Introduce In Assessment three, I will going to develop my previous typeface, and apply it to the real life, including poster, record design, and branding.

By refining the typeface, I have make some changes in the font size and colour to make it more suitable to my design concept, which is future. Since we all have dreamed of what future could be when we are young, this topic remind me of what is future in modern time, does it different from the future in the past? The answer is yes. According to the fashion trend nowadays, we began to bing back the fashion in the early 21th century and the retro style of art in the 80’s and 90’s. Most of their styles are really unique, such as the element of computers, neon light, the universe, etc. All above has given me an idea to create a retro cyberpunk style of art.

The shape of my type face is unique, which has sharpe angle and symbolic shape. This is really suitable for this concept and this is how I start.

GENERATIVE ART

Computers were originally designed to perform complex calculations that are increasingly part of modern warfare: ballistic trajectories, cryptography, hypothetical models for testing atomic bombs. At that time, people began to notce that it could be used as an innovative process to create art in a cutting-edge style. Also, the began to notice that this kind of art has ability to actively support and maintain a certain kind of life, action and existence.

James Turrell Each of James work is like the afterglow of some cosmic event, the visual imprint of distant supernovas. They pulse imperceptibly slowly between purple, red, orange, green and blue. It’s like the whole light of the universe captured, somehow, on the walls of the gallery. But more than anything, these feel like paintings. They’re radioactive Monets, neon Rothkos. But instead of painting light, this is painting with light.

The longer you stare, the more you see waterlilies and shimmering geometric shapes.

Poster Design GENERATING PROCESS: When dreaming about future, several elements has appears in my mind, light, city, graph, electicity. The picture I want to illustrate has covered all these elements.

By applying the graphic design onto the advertising board, this has given three iteration so the advertisement can easily change from one to another. The background was in cyberpunk style to recreate the similar feeling.

Record Cover Design GENERATING PROCESS: As record is a retro way for people to enjoying the music, it has present the music originally and more realistic. The choosen theme for this album design is about the future and I choose ‘Daft Punk’ since it is one of my favourate band. They has broadcast such style all over the world and were thought to be the pioneer of electronic music.

The way I trying to present the work is to applying my typeface design into the cover design. The generative art style can be matched well with the typeface since they all present certain symbol or shapes.

Exhibition Design GENERATING PROCESS: This design is according to our appreciation of life. Nowadays, people are busier with their work and could now manage their daily life better. Show has provide another way to create an extrodinary journy after work, to fullfill peoples mind and thoughts.

The work is trying to resent the graphic design of the futuristic style of art onto the wall, to create different style and ways of wall painting.

By adapting the natural light into the house to give a different feeling during the day.
