sleep in his fancy bed, and he rested.

The next day, the US president called Guy.

Guy answered the call, and the US president said, “Guy, the Weekend/the spy and his mafia gang are going to attack Los Angeles. I expect you to defeat him in about 48 hours. Oh, Guy, and I have to remind you that he has a nuke and rocket launchers, so that’s all for now, Guy, bye!”

Next, Guy thought to himself, “Do I want to fight the Weekend? Yes! I should fight them all by myself with my stash of weapons and Japanese swords in my dark cave under my house.”

Guy gathered his strong weapons in his cave, and once he got outside, there was chaos caused by the Weekend and his mafia gang! Guyalisa was ready to fight, but he noticed he was outnumbered by 5,002 villains! But, recently, he got a new power. When he snaps, he can think of anything, and it will come alive. Back to the story, the mafia gang charged at Guyalisa, and when he snapped his fingers, nukes popped up in thin air! After the nuke wiped out five thousand people. Can you believe that?! Chocolate Man fired his chocolate blast at Guyalisa, but instead, a young lady got hurt! Guyalisa hid her in one of the broken buildings. Soon, he defeated Chocolate Man with one thousand punches.

After the defeat of Chocolate Man, the Weekend was the only one left from his gang.

Next, the Weekend said, “You want the young lady to DIE!?”

“No, sir,” Guyalisa replied.

After that, the Weekend hit the young lady really hard. Finally, Guyalisa secretly had a little crush on the young lady. Eventually, Guyalisa stored up all of his energy and made a mega punch at the Weekend. Next, the Weekend got knocked out! Finally, he saved the young lady, and the young lady kissed Guyalisa.

The young lady said, “You’re so hot!”

Eventually, they got married four years later and lived happily ever after! Also, the young lady’s name is Jennifer.

The Genie and The Girl

Kali is a funny, smart eight-year-old girl who lives in Los Angeles and lives in a pale yellow house. One day, Kali was with her brother, Garland, cooking pizza. It was summertime, so she put on her favorite pink summer dress and magical cowboy boots.

Her mom suddenly came rushing downstairs. “Can you please get the lamp from the attic?”

“Yes,” Kali says to her Mom.

Kali rushes upstairs, goes into the attic, and hears some shoving from the lamp and a voice saying, “Get me out of here!”

Kali says, “Helloooo?”

“I’m a genie, I’m in here, in the lamp!”

In fear, Kali screams.

“Stop screaming, you’re hurting my ears,” says the genie.

Kali continues to scream, and at the same time, she’s running around the attic,

“AHHHH!!”

Until, the genie puts his hand on her face and makes his eyes wide, “Be quiet…”

Kali pauses and calmly asks, “Why are you here?”

The genie says, “I’m here to protect you from an evil mad scientist mosquito! He turns people into mini motorcycles.”

Kali questions, “Why? I don’t believe you!”

“Okay, don’t say I didn’t warn you,” said the genie.

Kali goes downstairs, like nothing happened. When Kali goes downstairs, she sees her mom and brother turned into mini motorcycles. Then, she sees the mosquito, and he is swinging his tiny lasso. He hands Kali a human-sized lasso.

“Let’s fight!” says the evil mosquito. He lends Kali a motorcycle too.

The fight begins, and the mosquito swings his lasso, catching Kali.

Then, she asks, “Can I breathe?”

Then, Kali bursts out of the lasso, and she feels her superpower in that very moment. Then, suddenly, she teleports to his secret lab. In his lab, she tries to make a potion that would save the city from the mosquito. But she feels like she’s missing something.

She is stuck, but then, she screams, “Geeenieee!!”

The genie comes, and when he sees Kali, he is crying in his pajamas, with a slice of pizza in his hand.

He says, “Now you want me?”

Kali says, “Yeah…”

“Well, I’m not going to do it.”

Kali gives him puppy eyes, and he says, “FINE!”

The genie confidently says, “I know what to do!”

The genie goes right to work in the lab. He pours thingmabobers into a container to make the potion, and he invites Kali, “Come on, help me!”

Kali is confused, “I don’t know what anything is.”

“Ok, I’ll just do it by myself!” says the genie.

He continues working hard.

The mosquito is setting up a plan, and he wants to rule the world, while Kali and Genie want to save the world. The mosquito plans to have an army of mini motorcycles that turn the people in the city into mini motorcycles too. But the mosquito thinks ahead and goes looking for Kali and Genie. He finds them working in his lab! The mosquito surprises the genie with a sleeping potion that he tosses to the ground, and it breaks, making the genie fall asleep right away. Kali runs off and hides in a box in the lab.

Then, the mosquito says, “Come out, come out, wherever you are.”

The mosquito gets distracted because the mini motorcycles fall over and cry outside of his lab. He speeds out, trying to see what happened. Kali

teleports out of the lab with the potion. She spreads the potion everywhere and teleports into everybody’s house and puts it into their drinks. They all drink and change back into humans. Now, Kali lives a normal life, but she has a genie friend by her side.

Kali is eight years old, and she has a brother named Garland. She likes to hang out with her family, like her mom. She likes to hang out with her mom and go to parties with her

Cool Guy Versus John Pork

Cool Guy got his power at four years old. Now he’s 28. One day, while at the hospital, he hears shooting. He runs outside and sees John Pork hurting people. They have an epic battle, where Cool Guy uses his powers of teleportation to win the fight. But he does not know that John Pork has so many lives. John Pork comes back to life and comes back to choke Cool Guy. Cool Guy uses telekinesis to move John Pork out of the way. The police shoot John Pork, but it does not work because John Pork is immortal. Cool Guy takes the children back inside the hospital, where the doctors protect the kids.

Cool Guy drinks the potion and becomes a god. He does not want to do it because he would hurt John Pork, and he does not like hurting people. John Pork has 564 lives, and Cool Guy only has two. Cool Guy tries to send him to another country that’s far away, like the North Pole. John Pork is outside the hospital looking for more people. John Pork feels thirsty, and he wants a drink. Then, Cool Guy hears that and he uses telekinesis to move the potion and tease John Pork. But then John Pork gets the potion, and he drinks it. He starts feeling dizzy and falls to the ground.

Cool Guy goes back and finds John Pork on the ground. He uses his brain to open a portal. Cool guy gets really strong and takes John Pork’s foot and tosses him into the portal. When John Pork wakes up, the portal closes, and he’s stuck at the North Pole surrounded by deadly animals. John Pork is in big trouble.

Cool Guy goes back to the hospital, and when he returns, there is a celebration. It’s loud and crazy.

People shout, “John Pork’s gone!”

Kevin I. is ten years old and lives in Echo Park in an apartment. The apartment is an assortment of white, gray, and red. His favorite dogs are German Shepherds and American Bulldogs, and he owns a German Shepherd named Charlie. He likes to play Roblox, Fortnite, Fallout, and Spiderman 2.

Super Wild Story

My dad is a doctor who is brave, kind, and smart. One day, he was working at the hospital when he spilled a bubbly fluid on himself, and he didn’t know what kind of fluid it was. He got stronger and stronger and Pew! Pew! Pew! Pew! He had laser eyes! HE FELT BETTER THAN EVER!!! He felt so strong that he could pick up the Statue of Liberty! He wanted to keep it a secret because his kids could not hear such a thing, or else they would make him carry them a thousand times! The day after, he watched the news, and what he saw shocked him.

