TE PUNA TAIAO AT KIMI ORA COMMUNITY SCHOOL
Kimi Ora Community School is situated in the heart of Flaxmere / Pā Harakeke. Kimi Ora has an amazingly rich community. Different cultures bring skills and strengths that support and help nurture and grow kids into caring, responsible people who make a difference in their school and community.
The school is currently working with the Ministry of Education to build new and innovative indoor learning spaces for their tamariki. When planning their buildings they saw schools elsewhere starting to improve not just their indoor spaces, but also their outdoor spaces via a new flax-roots initiative called Te Puna Taiao.
Kimi Ora has embraced the Te Puna Taiao Kaupapa which aims to transform the outdoor areas of schools in Aotearoa into places that are both fantastic outdoor play and learning environments for tamariki during school-time, as well as beautiful enriched playgrounds and gardens for the wider community outside of school hours.
