MONIQUE DANIELLE Saint Catherine

Katherine is a queer theatre artist based in Toronto, Canada. A graduate of The New School BFA class of 2019, Katherine specializes in projection design, performance, and playwriting. As an actor, Katherine has performed in classical, devised, and contemporary works. Select acting credits: Evelin in Ursa Minor, Calonice in Lysistrata, Joan in Melancholy Play, Chorus in Orestes, and Titania in Midsummer Night’s Dream. As a designer, Katherine has worked on plays, experimental pieces, installations and more. Select design credits: All The Times I Did Not See Potsdam (Plaxall Gallery), More Problems With Form (The Chocolate Factory), Roberto Zucco (The New School), co-designed with Bailey Macejak, and THIS WAS THE END (Mabou Mines) as Assistant Video Designer.

Monique is delighted to be working with Friendly Bear Theatre on Joan/ Jehanne and is so pleased to be participating in theatre after many cancellations in 2020. Monique is a voice actor, theatre actor, director, producer and the artistic director of Prairie Bear Theatre, a company focused on presenting work by, for and including Mad artists and those with lived experience with mental illness. Select acting credits include Speed Dating at the Bull and Bell (Alumnae Theatre), Ashes of Forgotten Rain (NAGs Theatre), Couples Game (Bygone Theatre) and The Last Thing I Did (Drama Insidiis).

SIMON GAGNON Cauchon/Saint Michael Simon is an actor and performer based in Toronto and has been calling Ontario home since graduating in 2018 from the National Theatre School of Canada.

Growing up in New Brunswick, Simon was, and still is, addicted to the outdoors and enjoys spending most of his time outside. He is thrilled to have had the opportunity to be a part of a project like this after such a challenging year in the theatre.

LEE STONE Director/Isabelle/Saint Margaret Lee is a queer, trans and nonbinary, multidiciplinary theatre practitioner who believes in utilizing theatre as a method for engaging with stories and voices of and for social change. They are a graduate of the University of Hawai‛i at Mānoa and have worked in live performance since 2007 as a director, performer, fight choreographer and stage manager in Honolulu, Los Angeles and Toronto. In 2019 they were brought on as an assistant director for the Stratford Festival’s Michael Langham Directors’ Workshop Presentation (DWP) under the supervision of Martha Henry and Bonnie Green. Most recently they were selected for the 2020 cohort in the Emerging Artist Roundtable with Theatre Gargantua.

MAX CAMERON FEARON Director Max is a queer, non-binary, Mad, and disabled multidisciplinary artist. Their work primarily explores how our identities, communities, and experiences help shape our understandings of self and others. Max is currently interning in Artistic Direction & Festival Curation at SummerWorks, co-creating two pieces through the OAC’s Recommender Grants for Theatre Creators (How the Wolf Says Goodnight and Out of the Woods), and coordinating Project Humanity’s 1:1 mentorship program. Along with directing, performing, facilitating, and dramaturg-ing, Max enjoys petting cats, painting, and browsing interior decor websites for furniture they can’t afford.

CARA REBECCA Director Cara Rebecca is an actor, fight coordinator, and creator based in Toronto and Montreal. She loves every chance she gets to produce, direct and teach. Cara was awarded Broadway World’s Best Leading Actress, and received two META nominations for her performance as Chana in Indecent (Segal Centre) in 2019.

Select Performance Credits: Pandora (Youtheatre); Romeo & Juliet, Much Ado About Nothing (Repercussion Theatre); The Ward Cabaret (Harbourfront Centre); Don’t Read the Comments (Segal Centre, Centaur Theatre, Montreal Fringe & Touring). Cara is the co-founder of Collective Outlook, a company dedicated to the creation of hybridized art, infusing the essence of live theatre into interactive digital forums. She recently directed her first short and delved into digital theatre (in the good company of every theatre kid worldwide!).

She is a graduate of McGill University and the National Theatre School, and later trained with the Academy of Dramatic Combat.

JEAN/JEHANNE is part of 59E59 Theaters PLAYS IN PLACE season of virtual events. 59E59 Theaters was established by the Elysabeth Kleinhans Theatrical Foundation in 2004 to grant professional space and expertise to non-profit theater companies premiering their work in New York City. Under the leadership of Val Day, Artistic Director, and Brian Beirne, Managing Director, 59E59 Theaters presents a yearround curated program of Off Broadway plays and musicals that are nurtured and supported through highly-subsidized rental rates, as well as production, ticketing, FOH, marketing, and press support.
