O.K. we’ve all been on a fitness break for the last few months since we’ve been staying at home. Now it is time to find a way to get up and get active. Make it a FUN FAMILY ACTIVITY as you participate in the Daily Fitness Challenge. Send us pictures of your family working out together having fun as you all get fit.

Fridays, October 2, 9, 16 & 23 | 3 p.m. - 4 p.m. FREE | Ages 5-18

Join in the jog around the Parade field. We will still be practicing social distancing as needed and the safeguards against Covid. Limited to 10 participants. Anyone who wants to join in the jaunt or show us your running talents, we will be there on Fridays. Set your own personal goals to build up your stamina possibly increasing your distance or running time. (Youth under 9 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.)

Youth will be exploring a mission to Mars during the 4-H Mars Base Camp. The hands on activities can be completed with or without internet access. The activities may also be enjoyed individually or all at the same time. This mission to Mars includes STEM challenges in engineering, physics, agriculture aspects and computer science. Are you ready to be a path finder on a mission to Mars?

The National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC) is launching a series of free virtual college fairs this fall. Each fair has over 600 colleges and is truly national. These fairs feature free college information sessions and have skilled counselors available to answer questions. More information can be found at https://www.nacacfairs.org

Ages 15-18 College bound teens

The 8th Annual Teen Success Summit will be an immersive, extensive virtual experience – safely bringing Los Angeles County Alliance teens to impressive professionals and thought leaders. The focus for the 2020 Teen Summit is career and workforce development (Kollab), social and racial equality and the importance of giving back to your community. Teens will also have mentoring sessions during the day. The Teen Summit mission remains, to inspire the attending teens to plan for their future, gain useful information and tools, and plan on a lifelong pursuit of learning. Contact the Youth center to register for the Teen Summit by 16 October.

School Age Care 2020 (Ages 5-12) Before and After School Program provides age-appropriate childcare with quality programming, youth activities and events. Clubs, Activities, and USDA approved meals and snacks are offered. Transportation to and from select schools is available. The program focuses on team building, cognitive growth, and development of social awareness and problem-solving skills. The staff offers homework support to youth enrolled in the School Age Program. Transportation Program (Ages 9-18) (CLOSED) Youth Program members are eligible for transportation to and from select schools: Leland Elementary, Point Fermin Elementary, White Point Elementary, Dana Middle School and San Pedro HighSchool. Upon return, registered youth may enjoy our Open Recreation Program, or go directly home. $50 PER WEEK *Note: Participation in the transportation program does not automatically register youth for after school activities. Youth must be enrolled in Open Recreation and other programming separately. Open Recreation Program (Ages 9-18) This program provides recreational options for all dependents of active duty, retired military, DoD employees, and contractors living on base under a Tierra Vista lease contract. Youth must have current membership and be between 9-18 years of age. Community service programs, clubs, and classes are offered with focus on recreational activities, cognitive challenges, and team building. $30.00 PER

MEMBERSHIP YEAR- All memberships expire in September, regardless of when the membership was purchased.

Congressional Award Opportunities

The Congressional Award is the United States Congress’ award for young Americans. It is non-partisan, voluntary, and noncompetitive. The program is open to all 14 to 23-year-olds. Participants earn Bronze, Silver, & Gold Congressional Award Certificates & Bronze, Silver, & Gold Congressional Award Medals. Each level involves setting goals in four program areas: Volunteer Public Service, Personal Development, Physical Fitness, and Expedition/Exploration.
