Greetings, Laguna Seca VIP Superfan!

Wow - what a weekend at the WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca Superbike Speedfest. To our VIP Superfans and MotoAmerica racers, thank you for making this one of the most memorable weekends we’ve ever hosted.

This year, our VIP Experience moved to the Pavilion Suite above Turn 1, and it proved to be the perfect home. A record number of VIPs, phenomenal guests, a room where we could actually hear our speakers, and the best view of the circuit in the house. We questioned it , but it worked out perfectly

With Saturday’s recordbreaking attendance, we brought seven incredible racing and industry guests up to the Pavilion. On Sunday, we topped it with eight more. Add in trips to the starting grid and podium on both days, and the energy was electric from morning to closing. And then there was the racing!

Five championship classes battled all weekend, but none captured the crowd quite like Attack Performance Progressive Yamaha Racing’s JD Beach. Riding in the Quad Lock Superbike class with the stunning Yamaha 70th anniversary GP livery, JD dominated both races with the kind of conﬁ dence and joy that reminded fans exactly why they’ve followed him across both road racing and dirt track.

JD Beach’s Laguna Seca performance didn’t just deliver results - it reignited the passion of fans who’ve supported him for years. More meaningful than being selected for the cover of this VIP Laguna Seca edition was the joy JD shared with his team, his family, and the fans who’ve been part of his journey. Well done, JD Beach. But the heart of our VIP community didn’t stop at cheering. Many of you stepped up with generous donations for Scott Odell’s artwork and our VIP special hats, with all proceeds directed to support the Superbike Cup privateer racer Super Carl Soltisz. Kathy Price was astonished when she tallied the contributions - and we were proud to hand Carl a combined check and cash total of $6,030.00. That’s the kind of support that changes a racer’s season.

Two Legends, One Mantle: Lawson and Shobert Named Co-Grand Marshals for MotoAmerica’s Historic Return to Laguna Seca

Eddie Lawson and Bubba Shobert will stand shoulder-to-shoulder as the o cial Co-Grand Marshals for the MotoAmerica Superbike Speedfest at Monterey Presented by Law Tigers, anchoring an unforgettable weekend at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca.

Their joint selection carries monumental weight, arriving in a landmark year as MotoAmerica celebrates 50 Years of Superbike Racing. By bringing these two icons together to lead the paddock, the event honors a golden era when American dirt track grit successfully crossed over to conquer the asphalt, laying the foundation for a half-century of domestic and global Superbike heritage.

The Clinical Precision of “Steady Eddie”

Four-time 500cc World Champion Eddie Lawson represents the absolute pinnacle of calculated pavement mastery. Long before entering the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame, he honed his exceptional throttle control on dirt ovals before transitioning to the asphalt. Once on the tarmac, Lawson quickly transformed the domestic landscape, capturing back-to-back AMA Superbike Championships in 1981 and 1982 aboard the factory Kawasaki KZ1000.

When he carried his clinical style to the world stage, Lawson’s trademark consistency— which earned him the moniker “Steady Eddie”—rewrote the record books. He conquered the volatile 500cc Grand Prix two-stroke ﬁeld to secure four world titles (1984, 1986, 1988, and 1989) and became the ﬁrst rider in history to win consecutive premier-class crowns on two entirely di erent manufacturers (Yamaha and Honda). His inclusion as Grand Marshal is a salute to an elite standard of racing intelligence and unmatched precision.

The Unstoppable Versatility of Bubba Shobert

Texas legend Bubba Shobert represents the raw power, adaptability, and relentless grit that deﬁned America’s multi-discipline racing dominance. A true prodigy of the dirt, Shobert commanded the 1980s by capturing three consecutive AMA Grand National Championships (1985–1987) for the powerhouse factory Honda team. However, it was his seamless crossover to road racing that cemented his status as one of the most complete racers the world has ever seen.

In 1988, Shobert broke through to win the AMA Superbike Championship on a factory Honda V4, snapping years of rival manufacturer dominance. In doing so, he achieved the incredibly rare AMA Grand Slam—earning national victories across Short Track, TT, Half-Mile, and Mile dirt tracks, alongside premier road racing. His presence at the 50th-anniversary celebration represents the peak of all-around racing versatility, proving that an American ﬂat-tracker could line up against the best in the world on any surface and win.

The choice to pair Lawson and Shobert as CoGrand Marshals holds a profound emotional resonance for Laguna Seca, as their competitive careers are forever intertwined by a historic moment on this very track. During the cool-down lap of the 1989 United States Grand Prix, Shobert was riding directly alongside Lawson to celebrate his friend’s podium ﬁnish. In a tragic sequence of events, another competitor had unexpectedly stopped over a blind crest to perform a burnout. Lawson managed a split-second swerve to narrowly miss the stationary machine, but Shobert collided with it at high speed.

The devastating, career-ending impact cut the ﬁerce Texan’s surging global Grand Prix trajectory short, but it also forged an unbreakable, lifelong bond of mutual respect between the two icons. This weekend, as they stand together at the top of the Corkscrew, their joint role is more than a retrospective. It is a powerful validation of friendship and the unmatched legacy of a generation that deﬁned 50 years of Superbike speed.

Selected For VIP Superfan Privateer Support Program

At WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca

IRVINE, CA (July XX, 2026) — MotoAmerica Superbike Cup rider “Super” Carl Soltisz and his Super Carl 57 Rider development team had quite a weekend at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. The Minnesota-based Michigan native was named the latest recipient of the VIP Superfan Privateer Support Program, and the timing couldn’t have been better.

Nearly 200 VIPs packed the Pavilion Suite daily, boosting the new program to a record-breaking weekend. Through donations, limited-edition MotoAmerica VIP hat sales, and an auction of Scott Odell’s artwork, the initiative raised $6,030 for Soltisz. This included a 5-gallon fuel drum donation from VP Racing Fuels, marking the program’s largest single-rider haul since its March launch at Daytona International Speedway. At the season’s midpoint, the new initiative has raised more than $15,000 for privateers.

A few VIPs went above and beyond: CeCe Saimo, Elijah Williams and Craig Simonian each made major contributions and walked away with signed memorabilia for their generosity. Thanks also go to the guest speakers who took a few minutes to sign VIP hats, helping push the fundraising total even higher.

Soltisz races a Honda CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP in the Superbike Cup category which runs alongside the Superbike class on track, but scores its own standings — essentially a championship within a championship.

He’s currently sitting second in Superbike Cup points after putting his Honda on the box with a P3 finish in Race 1 at Laguna, and the momentum keeps building.

It’s a big turnaround from last season, when an injury sidelined Soltisz for most of the year and forced him to put his race bike up for sale in order to cover medical bills. Back in action for 2026, he’ll put this support to good use — including getting himself and the team across the country to the next round at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio, July 31 - August 2.

Soltisz didn’t hold back when asked about the surprise: “I am so incredibly grateful to

Scott Odell, VP Racing Fuels and all the VIP superfans for their generous donations. Receiving this check was a huge surprise, and it means the world to me to receive this support. It’s always a challenge trying to pull together the funding needed to compete in MotoAmerica, and this contribution eases that burden in a big way. I want to give a massive thank you to everyone who chipped in, and especially to “Slicer” Ron Heben for creating the Privateer Support program. After the injury I had last year, this is just the boost I needed. I am going to give everything I have to make all of you proud this season. Thank you all again so, so much for helping me chase my dream.”