“Breaking news! There’s a swarm of a trillion koalas. They are coming to town, and they are very violent!!!”

He threw the remote behind him and stood up and said, “Not on my watch!”

He slammed the door open and said, “Hey, you koalas! You can’t destroy Boyle Heights!”

He put on his shirt and took off his mustache so no one would know that he was super strong. He tried to use his laser eyes to shoot the spaceship, but he kept missing. Luckily, he had a backup plan. He used his super strength to pick up a weight that is a thousand pounds! He threw it at the ships, and when it hit them, the ships exploded!

My dad started yelling, “Yeah! Yoo Hoo!” But the koalas survived by flying down with their palm tree leaves! He had defeated one ship, but now there were 999,999,999,999 koalas left to destroy. He had no choice but to tell his family.

He walked up to his family at their home.

They saw him, and he said, “Guys, I have superpowers.”

“Prove it. Lift the couch,” I said.

“Sure.” He lifted the couch with one hand.

I said, “WHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATTTTTTTTTTTTT!!!!! Wait, let me get this straight. So you have superpowers?! Can I have a superpower?”

“Yeah, me too,” my brother said.

“Okay, everyone choose a superpower.”

I chose bubble power, my sister chose super smart, my brother chose super gravity, and my mom chose noodle powers. My dad got more bubbly fluid, then he brought out his wand, tapped the fluid three times, and poof! The bubbly fluid splattered all over us, and we got our powers. Together, we trapped the koalas with a cage made of wires, but the koalas started fighting back by chewing the wires. So I stopped them by shooting them with my bubble gun, and my mom used a noodle rope to lasso the cage. My dad’s laser eyes zapped the koalas, and the koalas teleported to Brazil.

Everyone in the neighborhood celebrated by having a party in the middle of Boyle Heights. There was confetti, cake, and lots and lots and lots and lots of pizza. And everyone was singing and dancing.

Wild Fires

Joshua was a normal college student. He also had a dream of being a firefighter. He got really good grades. He got his dream job. Then his family congratulated him for his accomplishments. His first day on the job went well, and he saved lives. He is a nice, tall, good person.

Then one day, he woke up, and his phone was ringing. He picked up the phone, and his boss said, “Go to work, it’s urgent.” Then he went, and somebody called and said there were big fires. He suited up and went to the smoke.

He went to the fire with his team, and they rushed as fast as they could. Then they saved the animals, and then they needed to beat the fire. It was big, and the fire was spreading a lot. They needed a big splash from a plane. The plane arrived 20 minutes later and covered a lot of ground, so they had to move to a new spot.

Then they found a good spot, until somebody thought about the animals out there. Then Joshua said, “We need to save animals.” They forgot all of them. They saved 26 for now. Then they saved 226 in 25 days. They kept saving more and more, saving 638. Then they heard a really big roar. They followed the noise and saw a family of lions. They couldn’t find a way in. They called a helicopter with a lot of water. It went well, and they found a way in. They managed to get the family out. They saved the last of all the animals. Then Joshua’s new problem was finding a home for all the animals.

My Life Called Chaos Scout R.

Ever since I was four, I have had powers. I can change the channel with one blink, and I can make electricity go out. I don’t know how, but my mom, Ms. Blue, told me, “It’s a gift!” and I think my brother, Jordan, is jealous. Let me get back to the important stuff. One night, I was home alone because Mom and Dad went on a date, and Jordan went to the movies with his friends. I was just playing my guitar, and suddenly, the lights went out.

Suddenly, a hand grabbed me and pulled me into a portal.

I said, “What the heck!”

I woke up in a greenhouse with two girls looking at me.

One of them said, “Hello!”

I could tell they were twins. One was very bubbly, and one was stiff as a stone.

The bubbly one said, “We are so sorry that we kidnapped you.”

“No, we are not,” said the stiff one, “Why are you so nice? We are trying to make Diana pay.”

I stared at her.

She gave me the stinky eye and said, “What are you looking at?”

I quickly looked away.

She rolled her eyes, “My name is Ivy, and this is Kit.” She pointed to her sister. “What’s your name?”

“My name is Cat,” I said.

“We need to save London before it’s too late!” Kit said.

“WHAT!” I yelled.

I could tell it was loud because Ivy and Kit looked at me like I was crazy.

“Why does it have to be me?” I said.

They looked at each other and then looked at me. “Because you have powers,” Ivy said, looking at me like I was born yesterday.

“How do you know that?” I said.

“We can tell you have powers because you have the mark.” I thought it was just a cool birthmark.

“So do you guys have powers?” I asked.

“Yes, I can make portals, and Ivy has plant powers,” Kit said.

“So, are you in?” said Ivy.

“I’m in,” I said.

That night, we were walking to Diana’s secret lair. While we were walking, I ran to Kit.

“Hey! So why are we trying to make Diana pay?” I asked.

“Well, she did try to take Ivy’s and my powers,” she said calmly.

“OH!” I said nervously. OMG! She might sell my powers! I thought. “Wait, so are we in London?” I asked.

“Yes! Why are you asking me so many questions?” Kit said.

“Because Ivy will get mad if I ask her,” I said.

“Well, we’re here,” said Ivy, interrupting our conversation.

The building looked like it had 16 floors. It was hot pink with a big ‘D’ on it.

“Oh my!” I said with an amazed look on my face. Kit made a portal, and we went in. We were on the last floor, and it was dark and creepy.

“Hello?” Ivy said.

We looked around to the left and to the right, “Hello?” Kit said, and then I heard a scream, and Kit was gone. I heard another scream, and Ivy was gone, and then I passed out.

I woke up in a jar, all by myself. “Where am I?” I yelled, and guess who pops up, Diana! I knew it was her because she looked just like the girl named Diana at my school.

“Hi. I’ve been waiting,” Diana said with a gruesome smile.

“I can’t believe that you are the one and only Cat Blue, the one with a hot brother,” she said.

I knew she was pretty, rich, and popular. I also knew that with that power, she could get a boyfriend like that.

“Why are you doing this? Are you trying to steal my power?” I said, terrified.

“No, duh!” Diana told me like I was dumb.

“Well, Jordan is outside,” I said.

Panicking, “Are you serious?” She said and dashed out the door. While she was running, she said, “I’m coming, Jordan!”

I waited until she left, and I stepped back and broke the jar with one ZAP! I ran to the first floor, where I found Ivy and Kit waiting for me.

“Where were you?” Ivy asked.

“Where were you guys?” I said, then collapsed to the floor.

I woke up, and I saw a little girl who looked just like me. Is this a memory, I thought. The girl was with her mom and dad. They looked just like my real mom and dad; they were at an aquarium. They were watching the whales swim in the water, “Look at the whales!” The little girl said.

“Wake up, Cat!” Kit said.

I blinked twice, and the memory was gone.

“We’re home,” Ivy said.

I was near my front lawn.

“What happened?” I said.

“You passed out,” Kit said.

“Hey, you did a good job on your first fight,” Ivy said.

