DAY CAMP Kids Cooking Camps

Sponsor: Alaska Dinner Factory They learn and you eat. During this week long camp, kids will learn food safety practices, measurements, temperature control, thermometer calibration, easy prep, and meal planning. Each day the students will make a three-serving entree and sides to take home and cook for dinner that night. Lunch will be included. Three weekly sessions to choose from. Waldorf Kinder Camp

Weekly sessions include Pathfinding, Up, Up and Away, Wilderness Skills, Water Week, Discovery Week, and Celebrate Summer. Your child will discover flowers, plants, bugs and animals that live in this urban oasis. Come and enjoy the fresh air at Russian Jack Springs Park.

Weekly themes include: Wild Walks, Beastly Behavior, Bike Week, Aviation Career Education, Water Week East, Arts in the Park and Sports Week.

Sponsor: Anchorage Community YMCA This full day camp offers a variety of fun and educational activities that are age-appropriate. These activities include arts and crafts, STEM activities, nature crafts, hiking, geocaching, archery, swim lessons, and much more.

Alaska Club Summer Fun Camp

Sponsor: Alaska Club Camps emphasize creative activities and healthy, active fun to keep children engaged and moving all summer long. Campers will explore a variety of crafts, fun games and weekly themed healthy activities such as swimming, tennis, soccer and basketball with the Anchorage Bucs and Pilots. The Alaska Zoo and Bird TLC will provide onsite weekly learning opportunities with various animals. Activities are focused on fun, not competition and are designed for all fitness levels.

Sponsor: Bear Valley Community Association Camp Bear Valley offers swimming, gymnastics, tennis and rock climbing lessons: biking, hiking and other outdoor experiences: the summer reading program at the library, journal writing, cooking activities, art with Debbie Houseman. We also offer small group/ large group field trips to fun and exciting places like Crow Creek Mine, Lake Eklutna and hiking Alyeska. Your child will be in small groups based on the grade they will be going into in the fall with a caregiver ratio of 1:5.

Junior Master Gardener Camp

Junior Master Gardener

Sponsor: Alaska Botanical Garden ABG hosts this popular summer day camp modeled after the Cooperative Extension Service’s Junior Master Gardener Program. This eight-week outdoor, experiential program engages youth in botany, soil science, ecology, nutrition and gardening, and serves to ignite the flame of interest in nature. Children are able to grow a crop from seed to harvest. Produce is donated to Bean’s Cafe and the Children’s Lunchbox – it’s kids growing food for kids. The ABG program is led by Patrick Ryan, a certified JMG Instructor, retired 1st grade teacher, and a 1999 BP Teacher of Excellence.

EXCEL Summer Camp is a month-long career readiness skills camp located in Anchorage. High school students from across Alaska participate in career strands in which they receive hands-on experience, industry certifications, and instruction in the steps necessary after high school to enter these careers. Students also participate in outdoor leadership camping trips and an optional driver’s education course.

Finally, students receive intensive SAT, ACT, and Work Keys testing preparation. They will be eligible to earn high school credit and dual college credit. This year’s camp will feature these three career strands: •

Culinary Arts – Students will learn the basics of culinary arts in a full commercial kitchen and receive their Safe Serve Food Handler certification.

Construction & Heavy Equipment Operation – Students will participate in hands-on construction projects and receive NCCER Certifications.

•

First Responder – Students will receive their Emergency Trauma Technician and Wilderness First Aid Certifications.

alasKa airlines youth baseball/soFtball Camp

sponsor: American Legion Baseball and Alaska Airlines This is the 15th annual camp designed for beginners to more advanced players. Activities included are fundamentals of the game, hitting and smart throwing. Players are grouped by age, and various activities take place designed to help build skills for enjoyment for baseball and softball Other activities include conditioning, and technique building. Lots of qualified instruction and supervision for all campers. Attend individual sessions or attend all three days for $95 total.

This is a climbing and activity camp for kids. No experience required. Subgroups within the main camp group are available to accommodate ability and age differences.
