Anchorage Youth Hiking & Expedition Club Into the Woods Alaska is offering hiking, camping and expedition programs for youth ages 12-18. Daily hiking trips will offer workshops for youth to gain new backcountry skill sets, while camping/expedition trips will guide youth toward self-sufficiency and a set of wilderness safety skills that will last a lifetime.

For camping, we will provide each kid with their own bivvy sack, making it easy to social distance and have privacy, while keeping the bugs out. We will plan the logistics, food and supplies needed for our trips, but these trips will be all about getting kids to do things for themselves.

Youth participants will level up their Alaska outdoor skills, dive into environmental science and build friendships, teamwork and self-sufficiency. 100% outdoors, 100% authentically Alaskan, place-based outdoor and environmental education through experiential, hands-on learning.

Ballet Story Camp: Cinderella An enchanted week awaits your child! Based on the classical ballet of Cinderella, this is a great opportunity for your tiny dancer to learn the story of this traditional ballet and its music, while also exploring the concepts of movement. Sunderland Ranch Horse Adventure Camp Our trail riding-based horse camp teaches a variety of horsemanship skills, arena play and trail rides to gain skill and confidence on horse back. Spenard Community Recreation Center Summer Day Camp The Spenard Rec Summer Day Camp is a licensed full-day camp for children ages 6-12. Girdwood Arts Camp The Girdwood Fine Arts Camp fosters natural artistic talents by giving young artists instruction in the crafts and techniques of the fine arts. Arts Camp serves children age 5 through late teens. There are two sessions for the youngest campers Primary, ages 5-8: morning and afternoon. Students closely collaborate with professional artists who are chosen to teach at Arts Camp for their ability to teach and inspire. The finest art materials are provided. Arts Camp is held for two weeks at the end of the summer in the spectacular natural setting of Girdwood Valley. The whole town gets involved with this annual cultural event which inspires and connects everyone who participates. Parents and townspeople are treated to an exhibition of student work on the last day of Camp. Older children and teens meet for four hours in the afternoons - Intermediate, ages 9-15.
