JUNIOR COACHING PROGRAMME 2021 Dear Junior Member/ Parent/ Guardian Welcome to our Sunday lessons on The 2019 Course. This is an exciting time for our DPGC junior section despite the challenges we currently face. This communication covers the basic information to help you fully engage with this year’s coaching programme. Let’s hope for a fantastic 2021. Coaching Programme For us, it is all about participation and kids enjoying our great game of golf. The lessons, covering all aspects of golf, are led by our club professionals Ally and Jamie. This year, the programme is based on the pyramid system, with Ally and Jamie evaluating performance to support kids progress at a pace they are comfortable with. The aim is to have as many kids as possible enjoying playing golf on the 6-, 8-, 9- or 18-hole courses after each coaching session. 11am – 12am session: Beginners’ Group, coaching only. 12am – 1pm session: Intermediate Group, coaching followed by play on the main course. 1pm – 2pm session: Novices’ Group, coaching followed by play on the 6-hole course. Coaching Sessions The first session starts on Sunday, 25th April and lasts for five weeks. The second session will be advertised two weeks before the end of session one. Communications Keeping in two-way contact is key. The main ways to communicate with us is by: Email: Club: Junior Convener: Club Professional:

The Golphin App As a golf club we signed up for this app at the start of last year. The app works a bit like swimming badges, monitoring kids’ progress through different levels – challenging their skills on putting, chipping and basic rules etc. Ally and Jamie will incorporate the tests into their lessons and they will monitor your child’s progress through the stages. The club has paid for 500 licences but is free to parents/guardians. We are looking for your support in encouraging your child to use this powerful app to monitor and record their learning and improvement. Registering for the app is straightforward. Simply cut and paste the following link to your browser and join up. https://live.mypathway2golf.com/complete-studentregistration?coachId=134&token=ed114f84-2e2c-4a01-bdfc-cbe7df7e8bbf Hoodies This year, junior members will have the opportunity to buy a DPGC-crested hoodie at a heavily subsidised price of £10. We hope the kids will proudly wear their hoodies giving an even stronger identity for our DPGC juniors. We will be taking orders over the next few weeks. Enjoying our Club’s Facilities After the golf, why not pay a visit to the golf club and enjoy a meal/snack or drink with the family? The junior membership card can be used to purchase discounted food and drink. Try our members’ two-course meal deal for only £8.95. Note: a junior’s card cannot be used to purchase alcohol!! I hope you enjoy our coaching programme. Have a great season at DPGC.

Raymond Johnston, Honorary Secretary 25th April 2021
