About Our Cover… Spring is here and the month of April is packed full of exciting Force Support events to fill up your calendar! Bring the kids out to the Fitness Center ball fields on Saturday, 11 April at 10 am for the annual Easter Egg Hunt hosted by the Youth Center and then head over to MacDill Lanes for the Children’s Easter Bowling Party beginning at 11 am. The Bayshore Club will be serving a delicious Easter Buffet for your family on Sunday, 12 April from 11 am to 2 pm. Reservations are required and can be made by calling 828-4756. April is also “Month of the Military Child.” The Child Development Centers have scheduled daily activities all month long to celebrate our military children. The parade, luau, art auction, ice cream social and planting seeds are just a few opportunities for parents to spend some fun, quality time with their youngsters. The MacDill Purple Rain Program presents, “Coming Together Around Military Families”. The program’s primary focus is to support spouses of deployed military members with children between the ages of zero to three. Ongoing efforts in serving military families will occur in a variety of professional settings. We are asking parents at this time to sign up if they are interested. Month of the Military Child April is Month of the Military Child, a time set aside to commemorate and celebrate military children. The 6th Force Support Squadron’s Airman & Family Services Flight has planned a wide range of special activities to take place throughout the month in all the flight child and youth facilities. Friday, 10 April • 9 am Airman & Family Services Flight Children’s Parade The parade will begin at the Child Development Centers (Bldgs 381 and 395) and will continue down Hangar Loop Drive towards the Fitness Center. The parade will march to the Ball field/Track parking lot and return on Hangar Loop Drive to the Centers. This is a community event open to the entire base population… come on out to cheer on children of all ages as they march to the beat of April's proclamation to recognize and celebrate military children.

One-Page-At-A-Time Program Deadline 17 April One page at a time is an Air Force Youth Program designed to promote literacy throughout our programs. The desired outcome is to offer literacy enrichment opportunities for youth and to create a passion for reading. This program is going on now – 17 April. Youth participant’s ages 5-13 years of age can read selected books from a list of 15,000 recommended titles located on our website. Incentive awards are available, but participants must be registered to participate. Check out our website at www.afyouthprograms.com or stop by the Youth Center to register your child. Incentive prizes will be awarded upon completion of interim incentive and final incentive deadlines.

Luau Style Dinner & Art Auction The Youth Center will host a Luau Style Dinner/Art Auction on 29 April, from 4-6 pm. Bids for Artwork will close at 5 pm for the Youth Program. The Luau Dinner may have a choice of, Luau Style Ham, or Chicken, Hawaiian Fried Rice, Baked Beans, Beans with Roast Pork, Assorted Fruits and Vegetables, Hawaiian Luau Cake and a Drink. This is a beginner’s introduction course to canoeing/ kayaking. Meet at the Marina Activity Room where you will learn about the canoe/kayak, equipment, strokes and wet exits. Following the classroom time, we will load up equipment, and go down to the beach for instruction on safety, paddling, and forward strokes.
