The region is served by CSX & Norfolk Southern and is augmented by short line rail partners. On-dock rail is offered at two of the Port of Virginia’s terminals. An integrated network of interstates and highways connect Hampton Roads to major U.S. markets. Over $12.5 billion will be spent by 2027 to improve the region’s infrastructure. I-64 provides a loop around Hampton Roads before heading west to Richmond. Routes 58 & 460 serve as direct connectors to north-south Interstates I-85/I-95. Route 13 reduces a trip to the Northeast by 90 miles by providing a shortcut through Virginia’s Eastern Shore. Hampton Roads is home to the Port of Virginia — and four of its six terminals — with 50-foot channels and no overhead restrictions. AGRICULTURE
The Commonwealth of Virginia offers the AFID grant, an incentive for projects that add value to agricultural or forestal products of which at least 30% must be grown in Virginia.

AQUACULTURE & SEAFOOD Virginia is the largest producer of seafood on the East Coast. It is also the nation’s largest clam producer and number one on the East Coast for Eastern oyster production. Other types of seafood are also in abundance including crabs (Blue Crab and soft shell), catfish, scallop, shrimp, trout and bass.