“Oh, and I made you this!” Ivy pulled out a little succulent.

“Thanks!” I said, and Ivy blushed.

“Well, you’d better go home now,” Ivy said.

Two weeks later. I was in my room, and Jordan came in.

“Hey sis, I want you to meet my girlfriend,” Jordan said. She came into the room, “Cat, meet Diana, Diana meet Cat.”

“Hi, Cat, I’ve heard so much about you,” Diana said.

Scout Reese lives in LA with her mom and dad. Scout likes to play Ultimate Frisbee with her friend and play Knockout, which is a game on Roblox. When the week ends, they go to YADA to rehearse. Scout is in fifth grade. In their free time, they like to watch Anime. When they grow up, they want to be an author and an actor.

My cousin Aydren is my hero because he is cool and super kind to me. I like him, and he’s fantastic. He likes to play tag with me and shares his hot chips.

One day, I was playing tag with Aydren, and I started running fast. I was trying to catch him. He was moving quickly and was too fast for me to catch.

He kept saying, “You can’t catch me.”

I kept chasing him, but he was too fast.

In the end, he said, “Good game!”

We went inside and played with toy dinosaurs.

We both said, “ROAR!”

Playing with him is fun. I knew I wanted to catch him one day.

The next time Aydren and I played tag, I was going to try to catch him. He ran really fast that day, and I told him, “I’m gonna catch you!” I did, and he was happy for me.

But then, he had to go home, and I was sad. I told my mom I wanted to play some more. “Ten more minutes!” I begged.

She said, “Sure.”

I ran off and played tag with Aydren.

He’s my best friend. Sometimes we play hide and seek, but he can find me when I am hiding under the bed. Other times we eat together, like pizza and Taco Bell, and I get the Doritos Locos and spend 10 dollars. We also play video games like Fortnite, and my cousin is good at doing the griddy.

Sebastian Hernandez is eight years old and is in kindergarten. He is from Los Angeles. One day, when he grows up, he wants to drive fast cars and be a mechanic. For now, he likes to play tag and play with his toys. He enjoys eating pizza and pasta. Blue is his favorite color. His favorite animal is an elephant. He dreams of driving a red Lamborghini in the desert.

The Invisible Man

Once upon a time, a man named Invisible lived in a small town called Venice, California. Although much of Venice was quite wealthy, Invisible lived on a small boat moored in the Ocean. Invisible wasn’t this man’s original name. His name was Jack, and four years ago, while on an exploring trip with some college friends in the Amazon jungle, he was accidentally bitten by a chameleon that fell out of a tree onto his head. Jack quickly brushed it away and continued the adventure with his buddies.

One night, back home, while sitting on the sofa and watching TV, Jack suddenly realized his arm seemed to have disappeared, and the remote looked like it was floating! Jack ran to the bathroom and squinted at the mirror. His face was gone!! Scared, he raced to the phone and called each of his friends, asking if this “disappearing thing” was happening to them. Both friends were confused and didn’t understand what Jack was talking about. Jack hung up the phone and suddenly remembered that the chameleon had only fallen l on him!

“Oh wow,” Jack said to himself, ”I can do things, and no one can see me or stop me!” Still confused but curious about what was happening to him, he went to sleep. The next day, Jack was still invisible. He turned on the TV, and coincidentally, there was a fantasy about an invisible man who could change back to human by blinking his eyes three times! Jack was stunned and tried it himself. All of a sudden, he saw his hand holding the TV remote. He was back!!

A couple of days later, Jack was standing on a street in Venice by the shore where there were shops, and he watched a man steal money from the bakery cash register. Jack (still human) blinked three times and decided to follow the thief while he was invisible. The thief put the money in a bag he was carrying and started to run. Jack ran after the man and caught up with him. He grabbed the bag, hard, and fell back against a wall.

The thief pulled back, and the bag ripped open, and all the money fell on the ground. The thief didn’t understand what was happening. He got scared and ran away.

Jack recovered from hitting his head and looked at the ground. Lying on the ground among the money bills was a gold watch!

Since the street was downtown by the shore, all kinds of fish were swimming close to the ground. One special fish used its tail to splash salt water in Jack’s eyes. The fish had X-ray vision that helped him see the invisible man. When the fish splashed him, he became visible, so the neighbors

saw Jack with the money and the watch, and they called 911. When the police came, they arrested him and put him in a jail cell.

Jack spent the night in jail, yelling at the police that they had the wrong man. The next day, one of the cops was sitting at his desk, reading the daily newspaper. One of the articles was about the robbery the day before at the bakery. In the article, the bakery owner gave a physical description of the thief. The cop realized that it did not match Jack, and the police released him.

Jack thought about the situation. He knew he wasn’t a suspect anymore, but he wanted to catch the thief. A couple of days later, Jack was at home watching TV when he saw on the news that a robbery was in progress at a jewelry store downtown. He blinked three times and catapulted through the air to the store. Just as he swooped down, he saw the police car race to the curb. Jack didn’t want the police to know it was him, so he stayed invisible, tackled the thief to the ground, holding him until the cops grabbed the guy. Then they handcuffed him and threw him into the police car.

Jack was pleased and quickly teleported back to his house. He thought about his life. Since he finished college, he knew he had to get a job. He thought to himself that he wanted to become a police officer, so he went to the police station and asked for a job. At that time, they were missing an officer who had just gotten fired, so they said yes, and Jack began working with them.

Jack worked and worked, making a lot of money. When he grew old and retired, he used the money he made by helping the homeless by getting them food and water. He kept on giving the homeless food and water until he sadly passed away. At Jack’s funeral, his sister touched his forehead, and suddenly her finger was invisible!

Watson likes to play soccer and basketball. Watson has two cats. Watson had three cats, but one cat passed away. He lives with his two sisters and his mom. Watson’s dad has two lizards, a dog, and a couple of fish.

Weird Rain

Charisse, my mommy, lives in Los Angeles. She is clever, sassy, and likes to keep her clothes clean (especially white clothes). She lives in a small house with two children, Zoe and Mila, and she loves puppies. She lives in a neighborhood right next to the LA River. She likes fancy restaurants and loves her children.

One day, at home, she was feeding her dogs, Marshmallow and Cutie, dog food. She did not know what was in it because she bought it without reading the package. The next day, Cutie bit her. It hurt a lot, and she was mad at Cutie, but she started feeling smarter and smarter, so she read the dog food package, and it said that if you get bitten, you get powers! She felt a lot happier! Charisse thought it was time to start fighting crimes and solving mysteries. It was going to change her life.

It was a Saturday night, and it was raining hard. She was walking to work with an umbrella. It was an unusual day because it was summer and it doesn’t usually rain this hard in summer! She saw a person who was ONE HUNDRED YEARS OLD!!! Then she saw another person who was also… one hundred years old! She was confused and decided to just go to work normally. But, EVERYBODY AT HER WORK WAS OLD!!! In fact, everybody but her was one hundred years old! She figured out she was protected by an invisible force field. She went to look for clues. She went to her boss to ask to leave work, but her boss was old too!

Since he couldn’t hear or see well, when she was about to talk, he interrupted, “Oh, are you supposed to be off today?” he said.

My mom was surprised. “Um… yeah… Oh! Yes! I forgot,” Charisse said.

