WELCOME TO OUR SUMMER SEASON 2019 has been a great year for 59E59 Theaters with shows in Theaters B and C playing to sold out houses. We are also happy to congratulate Prospect Theater Company on their myriad award nominations, including four Outer Critics Circle and three Drama Desk nominations for their musical, The Hello Girls, which astounded our audiences last Fall. As we write this, Brits Off Broadway is going like gangbusters until the end of June. The New York Times’s Ben Brantley describes it as “the essential Brits Off Broadway Festival, which allows New Yorkers to see choice British shows that might otherwise never make it here.” Looking to Summer, we’ve curated a diverse season that we think you will find entertaining and inspiring. Among the many fine productions making their Off Broadway premieres are Two’s a Crowd starring the one and only Rita Rudner and Fern Hill featuring Jill Eikenberry and John Glover. These plays received enthusiastic receptions from audiences in California and New Jersey, and we believe you deserve to see these works too. Joining them is Throughline Artists’ perennial favorite Summer Shorts series and a diversity of local and regional theater companies who are putting their productions on stage for the first time, showcasing an abundance of talent from NYC and across the country.
