The Holocaust 1932-1945 Imagine being ten years old in a confusing world of hunger, torture, and questions. So many questions. Why are there armed men on every corner? Why is there no more sugar? Why is it always so dark and cold at night? The truth is sometimes is too hard for 10 year old’s to bare, but many children at this age in Europe have to face all of these unanswered questions. The Holocaust was a dangerous and scary time for Jewish people in Europe due to the Nazis forcing many Jews to Go out of business so many people were unemployed, many
people had to leave their homes to try to escape, and lots of Jews were captured and killed or tortured in concentration camps and ghettos.The Holocaust began in 1932 when President Hindenburg appoints Adolf Hitler Chancellor of Germany. The torture, hunger, and unemployment start here.

Unemployment Many Jews lost their jobs due to Nazis closing their shops, or firing them. The Nazis wanted to make Jewish people’s life as hard as possible and making them unemployed helped a lot. It’s hard enough to find food already but now, with the lack of money, many people were starving. According to the Wiener Library, “The Careers Civil Service Act of April 1933 removed all Jews from the civil service, which also included the teaching profession.
All these jobs were taken over by those who were designated to be Aryan. In line with their racial policies, the Nazis sought to remove Jews from the employment register.” The nazis wanted to make every Jew unemployed and this impacted their lives in a huge way.

Capture 6 million Jews died due to large shootings, gassing, and over half of the Jewish victims died in concentration camps or ghettos. Jews were targeted during the Holocaust because Hitler blamed them for all of the things that went wrong in the world, especially world war I. The “Final solution” was his, and other german’s plan to murder all the Jews of Europe. They could have been shot in a public square, or simply run down by a military car. Concentration camps were places where Jews, or other people who disagreed with Nazis were taken to be, most likely executed, or forced to do labor.
Many of the people who were taken to these concentration camps were found in ghettos, according to the Holocaust memorial museum, “the creation of ghettos was a key step in the Nazi process of separating, persecuting, and ultimately destroying Europe's Jews… The vast majority of ghetto inhabitants died from disease or starvation, were shot, or were deported to killing centers.” These ghettos cost millions of lives during the Holocaust. Innocent people were taken from their friends and family, tortured, killed, and all because of some powerful men’s belief.

The Holocaust 1932-1945 As you can see, the Holocaust was a dangerous and scary time for Jew's in Europe due to unemployment, murder, and having to leave everything behind to escape, risking their lives to have freedom.