Then she went home to watch TV and put her dog, Cutie, outside in the backyard. Later, she went to take Cutie out of the backyard but… CUTIE WAS OLD!!! My mom was there with her mouth open for an hour! She had to figure out what was going on.

The next day, she went outside, and it was still raining. So, she had to use her invisible force field to go outside to look for clues. The first clue she found was a liquid that looked green. So, she carefully put it in a plastic bag. After that, she found lots more of those green drops. It was a trail! It led to an abandoned building. The building looked scary and creepy, but inside was someone she knew, THE WEATHER MASTER!!! She was relieved because he did not hear or see her. She decided to leave because he was her enemy.

The next day, she had to figure out a plan. It took a long time to think of a plan, but she got one. She would ask everybody who was old what they liked or liked doing, and she would do or give them that, and they might turn back to normal. The next day, she asked her neighbor, Bun Bun, what she liked (since she was old).

She said, “I like sugar donuts”, and so Charisse ordered donuts, and Bun Bun ate them, but she was still old. So, her first plan did not work.

Her second plan was to ask the weather master to “help her” find clues outside, but she would have her invisible force field, and he would go in the rain and get the liquid on himself. After an hour, she was ready.

She asked him, “Can you help me find clues because I do not know why people are old, and I do not know who is causing this!”

The Weather Master sighed, “I will, but just give me an hour?”

“Ok!” said my mom.

An hour later, my mom started to complain. “UGHHHH! WHY IS IT TAKING SO LONGGG!!!” she screamed at the top of her lungs.

“GIVE ME A SECOND!!” The Weather Master screamed back.

After she was done complaining, she got an idea. Since she saw an ice cream truck outside, she would ask him to eat ice cream with her, and he would come in the rain because The Weather Master loves ice cream! So, the plan went into action.

“Hey, Weather Master”, my mom said, “Can you come eat ice cream with me at the ice cream truck over there?”

“Sure,” The Weather Master said happily. But as soon as he got in the rain… he got old!

My mom said, “Now you have to make a reverse potion to reverse you, and the rest of the people in Los Angeles.”

The Weather Master made a reverse potion… but it did not work because everyone turned 199!!! At one hundred, everybody had gray hair, glasses, and almost all their teeth out. At 199, they had pitch white hair, they couldn’t open their eyes, and ALL their teeth were out. Their clothes were dark and ripped up, and they walked slower than a snail.

Charisse was frustrated and angry and almost out of ideas, but she had to do something. So she helped the Weather Master make a new reverse

potion with something no one had used before, a fluid called 2XEZ7. Since she was a nurse, she knew the fluid because she had used a little of it to help old people look a little younger. So now she poured A LOT of the solution on a cotton ball and went upstairs and wrote on the cotton balls “DAB ON FACE” then threw them out the window.

The boss at her work dabbed the cotton ball on his face, and he started de-aging. His wrinkles were going away, his hair was turning back to normal, his eyes were opening, and he started to walk faster! My mom was very relieved to know her potion worked. Everybody was de-aging, and in one hour, EVERYBODY WAS BACK TO NORMAL!

Then my mom sold the solution to everyone, so when they turned naturally old, they could de-age. But on the other hand, the Weather Master stole a rocket from NASA. He tried to find an alien planet to get a crew to help him make another potion to make everybody turn into babies in Australia.

Zoe lives in Los Angeles with her mom, dad, her sister, and her dog. Zoe likes to dance with her friends. She likes writing because it is calming and fun! Her favorite subject is coding. She enjoys her friends and piano. She hugs her dog when she is sad, and does not like her showers unless it is cold outside. Also, she loves her family. She wants to be a professional dancer.

Little Man

One day, my friend Ezra and I were walking when we spotted cops outside the mall. Ezra asked the cops what was going on. The cops told us there’s a man with a bomb in the mall, so my friend told the cop he was a superhero and went into the mall. My friend Ezra is a short kid. He is eleven years old. He likes to wear all black outfits. He loves Takis. I, on the other hand, am taller, and we like the same things. He got his powers in an interesting way. On his e-bike, he was on his way to Dodger Stadium. All of a sudden, a truck crashes into Ezra. The truck was filled with chemicals. It all got on Ezra. After all the chemicals, Ezra gained powers. He could shrink really small and grow really tall. When he grew tall, he looked older and had super strength. Ezra is trying to keep it a secret, so only the people he trusts and the government know about his powers.

Ezra’s opponent is a guy who likes to hurt people by kidnapping them. His power is the ability to walk through walls and turn invisible. This villain’s name is Jayden. The way he kidnaps people is by driving a white van, jumping out of the van, going through walls, putting people to sleep, and putting them in the van.

The reporters on the news were saying a villain was taking people by going through the walls. After the cops found a fingerprint, they traced it to his house, but they didn’t catch him because he was invisible. Jayden has explosives. He is mad and wants revenge on the people who bullied him. He knows that those people will be at the mall, so Jayden will hurt everyone at the mall.

Ezra goes inside the mall and uses his power to shrink. Ezra carries a special backpack. Inside, he has his pet frog, Froggy. Froggy jumps out of the backpack to find Jayden. Ezra uses his power to get bigger and taller. Since Froggy is trained, it jumps back into the backpack.

Jayden gets scared and turns invisible. He quietly gets behind Ezra. However, Ezra hears a sound he can’t explain and turns around. When he turns around, Jayden is no longer invisible and is throwing a punch. Ezra dodges it.

Ezra backs up, looks around, and sees a chair. He grabs it and throws it at Jayden. The chair hits Jayden, causing him to turn invisible again. Ezra hears the sound again. Since he already knows what’s coming, he throws a punch and knocks out Jayden.

Ezra hits him so hard that Jayden’s invisibility wears off. Ezra picks him

up and rushes out with him, with 30 seconds before the bomb is set off. Once they’re outside, the bomb squad rushes in and defuses the bomb.

Ezra hands Jayden over to the police. I, Alejandro, just stand outside being a chismoso.

Ezra feels proud of defeating Jayden.

I say, “What’s up, bro?”

Ezra replies, “Do you want to get food?”

The chief comes over and says, “Wait a minute.”

He hands Ezra a check. Ezra responds, “Thank you.”

The chief walks away. I hand Ezra his sweater. As he puts it on, he goes back to looking like a regular kid. I feel good that Ezra chose to trust me with his secret.

Alejandro is eleven years old. He is in fifth grade. He likes soccer and swimming. His favorite video games are Call of Duty and Fortnite.

His Plan Failed

This is the story of a janitor who has invisibility and takes advantage of it.

One night, a janitor is mopping the floors. He comes upon a secret room that nobody knows about. He enters the room and sees a hamster. He decides to pet it, but once he does, he turns into Janible (janitor and invisible mixed together).

His name is Mark. Mark is a tall, brown, curly-haired man. He is a janitor at a big movie theater called AMC. It’s located in the Grove in the city of Glendale.

Now that he is invisible, he is going to try to get free stuff and experiences. Mark goes to his favorite store, which is his local bakery. He goes to the kitchen and sees an untouched tray of his favorite pastries, which are croissants. While no one is looking, he steals the tray and makes a run. After he leaves, the workers notice. Mark is happy with his croissants and eats them while running to his next location.

