Manager’s Corner

Dear TGO Community, Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas! The CSA and Recreation offices will be closed to observe the holidays on Monday, December 26, and Monday, January 2. CSA will not collect garbage curbside on Christmas Day. Blue Heron will be closed on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day to allow our team some time with their families. The restaurant will feature revised hours and specials on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. This “Eve of Christmas Eve” issue of The Happenings provides our Courtesy Patrol team a great opportunity to thank you (well, almost all of you) for routinely obeying our traffic rules and following our speed limits. This Christmas Day will mark the fourth year that Courtesy Patrol will be ticketing a few drivers on our TGO roads who are carefully obeying the speed limit. The ticket you may receive is a gift voucher to the Blue Heron Restaurant. I hope a few of our safe drivers get recognized with some holiday cheer from our Courtesy Patrol team.

This week our CSA team worked on pothole repairs on our Plantation entrance road and at the intersection of Plantation and Sunset. This week we also followed up on safety items that were identified during our bi-yearly safety inspection of work areas conducted last week. Overall, our third party safety inspector was pleased with the conditions of our work areas. Our team has had a very safe year with no major accidents, and only three minor accidents.

Randy Hendershott joins our team as Blue Heron Food & Beverage Manager next week. After an extensive search, I’m confident we’ve hired the right person to lead our Blue Heron team and manage our restaurant in 2023. Randy joins our team with 42 years of experience in restaurant management. He is most excited about putting his skills to work in a large community such as ours. Randy will work hard to keep our restaurant successful, but our owners, residents, and guests will always be the most important ingredient in Blue Heron’s success. You ensure our success when you dine at Blue Heron regularly, and you share your positive experiences with others, or when things aren’t quite right, you provide kind and constructive feedback to the manager or staff so we can improve. Please offer Randy a sincere welcome to our community, and as always, thank you for your continued support of our restaurant.

The new year is a time to set goals. One goal I set every year is to listen closely to the Board, the residents, owners, and, employees, and work to implement their ideas to improve our community. Perhaps my most important goal in 2023 is to keep TGO a wonderful place to work by developing our CSA staff and recognizing their hard work. Just last week we recognized two CSA employees, Beth and Matt, as “Employees of the Quarter” for stepping up at the Blue Heron. You can read more about their hard work in this issue of The Happenings. They are just two examples of wonderful people who dedicate themselves to keeping TGO great.

The CSA staff and I wish to thank you for the wonderful holiday cards, gifts, cookies and candies you shared with us… we have enjoyed your thoughtful wishes and treats, and now we will prepare to begin a new year’s diet! On behalf of our CSA Board and the entire CSA team, we wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Sincerely,

Billy Specht CSA Manager
