About Our Cover…

As the seasons begin to change and we enter into the fall months, October brings a flurry of activities for you and your family to participate in here at the 6th Force Support Squadron and around MacDill. Fire Prevention Week is 4-10 October and your base firefighters remind everyone to “Stay Fire Smart! Don’t Get Burned” Sparky, the fire dog, will be making visits around the base this week with stops at the Dale Mabry gate, Tinker Elementary School, the Base Exchange and CDC’s. Be sure to stop by the Fire Safety Trailer when you see it on display to get the latest information for your family. The Short Fitness and Sports Center will host Sports Week 2009 from 13-16 Oct with four days of various sporting events for the competitor in you. From football to bowling to golf, racquetball and more, there are multiple events going on each day. The week wraps up with the awards presentation on Friday at noon. Register at the Short Fitness Center or call 828-4496. The kids won’t want to miss the great Halloween activities this month at MacDill Bowling Lanes and the Library and don’t forget the Oktoberfest Membership dinner at the Bayshore Club— it’s an annual event everyone enjoys! Whatever you decide to do this month, remember to take spend some down-time relaxing with your family and friends— some of the best “treats” life has to offer! Thank you to our cover models: A1C Oliver Villanueva, SrA Mark Brandt, SrA Steven Miranda, SrA Dan Hogan and Sparky the Fire Dog (Angela Wilson)