Now he decides to go get a drink at a smoothie store. Mark sees a drink on a table, so he decides to take it while no one is looking. Then, he decides to go home and continue his adventure tomorrow. However, Mark forgets he has to work that night.

Early in the morning, the employees notice he is missing. The manager (who is the only person who knows about the hamster and the secret room) goes to look for him. Once he gets to Janible’s apartment, the manager realizes that he can check the security cameras at the movie theatre. He goes back to the movie theatre and checks the cameras where Mark cleans. He is shocked to see that Mark found his secret room. But then he remembers that he has the power to see invisible people. He goes to look for him right away. He goes to Mark’s favorite stores nearby, but can’t find him. The manager decides to walk around one last time, not knowing he was actually nearby.

Mark spots the manager and starts to panic, and doesn’t realize he is being too loud. The manager hears something loud and a familiar voice coming from a direction, so he goes right. When he turns around the corner, he spots Mark. Mark also spots him, but he still thinks he is invisible. The manager realizes he could use this to his advantage. He looks around and spots a bucket of neon orange paint in a nearby construction zone. He decides to use it against Mark so that he can’t hide from anyone anymore. He grabs the paint and walks toward Mark, not suspiciously, pretending

he can’t see him. Mark is invisible, so he shrugs it off. The manager quickly throws the bucket of neon-orange paint at Mark, exposing him to everyone.

At first, Mark is confused about where the paint came from until he looks up and sees his manager. Mark is in disbelief. The manager asks Mark a question he already knows the answer to.

“So, how did you get your powers?” asks the manager.

Mark is too scared to answer.

“Maybe from a secret room?” the manager teases.

Mark has no idea that his manager knows about the secret room, so he decides to just confess. After that, the manager fires him on the spot and removes Mark’s powers. Mark walks away upset and mad. The next day, the manager hires a new janitor.

Angie is twelve years old and is in the sixth grade. She lives in Los Angeles, CA. She has two dogs and two birds. She loves spending time with her family. Her favorite sport/hobby is playing volleyball.

The Story of Glacier Girl

It all started when a girl named Gigi and her classmates were going on a field trip to a museum for veterans. She was looking at all the weapons on display when she noticed a red light that was beeping in the distance. The rest of Gigi’s classmates were going the opposite way. As she was going toward the light, she fell into radioactive waste. She quickly climbed up and jumped into a pool of water that was next to the container of radioactive waste. But then a machine from above dumped ice into the water, causing an electric shock.

Then she woke up in her bed, thinking it was a dream. But it wasn’t. So she went to school and opened her locker, and then SPLASH!

She got soaking wet. It turned out that a bully named Josh had pulled a prank on her. But then something weird started happening.

A bunch of lightning was circling around her. Then she made a massive wave and whooshed the bully away. Everyone gasped and then laughed at the bully, and he cried.

Gigi was confused. She didn’t even know what had happened. So she ran out of the school and back to her house in Brooklyn. When she got home, she dashed into her room, feeling scared.

“What did I do?!” she said.

As soon as she said that, she turned into water.

“What the..?!” she exclaimed.

“I’m water?” she said. “How am I still a girl and not a puddle of water?”

Then she turned back into a regular girl.

“Okay, I think I got the hang of it now.”

As soon as she said that, she got flooshed to the ceiling.

“Ahhh!!!” she yelled.

“Great. Now my room is flooded!” As soon as she said that, she turned into a water vacuum.

“Now I’m a vacuum?!” she shouted. “How could things get any worse?!”

Then she heard the sound of police sirens outside her window.

The police had been trying to catch the best supervillain in the world, called Shifter. He could turn into anything. Suddenly, her body moved on its own and jumped out the window.

“Ow!” shouted Gigi. Then, in front of her was Shifter.

“Huh, who are you?” asked Shifter.

“I am, um,”… think of a good name, she thought, “Glacier Girl, and I’m here to stop you!”

Shifter replied, “Well then, let’s see what you got, little girl.”

“Eat ice, you blob!” said Glacier Girl.

“Umph,” Shifter said as he became frozen.

“I did it!” celebrated Glacier Girl.

But then… CRACK!

“Uh oh,” said Glacier Girl.

“You think a little ice is going to stop me?!” shouted Shifter. “But, your powers are strong, I think I’ll take them,” he said, as he shapeshifted into Glacier Girl.

Glacier Girl said, “You can shapeshift into me?!”

Shifter replied, “Well, of course I can.”

“Eat water!” said Glacier Girl.

“Eat water!” responded Shifter as Glacier Girl.

Both of them shot out water at the same time, and then there was an explosion!

“Ughhh,” says Shifter.

“What happened?” says Glacier Girl, and then Shifter says, “Oh, don’t be tired now, we’re just getting started. Or are you scared?”

“I am not scared,” replied Glacier Girl.

“What was that??” taunted Shifter.

“I said I’m NOT SCARED!!!” yelled Glacier Girl.

Glacier Girl got so angry that her water powers turned into boiling water.

“EAT THIS YOU BLOB!” shouted Glacier Girl.

“Oh, please, take your ‘best’ shot,” responded Shifter.

What he didn’t realize was that the water was boiling hot. Glacier Girl aimed her shot perfectly at Shifter.

SPLASH!

“Aughhhh…eugh…kaa…ma...aughhh!!!” Shifter screamed until he couldn’t speak properly anymore.

The police showed up, not knowing what had happened. They scooped Shifter from the floor, poured him into a jar, and took him straight to jail. Gigi realized, after everything, that she would use her powers for justice and to fight evil in smarter ways.

Jacob is ten years old and lives in an apartment on Silverlake Ave. His favorite hobby is drawing and painting with his mom. He has one brother and two pets. Their names are Shadow and Jack.

The Yellow Jade R.

One day, there were these villains called the Yellow buddies. They have yellow skin, blue overalls, and no hair. There were over a million of them, but only 10 lived in New York. They looked like yellow circles that came from the ocean, and they were born like fish. They loved to cause chaos by distracting people, stealing from stores, and doing whatever they wanted.

One day, they planned to steal candy from the store. They walked into the store and jingled the bell to let the cashier know they were there. They walked up to the counter. The cashier looked up and said, “Can I help you?’’ But one of the yellow buddies cut him off and punched him, which knocked him back, and he hit the aisle hard. They fell altogether, and they fell on people.

So then, the eight people who were injured were rushed to the hospital with severe injuries. But the Yellow Buddies walked out of there as if nothing had happened. Later, a detective came in but found nothing.

After, the news said, “Breaking news, there are 10 yellow people on the loose,” people needed to stay in their houses and stay calm.

But then, the Yellow Buddies broke into someone’s house and robbed a lot of money, so the detective came in again, but he still couldn’t find anything, no clues, nothing! So then, on the news, a local hero called the Orange Guy came to the crime scene and looked for clues. He found footprints that belonged to a few people who he knew had caused harm to a lot of people.

Later that day, the orange guy was still searching for clues and wondering where they might go next. The first stop was robbing a gas station, then the second was robbing another house. But then they rob the wrong house because it was the orange guy’s house.

