About the Company The Junkyard is an experimental theatre collective that prioritizes long haul creativity and honoring all parts of the cycle from spark to ash. MADGALEN ZINKY (she/ her) is a multi-disciplinary experimental theatre artist and writer based in Greeneville, TN. Her work explores feminine identity, belonging, and rage. Previous productions include The Limit of the Tongue, The Bacchus Effect (The Daughters Collective), In Repayment (The Junkyard), and 8th Annual Womens Retreat, a solo play (The Junkyard). She is a founding member of The Junkyard, an experimental theatre company, and the host of the podcast “The 24 Hour Woman.” Her writing has appeared in Plane Tree Journal, Brit + Co, Ariel Chart, Red Sky, and Knack Magazine, and on her blog at www. magdalenzinky.com
8TH ANNUAL WOMEN’S RETREAT is part of 59E59 Theaters PLAYS IN PLACE season of virtual events. 59E59 Theaters was established by the Elysabeth Kleinhans Theatrical Foundation in 2004 to grant professional space and expertise to non-profit theater companies premiering their work in New York City. Under the leadership of Val Day, Artistic Director, and Brian Beirne, Managing Director, 59E59 Theaters presents a year-round curated program of Off Broadway plays and musicals that are nurtured and supported through highly-subsidized rental rates, as well as production, ticketing, FOH, marketing, and press support.
