Welcome to our 2012 ‘Decades of Excellence’ Production Sale. It is hard to believe that it has been almost 40 years since we acquired our first Shorthorns. We bought the farm in 1973 and Royce Dustin, who had worked for the previous owner, joined us as Farm Manager. He talked us into buying a few Shorthorn cows and that was the start of a building program that has resulted in the 150 cow herd we have today. Our sale offering this year reflects the product of the cow families and the bulls that Royce had a major role in developing and influencing through his guidance and counsel through all these years. Sadly, Royce passed away this spring. He will be sorely missed. We are dedicating the 2012 ‘Decades of Excellence’ Sale to his memory. The proceeds from the sale of Waukaru Patent Semen (Lot A) will be donated to the BMP Hospital where Royce was cared for and spent his last days.

General Sale Information
Registration and Transfer All animals sell with completed pedigrees and will be transferred to the buyer. Be sure to provide accurate transfer information to the sale clerk at settlement. Both the ASA & CSA registration numbers are included in this catalog. For Canadian buyers, included in the footnote you will find the percentages for the CSA Appendix registry herdbook. Pending registration numbers of a few of the 2012 calves will be available on sale day. United States buyers will receive an American Shorthorn Association registration paper. Terms of the sale are cash. Settlement must be made with the clerk immediately following the sale and before cattle are removed from the premises.
Billed Accounts All billed accounts are due within 10 days following the date of the sale. Insurance will be available for your purchases at the sale through Harding & Harding. Contact either their representative or the clerk at the settlement desk.
Liability Each animal will be at the buyer’s risk as soon as sold, but will be cared for by the seller for a reasonable amount of time. Neither the owner, employees, auctioneer, sale manager nor other afflicted personnel can be responsible for any accidents, but they will make every effort to provide for the safety and comfort of those attending.
Breeding Guarantee All cattle will sell under the Standard Breeding guarantee as endorsed by the American Shorthorn Association and the Canadian Shorthorn Association.

Exchange Rate The US dollar is worth approximately the same as the Canadian dollar. The exact
Delivery We will arrange to have cattle delivered to a central United States or Canadian point for an amount not to exceed $300 per lot. For United States buyers, we will arrange to clear cattle at the border and do all necessary paperwork. International Transportation provided by H.S. Knill Co. Ltd. Paris, Ontario 877-442.3106. Health The Shadybrook herd is brucellosis free, and is annually vaccinated for respiratory and reproductive diseases and treated with Ivomec.

Flush Lots We guarantee six transferable embryos. Half down and balance due upon completion of flush. Should the buyer wish to have embryos sexed at the time of flush, this can be arranged for $100 per embryo. Embryo Lots Embryos represented as sexed female embryos that result in pregnancies will be guaranteed to produce heifer calves and guaranteed exportable to the USA. On embryo packages of 4 embryos, the buyer is guaranteed one pregnancy if put in by a certified embryo technician. TH Status Our herd has been TH tested. All cattle selling will be TH free unless otherwise specified. Flush rights Shadybrook reserves the right to one successful flush of six or more embryos at our expense and buyers convenience on all females selling.