When they entered the house, they saw the orange guy and almost got caught, so they ran and robbed a different house. But luckily, that night, the orange guy followed them home, caught them, and they all went to jail.

Jade is eleven years old and is in sixth grade. She goes to Camino Nuevo Sandra Cisnevo’s Charter School. Jade likes to play volleyball, and her favorite subject in school is art.

Hey you! Are you bored? Read this.

My story is about Air, villains, and people. They used to live peacefully. Air had no scent. Air was invisible. It was alone. My story starts with Air trying to help. Air was a hero by giving oxygen to people and animals (the whole world). But suddenly, construction people were trying to make Air die. The construction workers looked like lumberjacks and acted like lumberjacks. Construction people were trying to kill some air because they needed the place where the air was. But Air didn’t want to give its space up.

So people protested. People said, “No, No, No, No!”

A problem for Air was that people were smoking, which hurt it. It hurt Air because it created gray smoke. It hurt Air because it creates pollution.

Okay, so Air became mad because there was so much smoke in its personal space. It decided to get super windy. It got so chaotic that, depending on where you were in the world, different things happened. For example, you might see trees fall or mini tornadoes of trash. Dust and dirt got into people’s eyes. Some people got blown away.

During that phase, some people die from heart attacks because they were so scared. This is what happened to the construction people. Air turned into evil air because it wanted to make humans regret their choice of smoking and taking its space.

Everyone died except for one person because they were nice to Air. They didn’t smoke, they didn’t cut trees, they didn’t drive a car, and they rode a scooter instead. They also planted more trees.

Lala was an introvert. They became best friends with Air. Lala and Air had fun together. Air let Lala know how they could be saved from everything, like drowning. If you’re wondering how, it saves you from drowning. I will tell you right now: Air saved them by helping them float and filling their lungs with air. Lala did not feel lonely. Air felt happy being with Lala. But then Lala woke up, and it was all a dream. Humans learned their lesson: not to be mean to Air. The whole world decides not to smoke.

Valerie is a person. Valerie likes sugar and playing. Valerie likes food. Valerie likes drawing. Valerie likes breathing air. Valerie likes money. She is good at sewing.

I’m Great at American Football

Joseph Soza

Joseph’s superpower is American football. He began playing for a whole year. He is on a team, and his jersey number is 8. When he gets tired, he drinks water and gets back to playing. He can run really fast. When his teammate is far away, he can throw the ball in their direction. He has so much fun, but he also falls a lot. When he gets tackled, he can slip away. He can get out with the ball and throw it to another teammate, and they score. Joseph is really good at it now, but he’s not sure where it’ll take him. He loves his trophies.

Joseph S. is eight years old and is in second grade. He has an older brother. His favorite color is black. His favorite food is salad. What he misses about Nicaragua is the food.

Daniella’s Power

A teenager named Daniella was shopping in the fruit section of a market when a spider crawled out of the pineapples. She got scared and jumped back, but not before it bit her. It was just a sting, and she thought nothing of it.

The next day, she started to look weird. She had red circles on her arms, so she went to the doctor. The doctor said that it is not normal, so she got very scared. Then a couple of weeks passed, and her skin got worse, so she did not want to go anywhere because she had red circles.

Each day, her skin got worse. One morning, she tried to buy medicine, but it didn’t work. Another week went by, and she turned into a bee. She was flying and didn’t know what to do. She had school the next day, but she was scared because she didn’t know what to tell her mom. After thinking for a while, she told her mom that she didn’t feel good.

Her mom said, “You’re going to be OK,” so she felt relieved and went to school the next morning.

That morning, she saw a bee and tried to touch it. Then, Daniella disappeared. After school ended, her mom was worried because Daniella wasn’t coming home. She went to the police station, and she put up some missing person posters with Daniella’s picture on them all over the neighborhood.

A month passed, and the police finally found Daniella. She was found in a very dark place.

Daniella felt so scared when she saw the police officers because she thought she was going to jail. Daniella’s mom saw the news and ran towards the police station to try to see her daughter after a long time. Her mom ran toward her and tried to hug her, but Daniella was indifferent because she didn’t care. After being lost in a dark place, Daniella wasn’t herself anymore. She became mean and started stinging many people, including the police officers, with her bee powers.

The police officer got so mad that he screamed at her. “HOW COULD YOU DO THAT??!!!!”

Daniella was so scared that she was going to get arrested. Her mom heard the screams and walked toward her and saw what was happening, and Daniella got arrested.

The police told her mom there wasn’t a way she could get out because she had done so many bad things.

Her mom said, “I’ll do anything to get her out.”

The police officer said, “No!! She will be here for one month to pay for all the bad stuff.”

Daniella’s mom was so scared and anxious, she asked Daniella, “What bad stuff have you done?!!!”

Daniella said, “I didn’t do anything. It wasn’t my fault.”

Her mom said, “You are in big trouble,” and told her to stop.

Daniella kept saying, “It wasn’t my fault.”

Her mom was so mad that she took her phone away. Daniela went to jail again because she had stolen something from a store and didn’t want to return it. She got out with her superpowers by flying. Then she was hiding in a very dark place. While she was in the dark place, she thought about how everything she had done was wrong. She went back to the store and returned all of the money she owed to the police.

The police said, “It’s OK, but don’t do that again. It’s not OK.”

Daniella said, “I am so sorry, I am not going to do that anymore,” so she went back to her house, and she felt better.

Leilany is ten years old. She has a dog, Skye, and she’s a female. She has an older sister, and they live near Echo Park. She likes to go to the park on weekends, and they take the dog to run around. Her favorite color is purple.

Superhero Cat

Louis S.

One day, Luna the cat and her owner are home, and the owner is cooking downstairs, but he forgot to turn off the TV. Then Luna sees on the TV that a robber is trying to steal a 10-million-dollar painting from the museum.

Luna says, “Let me defeat the robber. He won’t try to steal another 10-million-dollar painting from the museum again.”

By the way, Luna’s main ability is to control lightning. She calls her powers Lightning Luna! Luna is able to use her powers through her lightning collar (which she found in her Happy Meal toy box). Luna finds it hard to keep the secret from her owner since she suspects he might know something about it. Her owner once woke up from his sleep and saw her flying around the room, so she had to lightly tase him to put him back to sleep.

Luna shows up at the museum and tazes the robber with her lightning power. When she uses her lightning power, her fur changes orange, but her usual color is white. The reason her fur changes color is because the lightning from her collar is so hot it turns her fur orange. It’s so cool! She can control the lightning bolt’s heat to be as hot as body heat or as hot as the sun. That is so cool! She can also shoot plasma out of her eyes like Superman, but one million times stronger.

She controls her lightning powers to turn into body heat, then she safely transports the 10-million-dollar painting back to the museum. Then she makes another lightning bolt, turns into body heat again, and rides the lightning bolt back to her house. Luckily, Luna doesn’t have to worry about her owner knowing she’s gone because she is an outdoor cat.

After defeating that robber, Luna remembered the day she decided she wanted to be a hero. Her dog friend named Taco died in an explosion from a bomb a robber planted in the safe of the bank. Taco was there with his owner, and he jumped on the bomb to protect everyone, including his owner. Luna saw all of this happen on the TV, and she raced to the bank to see the aftermath. But surprisingly, she saw the robber. Filled with revenge, she took him down 40 feet into the ground.

When she arrives home, her owner drops raw chicken on the floor, so Luna puts the lightning bolt collar on the chicken and cooks it while her owner is distracted. Then Luna and her owner eat the chicken and live happily ever after.

Louis likes to sleep. He is nine years old and in the second grade.

Family Story

Meyling C.

A happy family lives in a house with pets. Bailey is the mom, and she has a baby named Bella. Bailey cares for three pets, a tortoise named Tut and two cats, Cute and Mee. One day, Cute the cat is drinking water from the lake. She sees a fish in the water, feels hungry, eats it, and chokes. The mom saves the cat. She grabs Cute, pulls the fish out of her mouth, and throws the fish in the pond.

The mom is happy that she saved Cute. Cute hugs the mom, and the mom goes to the house with her. Then, the mom gives the cat a bath. The cat likes the bath. Tut goes to check on Cute.

Tut asks Cute about her day. “Umm, it was a good day,” says Cute.

Mom, the baby, Tut, and Cute all go to bed. Zzzzz!

The next morning, Bailey realizes that the little cat, Mee, is gone. Mee is missing. Bailey is sad, so everyone is sad. They decide to look for Mee. Bailey, Cute, and Tut are going to look for Mee. Bailey has a car.

They go look for Mee at the park because Mee loves to go to the park every day. When they get to the park, they don’t see Mee. They feel sad. Next, they try to go to Mee’s favorite restaurant, called Boiling Fish.

Bailey, Tut, and Cute look around and ask the server, “Have you seen a little kitten?”

The server says, “No, but who is this cat?”

Bailey says, “This kitten has yellow and orange hair.”

The server says, “No.”

Bailey orders fish and gets her plate of food. She accidentally drops it, and then all of a sudden Mee comes out from the back.

She feels happy that she found Mee. She says, “I love you! Let’s leave the restaurant right now.”

Meyling is the fastest girl in her class. She lives in LA. She loves her mom. She loves her teacher. She loves her toy. She is an eight-year-old girl.

Being Friends

In the forest, Owl, Bird, and Tortoise are playing with their powers. Then they stop playing when they spot a raccoon eating.

They say while watching the raccoon, “All the raccoon food looks delicious.”

Owl says, “Can we get raccoon food?”

Bird replies, “Are you sure you want to do it?”

“Yes, of course,” Owl says.

The owl eats the raccoon’s food. The raccoon sees Owl eating the food and is shocked.

Raccoon is mad and says to Owl, “You are so sneaky.”

The raccoon goes back home to take care of her five babies and gives them food. She has meat for the babies. A bear comes to the raccoon’s home and takes some food, then leaves. The raccoon mom is mad about everyone taking her food.

Raccoon mom says, “This is the last time anyone takes my food. Nobody gets raccoon food.”

“Finally, I can eat. I am so happy,” she says.

The baby raccoons train to be evil and fight to get food. They fight the bear and get hit in the face and stomach. They take all the bear’s food. The bear is sad and mad about the food. All the raccoons are happy about the food. Now the raccoons are taking all the animal food, and all the other animals are sad.

Owl, Bird, and Tortoise are getting food in the forest. The animals see the heroes and become big fans of them. They say hello, and the animals say hello back. The animals are sad.

Owl asks, “What happened?”

The animals say, “The raccoons stole our food.”

Owl says, “I am sorry. We will give you food.”

The animals say, “Thanks a lot.”

Owl replies, “You are so welcome.”

Owl, Bird, and Tortoise make friends with all the animals. They walk in the forest together and see the raccoon.

The raccoon says, “Hi there, I found you!”

Owl says, “I’m not afraid of you. You are mean.”

“I am not mean, you are mean,” the raccoon says.

Owl says, “Why? I know the truth. Tell me why you took the food.”

The raccoon and the others talk and say, “I am sorry. We were fighting with you.”

“Okay,” says the Owl.

The raccoon babies are already trained and ready to fight. They dash toward Owl, Bird, and Tortoise, but they stop when they see the food. The baby raccoons are really hungry, so they eat everything and leave nothing. Owl, Bird, and Tortoise feel sad because there is no food left.

The animals share their food with them, and now Owl, Bird, and Tortoise are happy again.

The raccoon goes back to them. Owl sees it and says, “Do you want to fight me?”

The raccoon says, “No.”

Owl says, “Why are you following me?”

The raccoon says, “I’m sorry. Do you want to be friends?”

Owl says, “Okay.”

Owl turns and says to his friends, “This is my new friend. They are not mean anymore.”

Bird says, “Are you sure?”

“Yes,” Owl says.

“Okay,” says Bird, and Tortoise says, “I like new friends. It is cool. Yay.”

Now they are all friends. The raccoon gives food to Owl, Bird, and the

Tortoise. They are happy with the food, and so is the raccoon. They all have a picnic together and share food. Everyone is happy together.

Melyly likes to play volleyball. Her birthday is in January. Meyly speaks Cambodian/Khmer. She is in third grade. Meyly likes the color light pink. She is nine years old, and her favorite snack is Hot Cheetos.

Secret James Moises R.

James is fifteen years old and in high school. His favorite subject is science. He is a normal student and lives in California. James can teleport and read minds, but no one knows about his superpowers. He got his powers when he was bitten by a snake in science class. His superhero name is Super Prime.

One day, he is watching the news when suddenly, a crime happens. A bank is being robbed, and there are hostages inside. The robbers are stealing money, so Super Prime goes to his house’s garage and drives off in his snake-mobile.

When Super Prime arrives, he activates his camouflage power. He turns invisible and sneaks inside the bank. The robbers don’t notice him. Super Prime knocks them out with his tail, except the leader. The bad guy laughs, “I know it’s you! You come out and fight, scaredy snake.”

“I’m not a scaredy snake!” said Super Prime.

He turns invisible. The robber points a gun at a scared hostage. Super Prime spits sleeping gas, and the robber falls asleep. Then Super Prime calls 911. The police arrive and arrest the robbers.

Super Prime stands there, watching them get arrested. Then, one of them suddenly attacks him. He uses his mind power to summon more groups of robbers. Fifty groups of robbers run toward Super Prime. Super Prime tries to fight back, but there are too many of them. Just when he is about to give up, he remembers he can use his multi-slayer sword with his invisibility. He defeats them all. Then, the bad guys call another group of three big men. They point their guns and shoot where they think he is standing, but Super Prime has a shield of invisibility, so he doesn’t get hurt.

The police rush in. There are so many robbers lying on the ground, so they call for reinforcements to catch them all. Super Prime decides to stay invisible, walks out of the bank, gets into his car, drives home, and goes back to being James, the fifteen-year-old student.

Moises is a fifth grader who loves his mom’s tacos. He lives with his older sister and brother. He likes playing video games on Saturday mornings with his brother. His favorite subject is PE. He’s a good athlete!

Cat Man

Cat Man (aka me): I am a British short-haired cat who is ten years old. I live in Nebraska and go to cat school. My name is Mr. Whiskers. Alright, enough about myself, now let’s get into the story…

CAT MAN CHAPTER ONE:

One night, I was playing with my toy. When I woke up the next day, I went to cat school and ran into the bully cat. The bully cat was a girl called “Cat Girl,” and she went up to me and said,

“Hey! Give me your lunch money!”

I didn’t want to give her my money, so I said, “No!”

Everyone at cat school went silent.

Cat Girl said, “What did you say!”

I was shaking, but I stood up and repeated myself, “No. You can’t take my money.”

A nerd cat stood up and said, “He’s right.”

Cat Girl went silent. Then, the teacher came in and called all the cats to go to class.

CAT MAN CHAPTER TWO:

After school ended, I was really tired. When I got home, I saw a portal appear in my house. A cat came out of it. I was scared.

The cat was called “???” cat, and he said, “You now have powers!”

Then vanished into dust. I could not believe what happened. The next day, when I went to school, I saw Cat Girl sitting on a bench, angry. The cats at school were scared. When she saw me, she stood up and walked over to me.

She yelled, “You got me in trouble!”

She tried to punch me, but suddenly lasers came out of my eyes and pushed Cat Girl away, all the way to the vet.

CAT MAN CHAPTER THREE:

I was sad when my owner scolded me for sending Cat Girl to the vet.

Cat Girl was screaming in pain, ”MEOWWWWWW!”

The doctors couldn’t believe that a 10-foot-tall, fat bully cat was in the vet.

“I don’t have time for this!” said Cat Girl, turning into a giant mutant.

The doctors ran away like mad dogs. But I was there. I used my laser vision to blind the mutant Cat Girl.

Cat Girl said, “Gahh! What is that laser NOOO!”

I ended up tying her up and putting her in jail.

CAT MAN CHAPTER FOUR:

Five years passed, and Cat Girl never escaped, until NOW. ??? cat freed Cat Girl and said

“Become my army—”

But before he could finish speaking,

Cat Girl yelled, “WAIT!” Cat Girl said, “There’s a 7-Eleven, can I get a Coca-Cola?”

??? cat said, “What are you thinking! But I do want some cat food. Let’s GOOOOO!”

They went in and got what they wanted, but as they were walking out the door, the employee said, “Wait! You need to pay!”

??? cat laughed and said, “What do you mean paying? I’m evil, I don’t pay!”

The employee said, “Okay, evil cat, but you still need to pay.”

??? cat was so mad that he blew up the 7-Eleven. But then… Dog Girl showed up! By the time I arrived, Dog Girl had defeated everyone. Then, Dog Girl fell in love with me.

CAT MAN CHAPTER FIVE:

Ten years later, Dog Girl and I had started working together and taking bad guys TO JAIL. While Dog Girl was taking a baaaad cat to jail. A portal

sucked her up and took her to a weird place. This place was not nice. Then, she looked behind her and got infected with the mutation by ??? cat.

“NOOO!” she yelled.

As soon as Dog Girl turned into a mutant, she was stronger than ever before. So I found the nerd to take me to her.

The nerd said, “It’s too risky, Sarge!” but I jumped in anyway.

CAT MAN CHAPTER SIX:

I went into the portal, but it was too late. Dog Girl turned into a giant beast, but I remembered that I had healing lasers, so I used the laser on everyone to turn them back to normal. It hit ??? cat and turned him normal. His name was Tim all along, and he lost his owner, but now he will be my friend.

The End

Secret Ending: Dog Girl gets married to Cat Man, and they have a baby named Cat Half Dog.

Robert L is ten years old and is very funny and likes to play Roblox. Robert is in fourth grade and has a pet cat and an older sister. He likes to read and draw Dog Man and likes to play with toys and hates school and homework.

An Unlikely Hero: My Dad

There’s a person I know who is a hero, and he doesn’t have superpowers. My hero is my dad. He is always kind to me. My dad bought me a cute lamb toy because he knows I love playing with toys. I like the toys he gives me. I try to be as kind as him. I share my candy with my toys so they can eat.

My dad also takes me out to eat good food. We eat hamburgers and sushi. He knows how to make things fun when we are together. When we play in my room, he watches YouTube and TikTok with me because he likes to watch funny videos with me.

My dad is always there for me, happy or sad. When I have to go to the dentist, he comes with me and makes me feel better because I don’t like the dentist. Sometimes, I get mad and cry. He is a great hero and the best dad.

Rosalinda is nine years old. She likes Hello Kitty. She has a sister and a brother. She loves to draw.

Vision: 826LA envisions a Los Angeles where every child has access to quality writing education and is empowered to express themselves creatively through writing. We envision a Los Angeles where every teacher is supported in their writing-based educational objectives.

Mission: 826LA is dedicated to unlocking and cultivating the creative power of writing for students ages 6 to 18, and to helping teachers inspire their students to write.

How we advance our mission: A nonprofit organization, our services are structured around our understanding that great leaps in learning can happen with one-on-one attention, and that strong writing skills are fundamental to future success.

With this in mind, we provide after-school tutoring in all subjects, evening and weekend workshops, in-school programs, field trips, college access, help for English language learners, and assistance with student publications. All of our programs are challenging and enjoyable, and ultimately strengthen each student’s ability to express ideas effectively, creatively, confidently, and in their own voice.

Core Values: 826LA values joy in the service of achieving educational goals. Our community norms value diversity, equity, inclusion, and access. We therefore prioritize partnerships with Title 1 Schools, engagement with historically marginalized populations, and training and deploying community-based volunteers in support of our mission. As an educational enrichment organization, we value supporting teachers, principals, and other school staff in the pursuit of excellence.

Programs

After-School Writing Programs

Mondays through Thursdays, students attend 826LA for after-school writing programs. Students participate in community building activities, work on homework or reading with trained tutors, and of course, write! Students submit their writing for inclusion in chapbooks, which 826LA publishes twice a year. To celebrate students’ hard work, 826LA unveils these chapbooks at book release parties, where students read their work to thunderous applause from their volunteers, families, and peers.

Field Trips

During the week, 826LA invites teachers and their students to our writing labs to participate in a morning of collaboration, creativity, and writing. Whether Storytelling & Bookmaking, Well-Wishing & Poetry, Choose Your Own Adventure, or Memoir, field trips at 826LA support teacher curriculum and student learning by offering a safe space for students to be their most imaginative and to work on their writing skills. In a few short hours, students brainstorm, write, edit their work, and leave with something tangible—a bound book—as well as a renewed confidence in their ability to tell their stories.

In-Schools Programs & Writers’ Rooms

Because not all students can come to us, 826LA brings specially trained volunteer tutors into classrooms throughout Los Angeles. There, volunteers provide one-on-one or small group assistance with writing projects. 826LA works with teachers to craft all projects, which are designed to engage students while targeting curricular needs. In addition to visiting twenty schools in the Los Angeles Unified School District each year, 826LA has additional sites within Manual Arts High School, Roosevelt High School, and Venice High School called The 826LA Writers’ Rooms.

Workshops

826LA’s workshops bring students together with artists, writers, and professionals for creative collaboration. Whether the subject is journalism or preparing for the zombie apocalypse, our workshops foster student creativity while strengthening writing skills. This program includes two longrunning partnerships with Paramount Pictures and the Hammer Museum.
